5th time's a charm? You're invited to the wedding/concert of JOURNEY guitarist, NEAL SCHON (his 5th) &The Real Housewives' MICHAELE SALAHI (her 2nd) this Sunday! For $14.95 you can pay-per-view it live from the Palace of Fine Arts. Proceeds will help Philippines typhoon victims--what's not to love?
Is the saddest thing in America the reality of unfairness? A 16-year-old, who unapologetically killed 4 innocent motorists while he was extremely intoxicated--was just let off because he is a victim of "affluenza" (being too rich).
Ooooo! I just found out that you can enjoy one of the hottest basketball experiences--Stanford Cardinal Women's Basketball--FREE. They're having another winning season with their coach, Tara VanDerveer who's made it into the elite 900 Club now!

One of my FAVES is a World Premiere, born right here in San Jose...
Steampunk meets Madonna? The amazing San Jose Rep created its very own musical adaptation of THE SNOW QUEEN. Fantastic songs & costumes--and doesn't the Queen look like Madge? See it through Dec. 22nd. (I loved it!)
'Gotta hand it to Carrie Underwood for giving it her all in "The Sound of Music Live" last night. But I guess I was expecting "more" from it. Was I the only one who kept dozing off throughout its 3-hour broadcast?
Cathi Nordin Lol! Carrie Underwood was really sweet, but the movie just wasn't the same as the original version. I don't think this version even comes close to becoming a classic! My granddaughters, ages 8 and 10, also didn't find it very appealing. We're going to watch the original version...
Dee Douglas i think that carrie is just a little too demure to match the chutzpah and forwardness of Julie Andrews. I always find it odd that people want to make 'do-overs' of such classic movies and music. Although I love Carrie Underwood and most of her endeavors, the 'new' Sound of Music felt more like a high school play.

December 2nd-6th Listen at 12:50 pm every day this week to take a friend to... The Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker Flint Center Dec. 14th ~~~~~~ If you're missing someone special this season, I hope you're feeling the closeness of family & friends. I just put together family photos to share at Christmas; not easy with the loss of my mom this year. Here's to LOVE & PEACE for you this holiday!
Gina Six Kudo I'm with you Jona, I'm sorry again for your loss, I know it's hard to deal with, but at least we know we were loved.
Steve Alt Jona...lost my grand Daughter when she was almost 4 months old this year so your post is MOST meaningful! Thank You!!!
Jona Denz-HamiltonSteve Alt: My heart goes out to you. I know the pain of losing a young family member too. I hope your family is finding good ways to cope. Bless you.
Steve Alt Thanks Jona...your post helps and all the best to you this holiday.
Marsha Zanetti Kane will keep you in my thoughts, jona... the loss of a mother is hard..love your post...
Carolyn Pranke ((Jona)), my parents passed a while ago, it does take a long time to adjust. However, I recently reconnected with first cousins I hadn't seen in 30 years. So, when one door closes, another one does open....
Becky Obbema So sorry Jona, it's been a rough and rocky road this year. Be kind to yourself this holiday season.
Dee Douglas Hugs. Though it can't take the place of your mom, know that you have friends and family around you that love you so much. Take time for yourself to grieve when you need to and allow the good thoughts of others to help fill the void.
Ken Stout I lost my dad to colon and liver cancer so I know how much that sucks.
Lorraine Macias Mendoza Jona, thanks. It's been hard. Lost my Dad in 97, and my Mom this last September . I know you know how I'm feeling.
"Hugs " but our parents are forever in our hearts and so many memories to remember all the love
( but it still hurts)
Doris Dorn yes, these firsts are always so dang hard.
Ivy Daley Jona, I know, I lost my dad this year. Thanksgiving was strange without him
Sandi Stramback Photos are such a wonderful link to our memories of days past ... Every Holiday is hard when you lose a loved one. Miss my Son.
The TV news is going on about how COLD it's getting here this week, upper 20s starting tomorrow night. LOL--the Nat'l Weather Service is referring to Chicago's nearly identical forecast as "unseasonably MILD!"
My forecast: Fuzzy socks!
'Can't wait to see the media showing of the world premiere of The SNOW QUEEN at the San Jose Rep Wednesday. It's billed as having an original pop rock score, alluring ballads, and urban steam punk flair--too cool! What would Hans Christian Andersen say?
Patricia Monsees Yuck I need my 70s!!! Steve Alt A low of 33?? WOW...it is supposed to be 3 below to 6 above for our overnight low tomorrow night and 3 just got 3 inches of snow! OH the high tomorrow??? 28 Jona Denz-Hamilton Citrus, Steve--gotta pray for it! (20s later this week).
Carolyn Pranke Ha Jona Denz-Hamilton, I am enjoying these "warm" temps in December! David Lopez My truck. The heater is the bomb. Brandy Mason hot chocolate a rip roaring fire in the fire place. It does feel like a brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr colddddd freezing fridgid weather come through. Dee Douglas we are likely having an ice storm come through here friday so we went and got gas for the generator today. my favorite warm-up is hot chocolate or coffee with the carnation chocolate mint creamer! yum.
Cliff Feldman my favorite warmer upper is when people run their AC when its 70 degrees...let's warm the whole planet! James Denz Cliff, are you kidding? Jona, isn't it cool ice skating around lighted palm trees? John Lyle A high of 52 in Chicago? I doubt that!! I'm in Minneapolis today and it's snowing and in the 20s. It's supposed to be getting below zero in a couple days. So I'm heading south to warm and sunny Iowa! Then home to sunny and (must be) warmer California in a few days!
Jona Denz-Hamilton to John Lyle: You doubt me LOL? The National Weather Service for Chicago says: "Wednesday: Cloudy... Unseasonably mild. Highs in the upper 50s. South winds 10 to 15 mph."
