Giants/Halloween/Orange/Black--LOL! If your boss lets you dress up for Halloween, you can go as a Giants' fan--and easily be Halloween-appropriate! I promised to wear my orange shoes this week in honor of the Giants. I'm afraid that I'm going to run out of coordinting wardrobe! What would you wear with big orange sneakers?
Game One of the World Series is this afternoon at 5:02 and the enthusiasm is hard to curb...emotions are already running pretty high around here at KBAY. Half the staff is dressed in orange and black, and the rest of us just used it all up last week!
What will you say to the Detroit Tigers fans you may encounter today--when they need a shoulder to cry on?
Fom the "What Next" Files...So, Pat Benatar has the soundtrack. Now you can enjoy the wrinkle-removing effects of getting "Hit" with a "Shot" that will cost you $350, or $1000 for a series of 4 slapping sessions of an "ancient Thai" practice. What?? Would you think this would work? I might be adventurous and try it out--if it were more like $35. But then, I'm pretty skeptical. What tried and true beauty treatments do you swear by?
Dee Douglasallowing my wrinkles to be.... i worked hard for them and i intend to keep them!

On the other hand, there are those who age beyond gracefully. They just keep going and going.... Take Frankie Valli, for instance:
You can call him old, but isn't it inspiring how some folks keep sharing their talents with us?
Ohhhhhhh! While the Giants were beating the Cardinals Friday night, ADELE was recuperating from giving birth to her little boy--unofficially! She's not saying yes or no, yet. It's such happy news for a woman who has had a life plan of not waiting any longer to become a mom. Sweet! Until you hear about the trolls who have to taint the joy with their awful, disparaging remarks on her her Twitter site! I'd like to think karma will kick in. What does news like this make you want to do?
Sharon HarrisThis is so RUDE Gina Bobena...trolls... that's the trouble with the internet! it makes it too easy for them to be the jerks they already are! :-( Ted KopulosI've always said that EVERY post must be tagged by the real name of the person who makes it. If you can't stand behind your words, you don't have the right to express them. You're a coward. That's not anti-Constitutional, that's ethics. The Constitution does not guarantee the right of anonymous speech. You may express anything you wish, but identify yourself, or your words mean nothing. Alas, the internet empowers cowardice and vileness. Dee DouglasA similar situation happened here. A young man in jr. high here in our community had terminal cancer. A facebook page was made to keep people up to date and to help rally support for him and his family. The site was used to give medical updates, info on fund raisers, and for general support. Most of our community were so supportive and they started a campaign, "Thumbs Up For Lane" and people, ball teams, emergency teams, etc. took various pictures and would post them on FB as well to show him support. People started complaining about how much they saw of him and they were sick of hearing about it, etc. Even when he died last week, they were still at it. I know it had to hurt the family as well as all the rest of us who supported him and cared. It is wrong. Jona Denz-HamiltonDee Douglas: Small minds...small hearts... Dee Douglasyep. i guess the trick is to just look at life as being full of good and bad. you just have to sift through it. hopefully adelle can just put aside all the bad remarks and enjoy her little one. i think it would be hard to take away her joy. Janie FreemanYep, I agree with you guys. Trolls got me on two forums. Took the fun right out of posting. I got an email warning me that someone was flaming me on twitter. It seemed suspicious , so I clicked the link on my old cell phone, since I was going to recycle it anyway. Good thing I didn't do it on my computer. It held a virus. Sometimes, I check my name on google. I found some people set up a facebook page with my name, that is like a 'for a good time, enter' thing. I went to complain to facebook, but they wanted my Driver's License info. Nope. Herb Galindosheesh give the gal a break!
Jona Denz-HamiltonDeana Pisciotta Anders: You support the NEXT generation too : )Julie HansenI got sick watching the Residents on KQED in '80. Didn't even make it through one song. Really weird.Julie HansenNeil Young of course. He's been a homey here for years.Jona Denz-HamiltonMy two more recent local faves are Train and Michael Franti : )

I'm thinking "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane" would be a great film that my sons would enjoy for Halloween. My parents took me and my brothers to see it at the drive-in! Have you/your kids ever enjoyed that experience?
Marilyn BarrantiScary one for me that my parents took me to at a drive-in was I know who you are..and I saw what you did...... dropped my soda right in my lap !!! It also starred Joan Crawford... Ofelia Pena McCainWe took our kids when they were little to Capitol Drive In. I don't recall what we saw. They had lots of questions about the steamy car next to us. They noticed when the car had not set their parking break and with all the movement, the love machine rolled back and hit the car behind them. Katie Glasspool CrickOur kids love Capitol Drive In! KFC + popcorn plus laying in the back of the car with their blankets and pillows -- they love it! Sue FurtawI remember the Campbell drive in when I was little and when I was a teenager I went to the Capitol drive in. Great times, great memories! Patti BarronI loved the drive-in theaters. When my kids were young I took them and we would bring KFC, drinks and I would pop my own popcorn. We stayed through all 3 movies because they played the 1st one twice. It was only $5 and kids were free. The kids loved it! Good times! Trish NietoVery good movie, Happy to own it! :)

'Just lookin' on the bright side...
Thanks to the person that dropped a bottle in the intersection of Monterey and Main in Morgan Hill (that I ran over) I found a big ol' NAIL in my tire--again! But this one got fixed in time. What kind of luck is that??
Teresa Jennings: It looks more like a bolt LOL! Jona Denz-HamiltonTeresa Jennings: I thought so too, but Skip's Tire said it was definitely a big, fat nail--fixed BEFORE it went flat and ruined, this time. YAY!
Tuesday WildchildLucky you I recently had to have a new tyre which was 200 of my English pounds. That hurt. Jona Denz-HamiltonTuesday Wildchild: Ouch! I've had 3 tires ruined in the past year or 2 because they went flat slowly during a commute--flat enough to overheat and get trashed.
Tuesday WildchildMine was a pothole and came off rim and shredded the inside. I have only a 35mm deep wall so potholes are avoided when seen.
Doris Dorni have a tire that is a nail/screw/bolt magnet. my husband is not sure why i get so many flats. But I can say Bozzo's Union 76 on First St in Gilroy is very fast and inexpensive at fixing them... helps that they aren't very far away!!
Jona Denz-HamiltonI have road hazard insurance on each tire through Skip's--so no charge!
Julie Stilwellme,too! Three blow outs in the last 18 months. Thirty five years of driving without a flat,then 3 in what seems like all at one--on new tires. Love the road hazard insurance,but still decided to go with a "tought" tire this time--at least it looks tougher. :)
Sophie RayIm really sorry Jona. Kidding. sherry/sophie
Dee Douglas it is still probably the scariest day of my life. i'm glad i live here and only have to feel them when i visit now! Jona Denz-HamiltonPictured is the Giants' Kelly Downs who went on to play with the Oakland A's for a couple of years. What a shot!
Jona Denz-HamiltonDee Douglas: You come to town and the earth quakes?? The USGS may be interested in that phenomenon! : )
Joseph DemarestWill never forget it ... My eldest son was just 2 months old at that time. Dee Douglaslol, true! seems every time i come out there though, there is at least one small one. the loma prieta made me freeze and my friend had to first take my son from me and get him outside and then come get me. i just could not move because i was so terrified. Jona Denz-HamiltonJoseph Demarest: 'Same boat! My oldest, Chris, was exactly 10 weeks old that day! Jeff PodrazaI had just moved here. I was supposed to look at an apartment that day, only station in the bay area I could get on a 8 mile 3 and half hour commute was KOME and I think Frank Bennett. He had a report the overpass on San Tomas collapsed at 101 (of course wrong but didnt know at the time), and felt like I was left on the island as didnt know my way around. Cliff Feldmansince I was at the game, it was just like yesterday Jona Denz-HamiltonJeff Podraza: It was crazy those first few hours. We let a friend from Santa Cruz stay at our place so he could get to work at KOME without having to take all the side roads to San Jose with 17 shut down. Dan KindI was on 101 North bound coming home from work, just between Montague and Bowers. I was listening to KOME and I truly believe "Two Tickets To Paradise" was playing when the quake hit. I thought I had a flat tire and pulled over. So did everyone else. By the time I got off 101, traffic was unbelievable. I parked the car and ran home. Judy Dallojacono Reed23 years? Wow! Where has time gone? It definitely was like yesterday..."I feel the earth move right under my feet"....such a historical memory and so amazing that so many of us survived the magnitude of "mother nature"! Judy CrumI was at my chiropractor's office, in that lovely gown. My chiropractor had just put the heating pad on my back, told me to relax, and then he left the room. I heard all the car alarms going off outside, then seconds later, the room started shaking. Needless to say, I couldn't relax. lol. It's funny now, but it was really scary then! Marty Kay AndersonI feel the results of that day every time Cold fronts or Rain is coming. I was standing on a Latter & fell off & landed all my weight on my right leg & messed my hip up. Dean FarleyI'll NEVER FORGET that day Marty and Jona! Veronika GarciaI remember it vividly...was talking about it at work the other day and my co-worker turned to me and said "1989? I wasn't even born yet" I feel old lol
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HAPPY BOSS'S DAY!
I'm lucky to have a good friend for a boss, but I've had a couple really grumpy ones too! Have you ever had the boss from hell--or heaven?
Steve Fox · Friends with Karin Nakamura and 16 othersHappy Boss's day Dana Jang! Jona Denz-HamiltonSteve Fox: You and I shared one of the more clueless bosses back in the mid-'80s--LOL! Susan Dishaw96.9....i had an Angel for a boss and was privileged to work with the finest talent in te business! Jona Denz-HamiltonSusan Dishaw: Do you have pictures from the old days? Dee DouglasMy boss actually introduced me to my husband back in 1998 so it's a toss-up. Sometimes she was from heaven and sometimes from hell, depending on how I feel about my hubby on that day, lol. Steve FoxThat's true. It was an interesting ride back then, but we survived! Marie Therese Theriault-OrtizI've been blessed with a few AWESOME bosses - and one truly awful one. Judy Dallojacono ReedLife is too short to have a boss from hell, that's for sure! So unproductive.....find those boss' from heaven and you have a very productive business! :)Veronika Garciamy previous boss is one of my closest friends. I like my current boss too Sophie Rayway back, one of my x-boy friends, girlfriend-fiance, gave me my first jod when I got married, shes great! but also, my x-boyfriend, her boyfriend-fiance is one of my future boyfriend fiances best friends YEAAAHH
When you watch TV, it can be such a window into pop culture. You can be transported back to the '90s or '80's or waaaaaay back to the Golden Age of television, where it all started. Unless you count RADIO as the beginning, of course! After all, Lucielle Ball got her famous program started on radiowaves!
♥ If you LOVE LUCY! If today were October 15th, 1951, you could turn on CBS tonight and enjoy the debut of a brand new program--that would be making people laugh all around the world for (ever)! How often do you watch an episode?
Dee Douglasi watch the old i love lucy program every night on dish while i'm falling asleep. i have some of the dvd's of her other show, the lucy show, as well :) Bob FreelsI missed the debut by 2 years and 16 days Joseph Mckinneywas born in 58, but yea i watch it when it's on, yes. Sandy ShermanEvery chance I get on MeTV
Trish NietoEverynight before I go to sleep!! never ever get tired of this show. I own the complete series. :)Jona Denz-HamiltonSandy Sherman: My sons are hooked on the old shows on MeTV. They love seeing stars like (Raising Hope's) Cloris Leachman 40 years ago on MTM!
It's great to have fun with your kids--and you appreciate it even more when they still enjoy hanging out with Mom when they're big guys. We have a couple of good things in common--people acting silly and getting silly with animals!
We spent Sunday taking in vintage goofiness at the oldtime Granada Theater in Morgan Hill. It re-opened for the Poppy Jasper Film Festival, and wrapped up with an afternoon of Abbott & Costello and The 3 Stooges. With a theater full of laughing kids, the movies were even funnier!
Town Cats No-Kill Shelter in Morgan Hill held its annual Open House/Supply Drive/Kitty Costume Party Sunday. Both boys help with the kitties as volunteers, and it's great pay-back to see the cats in a festive atmosphere.
Take a look at some of the fun fotos, and maybe YOU'LL want to join too!
The SF Zoo thinks their newborn orange & black monkey is lucky for our GIANTS. Right after her birth, they turned the series around! Help the zoo name her! They have Buster the Penguin, now maybe Posey the Monkey? San Francisco Zoo
