Don’t know about you, but I’ve already eaten way too much candy. Layna from Promotions came over with a Mickey bucket of fun size treats …and I scoured through them for the Skittles..thinking that’s got to be the best of the bunch…True I guess if I ate just one..but I had 4 of those fun sized bags. So here you go…my gift to you…the calorie and exercise count for the most popular goodies.

#1.)  Peanut M&Ms.  One fun size package of them has about 90 calories, which equals about 8 minutes of running, 6 minutes of swimming, 16 minutes on a bike, or 11 minutes lifting weights.
#2.)  Tootsie Rolls.  Five of them equal about 9 minutes of running, 8 minutes of swimming, or 20 minutes on a bike.
#3.)  Three Musketeers.  If you have two fun sized bars, that's 10 minutes of running, or about 22 minutes on a bike.
--It's about the same if you have about 20 pieces of Candy Corn . . . which would be A LOT of them considering how AWFUL they are.
#4.)  Starburst.  Eight of them have 160 calories, or around 12 minutes of running, or 28 minutes on a bike.
--Or if you have just TWO fun sized SnickersTwixAlmond Joys, or Mounds bars, it's about the same.
#5.)  Butterfingers.  Two of the small ones pack about 170 calories, which would equal a 13-minute jog, a 12-minute swim, 30 minutes on a bike, or 20 minutes lifting weights.
#6.)  Hershey's Kisses.  If you have 10, that's over 200 calories and 12 grams of fat . . . or 16 minutes of running, 14 minutes of swimming, or 35 minutes on a bike.
#7.)  Kit Kats.  Two fun sized bars have 210 calories and 11 grams of fat, which equals about 16 minutes on a treadmill, or 37 minutes on bike.
--A Halloween-sized bag of Sour Patch Kids also has about 210 calories.
#8.)  Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.  If you have five of the MINI ones, that's about 220 calories, which means a 17-minute jog, a 15-minute swim, 39 minutes on a bike, or 26 minutes lifting weights.

You can thank me later!!!!
Tomorrow we start talking about pumpkin pie!!!

Thank you Women’s Day (and yes I get this magazine) for putting together a list of the 7 worst Halloween candies for kids.  Talk about ruining all the fun!!! I never pay attention to these things…just like I always ignored the soccer coach when he “recommended” no donuts for the Saturday morning snack…or the 3rd grade teacher who preferred no cupcakes for birthdays… Don’t tell Michelle Obama but I think kids should get to be kids at times..and sometimes those times mean yummy snacks!!!

But if you do pay attention to such worries…LOL
Here are the 7 candies that happen to be the most delicioyus..but are probably wrong for the kids. (not wrong for you though if you want to take them out of their bag tomorrow nite)

#1.)  Snickers.  The main reason they're bad is the caramel, which gets stuck in their teeth and causes cavities.  That's one reason 3 Musketeers are a better choice.  Plus, they have fewer calories.
--Skittles also tend to stick to teeth and cause more cavities than other types of candy.

#2.)  Reese's Peanut Butter Pumpkins.  One of them has as many calories as two normal Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.  One regular cup has 88 calories.  One Peanut Butter Pumpkin has 180.

#3.)  Candy Corn.  It's worse than most other types of candy, because it's nothing but sugar, artificial coloring, and artificial flavors.
--Things like Snickers and Peanut Butter Pumpkins at least have peanuts or peanut butter in them, which means they have SOME protein.  But candy corn is just 100% bad for you.

#4.)  Tootsie Pops.  Actually, ANY kind of lollipop is bad for your kid's teeth, simply because they take so long to eat.  Most types of candy only stay in your mouth for a few seconds.  But lollipops can take five or ten minutes to finish.
--That can also be a GOOD thing though, because it prevents them from just shoveling candy bar after candy bar into their mouth.

#5.)  Starburst.  Each piece is about 15 calories, which isn't that bad.  But they're loaded with fat and sugar.  In fact, ten Starbursts have about the same amount of sugar as five-and-a-half SUGAR PACKETS.

--Plus, just like caramel, they tend to stick to your teeth longer than other types of candy.

#6.)  Sour Patch Kids.  Again, they stick to your teeth and cause cavities.  But they also have high levels of acid in them, which breaks down your enamel and causes even MORE cavities.

#7.)  Fun Dip.  If you don't remember, it's basically a hard white stick of sugar that you dip into MORE sugar.  So it's pretty obvious why it's bad for you.  One serving has 50 calories, and sometimes one package has three servings in it.

Now that you’ve read this you can forget all about it!!!!.

Here come the holidays…
Said to Sam yesterday at Haunt the Hollow at Happy Hollow Park and Zoo…this is it…
One event after another now…boom boom boom.
I had stopped at CVS in the morning to pick up a few things and someone in line was buying a Christmas wreath. I don’t know why. It wasn’t on sale yet.

But isn’t it true..after Halloween, were into the holidays big time and everything happens so quickly. Sam and I will be at Santana Row November 13th for the tree lighting.
Thanksgiving is early…the 22nd and on the 23rd the downtown Ice Rink opens. We’ll do our Friday show …Black Friday…at the Great Mall in Milpitas which is where we were next year.  December 8th is our annual Stuff the Bus for Toys for Tots…Even before that we’ll be here and there handing out our KBAY Holiday CDs… Yes..tis the season!!! Ho Ho Ho…

Are you up for it? We are. This is actually my favorite time of the year…
Love the Christmas music, the shopping, the crowds, and just the merriment!!!
Hope we run into each other…

Still looking for a costume you can throw together for this weekend?
Here are 5 last minute and very topical Halloween costumes.

#1.)  HONEY BOO BOO.  Get a bright pink tutu, a curly blonde wig, and a lot of makeup.
#2.)  PSY.  Even if you don't have a bright-colored suit you can pull this off.  Just wear ANY suit, a black bowtie, and sunglasses.  And get ready to do the "Gangnam Style" dance with the 500 other people dressed as Psy.
#3.)  CLINT EASTWOOD.  Wear a suit, hike up your pants, spray your hair gray, and carry a chair around.  Plus that way you'll have a seat at all times.
#4.)  "MAGIC MIKE".  If you can pull it off . . . do it.  If some of your friends can pull it off and you can't, go as a stripper who hasn't stripped yet.
#5.)  ENDEAVOUR SHUTTLE TRANSPORT.  Paint a refrigerator box white, strap it to your back, and walk around bumping it into things because it's way too wide to fit anywhere.

You can thank us Monday!!!!! LOL!!BTW…we want pictures if you try any of these!!!!

Elizabeth Taylor-$210 million
Michael Jackson- $145 million
Elvis Presley-$55 million
Charles Schultz- $37 million
Bob Marley- $17 million
John Lennon-$12 million
Marilyn Monroe-$10 million
“Dr. Seuss”-Theodor Geisel- $9 million

Were you responsible for any of this income? What did you buy?

The fun things Sam and I get to do…
Sunday is our annual Haunt the Hollow at Happy Hollow Park and Zoo in San Jose. Been  doing this for years….from 1-4…handing out candy to the cutest of kids....If you’ve never taken your kids..its safe trick or treating…and there are candy stations all over the park…one of them of course KBAY’s. We do the show out there…and we too get dressed up although I will admit our costumes , while timely, are sort of weak for this year… Giants Jerseys.

And tomorrow Sam and I are serving at the annual Be Our Guest Luncheon…benefitting the Silicon Valley Council of Non Profits. Hopefully our tables will be generous with the tips. No one pours water like I do!!!! And no one can juggle plates like Sam can. And we’re both decorating pumpkins that will be the centerpieces and then sold. Sam hasn’t decided what to do with his yet…I’m making mine a “princess” complete of course with a crown and pink tule skirting. And yes…the pumpkin is even pink.

Before you know it ..it will be time for our Black Friday show at the Great Mall and then our Stuff the Bus for Toys for Tots!!!

Like I said….the fun things Sam and I get to do!!!!

Always wonder how many people really buy their perfume because a celebrity is doing the commercials. Teenagers and young women yes…but people our age? LOL!!! I’ve been wearing Estee Lauder’s Pleasures all my adult life…and when I started I don’t think there was a famous person hawking it.. Although I think I did buy White Diamonds because of Elizabeth Taylor.

Is Chanel getting their 7 million dollars worth from Brad Pitt?. I think so…The 4 ads he did, while being panned, have gone viral and everyone is talking about it. 4.6 million hits on Y ou Tube. Saturday night Live did a parody the other night. It is the most talked about ad in recent memory because no one knows what the heck he is talking about but hey does he ever look great!!!

Just wondering if more people are buying Chanel Coco 5. My friend Janette wears it and I remember when I was with her buying it, I was shocked at the price. I think it was $100 and no gift included..LOL!!

SO who uses Coco 5 from Chanel..Is it that expensive..is it worth it and did you go get it after Brad’s commercial?

So are our shoes getting smalleror our feet bigger?
According to a new report by, who else, the National Shoe Retailers Association, our feet are getting bigger. They say the average woman’s foot has grown by over a size the last three decades…In the 70s…the average female foot was a 7.5 and now the most common foot size is somewhere between and 8 and a half and a 9.
I’m still a 7 and a half . Although sometimes I’m a 7 but I’m always afraid to buy the smaller size thinking that can’t be!!!

So why the bigger feet? 2 reasons they say…one were taller (not me) and our feet grow too!! And two, since were heavier that puts more pressure on the feet, flattens out the arches and stretches them out.

So that’s the story on shoes .Why aren’t we wearing the same size clothes? LOL!!! Never mind!!!!

So are you ready for the big change in the Southbay?
Dial Day Saturday. Not sure if the Mercury News is the one who came up with this title. They used it in their headline but it may be part of the commercial we’ve been running for weeks. Either way, starting tomorrow…you’ve got to dial 1 408 and then your 7 digit number. ..and then next month there will be numbers with the 669 area code.

Im thinking we’ll get used to it quickly although I think I’ll need all day to add 408 to all my contact numbers in my cell phone. Am I the only one who never added 408 to my numbers. ..well, its time to clear out my contact list anyway…I probably don’t even talk to half the people anymore..LOL!!!

What else this weekend…the San Jose Earthquakes groundbreaking sounds like fun.
Sunday morning   11:30 at 1125 Coleman Avenue.. They’re trying to break a world record for people participating in a groundbreaking….online registration is closed…but you can download a “walk up invite” at sjearthquakes.com/groundbreaking and bring your own shovel.

And a tradition for me Saturday night and maybe I’ll see you…the annual auction for Presentation High School…

What’s that old saying “you are what you eat”?
Case in point….the story today on your favorite Halloween candy…

If you like Hershey Bars, you’re driven…and don’t get distracted from achieving your goals.
If you like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, you’re reliable and don’t like a lot of bumps in the road of life.  (hmmmmm..Sam was eating those this morning)
They’re also orderly perfectionists who believe in fairness and playing by the rules.

If you like Snickers, you are high spirited. You love life and are flirtatious and theatrical
And if its Kit Kats you prefer, you’re a deep thinker, intelligent and highly logical.

My favorite - Tootsie Rolls… But of course they’re not mentioned in the study.

Your favorite Halloween Candy?
And I’ve got to ask …when you buy candy for Halloween do you buy your favorite or something you don’t like so you wont be tempted to eat it?.

This one just baffles me..and maybe because I am not in my kitchen very often. But a story today that if your iPhone gets destroyed, its probably going to happen at home and its probably your fault. I get that…but they say the kitchen is the place where most cell phone accidents happen. How can that be? Have you ever damaged your phone in the kitchen. What did you do? The only thing I can think of is you drop in a sink full of water..but who even has that. Don’t most of use dishwashers..LOL!!!

The living room is second most common place to break your phone….then the bathroom, the driveway and the bedroom.

And the liquid you’re most likely to spill on your phone is of course water, followed by soda, beer and then coffee and tea.

How many times have you destroyed your cell phone? And just what did you do?
Twice for me…once in the washing machine..and once in the tub while my feet were soaking during a pedicure. And that’s why I have insurance…You too?

Been on San Jose radio, believe it or not, since 1977….
11 years at KLOK …got hired straight out of college..
And I’ve been at KBAY for 25 years this January…And in those 35 years, I have shared everything…my late husband passing the bar exam then came our wedding, eventually 2 babies and just everything that goes along with day to day living. You have heard it all. Took me awhile but I even shared when my husband died although that one took some time. Now I’ve got Tori getting married…Christina is up here teaching school and alas…the latest “reveal”…
8 months ago I finally started dating. The girls forced me. I guess they didn’t want me going to dinner with them for the rest of their lives..LOL!! SO Christina with Tori’s blessing put me online…I wrote the paragraph about me, but she did everything else and unbeknownst to me, she was even e-mailing a couple of people pretending to be me. I threatened to change the password at that point so she stopped…LOL!
Just 4 dates…and then I met Jeff. A lawyer I might add, just like Mike. I guess maybe that’s my comfort zone… but we couldn’t be better suited…there could not be a better match and I am so in love. Been such a great 7 months and I know many more are coming.  And yes..for 7 months now Sam , almost every day has to hear a “Jeff” story.

So once again…you now know all…thanks for letting me share. Isn’t that what Facebook and Radio friends do?!!!

Is this true?...that once you’re married or have been living together for a long time
You care more about sleep than affection.
A new survey that 8 out of ten couples go to sleep without a goodnight kiss. 9 of 10 go to sleep without saying “I love you” and half sleep with their backs to each other…
Yep..its nothing like TV when you fall asleep in each others arms…with the woman’s head on the mans chest..LOL! Although 1% said they did.

Would you care to chime in here….LOL!!!

Who’s planning a wedding? You know I am. Tori is getting married in April…
And what comes after the wedding the honeymoon of course and yes Tori is just like almost every other bride in California….where will she be going? Maui.
Happens to be number 2 on the honeymoon destination list…topped by its neighbor Kauai.
Going down the top ten list for places to honeymoon in America.
3. Napa Valley  4. Charleston , South  Carolina (tell me what’s there?)
5. U-S Virgin Islands, 6 Lanai ( and now you get to share it with Larry Ellison)
7. Monterey 8. Aspen 9. Lake Tahoe 10. Martha’s Vineyard

You can actually go to t he Napa Valley on KBAY. A great weekend getaway to Silverado.. Go to KBAY.Com. If you do win just make sure you kiss goodnight and or say I love you…LOL!!!

Katie Couric has had here talk show how long now?  A month?
I set up a season pass, but I’ve got to admit I rarely watch it. She’s no Oprah…LOL!!!
I don’t know what it is but she just doesn’t do anything for me….which is kind of funny since my friends say my personality is pretty darn close to hers!!!
What do you think of her show…Do you try to watch it as often as you can?

Her ratings are the best for the new crop of talk shows.
Its her, then Steve Harvey, followed by Ricki Lake Jeff Probst and Trisha..
Who in the heck is Trisha?

And Anderson Coopers…new twist on his talk show…where he has co hosts has helped him. His ratings among women 25-54 is up almost 70 percent.

Number one talk show though daytime is still Dr. Phil followed by Live with Kelly and Michael, Dr.Oz, Ellen and Maury. I would have thought Ellen’s numbers were the best…but they’re not.

BTW in terms of all syndicated shows, Judge Judy is still t he highest rated of them all. She has a 6.8 rating. That’s huge!!! Big Bang Theory is the highest rated sitcom in syndication. I would have guessed Friends…but not now at least!!!

Got this survey from Britain this morning… 10 facts about the “average” family. How different are these from your family. I’m guessing 7, 8 are way off the mark…Number one is kind of weird too.. a blue Ford?

#1.)  They drive two cars . . . and one of them is a blue Ford.

#2.)  There are three cell phones in the house . . . and three laptops.

#3.)  The kids go to bed at 8:10 P.M. and the grown-ups go to bed at 11:23 P.M.

#4.)  They wake up at 6:45 A.M. during the week . . . and 7:44 A.M. on weekends.

#5.)  They argue FIVE times a day . . . twice over what to watch on television.

#6.)  They watch five hours and 15 minutes of television a day . . . mostly kid's shows.

#7.)  They spend $130.96 a week on food shopping.

#8.)  They spend two hours and 55 minutes of quality time together each day.

#9.)  The family eats out twice a week.

#10.)  Each month, they have one day trip . . . two walks . . . two trips to visit family or friends . . . and one family bike ride.

Getting overloaded with magazines and catalogues.
Gotta make some time to read them..
But this did catch my eye….from People Stylewatch.

Top fashion shopping tips…
If you love it, buy it in two colors. My motto especially with shoes!!! Sometimes I have three of the same tops, but in different colors or patterns.

Double-Stick tape…prevents wardrobe malfunctions. Too bad Janet Jackson didn’t know this..LOL!!!

Invest in one dress that you always feel good about wearing!!!

Shopping on a budget. Hey who wants to pay full price for anything..I don’t!!! So this is for all of us..

Use the cost-per-wear formula. Anything over $50 should be a classic look that will be around for more than one season.

Shop with a friend.
Choose your shopping buddy wisely…Not good to go with someone who has maxed out credit cards…Go with friends who like to find bargains.

Any other tips ? If not…see you at the mall..

Could there be any worse news than what I saw in the Wall Street Journal?
Starbucks is suffering a shortage of Pumpkin Spice Lattes.
The Journal says the special syrup used to flavor the limited-run drink is going out-of-stock at company cafes across the country. A Starbucks spokesperson denies a widespread shortage of the magic pumpkin potion, but says some locations may be experiencing a "pumpkin emergency" due to infrequent deliveries.

And then there’s this…a new analysis of drive-thrus  at the biggest fast food chains in the U-S found Burger King does the worst job getting your orders right….and they make you wait in line the longest….3 and a half minutes on average. On the plus side and Sam verified this today…they do the best job placing their dumpsters so if you’re in the drive thru line you don’t see them.  Sam says its McDonalds where you are always turning at the dumpster to place your order!!!

What to wear tomorrow? Oh..its Friday…jeans of course!!
Yep..always jeans on Friday but tomorrow when you wear those jeans It could mean money to fight breast cancer. Its the annual Lee Jeans Denim Day.
I happen to own several pair of Lee Jeans…They fit me just perfect..but any brand will do…and even better is going to denimday.com and making a $5 donation to their national fight against breast cancer. Never miss this event and I hope you don’t either….
Get your co workers to participate too… A lot of people register as a team $5 dollars from you and you and you will all of a sudden add up to 3.5 million dollars which is this years goal.. The American Cancer Society will put the money back into community based screening programs…research…and even to families who need some assistance with lodging for instance while loved ones are undergoing treatment…
Lee started this back in 1996 and have raised more than 86 million for the cause…
And with 1 in 8 of women being diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime it’s not just money for “a cause”..it’s
money for “our cause”…
denimday.com……log on now!!

How these silly things get started I don’t know but every Presidential election Family Circle Magazine….which I do get…hosts a cookie contest between the two potential First Ladies. I call it silly but you know what…the magazine has correctly predicted the results of 4 out of 5 elections. I guess this is as scientific as the story the other day from the Halloween stores about political masks…that the candidate with the higher sales…also wins…and right now it is President Obama.

SO back to cookies…Michelle Obama and Ann Romney both gave recipes to the magazine… 9 thousand people voted…and it was close but Michelle’s white and dark chocolate chip cookies beat Ann’s M and M cookies by 287 votes…
Closest cookie election ever..

The last Presidential election….Cindy McCain’s oatmeal-butterscotch cookies beat Michelle’s lemon and orange shortbread cookies but the rumor was McCain cheated by copying her recipe off a Hershey box…

All I can say if any of this really matters in a Presidential election….I’m moving to another country…LOL!!!

Yep..its Breast Cancer Awareness Month…when everything and anything comes up pink…Some complain about the “commercial” aspect…everyone is trying to make a 2 bucks for themselves and 1 buck for agencies fighting Breast Cancer…But I’m okay with it .All these “pink” items bring in a lot of money for retailers but they also bring in money for research and awareness ..

Just look at the NFL..their partnership with the American Cancer Society has made 3 million dollars for the agency…
And who doesn’t love the pink coins for the coin toss….or the pink goal post padding in the end zones….the game balls with pink ribbon decals…and the pink helmet decals, chin straps and shoe laces.

And I love what we came up with on facebook this morning…Get a pink light bulb for your outdoor light at home…Shine it brightly as the White House is doing!!!

But here’s something to do this month that doesn’t cost a dime…and may even save a life…
Rene Syler calls it 5 simple things…

  1. Start doing breast self exams.
  2. Know when to get mammograms
  3. Know your family history
  4. Talk to your teenage daughter
  5. Get involved…spread the word about breast cancer.

We must keep fighting…keep vigilant..and keep supporting each other… as Rene reminds us…Breast Cancer doesn’t mean a death sentence. Early detection saves lives!!!

So isn’t this the time of year…we all start to gain weight?
Should I be correct…LOL!!
Let me share the latest issue of Cosmopolitan

8 diet trucks that don’t involve dieting!!! I knew that would grab you….
  1. Eat more. Eating bigger portions will make you feel fuller longer. Just  fill up on fruits and veggies , not fries and  burgers.
  2.  Read labels. They say you will have a lower BMI overall and weigh about 8 pounds less.
  3. Get Slice-Happy. Cutting up your food seems to make you eat less (huh)
  4. Savor Your Food—Like I did with my Big Mac  . Focus on what you’re eating to get full.
  5.  Listen to Soft Music- They say while eating, it can cut your caloric intake by up to 175 calories per meal.
  6. Don’t skip Meals-
  7. Drink Cold Water. Jennifer Lopez says she does…so that’s good enough for me.
  8. Don’t look at Junk Food. I knew I shouldn’t have read this article..LOL!!!
