Annual ritual on this date—August 16th— The anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death. 35 years now!!! You watch the TV news tonite and you’ll see the tens of thousands who every year meet at Graceland!!!
Forgot all about this…that 20 years ago today J-C Penney unveiled a new cologne called Elvis. Came in a clever, pizza shaped decanter and smelled like peanut butter and nana sandwiches. Now how did I miss that!! Guess it didn’t sell!!
But I also saw these trivia facts this morning that are pretty amazing --Records sold: More than one billion. --Number of gold, platinum or multi-platinum albums: 63
--Number of #1 pop singles: 18
--Number of people who tuned in to the 1973 special "Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii, via satellite: 1.5 billion
--Number of Elvis stamps printed to date: 500 million
--Number of Elvis fan clubs at the time of Presley's death: 65
--Number of active Elvis fan clubs today: 625
