Something to share…something to save!!!!
Saw a thing this morning on the best days of the week to do certain things.
And there’s something for almost every day of the week.
The biggest one was for today and unless you heard us this morning at 5 or so you’re already too late but there’s always next week..LOL!! Thursday mornings are the best for having whoopee!!! Apparently our sex hormones are at their peak level Thursday morning..
Tuesdays are the best days to eat out…because restaurants get their shipments of fresh food at the start of the week.
Wednesdays are good for asking for a raise. Managers say they’re most generous that day.
Thursdays…oh we did one already!!
Friday..good day to quit smoking. Your willpower is highest on the weekend. Also a good day to get married. A lot cheaper than Saturday!
Sundays are the day to end your ebay auction.
Saturdays are the best day to have fun. (I made that one up)
And Mondays aren’t apparently any good for anything so I say we cancel those!!!
So here it is…how to figure out if your cat or dog is left or right handed.. And no…we still don’t know why you need to figure this out..but a Vet says it’s good to know…LOL!!!
#1.) Fill a toy with treats, then put it in the center of your pet's field of vision. Which paw does he use to touch it first?
#2.) Put something sticky on their nose and see which paw they use to remove it.
#3.) Put a treat under the sofa just out of their reach, and see which paw they use to try to get it out.
The only problem is the Vet….Dr. Stefanie Schwartz says you need to do these tests 100 TIMES to get a definitive answer, especially with cats who sometimes mess around and use both paws. But if one paw is dominating your results before 100, that's your pet's dominant paw….so I would stop early…LOL!!!
Who’s a fan of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills? It is my favorite of the housewife shows… although Orange County is a close second….but anyway Camille Grammer’s mansion is up for sale. Actually she owns it with her ex husband Kelsey so they will share in the proceeds… They’re not asking much…just 17.9 million dollars..LOL!!!
which is about 3 times what they paid for it.
And what do you get for the 17.9 million dollars in addition to say the show was featured on Real Housewives? 66-hundred feet of living space, including 4 bedrooms, six bathrooms and a kitchen designed by Wolfgang Puck. Apparently Camille was the one Beverly Hills Housewife who actually cooked. You also get a barn with 9 stalls, tennis court and a 12 seat home theatre.
Or you could settle for a home in my neighborhood for 400,000..LOL!!!
4 more days till Labor Day weekend!! That’s a yeah.
So almost September..and isn’t that when regular TV returns?
Other than the Real Housewives and Kardashians..LOL!!!
Haven’t had a chance yet to watch the season finale of Newsroom which next to the Dallas reboot is the best new thing on TV. And when does the Army Wives season come to an end? I think it’s time! And you know what is about to start up? Flipping Out. I love Jeff, and Jen and Zoila!!! I wasn’t thrilled with the last show they did.
And just what is the deal with Idol? Katy Perry supposedly just turned down a $20 million dollar offer to be a Judge. Mariah Carey again breathing a sigh of relief but I guess Nicki Minaj is still breathing down her throat. Latest is AI is offering her 8 million to be a judge plus money for wardrobe, hair and make up….and that Nicole Kidman’s husband Keith Urban is being offered about half of that. OMG…Keith Urban…he doesn’t even have a personality!!! What happened to Brad Paisley? And is Randy Jackson returning as Judge or not?
Yep..I don’t care either. I’ll watch Idol when it comes back on, no matter who is at the Judges table. It’s still my favorite singing competition show!!! What about you?
Am I the only one wondering where summer has gone?
Next weekend is the Labor Day holiday!!!
61 days to the World Series. You think the Giants and or A’s will be in it? How about the Petaluma Nationals..LOL!!!
Never mind that, how about my New York Yankees!!!
68 days to Halloween
74 days to Election Tuesday
Oh..and 19 days to Britney’s ‘X Factor” Debut.
I didn’t watch it last season..but I certainly will this season!!!
3rd week of August and Christina has already finished teaching her first full week of kindergarten…
Remember when school started the day after Labor Day?
Those were the days weren’t they…although we also stayed in school till the end of June.
So I don’t know what’s better…or what’s worse.
And it really doesn’t matter…because life moves on whether we’re ready for it to or not!!!
Now, there’s a thought!!
Happy weekend!!!
Do I break the news to you now or later? Maybe you heard us this morning or maybe you’re living through it right now.
According to a British survey and apparently the Brits are the only ones who do surveys.
The average kid moves back at age 23…and stays for 3 years. One in 4 stay for 5 years and one in 8 stay for …are you ready…10 years. That would be a decade.
Living at home helps adult kids save about $180 a week (yep, obviously Britain)
Plus they get good home cooking…unless as we said this morning its my house..LOL!!!
Living at home is harder for daughters than it is for sons. The women feel like a child again while living at home…but only one in 10 men feel the same way. Could that be because men don’t ever grow up anyway?…OUCH…obviously spoken by a Mom who has daughters and not sons.. Ha ha…I apologize!!!
Interesting talk this morning about this year’s college freshman…and the many things they are too young to know. This year is the class of 2016, and they were born in 1994.
KURT COBAIN,JACKIE O, andRICHARD NIXONhave ALWAYS
been dead.
They've never used an actual airline ticket.
They've never had to carry their luggage, they've always rolled it.
They think ofBILL CLINTONas an elder statesman.
Women have been flying space shuttles and fighter jets the entire time they've been alive.
They've never had to use an encyclopedia.
They've always had BLUE M&Ms . . . and NEVER had tan ones.
They've never known life without the History Channel.
"The Real World"has ALWAYS been on the air.
They knowMIKE MYERSas the voice of"Shrek", not 'Wayne' . . . andEDDIE MURPHYhas always been 'Donkey', not a"Beverly Hills Cop".
Little Caesar's has been doing "Pizza Pizza" for their WHOLE LIFE.
And then we got some add ons from listeners….the Popcorn Time lady on the phone…cassette tape recorders, dial phones….black and white TV’s.
The things you learn….
A study in Wisconsin says married men tend to drink less while married women tend to drink more!!!!
One in 4 have a 45 minute commute to work, each way which means 15 full days a year stuck in traffic…which is about the same time you get for vacation.
Top reasons for being stressed out at work:
We’re not paid enough
We’re irritated by our co workers.
We hate our commute
We feel the work is unreasonable.
As Sam said to me this morning…3 out of 4 ain’t bad!!! Hmmmmmm…..
And finally…found out this morning Clint Eastwood wants to remake A Star is Born perhaps starring Beyonce and Bradley Cooper and they’re remaking Annie. That one will star Emma Thompson who is now writing the script. Annie may be played by Will Smith’s daughter Willow. http://www.facebook.com/SamVanZandtKBAY

Tears at Work…..I am guilty. And over the years I’ve always told my daughters don’t cry at work… Makes you look weak…(and bad LOL)…but I’ve got to admit…I don’t practice what I preach although I haven’t cried at work in at least a year.. I think it was last October. LOL!!! In fact, we have a joke here at the radio station. When I’m told the Boss wants to talk me to I always say “ Do I need to bring in my box of Kleenex” and I always wait to get the yes or no!!!
Saw in Redbook that you should do whatever you can not to cry at work…
Even if it means saying “Excuse me, I need a moment” They say most bosses still see crying as a sign of weakness and immaturity and the inability to keep your feelings in check will undermine peoples perception of you. http://www.facebook.com/SamVanZandtKBAY

I hope we’re not too late with this. The top rip-offs when you go on vacation. There’s still a little time left to go on vacation. Labor Day is 2 Mondays from now. These are the most obvious rip-offs.
1. Cell phone roaming charges. I lucked out in Cabo. I forgot to shut my phone off but my roaming charges still only added up to 6 dollars. Thanks to the fact most everyone knew I was on vacation so didn’t call or text.
2. Bad Currency conversion rates.
3. Crazy ATM fees. Hey, that can happen here!!!
4.Food and drinks at tourist attractions
5. Gift shop crap. Probably the worst one..wouldnt you say? Especially hotel gift shop crap!!
Okay, so what did I forget. Go ahead add to the list.
Top Rip-offs on vacation…. (fill in the blank)!!!
Annual ritual on this date—August 16th— The anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death. 35 years now!!! You watch the TV news tonite and you’ll see the tens of thousands who every year meet at Graceland!!!
Forgot all about this…that 20 years ago today J-C Penney unveiled a new cologne called Elvis. Came in a clever, pizza shaped decanter and smelled like peanut butter and nana sandwiches. Now how did I miss that!! Guess it didn’t sell!!
But I also saw these trivia facts this morning that are pretty amazing --Records sold: More than one billion. --Number of gold, platinum or multi-platinum albums: 63
--Number of #1 pop singles: 18
--Number of people who tuned in to the 1973 special "Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii, via satellite: 1.5 billion
--Number of Elvis stamps printed to date: 500 million
--Number of Elvis fan clubs at the time of Presley's death: 65
--Number of active Elvis fan clubs today: 625
I hope you never have to go through this but if a burglar were to break into your home what would he get away with. But did you see the list in the Mercury News this morning
of what a burglar recently took from Steve Jobs’ home?

· 1 iMac with power cable
· 1 Mac Mini with SD card and ethernet cable

Just another sign summer is over. I was in the bookstore yesterday…yes there are still a few of them around. In fact, I find it amazing that a huge bookstore has opened in Oakridge Mall…and everytime I walk by, it’s got quite a few people in it.
Back to my story…. So here I am in the bookstore and there are a bunch of kids trying to buy their summer reading books. No time like now I guess.
Did that bring back memories…My girls would always wait to the last minute to read their three books saying if they read them earlier they would forget the info by the time they took the test. That was a good point…Couldn’t really argue with that.
Which is why I loved today’s story on a high school kid on Yahoo Answers who asked people to write a book report for him, since he hadn’t done his summer reading. He got a response the very next day…from the books author. The guy gave him a “what for” ,encouraged him to give the book a try, and even gave him an exclusive tip for his book report. Also told him he could listen to it on Books on Tape.
Is it too late to warn you about fashion no-nos for the summer?
Lets see if I have these right?
1.Socks & Sandals. 2. High Fashion Bathing Suits. If your bikini costs $800 and you're afraid to get it wet, then why buy it?.
3. Exposed Bra Straps. 4. Baby String Bikinis. 5. Mixed Season Trends. Skirts and UGGS aren't where it's at. 6. Super Short Shorts. 7. The Wrong Type/Color Underwear. Your black undies peeking out beneath white pants is not good. 8. Too Much Skin, All At Once. Showing off your sexy legs? Then put "the girls" away, 9. Short-Sleeve Button-Down Shirt. This doesn't look good from 9-5, think "Dwight Schrute" from "The Office." 10. Unmanicured Feet and Hands. You can find a find a good mani-pedi for just 25-bucks (so they say..LOL) and by the way, guys? Pampering isn't just for the fairer sex, anymore.
I’ve kept quiet on the “firing” of Ann Curry…although can you call it firing when you’re still getting paid something like $14 million dollars…and you’re still not sure for what?
I admit I was never a fan…although I did meet her once and she was very nice, but I never thought she was right for the Today job next to Matt Lauer…I never got a warm, fuzzy or bubbly feeling from her.
Ladies Home Journal has an interview with her in the August issue and she said part of the reason she was fired is because she refused to dye her hair and producers hated her clothing choices. She said the bosses were always on her for her on-camera look:
--"One day I wore a multicolored dress and someone asked if I was trying to be Toucan Sam. But I chose it because I thought, ‘This will perk up America.’”
--She said she wore “these ridiculously high-heeled shoes because women say, 'I love your shoes!' So if it makes women happy, I'll wear them. But I'm still going to be me... I've tried to wear clogs and flats on TV and it hasn't gone well with my bosses...
Although I did like this. “I've decided not to buy into the idea that I want to stop aging. My wrinkles connect me to my family, to my ancestors and to my future… I've got cellulite because it runs in my family. I've got gray hair because I won't dye it. ... But I don't want to change the fundamental parts of me because it means changing who I am".
All I can say is Ann Curry move on!!!! That’s what we do in life…
If you’re like me and you eat out a lot…this may make you think twice
Next time you look at the menu…No, not talking about how full of germs the menu is but what’s on the menu and for what price.
4 things restaurants charge way too much for other than soda and coffee!!!
Wine…almost always marked up by at least 200 %
But this was surprising….The second cheapest wine is actually marked up the most because a lot of people think if they order the CHEAPEST wine…they’ll look like a cheapskate.
Pasta…You can buy a box of pasta in the store for 2 bucks…serves 4-6.. An average pasta dish at a restaurant costs anywhere from $8-$18. Must be the sauce..LOL!!!
Pizza….Same as pasta. The dough is mainly flour and water…so again the sauce and Pepperoni must be really expensive…
Keep in mind Little Caesars sells pizza for 5 bucks and they still make a profit.
Add-ons..meaning appetizers, side orders and desserts. They’re really overpriced and half the time you don’t even want them but the waiter starts talking about them and you can’t resist.
You may need to read this one twice. I did. It’s like one of those trick math questions but once you figure it out it does make sense. And I think we all fall for it when we go grocery shopping…
According to a new study in the "Journal of Marketing", about three-quarters of us probably overpay for groceries . . . because we can't solve the following math problem:
--Would you rather buy something where you get 50% MORE for the regular price . . . or buy the regular quantity at 50% off?
--73% of people in the study chose the first option, and bought the product that offered 50% more. But . . . that deal is actually WORSE. Here's why . . .
--Let's say we're dealing with 10 bananas for $5. In the first option, you'd get 50% MORE for the regular price . . . or 15 bananas for$5. That's 33 cents per banana.
--In the second option, you buy the regular quantity at 50% OFF, so you'd get 10 bananas for $2.50 . . . or 25 cents per banana.
--In fact, even if the discount was only 35% instead of 50%, you'd STILL be better off taking the discount than buying the extra quantity.
--It's because we've been trained to want BONUSES over DISCOUNTS. So we want the larger quantity even when it's a worse deal.
Are you watching the Olympics?
Which group are you..?
Almost half tune in a few times each of the 2 weeks.
6% only catch the events when they’re in a bar.22% watch the competitions all day, every day. And about 1 in 4 isn’t watching at all.
I’m somewhere in between…and truly won’t mind when they end on Sunday.
They play havoc with my regular programming..LOL!!! ie..Big Brother, the Kardashians and the Real Housewives.
You know who is watching the Olympics….females 12-17…yep teen girls!!!
Ratings soared the first week…and were 50 percent higher than the last Olympics in Beijing. Why? Gabby Douglass and our Gymnastics Team…and all the hunky shirtless guys in the pool. Hey..I’ve watched a few of those races too!!!
I like what NBC is comparing it to.... the female ratings are 90% higher than for Glee…which is the number one prime time network show for that age group…and
171% higher than the number of teens who have shopped at Abercrombie and Fitch the last 3 months. Good one!!! http://www.facebook.com/SamVanZandtKBAY
http://www.facebook.com/KBAYlissa#!/KBAYlissa
This is always great to read…that you should wear gloves the next time you go out to eat. Yet another study that germ-a-phobics need not read..LOL!!!
That waiters never wipe down the menus between customers or...... salt and pepper or…… bottles of ketchup and mustard. They sent a team of scientists to 12 restaurants and found menus carried the most germs, with an average count of 185,000 bacteria—nearly 16 times that of the second most germ-infested item, pepper shakers.
Hey..I just thought of something…a new condiment container for the table…hand sanitizer. Not a bad idea!!!
You’re welcome!!!

OK..my fellow cat lovers. Is this really true…that you can train your cat to use the toilet?
According to animal experts toilet training a cat isn’t that hard. Some cats they say learn in as little as three weeks, but most need at least a couple of months. I don’t believe it…yes my cat Tobey Tobes loves the toilet but to drink out of. Not once has he stuck his butt over it. But you tell me..is your cat toilet trained?
They say the key is patience, persistence and two bathrooms!!
Now here’s a tidbit I did know…and in part because I’m guilty!!
7 out of 10 women often delay going to the bathroom…and why?
Because we’re too busy!!!
Doctors say its not good….that you put unneeded and unhealthy pressure on your bladder and kidneys. Thus…the bladder and or kidney infection!!!!
You ever have your name posted on a stadium or arena scoreboard...
Like a happy birthday or anniversary message? I remember we had a suite at HP –a Sharks game – for Tori’s birthday and paid I think an extra $25 to have her name listed.
She loved it….And for Sam and his wife –Carol’s anniversary last year …They wen t to New York and Carol had it on the jumbotron. But she knew when it was going to play so she made sure Sam didn’t leave his seat…which obviously wasn’t the case at the Chicago Cubs game the other day. Greg paid the money to propose to his girlfriend on the big screen. Will you marry me? was flashed on the scoreboard…in the middle of the game. The only problem Erica wasn’t there…she had gone to the bathroom. Luckily she came back with some beer for Greg…so he proposed anyway…ha ha..
When she returned he dropped down and proposed right there…without the scoreboard.
She said yes…SCORE!!!!
Cute story!!! You have one too?
Do share… I love this kind of stuff!!!
