Are you a good speller? I think I am. At least I was in
school when we used to have weekly spelling contests.
But maybe that was because I always studied. Come watch me try to spell Saturday night.
I’m the special guest speller at the Montgomery Theater in downtown San Jose when the Children’s Musical Theater goes on stage with “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. My friends went last year and said it is a great show…lots of fun… It runs through this weekend, but I want you to get your tickets for Saturday night so I have a cheering section, because without you I have a feeling I will not be going home with the trophy—LOL. Actually, I think even with you I won’t be going home with the Spelling trophy-ha ha. You can get your tickets by calling 408 792-4111 or go to www.cmtsj.org.
I think the show starts at 7. Remember..kids are the stars..ages 14-20. You can make a night of it. Dinner before, Dessert After!!!
Sam and I were talking about Facebook this morning. They say if more companies would ban people from using it at work…productivity would increase by 15 percent. Can understand. People were calling in that they check it every hour or 4 times a day and usually at work, but not always. Some companies don’t allow it. Lisa…A realtor from Morgan Hill said they can go on at work, but can’t play games and that’s what she likes.
Scrabble is her favorite. I’m guessing her favorite scrabble word is “realtor”. How many points would that be? But as one Facebook friend said..it is truly her addiction. She’s got an Iphone which makes the addiction even easier. She checks Facebook at least 4 times a day. I tend to stay off of Facebook when I’m home. It’s mainly an at work thing for me. Sam checks it though at home and on weekends. I use that time to watch TV.LOL.
My favorite call was from a woman who wanted to know what Facebook was. LOVE IT!!!!
Facebook is what got Betty White on Saturday Night Live. Yes, she has confirmed that she will be appearing on an upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live. 485,000 people have become a fan of Betty White to Host SNL(please?). It started soon after her great commercial ran during the Super Bowl. There was talk that since she was 88, she would have to share the co hosting duties—maybe during a Women of Comedy’ Episode, but SNL boss Lorne Michaels has reportedly denied that. I just love Betty’s comment…
“I don’t know why or how…but it’s wonderful”… And yes it is!!!!!!

So a few parting remarks on the Oscars…
Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin were great…just enough to make us realize we liked then…..we really liked them. Don’t know if it’s true….but one gossip page says ABC looked over their stuff before time and deleted all their Tiger Woods jokes.
Oprah looked absolutely beautiful…and like she had shed 50 pounds on the flight from Chicago.
·Barbara Streisand looked gorgeous. That was a beautiful outfit and for a change she didn’t have her neck covered. Must have gone to Morphosis -LOL
·Listening to pre-show interviews….makes you realize how great Ryan Seacrest is at what he does. Almost everyone else stunk…and asked either the obvious or stupidest questions, although Sheri from the View wasn’t bad.
·George Clooney is the dreamiest guy in Hollywood and he didn’t really seem that interested in his girlfriend. Ha ha
·Sandra Bullocks acceptance speech was great—just wish she would have called her Mom “Mom” rather than by her first name. For a minute, I didn’t know who she was talking about.
·Jeff Bridges’ speech was also great and heartwarming, but didn’t he seem stoned.
·When Mo’Nique gave her acceptance speech, all I could think about were her hairy legs..and that she said her husband in their open marriage had cheated on her often!!!
·Seeing Ed Asner every time Up received an award, reminded me of how he looked so like his animated character in the movie.
· Mariah Carey on the Red Carpet appeared drunk. J-L0’s dress looked great on her, but come on…..didn’t it look like she in “bubble wrap”
·Sarah Jessica Parker looked haggard and worn….I liked her dress, but Matthew Broderick when he is standing next to her looks so like the bored husband.
·And your thoughts? Ha ha ha ha…Seriously….Sam and I always feel bad the morning after the Oscars…We love to talk about it but no one calls on the phone with their two cents….which is so strange because when we get off the air and I walk to the other side of the building, everyone’s got something to say.
I like that Dancing with the Stars has picked Brooke Burke to replace Samantha Harris. I personally think Samantha was forced out…Come on admit it….she bugged you too….Brooke will be great…and obviously she is off the new Melrose Place . Her husband on the show was put in jail, so I figured she was going to be written out. I wonder if that show will make it past this season anyway. The ratings are terrible. It’s been off for so long but I think like Gossip Girl…it is starting up again this week. In fact, if you watch Life Unexpected, it goes to 8 tonite so Gossip Girl can be on at 9. We’ve got to keep that show on the CW. It is so good….but I’m not sure it’s been renewed yet for the new season. I think they’re deciding between that and One Tree Hill. Send them an e mail…..tell them you love Life Unexpected.
If you’re a Michael Buble fan, be ready to call us tomorrow morning at 7:20. We’ve got tickets to his April concert. You’ll have to sing for them though, if you get through….
We’ve got them all week.

Two words…COOKIE TIME!!! Yep..the Girl Scouts are finally out this weekend
selling cookies.. You may already have yours from pre-ordering, but this is the time I used to love when I was the troop cookie mom….Handling the “booth sales”. It’s so fun to be with these girls for a few hours straight and everyone who comes up to the table to buy is always so darn nice.. It’s just a happy time….You can’t miss with Girl Scout cookies, although I wish they would put more of them in a box—ha ha.
We had a darling girl on this morning Jenevieve from a troop in Willow Glen…Only 8 years old and she knew how to talk and how to sell. She herself ( or maybe her Mom) sold 300 boxes. Her troop this weekend is going to be outside the Starbucks and also outside the Wells Fargo Bank and the Ace Hardware ..She was so cute when I asked what her troop was going to do with the money they make from the cookies…..endangered elephants and Haiti quake victims…and oh…yes a camping trip for the girls..
By the way….if you don’t want cookies, you can tell the girls to send them to the troops and they will. I’ll say it again. Girl Scout cookie time is just a great time of the year!!!!!
What an ending to the Orange County Housewives… Please don’t tell me I’m the only one who watches. Didn’t see the season premiere of the New York Housewives…as I switched over to Idol. How many seasons now…9..10. I still can’t get over those opening group numbers…They are the worst….reminds me of Up with People…although at least they always sounded okay…It’s painful….And then Haeley Vaughn’s good by song last nite…OMG…was it not the worst!!!!
Got to admit though, I would be bawling if I were the one getting kicked off. I don’t know how they’re not. I think there was one season where the girl was sobbing. That would have been me.
Hope you have a great weekend planned. Sam has one more birthday day to celebrate…tomorrow. That’s his real birthday. He said no matter what he was going to Denny’s to get his free Grand Slam. But that his wife-Carol- most likely would refuse to
go with him LOL. SO if you’re at a Denny’s Saturday and see a good looking guy sitting all by himself chowing down a Grand Slam..that’s Sam!!!! Sunday he’ll be at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds from 2-4 for the California Home, Garden and Patio Show.
I’ve got the opening Friday from 12-2. Sure would love to see you.
And come Monday….let us know what you thought about the Oscars. It will be either great with Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin or it will stink. Duh. Baldwin is funny. I saw him the other night on Marriage Ref and he was the one with all the great one liners and funny quips. Made Jerry Seinfeld sound not so funny. The host is pretty good too. I watched it when it was half an hour. It’s now an hour and I think that’s way too long.

Hope today’s day of protest at schools, and colleges does something for public education…The entire system is just a mess, and think about it, education is our most important asset. And no one in Sacramento seems to get it. A mom called this morning in the Cambrian School District…said everyone was wearing pink today… (pink slips)
I just hope when Christina graduates with her teaching credential next year she can find a job. At least she will have a degree. Somehow even with all the budget/classroom cuts, she should graduate on time. Although they don’t make it easy. She had to register for the new quarter yesterday down at Cal Poly …hit the “send” button with all of her classes and found out she was on a “hold”. I owed another 170 dollars. Somewhere along the way after I had paid her tuition for the new quarter, which is already up 32 percent, they imposed yet another fee increase. Now come on, for 170 dollars, they weren’t going to let her register. I can understand if I hadn’t paid the 1600 tuition but this new fee…They’re obviously hard up for money. Anyway…out came the credit card and within an hour she was good to go.
You think this is true? They say after Disney released the animated movie “The Princess and the Frog” in November at least 50 little girls got Salmonella after watching the movie and kissing a frog. That can’t be.
Thank goodness Rob Lowe is getting a new TV gig. Yeah..this is his last season on Brothers and Sisters. They say he wanted out. I just hope they don’t kill him off. They’ve been hinting on the show he’s getting a new job..so maybe he will just disappear.
Anyway…he’s reportedly near a deal with the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation.
I think his forte is drama not comedy, but heck he’s so good looking, it doesn’t really matter.
Speaking of good looking and I do think Simon Cowell is …I’m wondering what’s going on with his chest this season. Almost looks like he had boob job and boy is he orange…
Too much spray tanning. But look at him tonite. Something’s weird under the neck. Ha Ha . I guess his new girlfriend…one of the Idol make up artists is having an impact on him. Instead of t-shirts every show, he now often wears a white shirt with fancy stitching.
Hope Sam is having a good time skiing….He’s taken a couple days off to celebrate his
Birthday…yep…he keeps having them…. He’s way ahead of me on that count. LOL

You ever read that book “Who Moved My Cheese”? I once had a boss who
was about to make some big changes at the station and had us all read it.
I told him I read it but never did, and probably should have as I hate change, even small change.
Case in point. I was at Macy’s the other day, buying Sam’s birthday gift.
Yes, his big day is Saturday but he’s taking a couple of days off, so I shopped early. I got him a golf shirt and a wallet. (he loved them by the way) I took them to gift wrap and saw the big sign…Starting March 2nd, there would be no more gift wrap at Macys. It is being replaced with self-wrap boxes and paper. I got so upset. The reason why I spend so much at Macys, enough to get that black card, is because I get free wrap and I have all my gifts wrapped. Okay, it's just one reason. I love Macys no matter what, but I have always loved giving people gifts professionally wrapped… They look so greatr. I was so bummed out…and still am. They sent out a bunch of coupons to buy the ready made wrapped boxes and even a $25 coupon but its not the same. So you know what I did?
I took my calendar, went back the next day and bought several birthday gifts that will keep me covered through April and had them all wrapped. I showed them…..LOL
But isn’t that crummy news?….I loved the gift wrap at Macys…especially since I got it for free…ha ha.. Not sure why they’re getting rid of it..I will sure miss it. It was a great customer service. Oh well…as they say….
Hey..this is a good one…Sam and I were talking about no cuss week….
And what you can say instead of cussing… He says Godfrey Daniel…
I say Jiminy Cricket…..Linda called. When she gets mad enough to swear she says “shut the front door”…. Love it!!!!!!
Boy..I am so out of it this season with American Idol. Sam’s finally watching at least some of it…but I am so bored. And these 2 hour shows are killers. Where is all this great talent they were bragging about?. And yes, Ellen is loosening up, but there’s just something missing this year. The spark is apparently gone….. Oh Well…..(lol)

Okay…we shall move on from Bachelor Jake and Vienna…
At least until Dancing with the Stars begins…
Yes, if you missed the cast of Dancing here it is:
PAMELA ANDERSON,
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver CHAD OCHOCINCO,
"All My Children's" AIDEN TURNER,
ESPN hottie ERIN ANDREWS,
Former "Beverly Hills 90210" star SHANNEN DOHERTY
80-year-old former astronaut BUZZ ALDRIN (“the original moonwalker”),
“Reno 911” star NIECY NASH (currently on "The Insider"),
Pussycat Doll's NICOLE SCHERZINGER,
Olympic gold medalist EVAN LYSACEK,
KATE GOSSELIN, “
and "The Bachelor," JAKE PAVELKA.
Supporting cast: Vienna…Yes she will be in the front row all season long
Unless they break up before then (which is doubtful)
Still don’t know who will replace Samantha Harris as co-host. Maybe they’ll save that for opening night in 3 weeks.
I think they might have offered the job to Paula Abdul, but she apparently is waiting in the wings for Simon Cowell’s new show the X-Factor. By the way, he really did get engaged last month to one of the make up artists from Idol. That girl he dated for years from Extra must be livid. Plus he gave his fiancé a 6 carat 750 thousand dollar engagement ring. UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!!!
Saw this in Women’s Day… What makes Mom’s very happy?
A third said “Me” time
Children came in second, followed by friends, faith and marriage. Only 3 percent said their jobs. Now those 3 percent need to quit, don’t you think?
And I guess this is called gossip… 4 out of 5 conversations that we have are about someone who is not present…
Friday night, I drove up to Walnut Creek and had dinner at one of Sam and his wife-Carol’s favorite places. Bing Crosby’s. Reminded me of the Brown Derby and along the walls these great booths with high backs that must make you feel like a star if you get one. We did not…anyway..great food, but you know what my complaint was…It was so dark at our table and in the room I could barely read the menu. So I just guessed at what I wanted..good guess though…the steak was deleeeeeicious!!!!
Wherever I go, I hear people talking about Cirque du Soleil’s new show “Ovo”.
If you haven’t gone yet, be listening at 7:20 this week, we’ve got tickets to give away.

Can’t believe this is the last weekend in February. Where did the month go…where has the year gone? Can we slow things down a little….Before you know it…it will be time for spring cleaning.. Yep..I do it. Do you? I get out the extra can of paint in the garage and do touch-ups on my walls. I straighten out the closets (again) and the garage. That one is a major project.. When Mike died and I moved from the big house to the 1500 square foot town house, I somehow crammed into my garage all the stuff that just refuses to go away…the 5 sets of golf clubs, the bikes that no one rides. Mike’s things that we can’t bear to part with…the Harley lamp and clock, the law school diplomas, the cowboy hats, all his hockey gear..and then there’s the kids stuff…the bins of dancing outfits, costumes, all of their school junk..I mean stuff….the bins of pictures…and then came all of the college stuff….and on and on . Anyway..I’ve decided this spring is when were going to get rid of a lot of the stuff….Tori’s decided we’ll set up shop at the Flea Market some Saturday morning…so that our stuff can end up as someone else’s stuff!!!!
So Monday’s March First…you ever look at the Farmers Almanac? There is a lot going on…starting with Beer Day…..and better yet Pig Day. Then you’ve got Red Cross Month. Caffeine Awareness Month. National Talk with your Teen About Sex Month. Mental Retardation Awareness Month. National Craft Month, National Frozen Food Month (every month is Frozen Food Month for me) …and then you’ve got the special weeks… Consumer Protection, Ghostwriters, Words Matter , Write A Letter of Appreciation Week, ,Return The Borrowed Books , World Folk Tales and Fables Week, Celebrate Your Name , National Professional Pet Sitters , National Sleep Awareness Week, Save Your Vision Week, and Telecommuter Appreciation Week. Like I asked…do you ever look at the Farmers Almanac?
My head is spinning too…Have a great weekend!!!!
Just be ready to go at 6:30 Monday morning with Too Early To Think.
We have more gift cards to give away next week from El Pollo Loco.

Let’s compare our Idol picks….Sam thinks the two girls who go home tonite will be Ashley Rodriguez and Hayley Vaughn. I say Hayley and Lacey Brown. For the boys; he says Lee Dewyze and John Park . I say Tim Urban (definitely) and John…although I think Jermaine Sellers also has a shot at being the other “evicted” singer.
Can’t believe we have to go through with this male-female sing off for two more weeks.
These 2 hour shows are killers…but they’ve got to get down to the top 12 (6 girls, 6 boys) Maybe by then…we’ll be used to Ellen.
I never like it when I see parents holding their kids by a leash….
I understand the purpose…to keep your toddler from wandering off but it just seems so wrong. That’s why kids and adults have hands so you can hold em!!!!
Here’s another idea ,weird if you ask me….but it may work. You put a temporary tattoo on your child. There’s a company called Leaps and Bounds and they sell Safety Tats…temporary tats that have a spot where you can write your cell phone number. I’m not sure I want my child running around with our phone number on
They’ve also got special tattoos to use if your child has autism or a peanut allergy.
Now…this is something I know about….using make up that is past its use by date.
I’ve done it before. Nothing has happened, but when I told the clerk at Macys she almost had a coronary….She said it’s so bad for your skin….Apparently everyone does it though. One in 4 they say…and with make up that is four years past its use by date.
As the clerk said….you wouldn’t eat moldy or bacteria ridden food…
And the same standards apply to lotions and potions we put on our skin…
Just when was the last time you looked for an expiration date on your foundation….Bet you do today…..I guess beauty is timeless…but products are not…
This is a great idea….Nippon Airlines is going to have a bathroom on its international flights for women only….I hate going into airline bathrooms….they’re always yucky…but this might help… because as you know men tend to leave the seat up plus they always have terrible aim LOL!!!!!
My commercials are true..I do love El Pollo Locco….and I do go there a lot…
And I can’t help passing this one along… Chili’s Texas Cheese Fries with Jalapeno Ranch have been named the worst fries in America for your health.. with 1920 calories, 147 grams of fat and 3580 milligrams of sodium. Chili’s says this is so misleading…because those fries are meant to be shared with friends ….like your new friends….the paramedics—LOL...
Not knocking Chili’s at all. I have had many a great meal there. They’re fast, tasty, have a big menu….and great prices. Plus they raise a lot of money every year for St. Jude Hospital….The waiters and waitresses are also great.
Never had the fries though. I tend to shy away from things that fattening…but they sound yummy…

To-Do List…..Survival List…..whatever you want to call it.
Self Magazine has this list of what every woman needs to know to be a well rounded person…with good self confidence. I guess Self Magazine has female readers only, because looking at this list….it could be for men as well.
SO check them off:
sew a button.
roast a chicken
tie a necktie
do a basic waltz
mix the perfect martini
hang a picture
throw a yard sale
compost
build a fire.
I can do one…..roast a chicken…and if I could get that darn thread through the needle I could sew a button, but I’m thinking that’s it. Sam claims he can do at least 6 of the nine. We had Moms calling this morning about what they’d add to their list….for sons and daughters…..laundry, ironing, change a tire and what to do when they get sick. That one I answered…..call Mom!!!! Isn’t that what all college kids do?
And speaking of kids in college….those new credit card rules that started yesterday
May save the day. It should be a lot harder for college kids to get a credit card or two or three…
1. Companies won’t be able to go onto college campuses and offer free things
in exchange for signing up for a credit card..
2. They won’t be able to set up booths at college sporting events.
3. Those under 21 will now need a co signer or proof of a steady income to get a card
4. And if your kid does get a card, the monthly bills will now show how long it will take to pay off if they just pay the minimum.
I’ve been lucky. Tori was always smart about money…so while she had credit cards in her own name in college, she rarely used them (she used mine-ha ha) And Christina is almost a senior and has yet to get her own card, although every time she goes to the bank they try to talk her into one. (she too just uses mine-ha ha)
I have friends though with kids who owe thousands on credit cards they got in college.
Thank goodness it’s always their kids not mine….LOL!!!!
Yeah..famous last words right…..
Given blood lately? Yes..you!!!!
Sam and I will be at the Northwest YMCA in Cupertino tomorrow helping the Stanford Blood Center with their blood drive….Runs from 9:30 to 5:30….but we’ll be out there from about 10:30 to 12:30. Come on out roll up your sleeve!!!!!! The address is
20803 Alves Drive. We’ll have some snacks and surprises….

This is really good information. Be sure and read all the way to the end. And if you've read it before...read it again...It's a great reminder....If you're like me, at least 4 of them will hit very close to home.
Things Your Burglar Won't Tell You:
1. Of course I look familiar. I was here just last week cleaning your carpets, painting your shutters, or delivering your new refrigerator.
2. Hey, thanks for letting me use the bathroom when I was working in your yard last week. While I was in there, I unlatched the back window to make my return a little easier.
3. Love those flowers. That tells me you have taste ... and taste means there are nice things inside. Those yard toys your kids leave out always make me wonder what type of gaming system they have.
4. Yes, I really do look for newspapers piled up on the driveway. And I might leave a pizza flyer in your front door to see how long it takes you to remove it.
5. If it snows while you're out of town, get a neighbor to create car and foot tracks into the house. Virgin drifts in the driveway are a dead giveaway. (Doesn’t apply here, but is something to tell a relative or friend in snow-country)
6. If decorative glass is part of your front entrance, don't let your alarm company install the control pad where I can see if it's set. That makes it too easy.
7. A good security company alarms the window over the sink. And the windows on the second floor, which often access the master bedroom-and your jewelry. It's not a bad idea to put motion detectors up there too.
8. It's raining, you're fumbling with your umbrella, and you forget to lock your door-understandable. But understand this: I don't take a day off because of bad weather.
9. I always knock first. If you answer, I'll ask for directions somewhere or offer to clean your gutters. (Don't take me up on it.)
10. Do you really think I won't look in your sock drawer? I always check dresser drawers, the bedside table, and the medicine cabinet.
11. Helpful hint: I almost never go into kids' rooms.
12. You're right: I won't have enough time to break into that safe where you keep your valuables. But if it's not bolted down, I'll take it with me.
13. A loud TV or radio can be a better deterrent than the best alarm system. If you're reluctant to leave your TV on while you're out of town, you can buy a $35 device that works on a timer and simulates the flickering glow of a real television. (Find it at faketv.com.)
14. Sometimes, I carry a clipboard. Sometimes, I dress like a lawn guy and carry a rake. I do my best to never, ever look like a crook.
15. The two things I hate most: loud dogs and nosy neighbors.
16.. I'll break a window to get in, even if it makes a little noise. If your neighbor hears one loud sound, he'll stop what he's doing and wait to hear it again. If he doesn't hear it again, he'll just go back to what he was doing. It's human nature.
17. I'm not complaining, but why would you pay all that money for a fancy alarm system and leave your house without setting it?
18. I love looking in your windows. I'm looking for signs that you're home, and for flat screen TVs or gaming systems I'd like. I'll drive or walk through your neighborhood at night, before you close the blinds, just to pick my targets.
19. Avoid announcing your vacation on your Facebook page. It's easier than you think to look up your address.
20. To you, leaving that window open just a crack during the day is a way to let in a little fresh air. To me, it's an invitation.
21. If you don't answer when I knock, I try the door. Occasionally, I hit the jackpot and walk right in.
I had a scare a few weeks ago…Had a tow truck guy come to my house to help start my car. I got very nervous because he started asking me very personal questions and without thinking answered them honestly, which let him know I was alone. May have been a false alarm but for about 5 minutes I truly feared for my life.
Pass this list around….It’s a great reminder for us all!!!!!

So the secrets are out…And if you were listening earlier this morning to Sam and Lissa
You know what I’m talking about. One in five women think their girlfriend is fat…
But the good news…if you think this is good…is that they would never tell you.
And I guess this is why. Of the one in 4 women who have actually mustered up the courage to talk to their friend…12 percent say she went “mental” while one in five say it ended their friendship. Sad but true. I can honestly say I’ve never told a friend she needed to go on a diet, but also perhaps sad but true I admit I have told other people that the friend needs to lose weight. Okay…so I’m not nice all the time….
but almost all the time...ha ha....Just ask Sam!!!
Now this next revelation really had us laughing this morning....
--Nine out of ten women check out other women's "boobies" several times a day.
--Four out of ten guys admit they look at women's "boobies" at LEAST ten times a day.
--Four in ten women admit they have what's called "boobie envy" among their friends and co-workers.
--51% of women are unhappy with their "boobies",and 63% want bigger "boobies".
--At the same time, almost half of all men are happy with their partner's "boobies",and wouldn't change anything about them.
--And not surprisingly, 48% of men say they look at a woman's chest before her face.
Just don't do that to me..because since I'm only five foot tall..I notice when your eyes go that low..LOL
SO I've read this twice now..and it still makes me laugh...
Now..about Tiger...I have been ragging on him for 3 months.....and while this mornings 15 minute statement doesn't change anything he did, I've got to tell you I think he hit it out of the park. Oh..wait..wrong sport.
And Elin reportedly told him...your apology will come from your behavior...But he looked like a beaten man and his words were well chosen and well spoken. And perhaps now that it is 3 months later, these words are truer than they would have been Thanksgiving weekend.
I'll give him a chance. Glad I'm not Elin and have to make much more important and serious decisions. Mine only had to be .....can I ever cheer him on again.
By the way..what the heck has he been eating the last three months?....I think hes gained 20-30 pounds. Not only does he need to finish rehab, he'll have to go shopping for new clothes. I guess somebody does that part for him...
Have a great weekend!!!!

Yes…we are awesome. …all of us. Here it is….The U-S has the best looking people
In the world….Yes…we are the fairest of them all…the best looking of them all…
No Mirror necessary!!!!! And it wasn’t even Americans who were bragging.
A British website called OnePoll.com asked which country has the best looking people….
U-S
Brazil
Spain
Australia
Italy.
What’s that about? ….the British people didn’t even vote for themselves… Oh…...thats right, they have bad teeth!!!
SO have you noticed Bob Costas on the Olympics? What is with the hair? The man is close to 60.Not a grey hair, plus he’s still got the same haircut he had 30 years ago. Sam says he wears a toupee. And sure enough…we Googled it this morning and he does…And I guess we weren’t the only ones wondering. People are blogging about it.
American Idol last nite…..Same old…same old.. Put people in 3 rooms…go in one by one and try to fool them as to whether they get to stick around or not. And how many times have we heard these two lines and now even Ellen is saying them…”It’s not the end of the road for you”….and “the talent this season is unbelievable.” I think Randy again said it’s the best yet. He might be right…so far the 7 finalists picked for the top 24 are great except for Lee (sp). I have never been that impressed with him.
The rest of the finalists will be picked tonite and then finally next week, the live shows begin.
By the way I don’t know if this true or not but the rumor is Simon Cowell has gotten engaged to a new girlfriend who happens to be a make up lady on Idol…..that he whipped out a ring on Valentines Day at some restaurant. Dang it. I thought he was saving himself for me….LOL
And can this really be true that Nicole Richie got a 47 carat diamond from Joel Madden. Every thing I read says 47 carats. How can that be? And how much would that cost. And how could she wear it on that skinny little finger of hers?
This is good news…the CW Network has re-upped Gossip Girl, 90210 and America
S Next top model…but they haven’t decided on Melrose Place—which I love and also the new show on Monday nights called Life Unexpected. I think they’re trying to decide between One Tree Hill and the new show. I hope they go with Life Unexpected. I just love it.
Do you see what Sam and I see? Tomorrow is Thursday…getting close to the weekend. YIPEE!!!

Now Sam and I know what gets you going…..the Bachelor..
We opened up Pandora’s Box this morning by sharing my disgust for Dork Jake and these 3 girls (4 if you count Ali) who want to marry him, have his babies and live happily ever after. What have they been seeing him for 8 weeks now.? And maybe each one has had a total of 3 or 4 real dates. I think just twice, they’ve spent the day together. But he loves them all, and they love him…
And just what was going on in the Fantasy Suites last night? And don’t these 3 girls Gia, Tenley and Vienna know that whatever he’s doing with them, he’s doing with the other two. Would you really want your daughter to be on this show?
And according to the gossip mags, there’s something going on with each one of these girls. Gia..who didn’t get a rose last night, was apparently dating some guy for two years, She told the Bachelor folks she was single and when she got picked to be on the show, she dumped him. And then there’s the story about Tenley, that her ex husband left her because she was so controlling and had so many rules.
But heck I watch it……. Although Tori wishes I wouldn’t or at least not when she is watching it. Apparently, I make too many snide comments!!!!
In 2012, the American Psychiatric Association is going to release a new list of what to call everything that is wrong with us….sort of a "bible" for disorders. You may want to learn some of these….LOL!!!
#1.) If you're passive and inactive, you're not just lazy . . . you have Sluggish Cognitive Tempo Disorder.
#2.) If you're going through a divorce and are having a hard time getting along with your ex, you're not just having a normal reaction to major emotional stress . . . you have Relational Disorder.
#3.) If you're always complaining, you might not just be a whiner . . . you have Negativistic Personality Disorder.
#4.) If you sometimes lose your temper and suddenly become very angry, you don't just have a bad temper . . . you have Intermittent Explosive Disorder.
#5) If you’re lazy you just suffer from sluggish Cognitive Temp Disorder.
#6.) If you get really moody when you're PMSing, you're not just a normal woman . . . you've got Premenstrual Dysphonic Disorder.
#7.) And if you don't care about the planet, you're not just a REPUBLICAN . . . you've got Nature Deficit Disorder.
(oops..not sure how that one snuck in)
Did you know….We (San Jose area) are the second largest market in the country for fancy coffee drinks. Guess who’s tops…Seattle …yep home of Starbucks.
And We (San Jose area) are number 7 for happiest cities in America.
Santa Barbara and Santa Rosa are just “slightly happier.” So smile…be happy!!!!!

So it’s official. Sam was right. There is no way Howard Stern can be trusted to behave on American Idol. In fact, I guess he can’t be trusted at all, as the story is he was never a serious contender to replace Simon. It appears he made it all up. And that Idol had never made him an offer.
And I think tonite, we’ll find out that the Bachelor is a sham. Although I think that’s obvious. Yes..I guess Ali returns tonite…that she will gravel her way back… Isn’t that sort of what happened last season with what’s her name and what’s his name? .LOL
By the way…they haven’t gotten married yet, have they? Hmmmmmmmm…
I think my favorite shows right now are Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Every single one of them just cracks me up….but they all seem like really nice people. I will be sorry to see Real Housewives of Orange County. I think this has been the best season yet. I absolutely love Good Wife. It was so good this past week, and I love the new show on CW called Life Unexpected.
I guess this is why I haven’t seen any of the Olympics yet. I was out of town for a couple of days and I’ve had all my favorite shows to catch up on….in addition to Young and the Restless, Grey’s and Private Practice… I know..I know..I watch too much TV.
Did you hear about this incredible story? It’s from Washington State near Tacoma.
--Chris is a Marine reservist who recently started a new job as a 911 dispatcher. Earlier this month, he was at work when he took a call from a frantic woman named Janna who said her 6-month-old son Jacob was choking.
--So Chris told Janna to turn Jacob face down, and strike him on the back five times. Which she did, successfully dislodging a piece of plastic and saving Jacob's life.
--And through it all, Chris kept his head about him,
which is something you might expect from a 911 dispatcher.
Except that Janna is Chris' WIFE, and Jacob is his SON. (!!!)
--Janna dialed 911 to report the emergency, and it just
happened to be her husband who took the call. She knew
right away, but it actually took him a little while to
figure it out.
--Janna says, quote, "I was thinking the whole time,
'Does he know it's me?' But I didn't want to say,
'Hey Chris, you know it's me, right?' It wouldn't
have helped in that moment."
Isn’t that something? Gives me goose bumps!!!!
Hope you had a great Valentines Day. Sam’s wife –Carol-was sick with a bad cold from their week skiing so he dropped off the card at her bedside and took off… went to the Farmers Market and Target.. So like a man!!!!! LOL..
Tori and I had a nice day. Yep…with her boyfriend still working in China she was my Valentine…Still upset that Christina never got my card down in San Luis Obispo. So I would like to know who did along with the gift cards… Oh well!!

This just cracks me up…..Would you rather spend Valentines Day with
Your Partner..or your Pet?
Did I just hear you say your Pet? You’re not alone…
A new Internet poll just surveyed 24,000 people in 24 countries.
--Overall, 21% of people worldwide . . . that's more than ONE in FIVE . . . would rather spend Valentine's Day with their pet than their partner.
--In the United States, 27% of us would rather spend Valentine's Day with our pet. That's more than ONE in FOUR.
--Meanwhile, 49% of the adults in Turkey would pick their pet over their partner. That's the highest of any country. India came next with 41%, then Japan with 30%, China with 29%, and Australia with 25%.
--Just ONE in TEN French adults say they'd pick their pet over their partner. That's the lowest of any country. Mexico, the Netherlands and Hungary were all right around 12%.
--If you're younger, you're more likely to want to spend Valentine's Day with your pet: ONE in FOUR adults under the age of 35 say that, while just 14% of people over the age of 55 say the same.
--It's also an income thing: 24% of lower-income adults say they'd pick their pet over their partner. While just 20% of middle and upper-income adults would choose their pet. Men and women were evenly split over the question.
My spouse passed away 3 years ago….so I’m going with the Pet!!! Actually, I don’t know what I’d do without my pets….especially my cat Tobey Tobes. He is my little buddy!!!!
Sam has been gone the last few days, so I can’t ask him. I’m guessing he’ll say his wife-Carol-…LOL!!!!!
Okay…enough with the pets…something for you and your human….
The "Five Most Romantic Spots for Valentine's Day" from Life and Style Weekly magazine (Good luck!):
5. Oahu, Hawaii
4. Los Cabos, Mexico
3. Paris, France
2. Venice, Italy 1. Fiji Islands
As I said Good luck!!!!!
Don’t think you’ll have much better luck with this list…
The nation's top 10 places to kiss (MSN.com):
--A park bench in Jackson Square, New Orleans (the city's first neighborhood)
--Buckingham Fountain, Chicago (in Grant Park, where skateboarders, inline skaters and cyclists are banned)
--Beds at the B-E-D restaurant and nightclub, NYC (hint: they're not for sleeping)
--Reed's Jazz and Supper Club, Austin, TX
--Poolside cabana at the Cameo Bar, Santa Monica, CA (hint: draw the drapes)
--The Public Garden, Boston (an idyllic oasis in overbuilt downtown)
--Kerry Park, Seattle (great views of the city and Mount Rainier)
--Ritz-Carlton, Orange County, CA (breathtaking oceanfront views)
--Gondola ride in Stone Mountain Park, Atlanta (great views)
--A hidden balcony at the Farallon underwater seafood restaurant, San Francisco (the aquatic motif includes blown-glass jellyfish chandeliers)
Whatever you do on Sunday….hope it’s a Great Valentines Day….
Sam and I will be back together again..and with you on Monday.
Hope you have some good “love” stories for us. We've got something great for the kids...
Disney on Ice..Worlds of Fantasy....and all the tickets next week will be in the first 5 rows!!!!

Is your work like mine? The morning after the Bachelor, we all huddle and DISCUSS!!!
Was shocked this morning to find out our Production Director, Steve Taylor, the guy with the booming voice on our commercials never misses the show. He said his wife watches and he wants to be with his wife so there you go. Have to admit I started watching it when Tori came home from China. She watches and I want to be with her…LOL…
Every week, I think the same thing…..how silly the show is and that I can’t believe how it sucks me in. Why would Jake still be interested in Vienna, knowing that of the 25 Bachelorettes, not a single one likes her. And in most cases, they not only don’t like her, they can’t stand her. Plus, he visits the families of Vienna, Tenley, Gia and Ali and acts like each one is the love of his life. And then Ali yesterday says she has to pick between her job and him and since he didn’t tell her he would marry her…..she left. He’s got the teary eyes…then composes himself and walks in to see the other girls like nothings happened. Tenley, Gia and Vienna are standing there…smiling not asking where Ali went...each one taking turns getting the rose and a hug. OMG…
I don’t think it’s on the next couple of weeks….May be on hiatus because of the Olympics. What will we do?
Layna in our Promotions Department has already decided that Ali will be the next Bachelorette. That is, if she doesn’t show up in the Caribbean and asks for another chance….stay tuned!!!!
You watch Young and the Restless? They’ve got this story line of a woman getting plastic surgery to look just like her psychiatrist… I’m telling you these soaps are ahead of their time…I’m reading that actress Jessica Alba is trying to stop a woman in China from undergoing extensive plastic surgery to look just like her…True Story as my daughter always says….This Asian woman says her ex boyfriend loves Jessica Alba so she’s trying to win him back.
Here’s something a lot more serious…and I didn’t get a chance to mention it on the show this morning. Many women with breast cancer are given the drug tamoxifen which can reduce the risk of cancer returning by 50 percent. But some of these women are also
given the antidepressant Paxil to treat symptoms of depression. And those two drugs together can be very bad. Paxil they think interferes with tamoxifen, leading to more breast cancer deaths. So something you may want to research.
Maybe you can tell, I had my annual exam with the OB-GYN yesterday….I’ve got breast cancer on the mind.
Did you see that snow on Mt. Hamilton this morning? Sam didn’t need to go to Tahoe to ski…he could have stayed here…

How appropriate is this…Laugh and Get Rich Day..and someone in San Jose wins the $20 million dollar lottery…
Anyone know when Girl Scout cookies arrive? I placed my order weeks ago.
I know it’s in February…just not sure when. I’m hungry for my cookies….
Today is the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts…and what is their motto…”Do my Best”….which is what the Saints did yesterday…and a little more…LOL…. All those stories we saw about New Orleans-post Katrina…and how many people are still out of their homes…That hurricane was 4 years ago…..Shame on us!!!!
That game was so good yesterday…although I didn’t like how my Colts played.
Thought for sure when the second half started that Peyton Manning and Co. would do
what they did against the Jets..and run away with it…But then came the Saints onside kick..and that was just the start of the Saints half…Was so close until the last 6 minutes…Oh well..I really didn’t mind at all that the Saints won. How could you?
And now I know..Sam was right..Nachos have to be made in the oven….Still not sure how you grab a bunch from a casserole dish. We just picked them with our hands. And yes…after we add some wings….and some chips and guacamole..and m and m’s….yep so darn sanitary!!!! Not sick yet…
Guess I’m off the hook for seeing Avatar..now that it’s no longer Number one….Really didn’t expect Dear John to make it to the very top…because it’s such a “girl movie”….but that’s what did it…They said 84 percent of the audience was female and most 21 and under. Couldn’t remember how the Nicholas Sparks book ended…so I took a look when I got home from the movie…Don’t worry..I will not spoil it for you…but it’s got a different twist to the end.. All I can say is bring tissues…As always..I was sobbing… And don’t we all know what the number one movie this weekend will be …..Yep…Valentines Day. Can you believe the cast?… JESSICA ALBA, KATHY BATES, JESSICA BIEL, BRADLEY COOPER, ERIC DANE, PATRICK DEMPSEY, HECTOR ELIZONDO, JAMIE FOXX, JENNIFER GARNER, TOPHER GRACE, ANNE HATHAWAY, ASHTON KUTCHER, QUEEN LATIFAH, TAYLOR LAUTNER, GEORGE LOPEZ, SHIRLEY MacLAINE, EMMA ROBERTS, JULIA ROBERTS, TAYLOR SWIFT.
How much did they all get paid to be in that movie? Anyway…can’t wait to see it.
So Sam’s off this week…skiing with his wife-Carol. I love to take my vacations in the warm sun and they love the snow. We will carry on without him. Tomorrow at 7:10 we will give away 4th row seats to Michael Buble’s concert in April. 3rd row the next…and by the time it’s Friday the tix will be in the first row. Have to get your name in at KBAY.Com… so make sure you do that!!!!!

Sam and I the other day were talking about rip-offs.
This list we had mentioned things like the hotel mini bar,
Movies you rent in your hotel room, popcorn and soda at the movie theater.
A 6 year old called up and said the “claw” where you put 50 cents in and try and grab a stuffed animal…She says the arm is too short you can never reach the stuffy.
Also mentioned the big increase that started last month on California traffic fines. I even had that in our blog the other day.
And guess what I got in the mail? Christina’s speeding ticket from Cal Poly. $394 for going 40 in a 25. If she goes to traffic school (which she will) the fine drops to $311 plus the price of school and isn’t that over $100? Plus her taillight was out and that fine was $264 but she’s had that fixed, so when the CHP signs off on it, that one will disappear. Happy Day!!!
Sam was complaining. He spent $1700 on his T-Bird this week. Something to do with Coils and Spark Plugs..and they returned his car dirty…Bird Poopy all over the hood.
The guy offered to clean his windshield…..that’s it. Wouldn’t you think for $1700 they could at least wash it? They always do at my Lexus place…and even when I just get an oil change.
Pretty excited about the Super Bowl Sunday. I usually skip the parties and stay at home because I just love watching the game…and I mean the football…The commercials are always fun too..but I really love the game. Hope the Colts win because I loooooveeeee
Peyton Manning but it won’t really be a bad thing if the Saints win. It’s hard to root against them. Let’s just hope….it’s not a rout. That’s never any fun…
Shocking this morning was the revelation from Sam that you make nachos in the oven..
Who knew..not me. I always throw some tortilla chips on a paper plate…cover them with shredded cheese from the bag…throw some jalapeños, olives and sour cream on top..and microwave for 45 seconds. Tasted fine to me…but he said they’re restaurant quality if you put them under the broiler. Like I said…who knew?
Laura called and said I was just like her husband. He only knows to microwave them as well. She also puts them in the oven..but bakes them for ten minutes..and slathers refried beans all over them….yummmmmm….
Since I’m so into my microwave…Toni sent me this…and it too sounds yummy!!!
Easy Microwave Dip
1 ½ Cups Velveeta Cheese (cubed) 1 can Dennison’s NO Beans Chili
3/4 Cups Salsa
Cover bowl with saran wrap and microwave about two mins. (stir) then microwave a few more minutes (stir). Once it reaches a slightly bubbly consistency IT READY! Toss in some slice jalapenos to taste.
Grab your bowl of chips….and GO COLTS!!!!!
Or in case Sam is reading this….and GO SAINTS!!!!

Sam and I absolutely love what the kids at San Benito High School in Hollister have done to support one of their classmates. Diana Magana is a freshman and sadly is fighting cancer. The ASB came up with a wonderful way to help her emotionally and help her family with the medical bills. They put together a Dancing for Diana video on Youtube and yeah…it’s a hit. The students took a video camera all over town and got people to stop what they were doing and Dance for Diana… Some of them are hilarious. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTY4q_8tB0M.
If you’d like to help Diana …you can contact San Benito High School in Hollister.
Let’s get Diana dancing again!!!!!
Thought this last Monday, Feb One was Wear Red Day….
But it’s tomorrow (I apparently can’t be right all of the time…ha ha)
But that’s good because on Monday I wore orange. So tomorrow, lets all wear red to promote healthy hearts. I don’t think we’ve ever had one of these in the Southbay. Tomorrow, the Go Red bus will zip through town. If you see it, look through the windows…On board will be 49er players and wives,, heart disease survivors, nurses, local big wigs, and school officials plus people from the American Heart Association. We’ve got to stop heart disease….it kills more women than even cancer, plus takes almost a million lives a year...
This I don’t want to believe. The story in the Enquirer…that John Edwards beat up his cancer stricken wife Elizabeth, during a quote “horrific marriage ending fight.”
A so called source says “John lost his temper big time. She has the divorce papers drawn up but can amend them to charge John with domestic violence. “She’s holding that over his head right now and he’s scared. Elizabeth is in control.” Don’t get me wrong. John Edwards is scum…and that’s the nicest word I can find....but I can’t believe he would hit Elizabeth. Sam thinks it could be true…and all I can say is..if it is…then lock him up!!!!

SO I see this joke is making the rounds. I have gotten it from
a few friends now….It is so funny…and yes let me know how many people you send it to. You can insert any restaurant you want to make it seem more local. I’m putting in Morton’s Steakhouse, not because they have waitresses with low cut blouses because they don’t…but because I love the place and it’s a real treat to go there.
Anyway, here’s the joke guaranteed to make you laugh….
A group of 40 year old buddies discussed where they should meet for dinner.
Finally it was agreed upon that they should meet at Morton’s Steakhouse because the waitress's there had low cut blouses and were very young.
10 years later at 50 years of age, the group once again discussed where they should meet for dinner. Finally it was agreed that they should meet at Morton’s Steakhouse because the food there was very good and the wine selection was good also.
10 years later at 60 years of age, the group once again discussed where they should meet for dinner. Finally it was agreed that they should meet at Morton’s Steakhouse because they could eat there in peace and quiet and the restaurant had a beautiful view of the ocean (downtown).
10 years later, at 70 years of age, the group once again discussed where they should meet for dinner. Finally it was agreed that they should meet at Morton’s Steakhouse because the restaurant was wheel chair accessible and they even had an elevator.
10 years later, at 80 years of age, the group once again discussed where they should meet for dinner. Finally it was agreed that they should meet at Morton’s Steakhouse because they had never been there before.
Hilarious, right? I told it to Sam this morning and he couldn’t stop laughing…
And he’s usually the funny one, not me…..
Like I said send it around….it’s a gem!!!!
I’M not sure if this is for real or not but Monday morning I went to SoapCentral.Com like I do every Monday to read the preview for the coming week on Young and the Restless. Unlike almost everyone else, I don’t mind knowing what will happen. But anyway, there was a poll…Do you think CBS will cancel Young and the Restless? Yes or No. What in the heck is that about? YandR is the most watched soap on TV. It’s number one. And I’ve watched it literally from Day One. I hope it’s some prank. This would upset my every afternoon!!!!! I very rarely go to bed until I’ve had may daily watch. I know more about the Newmans and Abbots than I do my own family….LOL!!!!
2 more days and Sam and I will be making someone’s year….The KBAY New Year’s Golden Ticket is printed and ready to go on Friday… 5th row seats to Michael Buble, a meet and greet with John Mayer and a year’s workout at Club One. Have you signed up at KBAY.Com?

This can’t be true…..that healthy adults need less sleep as they age.
This is a “tireless” issue at home. My daughter-Tori- is always worried I don’t get enough sleep. Heck…I get 4 and a half hours!!! But I do try to get an hour nap every afternoon.
Tori just read in some magazine that you’re cutting your life short—or something silly like that—if you sleep less than 6 hours a day. Hey I’ve been doing morning radio for 30 plus years..and I’m still breathing. The second half of the sleep story was that you should never let your pets in your bedroom….(and not because of what you’re thinking-ha ha) But because they disturb you all night. Now that part I have to agree with. I think I get up 2 or 3 times every night to pull Tobey Tobes out from under the bed because he’s bugging Chloey bad enough to make her howl. I’m guessing between the two cats and the dog I get 2 maybe 3 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Geez…how do I live?
Sam on the other hand gets closer to 7 maybe 8 hours. Hey it all works out in the end…
I never fall apart until the show is over!!!!
Kids need a job? The folks at Oscar Mayer are looking for someone to drive
The Wienermobile for a year….If you can cut the mustard-sorry- they can spend the year as a “hotdogger” driving the vehicle from coast to coast. The ad asks “Can you imagine learning about public relations, marketing, consumer promotions, sales and more while on a coast to coast wiener roast?” Never mind your kids applying…what about you….
I’m guessing though they probably put you up in a Motel 6 along the way..
I’ll pass…..
Haven’t had a chance yet to see Desperate or Brothers and Sisters from Sunday night,
But I read that next month, there will be a same sex kiss between Dana Delaney’s character Katherine and a new character ….stripper Robin. (Wasn’t she on Sunday night?) Better do it quick. I think the actress Julie Benz has only been hired for 4 episodes.
And as we get closer to Valentines Day….you can have your sweetie go to Proflowers.Com and order roses (shameless plug for the Sam and Lissa commercials)
And for your gift back….follow the suggestion of Julia Roberts…..make dinner reservations…order some nice wine…and “take off your shirt”.Yep…..show your boobies!!!!

Where ever I went this weekend, someone was telling me about a ticket
they had just gotten. The real shocker is still to come. My friend Judy this morning sent me a list of new California traffic ticket fines that supposedly went into effect last month Are you ready?
$215 for not notifying DMV of address change within 10 days.
$796 for not having proof of insurance. (both of these can be reduced if you make good on them)
$436 for not stopping at a red light
$214 for driving 1-15 MPH over the speed limit
$328 for driving 16-25 MPH over the speed limit
(My daughter Christina just got a 40 in a 25 at Cal Poly, so I guess I’ll see if that $214 is true)
$616 for passing a school bus with flashing red signals.
$148 for using cell phone that’s not hands-free (first offense)
$256 for each additional cell phone ticket.
$148 for texting.
$976 for parking in a bus loading zone…or illegally in a disabled spot.
$1876 for second offense (never met anyone who got a second ticket for parking illegally in a disabled spot. Once is usually enough.
$148 for not wearing a seat belt
I know California needs money…but WOW!!!!!
Thank goodness when that cop pulled me over on Friday, he was “ticketless”
Last night because of the Grammys, I didn’t watch Desperate Housewives.
And now I’m really in a pickle. I still have some of the Grammys to watch, plus Desperate and Brothers and Sisters. But tonight, I will have to watch the Bachelor because it’s in San Francisco and Tori is now at home from her business trip. Plus I will have to DVR my new favorite show Life Unexpected. So I’m all backed up already on my TV watching and it’s only Monday…..Such problems….LOL
Did you watch Michael Buble on Saturday Night Live…He was the best. In fact, I think that show with Mad Men’s Jon Hamm was the best in a long time. Who noticed a wedding ring on Buble’s left hand? I sure did. Maybe it was an engagement ring from her to him. Sam and I might get to interview him soon. I will have to ask. Actually, Sam said I could do the interview by myself since I’m such a big fan. I told him I couldn’t…...that I might wet my pants from the excitement….Seriously, I might. I almost did with Simon Cowell…
If you haven’t heard, 5th row seats to Buble’s concert in Oakland are part of KBAY’s New Years Golden ticket…..plus a meet and greet with John Mayer and a year at Club one. Could you try and win at KBAY.Com…so I can live through you!!!!!
(Last week, by the way, to get your name in…Friday at 7, Sam and I will announce the winner…)

So I’m driving to work this morning. It’s early …very early… 3 or so…
And I’m almost at the station. I stop to make a right turn. The light happens to be green but even when it’s not I usually make one of those California stops. Today though it’s green. I’m about to turn and I notice a San Jose cop car
at the other corner. I got nervous, as I always do when I’m driving near a cop and I just STOPPED. Yep…he followed me through the intersection, and the next thing you know .the red lights are going. I guess he thought I was drunk. I roll down my window…
Sheepishly asked “what did I do”….he said you stopped at a green light and I said “You scared me” Then I started to babble..I’m Lissa Kreisler..I do the morning show at KBAY and pointed to the station. He had no idea who I was…but he laughed and sent me on my way….So no I didn’t get a ticket….but I’m still upset he didn’t know who I was…LOL!!!!
We needed a fashionista this morning. Sam’s wife- Carol- was complaining that he has a habit of wearing brown shoes, even when he’s wearing black pants. Sam thinks you match your s hoes to your shirt and he likes to wear a brown shirt with the black pants. I told him no…shoe colors match your hemline.
But we then got this e mail from Barbara “No disrespect intended to Mrs. Sam, but I've met Sam at Starbuck's and with a face a handsome as his I would never even GLANCE at this shoes:)”
Have yet to hear from any one sad that Samantha Harris is leaving Dancing with the Stars…Hey..maybe Paula Abdul could replace her…okay maybe not. Can you imagine her backstage interviews!!!!
And I don’t care what Sam says. I think there is a power struggle going on at American Idol between Simon and Ellen!!!
Finally…got to share this. Air New Zealand, for their long flights, is replacing the first
11 rows in economy class with "Skycouches." They're three airlines seats that fold out to create a single lie-flat couch so fliers can lie down together. The three seats would cost as much as 2-1/2 regular seats. They say
it would create a play or sleep area for families traveling with small children or a place where two adults could comfortably lie down together. They call that section, "Cuddle-Class." I'd call it the "Mile High Club Car."
Have a great fun weekend!!!!!

It gets me nervous to talk about job firings….since I’ve never been fired and I would like to keep that going—LOL…. But this firing had Sam and I talking this morning.
It happened in the Netherlands. A McDonalds fired a worker because she was caught putting an extra slice of cheese in a burger she made for a co-worker…and then selling it to her at a discounted price. The manager said she broke the rules. The girl went to court and ended up winning about 6 thousand dollars—5 months worth of wages.
Sam said he got fired once—but only temporarily—for playing a John Denver song…
True story!!!! Before he got into radio—he got fired for telling a boss that there was nothing to do. (Then there really wasn’t anything to do)
Talk about going from the top to the bottom….and in no time flat.
ABC has cancelled “Ugly Betty”. They’ll show the rest of this season and then that’s it.
I really never got into the show, but I knew it was done when ABC put it on Friday nights.
And maybe this is why Rob Lowe has decided to leave Brothers and Sisters. So-called sources (whoever they are) say Calista Flockhart’s role will be reduced next season.
ABC not commenting…except to insist that she’ll be remaining a series regular.
Next to Sally Field, she was the big name when that show started, but I even got tired of her. She had so many problems all the time, not to mention a battle with cancer. I love all the other story lines much better.
Have to admit I don’t really know the difference between a Labrador Retriever and a Golden Retriever. I think the Golden has a lot more hair, but they’re both in the top 5 for most popular dogs in America. It’s based on the number of registrations with the AKC..
So the Lab is one..followed by the German Shepherd, Yorki, Golden Retriever and the Beagle. Not sure where my Daisy the Shitzu is on the list. I’m too lazy to go to AKC.Org. I did read the dog at the bottom of the list for popularity (#164) is the English Foxhound.
Had this on the news this morning….The Santa Clara County Black Firefighters Association is collecting shoes for quake survivors in Haiti. The shoe drive goes through Sunday only…so take a peek in your closet and see what you can donate. They’re asking for “gently worn” men’s, women’s and kids shoes with laces. You can drop them off at any San Jose fire station… There’s also a website…. soles4souls.org

This may be the funniest thing you hear all day….
Or maybe the best thing…..
Your boss is yelling…five angry clients are holding on different phone lines, and you’re going nuts. You’ve got to compose yourself-fast. How do you do it?
Stick your head in the break room freezer. Stress experts say different temperatures and atmosphere changes can quickly relieve stress. You try it first!!!!!Let me know if it works.
This one Sam and I have already decided we’re not doing…
A neuroscientist from U-C San Francisco says going naked can be good for your health.
He talks about how babies love naked time. That unhampered range of motion helps their brains make new connections. Walking around barefoot he says helps prevent Alzheimers…that the extra stimulation on your naked foot causes your brain to develop more neuron connections…
Oh wait…...there’s more….Public nudity he says reduces stress , reduces curiosity about the human body, and creates a more wholesome attitude about the sex, plus you get more vitamin D from the sun, and finally Clothes are a breeding ground for disgusting fungi and bacteria, which can cause yeast infections and urinary tract infections. And wearing underwear that's too tight can reduce a man's swimmer count and fertility.
Did I tell you Sam and I are still going to wear clothes. I myself have decided I have enough good health and I can remind myself of that every day when I look in the mirror after the shower LOL!!!!
For some reason, nudity is my thing this morning….I also read that men are three times as likely as women to sleep in the nude. There you have it…..case “clothed”.
Did you watch Idol last nite. This guest judge thing is stupid. Avril Lavigne was useless. Had nothing to say and come on…what’s with the hoodie ? She’s 25. Katy Perry was better but seemed to think her role was to argue with Kara. And it’s weird how they switch guest judges during the middle of the show. All of a sudden one is gone..and then a new one is there. Tonite its Joe Jonas and Neil Patrick Harris.
Before Idol, I did get to watch the Monday night episode of Life Unexpected. I just love that show.
Hope you got your KBAY Connection newsletter today. One name ….Michael Buble.

Sam and Lissa's Blog 1/26
Sam and I learned two things this morning….from listeners.
KBAY folks …..men and women…love to buy jeans. My 17 pair in my closet
Was no big deal…I’ve got to go shopping because people were calling with
20-30 ..even 66 pairs of jeans. One girl said she made her mom who is in her 50s clean out her closet. They gave away over 100 pairs of jeans. But while doing so they went through all the pockets and found over $100 dollars. Don’t you just love that when you put on a pair of pants, put your hands in the pockets and you find money…Love it!!!!
What started all of this was the article in Self Magazine that most women have at least 5 pairs of jeans. My daughters I think each own 50-100. Now Christina works in a jean story so that’s her excuse and she’s sticking to it. Even guys have a lot of jeans. Not Sam. He has maybe 5…most of them Wranglers that he bought at Target, but Nathan counted 40 in his closet.
And the other thing we learned today is that you don’t have to tip when picking up take out from a restaurant. Sam and I both usually do…but maybe only 10 percent…and it depends how nice the person at the counter is acting. But Jessica called. She says no tipping necessary which is why she probably left the take out counter for teaching. Tim used to handle take out too before he became a data analyst. He said it’s not necessary but nice….that it takes trouble and time to put things in the box or container.
Did you catch Oprah yesterday with Rosie? I love that woman…always have.
She is so honest. Loved her story about Barbara Walters. Oprah, who I must say has been looking a lot better these days, has Denise Richards on today talking about Charlie Sheen and I can’t wait until Thursday when she has on Jay Leno. He’s got some explaining to do!!!!!
American Idol tonite. The story is they’ve booted a guy by the name of “Big Mike” Lynche who would have been on the live shows once they begin. He made the Hollywood Week Top 24 and reportedly his dad confirmed it before we saw it on TV….That’s against the rules. Dad blew it big time !!!! Can you imagine how Dad feels…or how Big Mike feels? I’m thinking it’s a lucky thing we’re not close to Fathers Day. The gift would not be good!!!
I watched Bachelor again last night. I just can’t get over how stupid and juvenile this show is…but ….if I had to pick a girl for Jake it would have to be Gia.
2 final things from this morning…..in case you missed them…The Census Bureau office in San Jose… which has been busy hiring people for the big census count can be reached at 408 343-8140….
And if you want to vote for one of our listeners, Karolin, who is trying to win a 100thousand dollar wedding so she can marry Derrick…do so at
1 vote per IP address and email ..They’ve got just a few more days to collect votes.
If they win…maybe they’ll save us some cake.!!!

How cute is this?….the new Sweetheart heart shaped candy boxes sold only around Valentines
Have 3 new messages this year…..”Tweet Me” “ Text Me” and “Love Bug”. Let me know if you get one, because everytime I buy a box, it’s full of Be Mine and You’re Sweet.
By the way….each candy heart only has about 3 calories and if you have any boxes left from last year, give em’ out…New ones taste the same as the old ones… They taste stale already!!!!
Did you watch the Friday night Hope for Haiti Telethon? I DVR’d it so didn’t see it until Saturday.
Wish they had put everyone’s name on the screen when they sang, as I spent half the song trying to figure out who some of them were. In fact, it wasn’t until I saw the list this morning that I figured out Shakira. I know I know..it was serious stuff, it wasn’t just an entertainment show, but it would have been nice to see the names…Here they are:
ALICIA KEYS - "Send Me An Angel"
--COLDPLAY - "A Message 2010"
--BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN - "We Shall Overcome"
--STEVIE WONDER - "Time To Love"/"Bridge Over Troubled Water"
--SHAKIRA (backed up by THE ROOTS) - "I'll Stand By You" (originally recorded by THE PRETENDERS)
--JOHN LEGEND - "Motherless Child"
--MARY J. BLIGE (and The Roots) - "Hard Times Come Again No More"
--TAYLOR SWIFT - "Breathless"
--CHRISTINA AGUILERA - "Lift Me Up"
--STING - "Driven To Tears"
--BEYONCE - "Halo"
--SHERYL CROW, KID ROCK & KEITH URBAN - "Lean On Me"
--MADONNA - "Like A Prayer"
--JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE (with CHARLIE SEXTON) - "Hallelujah" (a LEONARD COHEN song)
--JENNIFER HUDSON (and The Roots) - "Let It Be"
--EMILINE MICHEL - "Many Rivers To Cross" (a JIMMY CLIFF song)
--JAY-Z, BONO, THE EDGE & RIHANNA - "Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour)
--DAVE MATTHEWS & NEIL YOUNG - "Alone And Forsaken" (a HANK WILLIAMS song)
--WYCLEF JEAN - "Rivers Of Babylon"/"Yele (Medley) (from the reggae movie "The Harder They Come")
You can donate for the next six months by phone, text message or the internet. And don’t forget donations given between now and March can be written off on your 09 tax returns.
Also taped and watched Conan’s last show. I’m not a fan, which is why I don’t think I ever watched an entire show of his the last 7 months, but it was a good one…that’s for sure….especially his last couple of minutes. Was very sweet.
Hey tonite is the new CW show “Life Unexpected”. I think it’s on at 9….I love it. Try it out.
It’s not “trashy like Gossip Girl or Melrose Place….although I love those too and I wish they’d come back on already. I stopped watching The Bachelor but I saw in Sal Pizzaro’s column in the Merc over the weekend that the rose ceremony tonite is at Villa Montalvo…..so maybe I’ll watch.
And what did Sam and his wife- Carol- get their cousin for his 50th birthday?
A bottle of Dom Perignon. (sp) SO they ignored our suggestions….the 50 dollar billsand the 50 lottery tickets.!!!!! And they had to spend a lot more…LOL!!!!
Sam and Lissa's Blog 1/22
So what do you get someone who is turning 50?
Sam can’t remember what he got—LOL—
But for that matter, neither can I….
But he and his wife-Carol- are flying to Los Angeles for their cousin Kenny’s 50th
So we were trying to think of gifts. I said 50 $1 bills….or maybe a $50 gift card.
Rosie called with what I think was the best idea…..50 lottery tickets. She said staple them together and make a lei out of them. Mary called…said chances are so slim he will win anything, adding it’s a lot of work to scratch off 50 lottery tickets…so why not give him a sure thing….a $50 bill. That’s good too…
He can also do what I did for Tori the other day….one of those big chocolate chip cookies like you see in the Mrs. Fields store..and right the age on it. Tori’s wasn’t 50…but 25…ha ha.. Anyway, if you use any of these ideas, “you can thank me now or you can thank me later”. Isn’t that what Sandra Bullock said in Blind Side?
We were talking this morning about the 5 food trends for this year..
Good for you foods
Coconut
Gluten-free
Exotic citrus
And nostalgic foods.
All understandable…until you add this one in….”bacon in new places”.
Can’t believe what I did yesterday at the gym. Thursdays, I have a personal trainer James.
I usually do the treadmill f or about 20 minutes and then he spends 50 minutes with me
Doing circuit exercises…and they’re hard!!!! I must admit he
says I whine like no one else. I think I’m close to tears the whole time…plus he usually has to put a garbage can near by as I always think I’m going to throw up. But yesterday, I got on the big ball.. well actually it’s the medium size ball…and I laid back practically all the way so my head is sort of resting on the ball. and I lifted 25 pounds…up and down…12 .5 on each arm… 15 times..and twice. I didn’t think I could do it at all. It was 5 more pounds than the week before, and I kept thinking the weights were going to fall right on my face…but they didn’t…. A proud moment it was!!! LOL….
Did you watch that new show Deep End before Greys Anatomy? I did.. Wasn’t sold. Maybe it will get better. Not happy to hear that Rob Lowe after this season will leave Brothers and Sisters. His request. It’s true he doesn’t have a major role…but I sure love him..and sure love when he is on. Just hope they don’t kill him off. That would be too sad. They’ve already tried the bad marriage thing with him and Kitty (Calista Flockhart)
So I’m not sure they can go back to it.
Monday morning…Valentines Day and Crayola Crayons…
We’ve got reasons to cover them both…Wake up with us…

No American Idol tonite. It was hilarious last night. I love the guy who split his jeans in the worst possible spot…Theo with the cape and the guy who sang Amazing Grace.
How funny was it when he’s on the ground outside the audition room, being handcuffed
and Simon looks at Kara and Randy and asks” SO yes or no?
I plan to watch the new ABC show at 8…the Deep End. Critics are giving it a so-so…but the commercials look good…..5 new lawyers start work at a big L-A law firm…with lots of drama of course. Maybe a new version of L-A Law from years ago. And on Grey’s Anatomy, Izzie is back tonite.
Did you by chance see Life Unexpected on the CW Network Monday night? Not sure when Gossip Girl and Melrose Place are coming back, but I loved this new show….
It’s about a teenage girl living with a foster Mom….and finds her parents…a morning show radio host (hmmmm) and a bartender. They did it once in high school. Cate put her up for adoption, never knowing she was never taken by a family and the guy didn’t even know she existed. Has a real sweet ending….and I can’t wait to see the next episode.
The producer happens to be a graduate from Presentation High School….yep my favorite school. Mary Beth Basile is her name. How cool is that…Local girl makes good!!!!!
How can you not watch tomorrow night’s telethon to raise money for Haiti. Talk about a line up… George Clooney hosting (I don’t think he can sing—but heck does he need to)
In L-A, there will be performances by Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift and a group jam by Keith Urban, Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow.
In New York…Wyclef Jean will host while Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J Blige, Shakira and Sting perform. And in London….Coldplay, Bono, Jay Z, Beyonce and Rihanna. They think 640 million households all over the world will watch, making it the biggest TV audience for a telethon. Will be on the big networks and MTV. They should make lots and lots of money. And to make it a little easier to give, they’re letting us write it off on our 09 tax returns.

Not sure I like this study on “we” cat owners…
3-quarters of those taking part in a Tidy Cats survey describe a multiple cat owner
As a homebody. 70 percent call people with two or more cats lonely. I am not!!!!
And 60 percent think a crazy cat lady is one who owns 3 or more. Thank goodness…I have just two… Tobey Tobes and Chloey. Maybe I am a crazy cat lady. My daughters are always afraid they’ll come home one day and I’ll be sitting on the couch with about 5 cats.
And I refuse to go along with this….3 out of 4 think a house with 2 or more cats smells bad…85 percent think the bedding and furniture in the home would be coated in cat hair. (That part may be true) and 2-thirds think the house would be cluttered. NOT!!!!
Sam came in this morning telling me novelist Robert B Parker had died…
I said who? I then found out he was the one who wrote the Spenser for Hire detective novels and was the brainchild of the T-V series with Robert Urich back in the 80s…
You know who else died?…Erich Segal…who wrote Love Story which became one of my favorite movies. I can remember crying so hard that I actually threw up…no lie!!!
I remember trying to read Segal’s other books, but never really liked them.
I seem to be fixated on Nicholas Sparks and of course Danielle Steele. I can’t believe it. Next week she will have yet another new book out. I can’t remember the title. I saw it advertised in the book store and thought..oh..I’ve got to get this one. I know all of her books read the same and go from terrible sadness to happiness…but hey…..what’s wrong with that?
Was my daughter Tori’s birthday yesterday….She turned 25. I hate that they’re never home for their birthdays anymore. Christina is at college for hers and Victoria happens to be away on business. So you know what I did? I called the hotel she is staying at in Utah…spoke to the Sales Department and asked for a place nearby where I could order
something delivered. She loves cookies so the woman Shantel offered to go to a popular bakery and pick up for me one of those huge chocolate chip cookies….decorated with her name. I ordered ahead paid with my credit card but can you believe it? Shantel went in the snow to pick it up and put it in her hotel room….That’s how people are in Utah…..so darn nice!!!! And Victoria was so excited.
And yes you can use this idea anytime…my pleasure!!!!

Now this is gross…a study paid for by Good Morning America
That several items of brand new clothing bought at major chain stores
were carrying disease-causing bacteria, viruses and even yuckier stuff.
(I’ll spare you the details) And why? Think about… people try on the clothes…or even buy them….wear them and return them. A microbiologist says if you don’t wash new clothes before wearing them you are in effect touching a stranger’s armpit or groin. Never thought about it that way..but makes total sense.. The bad thing is that the only time my clothes look good is when they’re brand new or just back from the cleaner…
Once I wash them I’m sad to say they never look as good…
Not sure how sanitary this is either…the story from London that Holiday Inn is testing
A new service in England….Human Bed Warmers. True story…Since it’s easier to fall asleep in a warm bed than a cold one..the hotels are sending in staffers dressed in all over sleeping suits to slip into guests’ beds for 5 minutes and warm them up before they get in. A spokesman says it’s like having a giant hot water bottle in your bed. Sounds better than the flashlight I slept with last nite…LOL. Yeah..I was so worried I’d wake up this morning and would have no power. Guess that flashlight will be my buddy again tonite.
Can’t get over this weather….Do we have to recover from the drought in just 5 days?
Had a great weekend in San Luis Obispo…but came home to a dead battery… (I had driven Tori’s car down there) and then a dead phone. Dropped it in the washing machine….but as I told the guy at the store it was only for a second. Sam told me I should have given it a day or two to dry out…In fact the guy at the store says he’s heard that if you put the phone in a Ziploc bag with rice…it works after 3 days….but who can go three days without a phone not me. So I have a new one coming hopefully today.
I have the $50 deductible with my insurance, but since it’s the second time in a year I’ve used it…I guess I’ll get cancelled.
Wanted to mention Lovely Bones…. Christina and I saw it this weekend and it so upset us. We couldn’t get it out of our minds…and thoroughly depressed us. Sorry we saw it.
I keep avoiding Avatar, but Sam saw it and said it was great. Everyone loves it.
And since it is making a ton of money…could James Cameron use some of it to get a new haircut. Did he not look like a dufus(sp) at the Golden Globes?
And one last thing…..about the $10 donation to the Red Cross for Haiti. As of last night
They had made 22 million dollars via cell phone users’ texting HAITI to 90999.
That is wonderful...but I hear the money arrives faster if you donate directly to RedCross.org. I’m still happy I made the $10 text. In fact, I’ve done it twice.
It is so easy and while it’s not much money, at least I feel like I’ve done something for those poor people.

Happy weekend!!!!. Hard to believe we just had the holidays and time off . In fact I was off for 2 weeks but it’s always nice to have a weekend…..and a long weekend at that.
Not everyone gets Martin Luther King Day off, and it that’s you, it may make you feel better knowing we at KBAY don’t get President’s Day off. Our next day off won’t come until Memorial Day at the end of May. Now that will be a long haul!!!!
I’m going down to Cal Poly to see Christina. I try to go down once a month without fail. Wouldn’t you if your daughter was in San Luis Obispo? And since Tori went there too…
I almost feel like SLO is my home away from home. I love being with my daughters, but will admit, it’s a money weekend. We always have to eat at Firestones and Tahoe Joes or Guiseppes (sp) and then there are all the boutiques downtown…and my coupons never work for these places….LOL.... The bottom line is I just love being with my girls…I’m just fortunate, I can get down there as often as I can….
It’s not a bad weekend to stay at home though…Sam and his wife-Carol—
will have their fireplace going (wish I had one)….watching the football playoffs..
Sort of a tradition for them…the playoffs are on and Carol works on their taxes.
I don’t even want to think about taxes yet. …..out Monday to remember Martin Luther King Junior. Hard to believe that if he were still alive he’d be 81…..Wow!!!
Not only football on this weekend, but Sunday night the Golden Globes are on..
Thank goodness for the DVR. I think they’re on the same time as Desperate and Brothers and Sisters. You know what other TV show I’ve started watching….Joy Behar. I watch her at 6. Think it’s the CNN-Headline News channel…one up from Larry King…LOL..
She’s got guests….usually a panel for “Hot Topics” and then a main guest. Joan Rivers was on Thursday night….I just love her…!!!!It’s mainly her and without Elizabeth Hasselbeck butting in….. Maybe she should get the Tonight Show and get rid of both Leno and O Brien….Just kidding….
Have a great weekend…..just make sure you take some time

Can not stop laughing over General Larry on American Idol last night singing “Pants on the Ground”. It’s become the big Internet search of the day. I think it may be the funniest thing I’ve ever seen on Idol.
Pants on the ground
Pants on the ground
Lookin' like a fool with your pants on the ground
With the gold in your mouth
Hat turned sideways
Pants hit the ground
Call yourself a cool cat
Lookin' like a fool
Walkin' downtown with your pants on the ground
Get it up, hey!
Get your pants off the ground
Lookin' like a fool
Walkin' talkin' with your pants on the ground.
Get it up, hey!
Get your pants off the ground
Lookin' like a fool with your pants on the ground.
I think I’ve watched this You Tube ten times already. Not as funny as the Hangover…LOL..but it just really gets me laughing!!!!!! And just a warning…Sam saved the song, so it will probably be popping up when you least expect it.
So how many days still spring? Not ready to stop wearing sweaters just yet…
But will be soon….
It’s tanning that I really miss and for some reason I haven’t been in the mood. You can get away with being tan in the summer, but if you’re tan in the winter people know you’ve been going to the salon and that it’s not the real deal.
Project Runways Tim Gunn says no matter what the season..these are the ten essentials for every woman’s closet.
Classic Blazer or Jacket
Classic white shirt
A skirt
A day dress
A basic black dress
Black Pants
Jeans
A sweater
A trench coat
A sweat-suit alternative (think this is what stores like Ann Taylor Loft and Talbots now call lounge wear)
Think the only thing I’m missing is a Classic Blazer….
What does Tim hate? Sandals with socks and Crocs….(are they still selling those?)
Sam bought me a pair for my birthday a couple of years ago. I still have them because he and then my daughters bought those little do-dads for the Croc holes…..and they’re like charms….they all have some significance to your life….so thus the Crocs are still in my closet.
Sam and Lissa's Blog 1/13
Great story this morning…..Twin 9 year old girls didn’t like that their dad was singing in the car so they pulled his hair and punched his neck. He took them to the police station……said he wanted his daughters to learn a lesson about distracting a driver.
Sam says it depends on what the dad was singing…..that if it was the Pina Colada song the police should have arrested him.
Brought back memories of when my girls were little and we had carpool duty. Luckily, we had just one at a time….either Christina or Tori.
I think we had 4 girls total…3 neighbor kids and ours. Mike did Friday mornings, and I did afternoons. He was the donut dad…every Friday he would stop on the way to either Holy Spirit or Presentation and get the girls donuts…Yep..they loved him. When Christina was at Holy Spirit, there was a 7-11 across the street, so I’d take them in for a Slurpee or something, but once it was high school carpooling…I think I became annoying. The girls weren’t really friends, so they would never talk in the car so I did.I would try to bring them all into conversation. They probably couldn’t wait to get home!!!
Here’s some good advice from John Tesh who has the weekend morning shows on KBAY….You can help yourself with your diet and your budget by using the self checkout line at the grocery store. He says you’re so focused on the scanning process, you don’t see all the stuff in line for last minute purchases like snacks…soda and magazines. Isn’t that the truth….How many times while you’re waiting in a long line do you throw a candy bar or a pack of gum in your cart…..or start thumbing through a magazine…that you end up buying as well.
I do like those self checkout lines. They’re kind of fun. Only go to them though if I have ten items or less. It always takes me awhile, especially if I have produce. Plus I can’t tell you how many times I’ve done something that requires a clerk to come over.
And finally…if you remember anything ….remember this…..An Oxford University study that says having a big butt and thighs might actually be good for your health…that some fat is good fat…because it has hormones that help prevent heart disease and diabetis.
To sum it up…Oxford researchers like big butts…and they can not lie!!!!
Sam and Lissa's Blog 1/12
Did you hear…its been so cold back in the Midwest and East they’ve run
out of Snuggies… May be time as Sam says to switch over to a “slanket”.
You have a snuggie?. I bought one for my daughter Tori when they first came out because she’s always cold…I’m sorry I don’t get it…They’re not that great. They’re thin… Unless you’re sitting down, they fall right off of you….and they’re dangerous. It’s one size fits all….and when I tried it on….it was dragging on the floor. It was a cute gift idea….but too me…spend the 15 or so dollars and buy a nice “slanket”. A thick
“throw” is all I need….and a little space heater by my tootsies…
We’ll see if this catches on…..the Toasty. It’s a Snuggie with a heating element and thermostat built in. Will cost $60 and will be available in the spring when everyone wants to walk around with an electric blanket.
Forget about next year, I wonder how American Idol will do this year now that Simon Cowell has announced he’s leaving after this run….to work on the X-Factor which will also be on Fox. I’m thinking both he and Fox are throwing in the towel on Idol .
Idol and the X-Factor won’t run the same time…Idol is in January….X-Factor will start in September, but they’re both basically the same show….same type of judging and the rumor is Simon is going to snag Paula for the X-Factor. The only difference is…Simon will make even more money from the X-Factor as that show is totally his baby. He owns and produces it….hmmmm..maybe he’ll finally be able to afford a dress shirt. ..LOL.
With Idol starting tonite though, I guess I’ll have to give up on the Biggest Loser…
As much TV as I watch…I can’t do them all…especially with Southland and the Deep End starting up. Plus Melrose Place and Gossip Girl should be coming back soon. I should give up on the Bachelor. I now remember why I didn’t watch it for so many seasons…The problem is my daughter Tori loves it.
All that glitters is gold…….The KBAY Golden ticket is back…includes a face to face with John Mayer and 5th row seats to Michael Buble. One word…WOW!!!

Thought this was something kids are supposed to do…not someone in their …..
(40s or 50s). I almost ran out of gas on Saturday and in the worst spot…Highway 17
Between Santa Cruz and San Jose. I was on fumes by the time I got into Los Gatos. In fact, I think I pumped more gas into my car than it technically holds. I didn’t breathe the
last 10 minutes thinking that would help –LOL. I really thought I’d be pushing my car
The truth is I thought I’d be on the side of the road crying!!!
When I took my Dad out to dinner last nite and told him the story…he looked at me with that “parental eye” and said the CHP can give you a ticket for running out of gas. That we found out this morning from a listener is not true.
What is true is I would have yelled at my girls so loudly if they ran out of gas.
In fact the other day Christina got a speeding ticket going 40 in a 25. She was late for class and couldn’t find a parking spot. I gave it to her when she told me and then she text me back.” Mom…you almost had me believing that you never speed”.
Boy..love is in the air…
Michael Buble is engaged
Derek Jeter’s fiancé reportedly booked their wedding place over the weekend….it’s the same castle in Long Island where the Jonas kid got married last month.
A-J from the Backstreet Boys proposed to his girlfriend…
And the Subway guy Jared Fogle…popped the question to his school teacher girlfriend of a year…Actually his second marriage…her first. He’s gained back 40 of the 245 pounds he lost eating Subway….so he’s back to dieting. Wonder if he he’s switched to the Taco Bell diet. Doesn’t that ad look suspicious?
Not staying married apparently Tamra and Simon from the Real Housewives of Orange County. She hinted last Thursday of a divorce. These shows are taped so long ago though. I’m still waiting to see if anything is going to be said about Lynn and the fact that she and her husband owe a ton of money. If you watch the Bachelor. I think tonite is the episode when one of the bachelorettes is caught with a show producer and gets kicked off the show. I saw who it was but I don’t want to spoil it for you…
Sam and Lissa's Blog 1/8
Talk about a walk down Memory Lane….I got an e- mail from a one time listener
who has moved to San Diego. He had just been in Maui on the road to Hana… stopped at the Marriage Tree….(probably to calm his stomach down from that terrible windy road) and he was looking at this plague in front of the tree….where people write their names….and there was mine..Lissa Kreisler-94.5 KBAY. He said he was shocked. Didn’t realize Sam and I had listeners in Maui. I was shocked too..until I remembered I did that.
Had to be 15-20 years ago when Mike and I were trying to get to Hana on what I think was our 4th attempt. Yep…it is one of the worst roads to drive.. Every time, we got close to throwing up, we’d turn around. Anyway, I now remember that Mike said wouldn’t that be funny to leave your name and put in a plug for KBAY. I just can’t believe the plague is still there and my name hasn’t either been erased with time, or written over by someone else. Sam said when he was a kid, he etched his name into a park bench at the Rose Garden. He did go back years later to check and not only was his name gone….so was that particular bench.
Was reading that there is no longer a problem getting the Swine Flu Shot.
250 thousand doses were being sent to Santa Clara County…and with no restrictions on who could get one. I’m going to take my chances like I always do and not get any flu shot. But if you want one and aren’t sure where to get it….Morphosis Rejuvenation Studio in San Jose has them…SO next time you’re at Santana Row you may want to stop in for a minute. No appointment necessary they say….20 dollars cash per shot.
Looking for something to do this weekend? Sam is at the California Home Garden and Gourmet Show at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds Friday from 12-2…
You can put your name in the hopper for a brand new bathroom..an $8500
Remodel…and on Sunday..I’ll give it away…I’ll be out there from about 3-4:30…
Won’t cost you a penny to park or get in…which is very very cool.
The auto show is also going on at the San Jose Convention Center. That
costs though….although Sunday is Family Day and kids 12 and younger get in free when they’re with an adult. Sam and I went to one of the auto shows a few years ago. We had so much fun looking at all the cars. That’s when I decided someday I would get a Lexus…I think the some day came about 2 years later….

I’m “hip” for Hanes. They’ve dumped their advertising campaign
Featuring Charlie Sheen because of you know what. And while it just made news today, it turns out they did it on the 28th, just as soon as the Christmas weekend was over. So just about immediately. They wasted no time at all, saying it was a “pretty standard, straight- forward call… I guess it was too late to stop some of the print ads and that they said was “unfortunate”. Unlike a couple of the sponsors who cut ties with Tiger Woods, they didn’t wait to see how the story was going to unfold…they knew it was bad. Although in defense of the Tiger sponsors there was no way anyone knew how big that Thanksgiving “incident” was going to get.
I know they’re no Victoria Secret but go buy those Hanes….besides what other brand is as cheap as 7 pair for 7.99- LOL.
Did you see Seinfeld Star Jason Alexander has signed on to be the first male weight loss spokesperson for Jenny Craig? He hopes to prove that he’s “Master of his Chow Mein”.
Remember that episode? Let’s just hope that when he loses his 45 pounds he doesn’t pull a Valerie Bertinelli or Kirsty Alley and pose in a bikini…UGH!!!!
And what do you think is the truth behind David Hasselhoff’s departure from America’s Got Talent. He says it’s because he’s getting his own show….but come on….why would you give up the number one summer TV show on NBC for a reality show on A and E.
The Hasselhoffs are no Kardashians!!!! Wonder though if Paula Abdul will be hired.
Tomorrow….the end of our first week back from the holidays. Sam and I both looked at each other this morning and said we’re sleeping all weekend….. Sounds great, doesn’t it?
You know it’s not going to happen. I want to see that movie Leap Year, plus we’ve got the Home Garden and Gourmet Show at the Fairgrounds on Tully Road.
Sam will be there tomorrow from 12-2…Stop by Enter to win the $8,500 bathroom
I’ll be giving away Sunday afternoon at 4:30.

So who owns a Swiffer?…..a Swiffer Wet Jet. I bought one last week to clean
My laundry room floor from the “surprises” left behind over the holidays by Diesel… Christina’s 70 pound Pitbull/Whippet. I was so excited. It all looks so easy on the TV commercial, and I got the Swiffer on sale for 19-95. So sure my cleaning lady would love it, I immediately bought the refill pads and solution as well, since they were also on sale.
But after I put the thing together, and “Swiffed” the floor….the dirt was gone but my tiles were coated in some sort of film and since I’m not good at cleaning, my footprints were also all over the place. So I “swiffed” again…thinking I pushed the jet button too often.
Nope…even more film and footprints.
Sam and I laughed about it on the air and that set off two days of Swiffer chat. The boss owns one….loves it. Our Marketing Director owns one…loves it……listeners …not so in love…..and even Jona Denz-Hamilton checked in. She told me to get a Bona. Yeah…
There’s a mop called a Bona. (Hold the jokes—Sam has told them all) But then Marie called this morning….and said forget the Swiffer and the Bona….get Mr. Clean’s Magic
Eraser Mop. Let’s see…we have the Swiffer…the Bona and Mr. Clean. Sounds like the makings for a TV show.
I wish I enjoyed cleaning…wish I enjoyed cooking. My friend for Christmas bought me a framed sign that says “I only have a Kitchen because it came with the house.” Yep, I put it up immediately!!! So True. She told me she got it at T.J. Max just in case that’s you too!!!!
These are good…5 things we women hate to do in front of men…
Eating Messy food
Passing gas
Stalking People on Facebook.
Working Out
Watching TV Shows….huh…I’m thinking it’s when we watch shows like the Bachelor, or Keeping up with the Kardashians. I go along with 3 of the 5. What about you?
Speaking of the Bachelor…Jake is darn cute…but I think he’s a light-weight. Maybe that’s why he never gets past a first date. And some of those women.. with their corny lines….can I touch your “guns”…and your abs….or “I thought you should have been picked last season.” And that Christina with the jelly beans for all the other women who will be leaving the show. Can’t stand her…and Michelle from Anaheim seems psycho.
I like the gal who brought out a football, but I think she was one of those sent home. Ali is cute too. She’s from San Francisco has the blond hair and is afraid to fly. So many names at the beginning (25)…It’s like Dancing with the Stars. It takes a while to remember who everyone is.
Biggest Loser starts again tonite. Too many 2 hour shows for me to stick with. Have to pick and choose…and I’ve got to keep nights open for American Idol.

Sam and I were reading a story this morning that says the DVD is about to become obsolete…Just too many of us now watching our movies ON Demand with Comcast or getting Netflix. In fact…the story goes on to say…Quit buying them. Now they warn me. I think I have 100 DVD’s maybe even more. I don’t even have enough storage room for them, but for some reason I keep buying them. Most of them still have the plastic on them. But for reason, whenever I fall in love with a movie, I want to own it. May never watch it again, but hey I own it!!! In fact, I asked this morning if there was a DVD Anonymous organization, because I think I need to go. I haven’t even admitted to all the VHS’s I own from when the girls were little. Those, I think, I need to finally give away.
I kept buying all the Disney movies, figuring after my girls watched them, I would show them to my grandkids when they came over. Well, I still don’t have any grandkids and not only that I no longer have a VHS player. Does anyone?
But getting back to the DVD’s. Another reason why I don’t watch them is I can never figure out how to play them. I can get them into the DVD player, but I can never remember which remote I then need to use and how to get them to play on the TV.
And I guess it’s not just a girl thing. Sam has the same problem and Dana Jang told me he does to. Lonnie to the rescue though. She called this morning and said her husband bought her a “Smart Remote. It talks to you and steers you right through the entire process. She thinks it cost about $80. I jokingly asked her, if I could just borrow her husband….She said she doesn’t share!!!!
Sad I wasn’t going to watch Biggest Loser last night but I did. OMG…they’re really obese. I think one is almost at 500 pounds. But hey….good for them to get on this show. As one guy said he got picked out of thousands of people…..there was no way he wasn’t going to make the most of this. Was surprised though that since it’s a Couples Show, they sent home just one person…..one half of a twin-set. Didn’t think it was fair. These guys were among the heaviest, and they both lost 23 pounds but put together the loss was under 5 percent of their body weight, so they were at the bottom of the group. Those who didn’t weigh as much and also didn’t lose as much ended up with a higher percentage loss. It’s okay though. They showed the guy at the end of the show and in the weeks since going home he had managed to lose 100 pounds.
People’s Choice tonite..my least favorite of the awards show. Very scripted. No surprises and Queen Latifah seems to host every year. But the show before looks really funny. “I Get That a Lot”. A hidden camera show that has celebrities like Snoop Dog , Gene Simmons and Paris Hilton working normal jobs and pretending to be ordinary people when their fans recognize them. As Sam says…sounds like a celebrity Candid Camera.

Boy..is it great to back. Isn’t that the sign of a good vacation?….you’re ready to come back. But am I ever tired…Never fails, once you start living a “normal” life where you can have a glass of wine….stay up late....and not get up at 2:40am…you have trouble getting back into the routine. But here we are….the first Monday of a New Year at KBAY….number 6 for Sam and the start of 23 for me. And we each had stories to tell this morning…his New Years Eve with his wife-Carol- at Strawberry Lodge near Tahoe.
The festive time—wasn’t so—the band wasn’t great….the crowd was small and I’m not even sure they stayed till midnight. And then their big day of skiing turned into a bust when it rained and didn’t snow.
While sitting on the couch by myself New Years Eve..watching the ball drop on ABC…I quietly decided that next New Years Eve..I’ve got to find someplace to go….maybe Strawberry Lodge…ha ha.
Actually, I wasn’t all by myself. I had the 2 cats, Daisy –Tori’s dog---that apparently has become mine…and Diesel…Christina’s dog..that will never become mine. Daisy is a Shitzu that weighs 11 pounds and Diesel is a pit-bull/whippet that weighs 75 pounds…enough to make the seat belt buzzer goes off every time he sits in the car.
Diesel is the sweetest dog, but is way to big for a 1500 square foot townhouse with no backyard….and when his Mom (Christina) isn’t around all he does is cry for her and create “ruckus”. He creates a lot of “ruckus”….way too much for my little house.
Ok, I’ve said that twice now. I’m already worried that when she becomes a teacher in less than 2 years, she won’t make enough to live on her own and will try to sneak back with her dog. Oh..please don’t let it happen!!!!!!! I think I even forced her out of the house and back to Cal Poly a few hours earlier than planned...
I’m a bad Mom…
Thought Desperate Housewives was a little weird last night…Didn’t enjoy it at all, especially when you realized the many sad things that happened from that lite plane crash. This time, the bad stuff did happen to some of the main characters.
Haven’t watched Brothers and Sisters yet…but I’m sure that was sad too….
When isn’t that show sad?
We’ll see how the Bachelor is tonite. Next week is what I’m really waiting for…American Idol comes back…..Fox Network always sends us an American Idol goodie to get ready for the new season. Last year it was a small Gumball Machine . One year it was a talking Simon Cowell bobble head, but they may have outdone themselves this time….with an American Idol TV tray. Looks like one from the 70s….it’s all aluminum…blue and white with the big logo on top…I’m taking that one home..
Yep..when it comes to American Idol stuff…Sam always defers to me…
2 DAYS!!
Hi - Sam here - just 2 days left in this tired, old year!! If you're like me, you're ready for a new one. Read a clever joke; back in January, would you have believed you'd have a better year than Tiger Woods & Michael Jackson? What a year! The first African-American President, a big flu scare, Jon & Kate separate, the balloon boy bust, the Michael Jackson bye-bye, the White House party crashers, and a huge recession that taught us to smile when things get tough. Here's hoping the New Year's one big ride UP! Lissa will be back on Monday, and that always picks me up. Meanwhile let's ride out this old year together. I'll be smiling on New Year's Day - we'll be skiing & I hope you're smiling too! Happy New Year!
Ho Ho Ho
Happy After Christmas sales! Hope your Holiday was really really good! Lissa was off to Auburn for a Sierra Christmas last week, and Carol...my wife and I went to Sly Park to spend Christmas Eve with her family, then up to Sierra-at-Tahoe Christmas morning for some righteous skiing! The weather was perfect! Not a cloud in the sky, and the snow was deep and fresh - we stayed until the crowd got unmanageable, then headed down to my cousin Sandy's house in Davis for some Christmas pie - great day! Today I came back to "regular" music and quiet phones at KBAY, but Theresa did call with the question "What's the difference between Santa & Tiger Woods? Answer; Santa only has 3 "ho's". (rimshot here).
Laurie Roberts & I talked about recent movies, wondering why "The Princess and the Frog", which got good reviews, did so poorly, and "Chipmunks Movie - The Squeakwill" got bad reviews and is a hit?! I guess Lissa's right - the critics aren't all that important to us movie-goers. I saw "Sherlock Holmes" and loved it, although it moves so fast it's hard to follow sometimes, and Sherlock's love interest, Rachel McAdams, didn't do a thing for me. Just give me a mystery and some action and leave the kissing to princesses and frogs!
Have a great day - talk to you tomorrow!
Hard Candy Christmas
Well, my partner Lissa is on Christmas vacation and I have to say I miss that little elf! She's off to Grass Valley - didn't they tell her there's no mall there? I'm off to Placerville, then up to the Sierra to ski on Christmas Day - yayyyy! KBAY's "Christmas Spirit" award goes to a boy named Reese, who called from Almaden Valley to tell us he & his family put together a bag of toys for Toys for Tots and took them to the local fire station yesterday. He gave a Barbie Doll (Lissa's favorite) and a remote-controlled truck (my favorite) and a bunch of other toys - what a great kid, huh? If you want to give, they need toys for toddlers at Toys for Tots - kids 3yrs old & younger - and you can drop new unwrapped toys at your local fire station or the marines' location on Market street. So, what did we learn today? We learned that for people, poinsettias are NOT poisonous - still not sure about cats & dogs - keep 'em away. You can't avoid gaining weight by avoiding eating at night - and the only cure for a hangover is not to get one in the first place! Happy celebrating!

I’m out of here… yep….vacation starts. Not going anyplace other than Grass Valley for Christmas. Will be an experience too. We’re going up to Tori's boyfriend’s family. We usually stay at their home, but this year we have Christina’s new edition….Diesel..the 70 pound pit bull-whippet so we’re staying at a hotel. Wasn’t that hard to find a hotel up there that takes dogs. Grass Valley-Auburn…It’s dog country, but it was hard finding a hotel that took a dog bigger than 30 pounds. And you know what I’ve learned about dogs that weigh over 30 pounds. You can’t hide them…Ha ha…
It’s so wonderful having children that have dogs. That’s how I have the other dog…Daisy the Shitzu…She was Victoria’s until she went to China for 2 years..and than grandma got her.
Sam will be here next week as always…He uses most of his vacation time earlier in the year like February when ski season is well underway. Although he and his wife –Carol- will go to the mountains to see Carol’s family and then on Xmas Day they’re going skiing.
Sam and I exchanged gifts this morning. Boy do we know each other. I got him Season 2 of Mad Men. I gave him Season 1 last year….and guess what, next year I will give him Season 3. And I know he likes to stop at McDonalds on his way home sometimes, so
I got him a couple of Mickey D gift cards.
And he got me Season 2 of Gossip Girls and a scarf and gloves. I love scarves….
And I love Gossip Girls. Last year, I remember, he went all over town in search of the Gossip Girl game.
Since I’m out of here..I have to use up just a few more Christmas goodies…because I can’t save them till January.
****Which holiday activities do men like the least? Shopping for gifts tops the list, followed by attending office parties, and having to spend time with relatives.
****Are we turning into Scrooges? Only 38 percent say they will give a charitable gift this holiday. (Now, that’s not good)
****Favorite Xmas movie? A Christmas Story (Sam’s favorite) followed by It’s a Wonderful Life, Scrooged and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
****Where did Rudolph come from other than the North Pole? Montgomery Ward. Yes back in 1939 an ad copywriter wrote a poem about Rudolph to help lure in customers. It worked!!!!
And on Donner…and Blitzer……
Have the best of holidays..and eat lots of Moose Munch and Peppermint Bark….

Christmas by the numbers….. 84 million cookies will be left out for Santa Christmas Eve.50 million copies of Bing Crosby’s White Christmas have be sold. And 37 seconds is the average time a child spends on Santa’s Lap at Macys.
According to Sam though, it could be a lot longer if you take your child to the Macys in Hayward. He was there the other day about 1 and Santa and his Elf were the only one in the “workshop”. I don’t know why but this just got me remembering Santa’s Village in Scotts Valley. Remember that place? I think someone told me the sign is finally gone. I went there many many times growing up!!!
Until yesterday, I didn’t care if we had a Christmas Party at KBAY. But I’m so glad we did. It was lunch at Morton’s in downtown San Jose and it was just the best. Noone but co workers, lasted for about 2 hours, fabulous food and service and just one “nice” time.
And then last night, a tradition with my Morgan Hill girlfriends…Janette, Suz, Sharon, Jan, Joan, Teresa, Dawn and M-I-A Nancy. Actually we all became friends in Morgan Hill, but now Sharon and I live in Willow Glen and Dawns in San Martin. But we’ll always be the Morgan Hill gang.
Dinner was at Mangia’s Pizza if you know the place. We do make our presence known, I’m afraid. And the gift exchange was so wonderful…The rule was a candle $25 or less…and yes..we do that thing where you can pick and steal. We all loved what we ended up with. It was just one of those warm and fuzzy evenings that sometimes only girlfriends can have. Dawn was talking about how every Christmas she takes out gifts we gave her over the years at these holiday get togethers. She’s got one from all of us and she knows exactly who gave what.and just loves the memories. So sweet…
Also had a chance to celebrate Joan’s birthday. She always misses out because her birthday is at the end of the month, and like we do for everyone’s birthday..we don’t give gifts just funny funny cards.
One more thing about last nite. It was Pasquale Esposito’s night to sing there. If you’ve never heard this Italian singer, keep an ear out. He is just great. He makes a lot of appearances around town..also sings internationally. He is worth looking for. I think he has a website. Google him…
If you missed it this morning, Sam and I had the annual holiday tipping guide. Ignore…(ha ha) or read on…
1. YOUR GARDENER. $20 to $50. But if he comes over all the time and does a lot for you, you can give up to a week's pay.#2. YOUR HANDYMAN. $15 to $40, depending on how much you've had him do.
#3. YOUR TRASH AND RECYCLING COLLECTORS. If it's a private service, tip $10 to $30 total. If it's run by the city, check their regulations on the Internet. They might not allow tipping.
#4. YOUR DOG WALKER. A week's pay or a gift worth that amount.
#5. YOUR CHILD'S TEACHER. Don't give money. Assuming the school allows gifts, try to spend $25 or less, and include a handwritten note.
#6. YOUR DAY-CARE STAFF. If it's just one person, then $50 to $100 is appropriate. If it's a team of people, $20 to $25 each is fine. And pair it with a homemade gift from your child.
#7. YOUR BABYSITTER. Give cash or a gift that's equal to one or two night's pay. You can give her a present instead, but avoid kid-oriented gifts. In other words, don't buy something for your kid, then try to pass it off as a legitimate gift for your babysitter
#8. YOUR NEWSPAPER DELIVERYMAN. If it's an adult, $10 to $30, or the price of one month's subscription. If it's a kid, you can get away with giving less.
#9. YOUR CLEANING LADY. Up to a week's pay and a small gift.
#10. YOUR PERSONAL TRAINER, YOGA INSTRUCTOR, OR MASSAGE THERAPIST. Whatever one visit costs. Or give a modest gift, but avoid unhealthy things like chocolate and cookies.
Tomorrow, maybe a gift for you. We’ve got a pair of tickets for the Joe Sharino New Years Eve Party and at 7:40..a $1000 gift card from Westfield-Valley Fair. Get your name in at KBAY.COM

This was my favorite “tidbit” of the day. If you want to keep your weight down during the holidays, you eat dessert first. Love it!!! They say if you know you’re going to eat the cookies or the cheesecake anyway, have them first, even if it spoils your appetite for dinner. You’ll end up taking in less calories by not eating a full dinner. Better than eating the full dinner and the full dessert which you know you’ll do. It won’t be the most nutritionally balanced meal of your life…but heck… it’s one meal…and boy was it yummy!!!!
Hope it’s not to late for this…..the 5 holiday shopping scams to avoid…or how not to leave a store with a big “sucker” stamped on your forehead.
Don’t buy extended warranties. They can cost a mint and in most cases, they’re never used. So be careful in the electronics department…and ask to read a warranty before you sign it.
Don’t get tricked into over buying. Stores put related products near each other so you’ll buy one and then buy the other one without thinking.
Don’t shop at the end of the aisle. Don’t assume everything at the end is on sale. The retailers know it seems that way which is why they often put full priced items there instead.
Beware of buy-one-get-one-free-sales. If you really need two, then it’s usually a great deal, but if it’s something you can’t use and don’t need, then it’s an awful deal.
Read the Return Policy. It’s often printed on the back of the receipt. And some charge a restocking fee if you bring something back and the factory seal is broken. I’m still wondering if I’m going to be in trouble. I bought some presents at a store that has a 30 day return policy which will expire before Christmas. I’m hoping they take that into account....but who knows…
I know I’m not the only one in this “state” right now. I have some sort of a stomach bug….but who has the time to slow down…not this time of year.. Yesterday, after work I had to go to Stanford Shopping Center, to pick up a gift on hold, then drive to Morgan Hill to have lunch with Christina before she drove back to Cal Poly, then I had do a few more errands and today, we’ve got the KBAY holiday lunch and then tonite, my Christmas dinner with my Morgan Hill girlfriends…..and on and on and on.. It doesn’t seem to end does it?…Tis the Season….Oy Vey!!!!

We still can’t figure out what this next decade is going to be called….and we’d better hurry. It starts in 17 days.. but we do know what items have become obsolete the last ten years. Take a tally…..see how many you still have in your life.
#1.) Answering machines
#2.) Lickable stamps
#3.) Foldable maps
#4.) Cathode ray tube TVs
#5.) Incandescent light bulbs
#6.) Paying for pornography
#7.) Smoking in bars . . . which is on its way out, even in states where it's still allowed
#8.) Fax machines
#9.) Hydrox cookies (--which are similar to Oreos)
#10.) Cassette tapes
#11.) Floppy disks
#12.) Phone books
#13.) Polaroid photos
#14.) Bank deposit slips . . . which are in the process of being replaced by check-reading ATMs
#15.) Subway tokens
#16.) The Rolodex
New York Magazine came up with these.
I’m still stuck on 12. If phone books are so obsolete, why do I still get about ten different ones on my doorstep?
Listeners added a couple more this morning…like the video store. How many Blockbuster gift cards do you still have in your wallet. I have two.
And what about full-serve gas pumps. Now, it’s called a gas station with a car wash.
I remembered today why I don’t like ordering things online. I ordered some
Pajamas. Got them in the wrong size…the wrong style. Plus this particular company doesn’t include an invoice in your package, so my question is how do you return them. Oh…wait a minute. The website says to call them for information on returns. I did. No answer….. Thank you very much!!!!
Yesterday, I called the shoe department at a Macy’s on and off for what I think amounted to two hours. Finally thought to call back and ask for a store Manager. Bingo…. The guy was great. He went to the shoe department, found my shoes and put them away for me… Now, that’s what I call great Customer Service…Was very very impressed.
Sam loves the story about the two grocery shoppers (not local) who had to be rushed to the hospital after they fought over a shopping cart. The man was 74. The woman 35. As Gramps wrestled the cart from the lady, her 24 year old brother punched the man and floored him. Gramps got up and went after them, finding them at the deli counter so he picked up a Salami as the woman hit him with a 4 pound piece of Parmesan. Okay…here’s Sam’s punch line….Holiday stress brings out the “liverwurst” in all of us.
How about shopping cash..to the amount of $1000. We have our final three Westfield gift cards to give away Friday. We can’t call your name if we don’t have it. Go to KBAY.Com and make the Connection.

I’m guessing we’re the station of choice for dogs and cats everywhere.
I was reading over the weekend that almost 6 of ten pet owners sing Christmas
Carols to their furry friends. We’ll save you the effort…just turn up the radio…ho ho ho!!!!
Can’t believe how much Sam and I did this weekend…..Saturday, we of course had Stuff the Bus for Toys for Tots and thank you so much for coming out…even in the rain. We filled one VTA bus and part of another, and then after that we had the Michael McDonald
concert at the Civic Auditorium. In between I went home and took a little nap, but Sam went shopping to Valley Fair, which is where I was Friday night. And I’ve got to tell you I was amazed at how friendly people were Friday night, including the workers. And it was packed, but everyone seemed to be in great spirits.
If it’s convenient for you, and you’re driving from downtown to Valley Fair try and take San Carlos. It’s so much easier than getting caught in that huge back up on 280 as you get off at the 17-Oakland interchange. That thing can be backed up for miles
And another shopping tip. Customer service and satisfaction is highest when stores first open—so head out on weekday mornings. Not only will the shelves be fully stocked and organized, but sales people will be well-rested and more likely to help you out. Makes sense…just hope you can get away in the morning.
Don’t you wonder sometimes how they get the stores all cleaned up by the morning…especially the Women’s Shoe Department at Macys. LOL!!!!!
And if you’re in need of more cash…who isn’t. But we have another 3 $1000 gift cards from Westfield Shopping Center to give away on Friday. Make sure you’ve gone to KBAY.Com. I was telling Sam this morning the last week or two before Christmas can be the costliest. You stop keeping track of what you’ve spent and go out and get just “a few” more gifts.
So who’s a shortimer? That’s what Sam always calls the last week of work before vacation..and sure enough this is my last week before I take the rest of the year off.
Sounds like a long time when you say the rest of the year off, but its just 2 weeks and a couple of those days are holidays. So many people take the last part of the year off. I’ve been doing it for years, rarely go anyplace, but just like to wind down and be able to enjoy the holidays “nights and mornings”.

Looks like a stormy day is on tap for tomorrow (Sat)…
Makes no difference to us though, we’ve got our big Stuff the Bus Toys for Tots
event in downtown San Jose. We’ve done it before in the rain. Doesn’t matter, just gives us a little more to laugh about…a little more excitement. What’s that song….Singing in the Rain? Hope you’ll still come out too. We’re on the Market Street side of the Christmas in the Park.(plaza de cesar chavez park) You can’t miss the VTA bus. It will be parked right across from the Fairmont Hotel and will have the big Toys for Tots and KBAY banners wrapped around it. The left lane will be blocked off for you to drive right through. The Marines will be curbside and all you have to do is roll down your window. They’ll take the toys and give you a KBAY holiday CD. So many kids in the Santa Clara Valley are counting on you. Lots of parking lots in the area too, if you want to come on over to the KBAY booth. Sam and I will be right smack in the middle of it all doing our show from 10-2. We should have some surprises too. Stuff the Bus comes just once a year and a “little” rain isn’t going to spoil it. Too much good comes of it. Ho Ho Ho…
Here’s a “read before attending the holiday party”..
#1.) DO act as if you're being observed. Because you are.
#2.) DON'T talk about work. Well, okay, you can a little. But not a lot, and definitely not exclusively.
#3.) DO ask about a dress code. Typically, you'll be shooting for a slightly "fancier" version of your usual professional look.
#4.) DON'T spend the whole evening talking to the colleagues you spend all day with.
#5.) DO take this chance to get to know your other coworkers . . . and your boss . . . a little better.
#6.) DON'T drink too much. And if photos are being taken, put down your drink first.
#7.) DO act like you're happy to be there . . . even if you aren't. Your company is footing the bill, so try and act grateful.
#8.) DON'T flirt. With anyone. It's just a bad, bad idea.
#9.) DO take the opportunity to network with people in other departments, the higher-ups in the company, etc.
#10.) DO stay at the party for at least an hour. Otherwise, you'll give the impression that you didn't really want to be there in the first place.
#11.) DON'T be the last one to leave.
#12.) DON'T make a pig of yourself at the food table. You can eat later if you're still hungry.
#13.) DO speak and act in ways that make you appear intelligent, agreeable and sane.
#14.) DON'T talk politics or religion. And never tell dirty jokes, or use foul language.
#15.) DO choose subjects that are cordial and uplifting . . . like hobbies, travel or books.
#16.) DON'T pull rank by, say, forcing your subordinates to get your drinks for you. That's really not cool.
#17.) DO hold your beverage in your left hand so that your right hand will be free and dry when you shake hands. (???)
#18.) DON'T gossip. It's neither the time nor the place.
#19.) DO find out first if guests are invited. And if they are, only bring someone who will reflect well on you.
#20.) DON'T forget to thank the party organizers.
You can thank me later…for saving your job … LOL

Hey…that’s my parking space…and it’s my parking space till I
leave.!!!! Couldn’t believe it yesterday. I was at Oakridge
and I was in my car…getting organized for the drive home (ha ha)
And all of a sudden a guy honks at me…..good and loud .He wants my space.
Hello….what if I wasn’t leaving. …I’m entitled to stay in that spot as long as I want.
And yes I did give him a Christmas greeting when I pulled out!!!!!
Now Sam is a gentleman…he said he actually leads people to his spot if he’s leaving.
I’ve done that too…but more than likely someone is following me to my spot and I’m going to drop things off…and in that case, I wave them off. Nothing gets me more nervous though when I’m getting into my car and already there’s a line behind me of people wanting my spot. I’m not a great driver (if you haven’t heard)
And I’m always worried I’ll back into someone or cut it too tight and hit the car next to me.
Parking lots are the worst, even during non holidays. So many people speed or don’t see you or vice versa. I’ve had 2 accidents in a parking lot.
I missed the boat on Barbara Walter’s Most Fascinating Person of the Year. Sam got it right picking Michelle Obama, And I’m thinking he’d get this right too.
The top TV show of the Decade is one of his favorites…..The Sopranos.
Mine too….although he watched it the first time around. I watched the last season first and then worked backwards on Comcast.
SO here they are…..the top ten shows of the decade according to Entertainment Weekly:
1.Sopranos
2. Lost
3.Daily Show with Jon Stewart
4.American Idol
5.Arrested Development
6.The Wire
7. The Office (British version)
8.The Shield
9.Gilmore Girls
10. The Comeback. (huh…Lisa Kudrow was in it and it lasted just 13 episodes)
How many do you watch or have watched? I can’t believe with all the time I spend in front of the TV, I watch just 2….Sopranos and American Idol.
Toys for Tots started on this day in 1946 (where do the years go-ha ha)
Stuff the bus with Toys for Tots is this Saturday in downtown San Jose from 8-6 with Sam and I doing our show from there between 10-2. I think we filled close to two buses last year, and sure hope we can do it again this year….the need is so much greater.
Been awhile since we’ve had to do it in the rain, but this may be the weekend for that.
Doesn’t matter….You don’t even have to get out of your car if you don’t want to, and if you do…just have an umbrella. It’s always so much fun….and so heart warming to see all the car clubs come down overloaded with toys and bikes…plus individuals and families walking by with a toy or two. We will have lots of KBAY Holiday CD’s to give away.

Lets put in our votes now…before 10. Barbara Walters most fascinating person of the year. We already know 9 of the 10… Michael Jackson’s 3 kids…Paris, Prince Michael and Blanket, (they count as one) Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, Brett Favre, Tyler Perry, Adam Lambert, Lady Gaga, Jenny Sanford ( wife of adulterous SC Gov Mark Sanford and Kate Gosselin.
SO I figured number ten…the most fascinating person would be Jon Gosselin.
Why did she pick just Kate? I thought that was a clue….. And remember, fascinating doesn’t have to mean the person is “good”, just a person we have spent a lot of time talking about. But then we got some calls this morning…with fascinating names like
President Obama, Michelle Obama, and then came the two that are real possibilities…
Captain Sully Sullenberger and Taylor Swift.
Too bad, Walters taped this special a couple of weeks ago…otherwise, we could have have had yet ANOTHER story on Tiger Woods!!!
And a by the way….is there any chance he can survive all of this. When the story first broke the day after Thanksgiving, “the experts” said of course……but that was before
all of the allegations started coming in. It’s hard to believe everything that is being said and even if half of it is true….its so shocking. I know he’s the Worlds Greatest Golfer, and with his talent, its hard to believe that will change in the near figure, but how long will it be until we can talk about his great golfing game without mentioning the other part. How will Marshalls be able to stop people from taunting him at tournaments? And will we ever be able to look at him again without thinking about his 11 mistresses….Isn’t that what we’re up to now. And now I read that more text messages have gotten out…..these from Rachel Uchitel…..that include nasty things he said about his wife. He is a Scumbag!!!!!
Sorry to see that CBS is cancelling As the World Turns after 53 years on the air…
Not that I watch it but that will be 2 cancellations by CBS and I’m worried Young and the Restless could be next. Although that one would be a shocker because of all the soaps still on….it does have the most viewers. The rumor is ABC might be next and cancel One Life to Live.
Christmas Cards…fair to say not as many are being given or sent this year…Sam and I each have gotten just one. I haven’t even gotten one yet from my Dentist Les Sugimoto…and he always sends them out…After a listener guessed that she and I probably had the same dentist (she was right) I called his office……oops!!!! (think they’re still sitting in someone’s car)
When you do send out cards how about adding this one in:
A Recovering American Soldier
c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center 6900 Georgia Avenue, NW

A good lesson this morning from school teachers.
What holiday gift gets an A…and what one gets a C.
Can’t say D or F because there’s not one teacher who isn’t grateful to get
any kind of gift from a student…. But they’ve made it clear..they have enough
ceramic mugs, enough novelty items that have an apple on it, and candles plus scented hand lotion. As one teacher said this morning, they can’t burn candles in class, and how many hand lotions can they use. I must admit I try never to buy those hand lotions from places like Bath and Body Works. I absolutely love that store, but I don’t think I’ve ever used a single lotion I’ve been given. I use everything else though…their soap, hand sanitizer, warm socks, sleep therapy, and their candles…oh my…. I think they have the best smelling candles, so to the teacher who had enough candles, I say take them home or bring them to me. I love burning candles!!! And I love giving them as gifts.
SO what do teachers love to get… gift cards, especially for bookstores. Almost every teacher who called loved those. And most of them said they weren’t buying books for themselves, but for the classroom. Move theater gift cards are great too. One teacher called…Gail…and she’s hoping for gift cards to Best Buy. Says if she gets enough she can buy a computer or software for her classroom. So sad to think what teachers have to do these days…out of their own pocket….especially when I realize my daughter Christina will be doing that in less than 2 years when she gets her credential…..AND HOPEFULLY GETS A JOB!!!
Need a girlfriend gift? Julia and Julia is out on DVD today..perfect for the friend who loves to cook. You could even make a basket up…and put a few little kitchen items in it. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is out today too. Then next Tuesday…
The Hangover…… been waiting for this for months…
Sam did his Toys R Us run yesterday. With all of his grandchildren….glad I wasn’t in line behind him. He’s still talking about “Barbie Heaven”…I remember when I had Barbies (way back when) all we had were dolls and a few outfits. Her cars, RV’s, homes, spas, beauty salons…etc….came much later.
Hopefully you’ll have time between now and Saturday morning to run out to Toys R Us or any store….Our big Toys for Tots drive is this Saturday. Would be great if we could fill not one…but two transit buses this year. And as always, we’ll have the Marines curbside taking your toys and handing out the KBAY holiday CD. Sam and I do our show from there between 10-2.. And “there” is at Christmas in the Park alongside Market Street almost directly across from the Fairmont.

Can’t tell you how much fun it was spending the weekend in San Francisco. Tori and I had such a good time. Thank goodness, the rain held off until we got home although it was really cold Saturday night and Sunday. Union Square is so beautiful during the holidays and at night when you look at Macys with lighted wreaths on every window…it’s just breathtaking. And the window displays are so great….especially the ones on the side that have the Humane Society pets in them. You’ve got to walk all the way around. We stayed one block from Union Square at Parc 55…(overnite and parking for $175…now that’s a deal), but we walked through
The Westin St. Francis. They always have 2 beautiful trees and a huge gingerbread castle like you’ve never seen before. It takes the Chef 400 hours to make it.
The funniest thing though, and I will admit it when I’m with my girls we are pretty silly, but at Macy’s I bumped into a mannequin…and almost hard enough to knock it over. I didn’t realize “it” wasn’t a real person, so I said I’m sorry and apparently loud enough for many to hear. We were all cracking up. Still makes me giggle. I felt so bad that I had almost knocked over this “person”.
We went down to Fisherman’s Wharf as well. Not as decorated as Union Square, but
Crowded as heck. We ate at Alioto’s. Hadn’t eaten there in years. Took a cab down, but the cable car back. Experienced it all!!!! And got lots of shopping done. It’s so nice when you’re able to stay down there because you can drop off your bags at your hotel room and take off again.
Sam and his wife-Carol—got their Christmas tree up yesterday. Was able to get a nice one at Home Depot for $40, which sounds like a good deal to me. Weren’t they close to $100 last year? I just take my Martha Stewart 6’ artificial tree out of the box, put the 3 pieces together and plug it in….Still have to put on ornaments of course, but that doesn’t take long. I’ve switched from “kids” ornaments to grown-up ones and don’t need as many.
If you missed the concert announcement this morning Michael Buble will be at the Oracle Arena in April..and starting tomorrow morning we will have tickets to give away.
They go on sale Friday morning, so you can win them before you can buy them.
And don’t forget our Toys for Tots drive is Saturday on the Market Street side of Christmas in the Park. You can drop off with curbside service from 9-6 and Sam and I will do our show from there….from 10-2…so if you can come by then. As long as we have KBAY holiday CD’s we’ll be giving those away as well. Maybe you can make a whole day of it. The Michael McDonald holiday concert at the Civic Auditorium is in the evening.

Ever wonder what your pets do when you’re at work or gone from the house for awhile?
I like to think my cats Tobey Tobes and Chloey are pining away for me….and counting the minutes till I return…ha ha. In fact…usually Tobey Tobes is waiting for me on the
stairs right by the door. But the truth is out…
--22 percent of the cats' time was spent looking out a window
--They spend 15 percent of their day grooming
--12 percent was used to interact with other family pets
--8 percent was spent climbing on chairs or kitty condos
--6 percent was spent on looking at a television or computer
--6 percent was spent on hiding under tables
--and just 6 percent of their time was spent napping
--Coming in at five percent was playing with toys; eating or looking at food finished at four percent.
Must be true….50 housecats were given collar cameras that took a photo every 15 minutes.
I still believe though that my Tobey Tobes sits on that bottom stair waiting for me the entire time…Chloey, on the other hand, I’m sure is napping.
In case you haven’t heard enough Tiger Woods jokes…Sam and I have five more…
·What were Tiger Woods and his wife doing on Thanksgiving? (Clubbing)
·Tiger’s wife was asked how many time she hit the car window to get him out? She said: “6 or 7, but put me down for 4.”
·Why did Tiger run into a fire hydrant and a tree? (He couldn’t decide between an iron or a wood.)
·What’s the difference between a car and a golf ball? (Tiger Woods drives a ball 300 yards.)
·What’s Tigers new name? Cheetah!!!
The second one is my favorite!!!
Hope you have a fun weekend planned. I guess this is the big weekend to get the tree and put up the decorations. I’m taking Tori to San Francisco’s Union Square for shopping and holiday
D display “gazing”. Sam was there with his Grandchildren…and said Macys has the best displays with kittens in the windows. He also took them ice skating and they did better than he did. He fell right on his rear-end…and said everything in his pockets went flying….the cell phone…keys…hand sanitizer.. What hurt the most, he said, was when a couple of skaters stopped and asked “Can we help you, Sir”. Ouch!!!
Sam and Lissa's Blog 12/3
What’s with this exhaustion? DO you have it too? Sam and I were laughing this morning. I’m still getting my 4 and a half hours sleep, but barely have any energy. SO we’ve decided I’m “over-stimulated” by all the holiday stuff. Just too much to look at….too much to think about……and then there’s the shopping, the holiday get togethers, the
“lets go have a glass of wine”…. Maybe that’s the problem….too many glasses of wine…LOL!!!!... too much time reading Tiger Woods stories…oops..how did that sneak in?
Still can’t get over that “second life” of his. Maybe his close buddies aren’t surprised, but
I think the rest of us are. I can’t even imagine being his wife? She too seemed like such a private person, and now we all know their dirty laundry…..and boy, it will take many spin cycles to get it all clean.
What will they think of next? A Rent-a-Christmas tree. I don’t know if they’ve got them here, but there are companies that will let you rent a Xmas tree. You order online, it will be delivered to your home and then once Christmas is over, the tree will be picked up and replanted in either the woods or in a nursery where it will be cared for until next Christmas. The price is good $100.
Boy, was I lost this morning. I left without my cell phone. Such a terrible feeling
Because it’s my only lifeline to my girls. This may have been the first morning that I didn’t talk to Tori 2 or three times. They’re never long conversations…just a Good Morning Hello or a moment to share something funny. Christina doesn’t usually start calling me until after 9, after her first class down at Cal Poly. Yeah, ask Sam..I do talk to my daughters OFTEN…..
Sam’s doing something adorable today..picking up his grandchildren and taking them over to the Cheesecake Factory for an early dinner. He’s such a good Grandpa…
But I’m guessing they still have to order a meal before dessert. All I can say is never look at the nutritional-calorie count when you go to the Cheesecake Factory. If you do, you’ll end up ordering one of their Weight Management Salads. Believe me, I know.
And I so want to try the Red Velvet Cheesecake…
Can’t believe I missed the Rockefeller Tree Lighting Special on TV last night. Forgot all about it and instead watched Melrose Place from the night before. I sure hope Heather Locklear improves the ratings …because I just love that show….My type of trash!!!!
Well, this week went by quickly…Tomorrow, we’ve got the $1000 Westfield Shopping Center gift cards to give away. Winners will be picked from KBAY.Com…so make sure you’ve made the KBAY Connection.
Sam and Lissa's Blog 12/2
Who is in Sam’s category? He hasn’t bought a single present
for Christmas…which means nothing yet for his wife-Carol—
Or his KBAY wife-Me!!!! But it this is you as well, some helpful tips from
Real Simple Magazine. Actually, my subscription has run out and I chose not to renew so these tips really came from John Tesh who does the weekend morning shows on KBAY.
I love his front office because they always send me great e mails on stuff right up my alley…like SHOPPING!!!
It’s all about online shopping though, which I still haven’t grasped as I love to see and touch before I buy. But if you’re into convenience and simplicity see if these help you out. Most major online retailers like Kohl’s, Target and Best Buy—usually make their website changes overnight while you’re sleeping….from 1-4am. It’s like restocking the shelves when the store is closed. So log on when you get up and get first crack at the sales.
Another good website is GotaDeal.com They post ads and circulars weeks before the
Sales start date, and have all sorts of stuff from clothing to technology to house wares.
ShipItToMe.com is a site looks for good clothing sales. A lot of times the info is put on Twitter or Facebook….Still can’t get over how fast news can travel via Twitter of Facebook. Last week, right before Thanksgiving, Sacred Heart Community Services in San Jose was in desperate need of turkeys. They had hundreds of families counting on them, so they posted it on Facebook and almost instantly, turkey upon turkey was delivered.
Just whatever you buy online, print out your receipts. It’s not “game over” when you make your buy. Keep an eye on prices for a couple of weeks. A lot of stores will make an adjustment to your credit card if the item you bought drops in price.
But as John Tesh reminded me, retailers this year have a lot less inventory, so you take a risk if you don’t buy quickly in hopes the price will fall.
P.S …Sam, if you’re reading this…don’t wait much longer …LOL!!!
And let me mention this once more…This Friday, we’ll have three more $1000
Westfield Shopping Centre Gift Cards to give away. Only one way to get one….make the KBAY Connection at KBAY.Com.
They’re lighting the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree tonite…77 years they’ve been doing this…On NBC at 8. Michael Buble will be singing..so will Barry Manilow.Where are my fellow Fanilows? He’s closing down his show at the Vegas Hilton and moving it to the Paris hotel-casino. I think I might have to go again. When we saw him at the Hilton, in order to get great seats, we had to buy a hotel package deal, but the Hilton is so far away from the center of the Strip….so now with the Paris..he’ll be right in the middle of the action. His Hilton show ends Dec 30th and starts at the Paris March 5th.

This seems to be the holiday party idea this season…not at work but
amongst friends. I’ve gotten 4 different invites now for cookie exchanges.
This latest one says bring as many homemade cookies as you wish plus a dozen to sample. Don’t forget a container to carry your goodies home in. That’s where I messed
up last year. I brought my cookies to exchange in one of those Xmas tins, not knowing you were supposed to bring an empty tin for your cookies to take home and then place the cookies to exchange on a platter of some sort. I was a newbie last year, but I know the”lay of the land” now. I’m not sure why people invite me to these things because I am always the only one who brings “bought” cookies. Everyone else makes theirs.
The one time I made holiday cookies I made such a mess of the kitchen. I was cleaning flour and sugar off the floor for days….and also out of the cracks of my kitchen table.
Such a busy time right now. Every week, it seems there are 2 or 3 gatherings to go to.
My Morgan Hill gang this year, instead of gathering at someone’s house, will be going the restaurant route. We didn’t exchange gifts last year, but this year we’re each supposed to bring a candle of $25 in cost… SO far, I haven’t found any candles at that price. My favorites are the ones at Bath and Body Works…and they’re 2 for 20. Have you ever bought one of these? They burn very quickly because they’re 3 wicks…but they’re the only ones I’ve found that really have a scent to them. The one I’m burning now was bought elsewhere and doesn’t have any kind of scent although its supposed to be Christmas tree….so my artificial tree smells real. Not working this year….
If you haven’t seen this yet…here’s the cost rundown of “The Twelve Days of
Christmas”
--Twelve Drummers Drumming: $206.26 each . . . or $2,475.20 overall
--Eleven Pipers Piping: $207.70 each . . . or $2,284.80 overall
--Ten Lords-a-Leaping: $441.36 each . . . or $4,413.61 overall
--Nine Ladies Dancing: $608.11 each . . . or $5,473.07 overall
--Eight Maids-a-Milking: $7.25 each . . . or $58 overall
--Seven Swans-a-Swimming: $750 each . . . or $5,250 overall
--Six Geese-a-Laying: $25 each . . . or $150 overall
--Five Golden Rings: $99.99 each . . . or $499.95 overall
--Four Calling Birds: $149.99 each . . . or $599.96 overall
--Three French Hens: $15 each . . . or $45 overall
--Two Turtle Doves: $27.99 each . . . or $55.98 overall
--And a Partridge in a Pear Tree: $159.99
Works out to $87,403.
Those poor Maids…Wish they’d finally make minimum wage!!!!!!
And as I said this morning…..you may want to convert to the 8 Days of Hanukkah!!!!
You know who’s out with a CD today?…Allison Iraheta….yep last year’s 4th place finisher for American Idol..the 16 year old with the bright red hair. Wonder if she’ll sell more than Idol winner Kris Allen did last week?
Sam and Lissa's Bloh 11/30
Let the holidays begin……My little townhouse is already over-ridden with Santa’s, Nutcrackers, and holiday candles….LOVE IT!!!!! And my Martha Stewart 6 foot tree with the little lights on it is a favorite of my cats Tobey Tobes and Chloey. They both have their favorite ornaments that somehow end up on the floor by the time I get home from work everyday. And it won’t be long before the tree skirt is covered in cat hair…It’s their favorite sleeping spot.
Sam, on the other hand, is having his townhome painted today...Yep…..the inside. All of the furniture has been moved into the center of the rooms. I’m guessing the deocorations will have to wait!!!!!
Loved the call from Allison today. Her big bargain over the weekend was 90 percent off a big overnight bag that she bought at the Outlets. Her price $4. Sounds like it will never get to her sister though. She’s already been using it. Ha Ha . Sam and I both got great prices but not what I call a “steal of a deal”. I’ve already made some returns. Actually Victoria has and one of the stores –which shall go nameless—already “hates us”. They took our name down…I think it’s hidden under the check out counter. LOL!!!!
My favorite Black Friday story is the one from Michigan. A couple got married in line Friday at Best Buy while waiting for the store to open. They were divorced before they reached the checkout stand…JUST KIDDING!!!! Actually the line was so long, they had their first child there.
After we did our Black Friday show at Valley Fair, we drove down to see Christina at Cal Poly…Always an adventure when Christina, Tori and I are together for any length of time. Saturday night we got locked out of Christina’s home and with all of her roommates gone had to call a Locksmith. Didn’t plan on spending that $120. But at least we got in. We must have looked sad but honest. He didn’t even ask for any I-D.
But we were happy to get in … let the dogs out and see the movie Blind Side.
Both Sam and I saw it this weekend and absolutely loved it. It is such a wonderful feel good story.
I’m thinking it might be over before it even began for American Idol’s Kris Allen.
Who? (ha ha) His self titled CD last week debuted at number 11..He sold just 80 thousand copies which was the worst first week of any American Idol Winner.
The previous low was 2 years ago when Jordan Sparks sold 119 thousand copies.
The third worst A-I winner debut belongs to Fantasia Barrino…who sold 240 thousand copies.
Adam Lambert’s “over the top” performance on the AMA’s didn’t hurt his sales. He sold
225 thousand CD’s…a far cry though from the top seller…Susan Boyle. Her album “I Dreamed a Dream” may have sold over half a million copies. WOW!!!!
Hope with all of your web surfing, you’ve taken a minute to make the KBAY Connection. The next three Fridays we will be giving away 3 $1,000 Westfield Shopping Center gift cards. You’ve got to sign up online…That’s a lot of shopping money!!!!!!

So pizza for dinner tonight…..and turkey tomorrow. Same thing for you?
Tonight is the busiest night of the year for pizza delivery and take out and even though I’m not cooking Thanksgiving, I’m sticking to that plan. Ha ha..
Yep, its become a tradition in recent years that I pick up my Dad and we go to Black Angus for dinner. Don’t laugh..I actually have a coupon. $14.95. Not bad!!!
Happy to say the last two years Tori has been home from China..so she comes too. Poor Christina works retail in San Luis Obispo so she stays down there and sadly has a frozen dinner. But at least it’s a frozen turkey dinner. What has also become a tradition is that Tori and I walk in the Thanksgiving morning Turkey Trot in downtown San Jose that benefits local charities. Then we come home and put up the fake Martha Stewart Christmas tree.
Sam also has a tradition for Thanksgiving. He and his wife-Carol go to his ex wife’s home for dinner. I know…how many people have such a good relationship with an ex wife that they spend Thanksgiving with them. His two sons will be there today, and if I’m counting right….6 grandchildren. He’s got that new little grandson this year. That’s always special…the First Thanksgiving. You know they make bibs for that!!!!!
We’ll be working in the morning too…and of course Friday….Black Friday is our big show from 10-2 at Valley Fair. People always say…..you’re kidding me…you have to work on Friday? But we truly love it. It is so much fun…Stop on by, you’ll see what I’m talking about. There is so much hustle and bustle…everyone seems to be in good cheer. We have KBAY Holiday CD’s to give away….and I still can’t get over this…we will have 3 people winning $1000 Westfield gift cards. I’ve never gotten a gift card over $100..but this is ten times that!!!
There are 2 different ways to win. Go online to KBAY.Com....and make the KBAY Connection. Your name could be picked from there and there will also be an enter to win box at our booth, and a winner will come from that.
3 $1000 Westfield gift cards. I still can’t believe it!!!!!
And more are coming ….Wow….I mean Ho Ho Ho
Oh and did I say…one Month to Christmas..!!!!!
But first things first. Sam and I wish you the best of Thanksgivings…and whether this has been a good year for you…..or a year that could have been better…pause tomorrow to be with your family and friends…and count your blessings….As I have learned....Every today is a gift!!!!

Let the good times begin…... A lot of college kids are coming home today
for Thanksgiving ….I can remember those days…..I was always beside myself with excitement.. Also happens to be the weekend a lot of freshman
break up with their high school sweethearts. It’s the first time a lot of them have seen each other since they left for college. It’s so common it’s even got a name…”Turkey Drop” Cute huh..unless it’s your kid being dropped!!!
Victoria and I, after our Black Friday show from 10-2 at Valley Fair, will drive down to Cal Poly. Christina works retail down there so she doesn’t get to come home. But that’s okay with me…we love shopping down there. Just sad that she doesn’t get to be with us on Thanksgiving Day. Didn’t have any of these issues when she was little…LOL!!!
If you missed our list this morning on what’s banned from your airplane carry-on during the holidays..here it is:
Creamy Dips and Spreads
Gift baskets that contain stuff like dressing and salsa
Jams and Jellies
Gravy
Cranberry Sauce
Mashed Potatoes
Snowglobes….. (don’t serve any of those during Thanksgiving)
It’s the TSA “holiday edition” of banned liquids list. That’s why its better for your college kids to be driving …..that way they can take home all of your “leftovers”.
Did you watch the Jon and Kate plus 8 finale last nite…Yep..that’s it…It’s done.
TLC had to end everything abruptly because of all the litigation and by the end of the year the divorce will be final. Neither Sam nor I saw it…(he was tempted to watch) but I hear Kate was crying…that it will be hard on the kids to give up being on TV.
We’re thinking the children are probably praying that the judge will award custody of them to the camera crew…LOL.
I guess ABC was really upset with Adam Lambert’s finale on the American Music Awards. They got 1500 complaint calls which really isn’t that many, but they did edit out some of his “moves” for the West Coast airing.
Big day tomorrow….7pm….KBAY goes all holiday music 24/7 through Christmas Day.
Absolutely love it….Puts you in such a festive mood…
Sam and Lissa's Blog 11/23
If Sam and I are any kind of example..this is going to be a tough week to stay focused. The holiday spirit has begun. He and his wife Carol had a holiday party for her family on Saturday. So he was both tired and festive this morning. And of course, it’s a short work week because of Thanksgiving .We don’t really have a short work week because we do our show from Valley Fair on Black Friday, but that’s just plain fun….really no work at all.
Everything just seems to be getting festive. We’ve got the holiday music starting at 7 Wednesday night, Thanksgiving Eve. Sam and I got our first Christmas card from a listener today…(I know early) and there just seems to be a lot of “hustle and bustle”
Maybe it’s the great weekend I had in Disneyland. There is nothing like the holidays at Disneyland…It’s amazing the job they do decorating and how can you not be in the spirit when you’re with your kids and your close friends…not to mention all dressed in the same t-shirts. People just smile when they see you, and to top everything off, we got to be in Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee Saturday. The one husband in our group Bob…stayed back to hold our stuff and take pics…and I’m guessing he is still laughing at what he saw. If you’re going down there during the holidays, they pick people from the crowd for every Jubilee show. About a half hour or so before it starts, dancers come out of the New Orleans train station (right after the train goes by) and they look for people who might want to be Cast Members. We knew this ahead of time, so they didn’t have to look far. We six women were waiting right there. Anyway, it was one of the best times ever at Disneyland. No one knows customer service like they do. Because we were in the show and giving up at least 45 minutes just for that, they treated us like we were “princesses”…Lots of pictures and a free souvenier to go. But it wasn’t just there that we were treated great. The whole park experience is like that.
I just love Disneyland. If I have a “second life”, I’m coming back as their PR Director…
Because of a late flight home, I didn’t see all of the American Music Awards last night, but I will watch what I missed on my DVR…Yep….gotta see Adam Lambert. Don’t know who is giving him advice but I’d fire him or her. The guy has such a great voice and magnificent stage presence, but not for what he did last nite. Not sure what audience he is trying to reach…..but I guess it’s not me…or Sam!!!!
And has Lady Gaga gone to the Victoria Beckham School of Mannerisms…because she doesn’t smile at all either. Every time they showed her sitting in her seat, she looked angry or sad or maybe both. Can she not smile?. She’s is so weird….That performance of hers was crazy……
Give me Taylor Swift any day….

So Oprah is ending her afternoon talk show after season 2011…
Now where is Gayle King going to find work?….ha ha ha.
You know how I love Oprah…but I can’t believe people are really bothered by this. First off….its not for 2 more years and it’s an afternoon talk show …that’s all…
I’ll finally be able to watch Ellen without thinking I missed something LOL!!!
Oprah will never be away from the picture anyway…She truly is the most powerful and well known woman in America. Sorry Mrs. Obama…I meant no disrespect!!!!
Thanksgiving is coming early to Sam and his wife –Carol. ..They’re hosting an early Turkey meal this weekend…and from what I hear their house is as clean as a brand new place. Sam even refinished his kitchen cabinets…..and no he’s not for hire!!! That’s one great thing about the holidays. We do a lot of cleaning because people are coming over…so things look great..but then so many people have come over..things are dirty again in a very short time…Oh well….such is life..It just goes round and round and round..
I’m off to the Merriest Place on Earth…Yep. Disneyland......this has become a November tradition with
Friends from Morgan Hill……including my “bestest” friend Janette. Hard to believe I’ve actually found people as crazed about Disneyland as me…In fact…Bob and Susan know all the inner workings…how to time the lines..how to work the fast passes…and just how to have the best time…And we do..
We’ve got all of our meal reservations planned. And I’m so excited because now that Victoria has passed all of her CPA tests she doesn’t have to study anymore and she’s coming with me. And Christina is driving down from Cal Poly…I will be in heaven..and how can I not be..I have my 2 daughters with me…and we’re at the Merriest Place on Earth!!!
Oh..and by the way…hope you have a great weekend planned too!!!!
Next week will be so busy….Thanksgiving…and then BLACK FRIDAY…
You know where Sam and I will be ….at Valley Fair..from 10-2. Hopefully you’ll be stopping by…
And yes….we start our holiday music Thanksgiving Eve…..Life is good!!!! And Merry!!!!

Friday is when I get my People Magazine in the mail, so I don’t have the
complete list yet…but here’s what I have so far on the Sexiest Men of 09.
Johnny Depp is the Sexiest of them all. Did I miss his big movie of this year or something because I don’t remember him being shown a lot?
Honorable Mentions go to Robert Pattinson. (Maybe he’s too young to be the top spot)
Adam Lambert and Chris Daughtry. Poor Kris Allen just not getting any respect as this year’s American Idol. Jake Gyllenhall, Robert Downey Junior, John Cho, Bradley Cooper (my fav), Ryan Reynolds, Nick Cannon, David Beckham, Jerry O’Connell (huh)
John Legend and Gilles Marini (my second fav).
Did you see that story on Santa? …That there’s an actual union and they want Santa considered high risk for the swine flu..and be given vaccines. I love the quote of one Santa “I can’t deliver toys if I’m sick”. So true…. Some Santa’s, I guess, are wearing latex gloves under their suits and washing their costumes every day. And they’ve got their elves “screening” the line for kids who look sick and encouraging everyone to use hand sanitizer, which they happen to have!!! Ho Ho Ho!!!!!
Speaking of ho ho ho….The outdoor ice rink in
Downtown San Jose at the Circle of Palms next to the Fairmont opens Friday. Will be open till January 18th. Boy..it was cold enough this morning to make some ice in seconds. Admission by the way is $15 for anyone over age 13. 2 dollars cheaper for under 13. You get the skates too and they don’t limit your ice time so that’s cool…or should I say cold.
Christmas in the Park will open next Friday. Can’t believe it’s the 30th year.
Next Friday by the way, Sam and I will keep to our Black Friday holiday tradition and do our show from Valley Fair …from 10-2. It’s always great fun…and yes we will have our
Holiday CD’s to give out….and FOR FREE!!!!
Sam and Lissa's Blog 11/18
Funny what gets you going. Sam got ticked off yesterday because a hotel he stays at quite often lost his reservation. Actually it’s happened the last couple of times he’s stayed there. And this time he had to return to the station to get his confirmation number.
Now….that’s a reason to get “perturbed”. It works out fine for him…...but is a major inconvenience.
Now my “perturbed” is silly. I’m even surprised this got me going like it did. I got so angry last night that Joanna Krupa got voted off Dancing with the Stars. I know it’s a popularity contest and obviously Donny Osmond and Kelly Osborne have more of a fan base, but Joanna’s point total from the judges was so much higher than Donny’s. It wasn’t even close plus he’s not even in the same league as she is in terms of dancing. By the time we’re down to the finals…the best dancers should be left, and that would be Mya and Joanna. Now, if Mya doesn’t win..I will be done dancing..
Same complaints, I know, about American Idol.
Ok..enough……moving on…
Have a problem getting to work on time?.
We have one or two of those people here….
Sam gets here with just a few minutes to spare. He does most of his Prep at home before he leaves.
I on the other hand get here with hours to spare… LOL!!!!
I, for some reason, am early for everything.
But what about you…and if you are chronically late to work…
Are these the reasons why?
You underestimate your commute time…..
You can’t find your keys….
Your kids are disorganized…
You sleep in……
You try to get one last thing done…
You hate your work so much, you postpone showing up. If that’s the case…may be time to find a new job (if you can)
GQ Man of the Year….
Clint Eastwood. He was called Badass of the Year.
Loved his quote “Everybody’s so screwed up. It seems like our country’s in kind of a morbid mood, because of the recession or whatever. We’re becoming more juvenile as a nation. The guys who won WW2 and that whole generation have disappeared, and now we have a bunch of teenage twits.”
Leader of the Year: Barack Obama
Comeback of the Year: Tom Brady
Funny Men of the Year…stars of “The Hangover”…
Yeah to that!!!. Can’t wait to buy the movie DVD on December 15th!!!!

All is right with the world…A listener this morning said the Christmas Lights Display was up and on..atop Almaden Fashion Plaza.. That display is enormous. I remember one year they couldn’t turn it on. I think it was a PG and E thing. We were supposed to be cutting back our energy use. And even though I think it’s too early to be turning on your lights, this display makes me feel happy whenever I drive by. I so love the holidays. Even in sad times, I found comfort in this time of year, which I know is very odd, but hey..it’s me!!!!
This exercise “thing” sucks!!! SO I got the personal trainer on Sunday.,He had me doing things I haven’t ever done..LOL . And then on Monday, I went for the free lesson on using some of the equipment, and I got so frustrated at my inability to do the various things for even just a minute, that I nearly started crying. Please tell me when this is fun!!! And on top of that my butt hurts..and so do my legs. But I’m not a quitter…I’ll keep going. Bet it doesn’t really make a difference though…..
Like this though….What men see when they first look at a woman…
Her smile…Her hair and then her cleavage. (good, because you can’t see mine)
Asked Sam…and he said….Eyes and then CLEVAGE!!! What a guy…..
Can you believe Thanksgiving is ten days away? Where did this year go?
And I’m thinking Second Harvest Food Bank is saying the same thing.
A bunch of us from KBAY volunteered out there on Friday. In two hours, we put 11 thousand pounds of food into about 350 different boxes for families to pick up…things like cereal, Mac and cheese, canned corn, tomatoes, and peaches plus tuna….
But what Sam and I remember the most is them saying they had just 130 or so turkeys to give out Thanksgiving. So if you can, stop by the warehouse on Curtner Avenue near Almaden and drop some off..or write a check if you can. We know by the time Thanksgiving rolls around, they will have plenty of turkeys, but with all the families in need of food this year, whatever they have most likely won’t be enough.
Sam and Lissa's Blog 11/16
This may be old hat to you. It is to Sam, but it’s a new thing for me. I now have
A personal trainer. Well, at least for 3 visits. (LOL) Not sure if I’ll renew after that.
His name is James. He’s very nice, and treats you with great respect, but I feel like such an uncoordinated out of shape over the hill frump. I figured I’d be using the equipment with him cheering me on, but he’s mainly got me doing exercises that look so silly. And I’m in a room with other people who look great and obviously know what they’re doing. I even missed on his high-fives which I certainly didn’t deserve, but I think he was trying to build me up.
Plus, he measured my body fat, and apparently that’s all I am..is a body of fat. Not kidding. He gave me a 32. I think which is in the unhealthy area. I don’t look like that.
He did say it might be inaccurate, but it’s on my folder..so it’s the real deal to me!!!
My goal is to go 3 times a week…and I’ve sort of done that for 2 weeks now…so
Give me a high-five!!!! Ooops…missed again.
When I am at the gym, I must admit I just think of all those sweat germs
all over everything. I do use hand sanitizer and they have paper and cleaner all over the place, but come on…are you going to clean every single thing you touch?
The way some of those folks sweat…it’s flying all over….(ha ha)
This is good to know…..five weird ways to beat a cold…
Walk fast. (boosts your immunity)
Blow your nose..one nostril at a time. (How in the heck do you do that)
Use a sauna. (was so cold this morning, that would have felt great)
Have a Hot Fruit Drink (Can you say hot apple cider?)
Eat Bell Peppers—red ones. They have more Vitamin C than most fruits and vegetables..including oranges.
What a bummer….that the Elton John/Billy Joel (or vice- versa)
Concert has been postponed. I’ve never had that happen to me. I can only
Imagine how disappointing that would be. You buy your tickets so far in advance and make big plans. Sam was going….so now he’ll just stick to dinner down here. Still a date night for him…..and his wife—Carol. Just hold on to your tickets. They’ll resked.
Just hope this doesn’t happen with Taylor Swift in April. But she’s a “youngin” She won’t get sick. LOL….
Sam and Lissa's Blog 11/13
This is a perfect weekend story….You’ve been waiting months for that
Get away weekend. You’ve got the hotel room reserved…you just can’t wait. You check in…and your room hasn’t even been cleaned properly……or hasn’t even been cleaned at all. Haven’t we all had that happen at least once? My daughter Tori happens to be away on business right now…and is staying in one of those suite-type hotels. They don’t come in everyday to clean like they do in regular hotels. When she checked in, it was obvious they hadn’t changed the sheets from the last quest. Since it was late there was no crew on duty so she slept on the couch. The next morning she called down again, and this is something only an accountant would do, she used a red pen, put a dot on the sheets. Later in the day, they said they had changed the sheets. She looked. The red dot was still there. OOPS!!!!
But here they are …the five hidden hotel health hazards
Drinking glasses. They claim that housekeepers often just wipe them down.
Bed Bugs. They hide in the seams of mattresses so the hotel might not even know they have them.
Hotel doorknobs. Just think about, how many people touch the doorknobs in your room. I don’t think they’re ever wiped down.
Hotel Showerheads. A Colorado study found dirty showerheads have a shocking amount of bacteria on them.
Hot Tubs and Swimming Pools- Enough Said.
I like to think those 5 things are not routine. But I think you’ll agree with other hotel gripes that are quite common place:
A clock radio no one can figure out how to work.
Shampoo and Conditioner labels that are in such little print you don’t know what you’re using. One time I washed my hair with Lotion.
Electrical outlets that are hard to find and hard to reach. How often do you have to charge your phone in the bathroom?
And a closet that is so small, it’s just big enough for the ironing board and iron they’ve stuck in it.
Hope you’re staying home this weekend!!!!
Sam has his weekend marching orders…His wife –Carol- has them cleaning their place from top to bottom and side to side....in preparation for their early Thanksgiving get together next weekend. Carol’s going all out. They’ve even got the carpet cleaner coming this week.. LOL…
Maybe I’ll see you this weekend. Will be at the Safeway at Hamilton and Meridian from 11-1 Saturday… Hey....that’s the one I shop at!!! And Saturday night, it’s the annual Presentation High School Auction at the Doubletree.
Monday Morning will be fun. We have another pair of front row tickets to give away to the Elton John/Billy Joel Face to Face Tour at HP Pavilion Tuesday night. Be listening at 7:40. Maybe you' ll hear your name.

Had fun this morning talking about Drive-In Places….which are my absolute favorite.
Sounds terrible I know, but I have driven miles out of my way to find a drive-though just to avoid getting out of my car for a burger or soda. I used to always wish for a sandwich drive thru…and sure enough there’s a Subway Drive Thru on Auto Mall Parkway off of 680 in Fremont. But it took forever to get through that one. Takes a little longer I guess to put all the lettuce, pickles, pepperocini, onions, tomatoes, 3 slices of processed turkey and 2 slices of cheese on the roll.
We got a call from Hollister. They have a grocery store drive through…the Ranch Milk.
Says it only takes a minute or so to get a few things. And in Los Banos, there’s a drive-thru Baskin Robbins. The trick is deciding quickly which of the 31 flavors you want.
Sam loves drive-ins too….especially the McDonalds off of Mission in the Warm Springs area. Says by the time he drives from the order speaker to the window, they already have his cone waiting for him.
Now that they have drive-ins for dry cleaners, weddings, banks, coffee, groceries, ice cream….the next convenience I always dream of is to have the grocery store worker who helps you load your car come home with you, bring the stuff in and then leave.
Oh….wait a second. They do have that person…your kid!!!!!
Poor Kelsey Grammer….He can’t get a new TV show that is a hit.
I guess we only want to remember him as Frazier. That show he did last year with
Patricia Heaton bombed…..and now ABC has cancelled his new series Hank. They didn’t even let it run its course. Just 5 of the 10 shows aired.
This one I hadn’t even heard of….Dollhouse on Fox. It’s been cancelled as well..
You know this Judge……Joseph Wapner. The original of all the TV Judges.
He’s 90 tomorrow….and will actually do a special People’s Court in honor of his birthday. He’s getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today. He did almost 2500 episodes of Peoples Court between 1981 and 1993…Remember he had Rusty Burrell as his Bailiff and Doug Llewelyn as the “reporter” If you ask me Judge Wapner is still the best. I think Judge Marilyn is in his TV courtroom now…and probably making a lot more money than Wapner ever did.
How can this be…yet another Friday the 13th tomorrow. Will be a lucky day for some one though. Jona after ten tomorrow will announce another KBAY Connection member taking his or her family to Disneyland for the holidays……on us!!!!
Could be you….check it out at KBAY.COM

Noticed that Marie Callender died on this day back in 95…the real Marie Callender…
She was 88….and who knows…perhaps she was still eating her pot pies….and her apple pie. Sam loves the place…not for the entrees..but for the pie. They don’t make my favorite anymore…...the Boston Cream Pie. Just as well, I guess….because I used to buy a lot of pies. I had the pie tins to prove it. I would always forget to bring them back for my next pie so when I was moving I must have found 50 pie tins in the back of a cupboard.
Wonder what they would have done if I brought them all in for a refund. LOL.
Neither Sam nor I could think of a better pie place…but I guess we were wrong. Calls started coming on about Gizdich Ranch in Watsonville…..which specializes in fruit pies…Olallieberry and Dutch Apple. Cheryl said the Pumpkin is fantastic too.
You may want to share this with your co-workers…or maybe not.!!!!
The six types of annoying people in your office….They’ve even been given names
The Gossip—everyone loves a little gossip…..but this is the worker who uses it to undermine the spirit of your workplace…
The Broken Clock—the person who is always late to meetings or work..and then wastes the whole day facebooking or instant messaging.
The Mold Guy—who leaves food in the refrig…and never eats it or throws it out.
The Stinker—wears too much cologne or perfume..or not enough
The Cracker….The wise–guy who is always cracking jokes, knuckles..gum….or clanking spoons in the coffee cup.
The Tapper….spends every meeting tapping away at his I-Phone.
Liked this news this morning…saw it in the Mercury….that they’re finally getting ready(mid-Dec) to mail out the parcel tax refunds to property owners who filled out the paperwork a few months ago. This was for the Open Space Authority tax settlement. I was just wondering about it the other day….Figured I wasn’t getting a refund for some reason…It’s not a lot of money….up to $130..but hey…it’s found money…who doesn’t like that? Apparently a lot of people because the paper said only 25 percent filled out the necessary paperwork….$30 million or so will go back into the purchase of open space..which is good too!!!
Some KBAY biz now….our newsletter came out this morning. Hope you got it in your e mail….If we don’t have your e mail..go to KBAY.Com . There’s always great stuff in the newsletter, and we still have Disneyland Holiday Getaways to give away. All Sharlene Valencia did to win hers last week was make the KBAY Connection…also at KBAY.Com. She’s taking her family…We’re covering the plane…the park hopper passes..and 2 nights hotel.

Hard to go a day now without hearing someone you know has the swine flu or what they think is the swine flu. As of October 21st, Health officials here had reported ten deaths and 330 hospitalizations…..I have no plans to get a swine flu shot. I don’t think I could anyway as I’m not considered high risk. Neither is Sam, although he may get a regular flu shot. Those vaccines seem to be available. But they said again this morning…the best thing you can do for yourself is have clean hands. And while washing your hands whenever you can is great, it’s hand sanitizers they seem to be pushing...
Just make sure you read the label and it’s at least 60 percent alcohol. “kills 99.9 percent of bacteria” isn’t good enough..
Rub it on for at least 20 seconds…and get it between your fingers, your nails and on your wrists. The backs of your hands get dirty too.
Don’t rinse your hands or towel off right away. Let it air dry.
And if your hands are noticeably dirty, wash them with hot water and soap as well…and for at least 20-30 seconds. Then once your hands look clean, add a little hand sanitizer to make sure they really are.
Remember when they first came out with this stuff?….we used to laugh at people who were always using it…or at least I did. But now, we all want to have a hand sanitizer with us at all times.
I’m thinking Santa might be worried about the swine flu this year…Wonder if any will show up in the malls with face masks on…LOL. In fact, has Santa arrived at the mall yet? Read this morning that a good Mall Santa can earn ten thousand dollars over the holidays…but he’s working 40 or so 10 hour days…and speaks to about 30 thousand kids.
Starting to buy a few gifts here and there….The hardest thing is finding a safe place to hide the gifts….and as you know sometimes the place is too safe….You can’t even find it come Christmas Day. How many gifts have you misplaced over the years…only to find them a few weeks or even months later. Hopefully, they’ll still be good for the next Christmas? And does that count as a re-gift? Don’t think so since you never gave it to anyone to begin with. Survey this morning that over one in three plan on regifting this year.. a little more than last year. I always wonder how you remember who you got the gift from so you don’t give it back to them. I’ve done it with wine before. I realized it but I’m never sure if the person I give it to remembers as well. I guess you need to keep a list someplace. Problems…problems…problems….

Bet you never thought of this…. And maybe you’ll be sorry I brought it up…LOL..
But I read in Women’s Health Magazine over the weekend that your toothbrush is
Not so hygienic…that there are over 3 million bacteria per square inch inside the average toilet bowl….and when you flush…..those germs get ejected into the air and land on everything in the bathroom..including your toothbrush!!!! Oh Yuck…
SO what do you do?….2 things…close the toilet lid before flushing (anyone do that?)
And store your toothbrush in a drawer ( anyone do that?) Hey..Sam and I don’t even
Throw out our toothbrushes that often. We have a tradition at home..that whenever we go on a vacation of more than a weekend, we get new toothbrushes. Lets see..that happens maybe once or twice a year….so that’s the only time we get new toothbrushes.
And yes..the hygienist always gives me one when I go every six months …but it usually stays in my purse until I clean it out.
Got little ones at home?….I have found such a cute book. Actually my friend Berni
sent it to me…Her sister…A.C. Matz wrote it…. Edgar the Emu. It’s one of those
thin paperbacks that you can read to your child or grandchild in a few minutes..and the colorful illustrations are just great. The story is simple…and the message is great…Edgar cracks out of his shell, his family is so excited…..he looks perfect…..but he keeps bumping into things..and why?…he cant see that well…a little animal friend finally figures it out . He needs glasses….It’s as simple as that. A great learning story…that’s it’s okay to be different and how wonderful it is to have friends you can count on. Perfect little book if you’ve got a little one who needs or wears glasses…
I’m actually not sure where it can be bought. I know it’s Paragon Publishing.
It really is cute though.
Did you watch Taylor Swift on SNL? Wasn’t she great? I was surprised
How good she was, although I wish they didn’t all make it so apparent they’re reading a teleprompter. Highest ratings for SNL this season…
And Rihanna’s interview on 20/20 was almost too much to bear….but a story that needed to be heard. She gave the show it’s highest ratings in 3 seasons.

Noticed tomorrow is Magazine Day. Do you still get a lot of magazines..?
I’ve cut back but I still get quite a few…Newsweek, Oprah, Good Housekeeping, Ladies Home Journal, Woman’s Day (yeah..I never thought I’d be old enough to buy that one-LOL) Health, Self..and or course the biggie..PEOPLE. And that’s always the expensive one..It’s over $100 a year. When Tori and Christina went to Presentation..I’d buy so many more. I even sold to Sam. In fact, last year Sam said to me, ”I don’t know why I’m getting this golf magazine” I said “I do, you bought it during the Pres Magazine Sale”……I guess that’s why both girls always won the school trip to Hawaii…he he.. But I think I have renewals through the year 2014…or something like that. And I still buy Magazines from the school. I guess that’s why they wanted me on their Board of Trustees….LOL
Fun this morning talking about toys..
Sam loved Silly Putty…the Frisbee and I was so into my Easy Bake Oven.
Maybe that’s why I don’t like to cook. I found out the real oven isn’t so easy.
A listener called in about Knockers….the two wooden balls with a rope attached…Sam said he wasn’t interested in Knockers until Junior High..Ha Ha… Mike called in with the Green Machine which was a Big Wheel that did real wheelies.
Thanks to all the magazines I get I can tell you Good Housekeeping has a list of
The very best toys….of all time.
See how many you had.
Teddy Bear
Scooter
Mickey Mouse Doll
Legos
Dollhouse
Walkie Talkies….which Sam and I agreed never worked…
Toy Telephone…remember the eyes would roll
Play Doh
Barbie
Etch a Sketch
Cabbage Patch Kids
Nintendo
Furby
Sega Dreamcast and one from 06..Ultimate Planetarium.
I think we got the most mileage out of the Fischer Price Kitchen…Tori would play with that for hours..There were pot and pans….and food items for pretend cooking… Still makes me smile
And Christina for years had fun in the backyard with the Little Tykes Playhouse.
She and her best friend Lizzie would play house for hours in that thing.
There are two great brands for you…Fisher Price and Little Tykes…you just can’t go wrong with them.
And don’t forget the simple stuff….marbles…jacks…checks…crayons (have to be Crayola) blocks and or course the Cardboard Box.
Happy Weekend…!!...Will be a real fall weekend…no warmer than upper 60s..
Sam and I Saturday afternoon will be at Guglielmo Winery in Morgan Hill on Main Ave. for their Annual Bottle Your Own Wine Day.. They’ve even made special Sam and Lissa Wine Labels for us to sign…If you’ve never been, it is a great family winery…great cellar and grounds..not to mention some great tasting wine.

Here’s the headline. Mom’s don’t need vacations…...just breaks from daily stress.
According to a poll, a majority of Moms wanting a vacation don’t mean an actual get away…but time at home without responsibility. Over 80 percent say they never get to escape from their day to day “stuff”. The biggest pain….housework. 66 percent admit keeping their home clean and tidy is their primary source of stress….and most of them don’t like cooking dinner every night…( I don’t like cooking dinner any night)
So what to do…..other than go to McDonalds for dinner and have everyone else clean the house…shut off the darn phone. 52 percent say no ringing phones would help them have a relaxing evening at home. 40 percent would like a bubble bath…and a third would like to sit in front of a fireplace.
You know that’s the one thing I really miss living in my townhome..I have no fireplace.
I loved my fireplace. ..so I’ve been forced to settle for a candle burning on my table in front of the TV… I know....not the same thing….but what are you going to do.
Speaking of TV..ha ha..
The Real Housewives of Orange County starts tonite on Bravo. Can’t wait. These Housewives series are so short....usually just 5 weeks or so followed by a 2 episode reunion. I think tonite, there is first a reunion…..and then the actual show. They’ll probably have to deal with a few “things” that happened over the summer. One got evicted from her home and was accused of stealing stuff from the house and the ex husband of another got a DUI…OH My!!!!
My favorite Housewives are the New York women….followed by New Jersey and then Orange County. I don’t like the women at all in Atlanta, so that one I skip. I think they’re also starting one in Washington D.C.
Now that the World Series is over…we can all finally watch the stuff on the DVR. Sam and I both have Mad Men to catch up on..plus I have Melrose Place…and the Good Wife. I was able to catch Gossip Girl from this week.
Hope you’ve made the KBAY Connection to try and win the holiday trip down to Disneyland. The first winner to be announced after ten tomorrow morning.

Have you run into anyone yet with the Swine Flu? Or what they’re calling the Swine Flu. I’m up to 4 people now. So this tip is to late for them…..but maybe not you.
Hand sanitizer works better than soap. While you should still wash your hands to get the grime off or after using the bathroom….they say hand sanitizer is the cleanser of choice when trying to keep your hands germ free for hours.
And have you noticed all the different hand sanitizers on the market now/ At first all they had was Purell..but now……
I buy purse size ones at Bath and Body Works. I think they’re a dollar or a dollar 50 and they come in a dozen different scents....my favorite Pomegranate…Gee..what will they think of next? Today being the 25th anniversary of the Billionth burger sold at Mc Donalds….I’m thinking we need one with a Big Mac scent!!!!
Oprah was fun yesterday….famous people and their first jobs..and not only that..they went back to do their first jobs…she anchored a TV newscast in Dallas. Kirstie Alley was on…and she cleaned the very same home she did as a teenager…also went back to the
Store where she worked as an interior designer. Suze Orman waitressed again…
We had a few listeners call this morning about their first jobs. Kamela started at 18 working the Safeway Deli…and is actually still in the same store 13 years later….
Gail called about her job at Frontier Village….Any Frontier Village story makes me smile….that was my hang-out growing up . Jolene worked at Hollywood Video. Made her love movies and now she has her own video collection.
Sam did fruit picking in the orchards….Yes…we used to have them here in San Jose. My brothers not only picked fruit but then went on to work in the canneries…when he had those. I worked retail. at what was called Lerners. I think its New York and Company now. I worked behind the check-out stand and since I was short (even then) I was the one who kneeled down to make sure the clothes people returned hadn’t been worn...
And did this ever get the calls…Mentioned that Steve Guttenberg, Tom Selleck and Ted Danson were reportedly reuniting for another sequel to Three Men and a Baby. This one would be called Three Men and a Little Lady…so we asked what Movie Sequel would you want to see. Number one hands down…..Pretty Woman…
There was also Phantom of the Opera, Dirty Harry (the final Dirty Harry) When Harry meets Sally…(do we really want to see Billy Crystal the way he looks now?) Kite Runner…and of course The Hangover!!!!!
Got any more?

I sort of always suspected this…..but here are the cold hard numbers……
That women are mean to women…Where’s our sisterhood, I ask?
November issue of Women’s Health Magazine shows women
go after women.…LOL!!!
8 of ten women admit they’re competitive with other women.
6 in ten say that when on the treadmill, they always have to run faster and longer than the woman on the next treadmill. Definitely not me !!!
3 in ten insist on always having the last word in an argument.
1 in 4 will spend an entire day cooking just so they have the best dish at a dinner party. Definitely not me!!!!
4 in ten will intentionally flirt with guy their friend has a crush on just to make her jealous. Definitely not me!!!
3 of ten immediately go on a diet if a girlfriend lost weight
And 1 in ten will only date a man if he’s less attractive than they are…
Just thought I’d throw that one out there…
P.S…From what I see…..there are lots of unattractive men out there, so I guess a lot of them get dates… he.. he..
Don’t know about you…..and I can’t ask Sam as he doesn’t watch
every week, but I’m losing interest in Dancing with the Stars. Just too many dancers, and I’m ready to narrow it down to two….Derek’s partner Joanna and either Mya or Donny…Just too long….and I’m tired of Kelly’s whining….Enough already!!!!
Was happy to see that the show cancelled by NBC…Southland…the crime show on Friday night with the kid from the O.C has been picked up by TNT…Won’t start until January though.
Today was Sandwich Day in honor of the Earl of Sandwich…..some guy who supposedly invented the first sandwich way back when.
You guys had some great sandwich places this morning.
Tri-Tips from Nob Hill or Dunville Café near Hollister.
Pastrami at Antipasto’s in East San Jose.
Erik’s Deli….the Pilgrims Progress
Specialities…which also has great cookies I might add.
La Villa in Willow Glen….which also has the best ravioli
Village Cheese Shop in Palo Alto
De La Cruz Deli in Santa Clara…
And if you ever drive to San Luis Obispo…a must stop is Firestone.. They’ve got the best of everything…..especially Tri-Tip. And once you have had one sandwich there, you’ll want to go back. Never miss it when I go down to Cal Poly. YUMMMMMMM!!!!!

Hard getting back into the swing of things today. You’d think by getting the extra hour of sleep, you’d be less tired, but any change at all…good or bad…..just wipes you out. ..And now…..it gets dark so early, that your day seems over so much earlier.
Speaking of over…...Sam and I ran across these this morning…
Top Signs the Recession is Over:
Now your company is just firing people for the fun of it.
David Hasselhoff’s now eating filet mignon off the carpet.
Your lender can afford a new “foreclosed” sign for your home.
The First Lady can finally afford sleeves.
And probably the best one…Your financial advisor no longer bursts into laughter when you ask him how your portfolio’s looking.
Hope you laughed!!!
Nothing funny about these…five things not to do at a job interview:
Don’t tweet.
Don’t wear perfume or cologne….(but don’t stink B.O either)
Don’t get too buddy-buddy
Don’t trash talk your ex boss
Don’t dominate the interview.
Was surprised we didn’t have much candy in the office this morning…I actually had Tori bring all of ours to her work. We didn’t give away one piece, although we went to a party and left the house at 6:30, but it was already dark. You’d think some little kids would be out. Sam left out a big bowl of candy on his porch as he wasn’t home either, and he said it didn’t look like anyone came. What’s that about?
When it comes to radio station give-a-ways, we’ve got the premiere of them all right now….family holiday trips to Disneyland…the air fare, the park hopper passes, the hotel stay….and for families of 4. The first one will be given out this Friday morning.
Why not try…go back to the home page...make the KBAY Connection.

So much to do this weekend…but hey..it’s all fun.
Hopefully you’re thinking the same thing. I’m not one
To dress up for Halloween…but I love to see everyone else in costume.
And I love trick or treaters..until they get to be about 14…maybe even
12..they're just not as fun when they come to your door in whatever they were wearing that day and with a pillowcase.
Sam is going trick or treating with his grandkids. And he’s been talking about it all week.
We used to have a tradition like that. When Victoria and Christina were young, my parents would always come over for dinner….I’d bring in pizza…and then Mike, my Dad and the girls would go out trick or treating…and I’d be at home with my Mom
answering the door. Every year …same thing, and I think other than Christmas it must have been my favorite time of year. Now…the girls are grown…24 and 19..My Mom is gone and so is Mike. Wow…life changes doesn’t it?... and many times in ways you’d never expect.
I just hope I get some trick or treaters. Living in a townhouse development, there aren’t many kids to begin with, let kids old enough to go trick or treating. It’s a new development so a lot of the homeowners are fairly young and are just having kids.
SO they’re just babies right now..
If your kids are going out…..these 5 tips are really good for coming home with candy and not the swine flu.
Buy costumes that come wrapped in plastic. Maybe too late for that, so make sure you fully sanitize the mask.
Bring hand sanitizer trick or treating and use it between homes.
Make sure your kids wash their hands before eating any candy.
If you’re passing out candy, make sure you give it out instead of letting every kid put their hand into the bowl.
If you’re not feeling well tomorrow or the kids aren’t, don’t go trick or treating and don’t pass out candy. Hey…more for you to eat… LOL
Finally, leave it to Sam.. Top signs you’re at a Bad Halloween party.
It’s on November 1st.
The guy dressed as Jon Gosselin, REALLY is Jon Gosselin.
There are 9 Octomoms and 13 Balloon Boys.
The guy dressed as Brett Favre keeps leaving and then coming back.
Instead of reading scary stories, everyone just reads their 401K statements.
The spiders on the cupcakes aren’t plastic..
Funny, Funny Funny. Have a great Halloween weekend.
And don’t forget to move your back an hour, so you don’t
mess up your Monday.
Sam and Lissa's Blog 10/29
Cutest costume I’ve seen this Halloween ( I know it’s early)
But it was on Good Morning America. A little girl had on a black
Judges robe…and a long wig made of toilet paper rolls…so she looked like a
Supreme Court Justice . It was so cute… One of our listeners called in this morning. Nicole. She one year went as the “Toast of the Town”. She dressed in black and sewed little cloth pieces of brown toast on her…and carried a champagne glass. And we got another call about a woman who dressed as a “road”. She also wore black…..and covered herself with pieces of gum…yellow tape over her “boobies” for speed bumps…and other odds and ends you’d find on the highway. I told her to put some socks on her clothes.. Funny stuff!!!
The Mercury this morning had five costumes for couples…and how to make them.
Kanye West and Taylor Swift
Edward and Bella from Twilight
Night and Day
E-Mail with Attachments
Mustard and Ketchup
Can’t wait till tomorrow morning when people call in about what they’re wearing or what they see the driver in the car next to them wearing. When Halloween falls on a Saturday, the day before is also so much fun. When I was reading books at El Toro School in Morgan Hill the other day, I asked the first graders what they were going to be…
The boys were into Ninjas, and the girls princesses. See…some things never change…..no matter what the year is.
I need to go buy some more candy. I lost all my will power the last few days. But I’m not going to buy any more until Saturday. Sam doesn’t need to buy any. He goes to San Francisco for the evening to trick or treat with his Grandchildren. They always find a cool neighborhood too..Last year, it was a Harry Potter street. This year I guess it might be a street from Twilight.
Most popular treats, according to one study, Snickers, Tootsie Rolls, Mand M’s, Reese’s,Twizzlers, Butterfingers, Skittles and Candy Corn. See… like costumes some things never change. One caller this morning said Butterfingers were always her favorites and when she was young, she told her sisters they weren’t old enough to eat them…so she took them all. And why weren’t they old enough…she said the middle was made out of wood.
Final thought for today’s blog….got it out of Redbook…
18 million women lose a little pee when they sneeze, laugh or run…
Have to admit it’s happening a lot more these days…so either I’m laughing, sneezing or running more or just getting older!!! Might be all 4….and off I go!!!!
Sam and Lissa's Blog 10/28
They’re creepy and they’re crawly…and they're downright scary!!!!
19 million of us….9 percent of the population..have a phobia….
So what are we most scared of ?
10. Dentists
9. Dogs
8. Fearful flights
7.Thunder
6.The dark
5. Heights
4.Other people
3. Scary spaces (like elevators or bridges (Bay)
2.Spiders
1. Snakes
Okay….where are earthquakes on this list?….and Amy Winehouse LOL!!!
This is perfect for “helicopter parents”. Lets you start hovering early.
It’s a new GPS tracking unit called the Little Buddy Child Tracker.
It’s meant for overbearing parents who have to keep tabs on their kids 24/7
You put the device into your kids backpack or lunchbox, and then monitor his or her
whereabouts from a computer or cell phone. The Little Buddy can even be programmed to set up specific times and locations where the kid should be, like school or home. And if the kid leaves, it sends you a text message.
I think Best Buy sells it for $100…but that doesn’t include the monthly service fees..and I don’t think they’ve figured those out yet.
So I’m beginning to think I’m the only one interested in the World Series.
Other than my Philadelphia friends…Anna and Jim….But I know that can’t be the case….It’s always fun to see who is going to sing the National Anthem (Alicia Keys tonite) and what famous people are sitting in the stands. I’m just hoping my Yankees can pull it off…These two teams seem very evenly matched…except for salaries. I saw the Yankees average salary is 14 million...the Phillies just under 6 million.
Boy..does everyone want Taylor Swift concert tickets….Phones light up like a Christmas tree….We’ll do it again tomorrow at 7:40

Was talking about the new Nordstrom Rack yesterday at
Oakridge. It is great. I’m also a fan of the real Nordstrom as well….and
Sam and I always joke about shopping at KOHLS…Love it!!!
But the department store that has gotten more of my money over the years than anyplace else is of course Macys. So no way would I miss this date…1858
Roland H Macy opened Macy’s Department Store in New York City…. 8th business venture he tried after failing the other 7 times…..and BINGO….he sold 11-hundred dollars worth of merchandise on his first day. Think about it…..1858…1100 dollars worth of sales…That is good!!! Macys went on to have the highest sales volume of any department store in the world, and if you think the one in Union Square is big… 8 floors I think, you should see the one in New York… But as I said earlier this morning….2 things I live by at Macys…..and sometimes I think I do live there…I buy almost everything on sale because if it’s not on sale now, it will be the next week and I make great use of all my coupons…..and there are always plenty of those.
Amazing what kind of money is spent these days on TV ads…
And just for 30 seconds. Most expensive is $340 thousand for Sunday Night Football…but for TV dramas…...its Grey’s Anatomy for $240K. I actually think Greys is just so so this season. Private Practice is much better. Top comedy for ad money….Two and a Half Men…at $226K. But the most expensive show of them all for TV ads…American Idol…which gets between $360 and $490 thousand per 30 second spot. Can you believe that? Well…..they do have to pay Simon Cowell’s 45 million dollar salary.
Top 10 Cartoon characters:
Bugs Bunny
Homer Simpson
Mickey Mouse
Bart Simpson
Charlie Brown
Fred Flinstone
Grinch
Popeye
Wile E. Coyote
Rocky and Bullwinkle
Don’t forget It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown at 8 on ABC followed by Dancing with the Stars….and Taylor Swift. So excited that we have her concert tickets to give away this week…The Fearless Tour starring Taylor and her buddy Kelly Pickler. What a great show on April 11th at HP Pavilion….tickets don’t go on sale till this Friday morning but we’ll have a pair tomorrow at 7:40. A dad won them this morning for his 21 year old daughter. Maybe you’ll be next.

Funny how things get started. One of our
regular callers…9 year old Hannah of Morgan Hill
phoned this morning to say her Mom made her a banana costume…
So we asked her to send it to us…..and I put it on Facebook..Then we added the
“not recommended” costume for Miley Cyrus little sister..and then we got a pic of my friends son Tyler..who is dressing as Taylor Swift….Tyler..Taylor..get it?
So keep em comig…Send me a costume picture…..We’ll post it on Facebook.
Not sure I like this costume idea… A Pink slip!!!! CareerBuilder.com suggesting you wear a pink slip over your work clothes and chase your co workers…
Not so funny!!!!!!
Not sure about this either..It just doesn’t make sense. Shape Magazine says if you want to lose weight, pull up a chair. If you stand up or walk around while you eat, you won’t be aware of what you’re putting in your mouth. A study that people who were seated during a meal ate about 200 fewer calories than those who ate on their feet. I would think it was the other way around…..that you eat less if you’re standing or moving. But maybe I’m the only one who can’t eat, walk and talk all at the same time. I can chew gum though…LOL!!!
Hey…..Tori and I went to the new Nordstrom Rack yesterday at Oakridge. Wow…
The designer jeans…William Rast…Rich and Skinny….True Religion…half off…
And a huge selection….Lots of stuff . I was amazed. Christina is into Betsey Johnson purses …and you should see their selection….Store is really put together well…and they’ve got a ton of workers so it’s kept neat. And did I mention the
Shoes!!!!!!! The dressing rooms are even nice…
Are you looking forward to the World Series…or it is just me?
Do you watch The Good Wife? It’s the only new drama in the top 10 every week and I saw in People Magazine this weekend, they gave it 4 stars….I agree…it is that good!!!
Sam told me this morning there are just two episodes left of Mad Men..so that’s disappointing….but am so relieved to hear Eric Braden who plays Victor on Young and the Restless and has since Day One 35 years ago..is not leaving…Someone came through with a deal at the last minute!!!

Wow…last weekend before the time change. Next Sunday we “fall” back and gain an hour of sleep which I think we will need the morning after Halloween. Sam’s taking off after our show tomorrow….He and his wife-Carol—still working on the in laws deck…
I may have to go up and see what’s happening with this thing…He’s been working on it for years now…ha ha.. Kind of like Sarah Winchester…when she kept working on the Winchester Mystery House.
I may eat my first lobster this weekend. I know..I know..Hard to believe I’ve never tasted lobster. I don’t like fish…..so I just assumed I wouldn’t like lobster. I’m not good about trying new things, but my friends Bob and Susan are throwing a Lobster Feed this weekend, in part to celebrate Victoria’s CPA success. I know Peta won’t be happy, but apparently they do a Lobster race on their deck….before the “guys” are cooked. It is a tough way to go I know. In fact, Sam claims the lobsters scream when they hit the hot water….or was that him screaming? Maybe both….
All I know is there will be some chicken for me to eat…
Wonder how the movie Amelia will do this weekend? I love Richard Gere but have absolutely no interest in seeing it. A listener this morning did have a valid point. She said she knew the Titanic story and didn’t want to see that…and look how that ended up…The Movie of the Year!!!!
Here’s something for you to do this weekend….
There’s a yard sale in Morgan Hill….Sunday from 9-2..at the corner of Del Monte and 2nd street… But this isn’t just any yard sale….Las Madres Morgan Hill has collected many, many things for a very special cause…..a little girl who can take your breath away…she is so sweet. Hailey Abrego…just 3…..and she has a brain tumor. She was diagnosed only this summer. Her family has quite a financial burden ahead of them as they save this sweet little girls life….so go out there and see how you can help. Yard sales are always full of hidden treasures!!!!
Good Times and Good Causes Sam and I like to say..
It is so weird….I never look at YouTube. Although my Christina a few months ago made one of herself riding her Shire….so I did look at that…and will admit about a minute into it I asked “how long is this?”
And who knows…..maybe you’ve got one too.
Saw this morning that every day worldwide….30 thousand hours of new video footage are posted on You Tube. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
Can’t believe how much time we spend daily You tubing …blogging…. googling… tweeting….and e mailing:
900 thousand new blog posts…(one more as soon as I post this)
3 Million new photos on Flickr (Don’t even know what that is)
4 Million new Tweets on Twitter
210 billion e mails are sent daily…and
There are 566 thousand new people on the Internet daily.
Oh My Goodness!!!!!!!
And while you’re at it… look at this …http://tinyurl.com/ygdccp9
A Pork Chop Shaped like Rudolph………No comment…..
Finally got to see the Michael Jackson tribute on Dancing with the Stars from Tuesday night… It was great!!!! Those pro dancers on that show are so incredible…..especially
Derek Hough…and I will admit I just love Maksim. They make what they do seem so easy…..so effortless. I watched it 4 times….and may watch it again today. The only drawback is La Toya….Her introduction was so lame…..and I wish when it was over and they showed the Jacksons in the front row…Mama Jackson (Katherine) would have applauded..or something……She certainly ruined the mood……

Dang it…I finally gave in to temptation this morning. For 2 weeks now, I’ve had a
Bucket of Halloween candy on my desk. It was sent to me from Fox to promote a Simpson Halloween episode. 2 weeks it’s been on my desk!!!! And I never touched a piece of candy until today…and not only did I have some M and M’s..I ate the bite size Snickers bar. 2 weeks I had that stuff on my desk….and didn’t touch it….Dang….
And I ate it while Sam, at the desk next to mine, ate his bin of veggies….yep…carrots, broccoli, celery and tomatoes. No wonder, he’s lost ten pounds the last month or two.
In Touch Magazine has a list of why stars gain weight:
Oprah…eats when she’s stressed. Boy , she must be under a lot of stress….hahahahaha
Kelly Clarkson…has no strict diet.
Jon Gosselin …has no discipline. “Aint that the truth”.
Kirstie Alley….can’t stay away from carbs….which is another way of saying “pie”
Kevin Federline…eats like he’s one of his kids.
I do stay away from carbs. Been over a year now that I first did the SouthBeach diet, and it really works on me. I don’t have stress, I don’t eat like my kids. So I’m thinking this morning I had the Gosselin “problem”… LOL
Have to hand it to Lifetime on Cable. They’ve decided not to air a scheduled rerun of the Wife Swap episode featuring the Heene family. You know the balloon family.
Kudos to them…because I’m guessing any other network would have done so.
Was looking at the top 20 TV shows from last week… Just one new show continues to make the grade week after week….The Good Wife. It really is good…It’s on at 10 Tuesday night’s so I usually watch it the next day. When you put younger people into the mix….Modern Family also makes the top 20. Haven’t seen that one yet, but a listener
yesterday said it really made her laugh.

TODAYS BLOG PRE-EMPTED BY UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES:
JURY DUTY!!!!!
(Sam here) I don't have jury duty - Ms Lissa (Good Citizen who always registers to vote) Kreisler may, though!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they kick her out of the jury chamber TODAY!
Speaking of today, today we talked about unusual celebrity-sightings - Lissa says Patrick Simmons of the Doobie Brothers used her bathroom once - I stood next to Michael Keaton once in a men's room - one caller helped Vincent Price find a bathroom once, and Rich said NASCAR legend Richard Petty made a "pit stop" in his parent's bathroom once. Those are impressive sightings - nothing to, uh, poo poo...
We got a fun call from a listener in Midland Texas, who loves "Cougartown", Courtney Cox's new show, which is so raunchy you want to take a shower before you go to bed - I gotta see that one! Lissa's excited she found out when "The Hangover" is coming out on DVD, and I'm still catching up on "Mad Men", which I got Lissa hooked on. Sadly, we learned that the guy who wrote the theme song to "Green Acres" and "The Addams Family" died. He was 93 and rich, though, so tomorrow, we'll hear from you about your favorite TV-show theme songs. Think about yours and call in! See you then!

Doubt this works anymore…but Gossip Girl star Blake Lively
says when she was a little girl (about 15 years ago) she and her brother
were banned from Disneyland for a year because they were caught trying to sneak in.
And how?….They would find someone who had just gotten an exit stamp on their hand, put hairspray on it and that would let them transfer it to their hand…and in they went until they got caught of course. Weird!!!!!
So I thought we’d get lots of calls this morning on sneaking into different places…but apparently Sam and a listener’s girlfriend are the only dishonest KBAY people. They both have snuck into a second movie.
My brother when he was a senior at Leigh had one of those long convertible cars…and he would put a whole bunch of friends in the trunk…and then get into the drive-in for cheap. I think almost everybody did this back then. Now, we don’t have many drive ins. I also don’t think I’d trust my friends to let me out of the trunk…LOL!!!
What do you think about this? I was down with Christina this weekend. We had a terrific time, but while she was with me her landlord came up to visit. Not only was it a surprise visit, but he used his key and let himself in. I guess that’s not illegal, but does seem wrong…What if the girls were in their underwear …watching TV or something? hmmmmm………
If you need an excuse to go to Morton’s tomorrow nite in downtown San Jose….and don’t have a daughter who just passed all of her CPA tests..ha ha…theyre doing something very cool…
In a partnership with “Feeding America”..they’re having a cocktail/appetizers event from 6-7:30….with Morton’s co-founder Klaus Fritsch. He’s written a cookbook (I’m guessing it’s full of steak recipes). $39 per person..but $5 of it goes to Feeding America.
I think I’m going to go…..
Sam and Lissa's Blog 10/16
What’s it going to be for the weekend? Tomorrow’s KBAY Day at
Gilroy Gardens. The first 1000 who say KBAY get in for $9.45.
There’s even a coupon at KBAY.Com for a free kiddie admission.
Talk about a great deal.
Sam and I have our Saturday show, but he’s then off to the mountains to his in laws. He and his wife-Carol- have been working on the backyard deck up there for I don’t know how long. I’m thinking when they’re finally done..the deck might be better than the house. In fact, so much work has gone into this deck, I’m thinking the in-laws should move outside and live on it.
I’m off to San Luis Obispo to see Christina. I go down once a month, without fail, and I will admit it usually ends up as a shopping excursion downtown on Higuera. Although as I will remind her this weekend, October is always my cut off month for buying things for both girls…because then it’s time for Christmas. So little does she know….she’s about to get her last new thing for 2 months…How will she survive..LOL. You have any shopping rules like that?…a cut off date of sorts .
To be honest the real reason I’m going down is I have a new cell Phone and can’t figure how to use it. It’s not a Blackberry or an I Phone but some new Samsung model that has a keyboard. So far, I have yet to use the keyboard. I still use the number keys on the front for texting which means I make tons of mistakes and I have hung on almost everyone who has called me. SO with Tori out of town on business, Christina is my last resort.
Oh, and the other reason I go down to Cal Poly every month…is because I just love that area….But I hate seeing the girls for such a small time. Since Tori went there too, it’s 6 years now that I’ve been going down there, and without fail when I leave on Sunday I cry every time. And every time Tori and now Christina will say…”if you keep doing this I won’t let you come down anymore. It’s become either a tradition or a ritual…..depending how you look at it. I just hate to say good bye to them and now with Mike gone, I’ve got that 3 hour drive home all by myself…I’m almost always over it though by the time I get to Atascadero and In n Out!!!!
Whatever you’re doing this weekend..hope it’s good.. Just don’t forget to watch Brothers and Sisters Sunday night. Dancing with the Stars Gilles Marini is on for the next five weeks, I think, as Sara’s French Lover……Ooh La La!!!!!

You know me and TV…there was no way Sam and I were going to let this one go by….the anniversary today of the I Love Lucy Show. Not often there’s a show that Sam and I are both so into. But is there anyone who doesn’t love that show? As My Mom used to say with a Yiddish accent “what’s there not to like”. I actually went on Wikipedia. It took up 16 pages on the copy machine. (Don’t tell the boss-I had no idea I’d waste that much paper) SO this is what I learned….The originals ran from 10/15/51 to 4/1/60. There were 194 episodes including the lost Christmas episode. It was the most watched show
In four of it’s six seasons and was the first to end at number one….which in later years has been done only by 2 other shows…The Andy Griffith Show and Seinfeld. I guess Friends wasn’t number one when it went off. Won 5 Emmys and is ranked as the 2nd great show of all time....behind Seinfeld and in front of the Honeymooners.
There were a few story lines that were actually true…..Lucy Ricardo and Lucille Ball had the same birthday, both were born in Jamestown New York and Lucy and Desi were married in the same place as Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz.
And Wikipedia lists these are among the favorite episodes.
Lucy Does a TV Commercial—“Vitameatavegamin”
Job Switching—The candy factory
Lucy and Superman- She dresses as Superman for Little Ricky’s Birthday party ..gets caught on the apartment ledge…..and the real Superman (George Reeves) rescues her.
L-A at Last—She eats at the Brown Derby –wants to meet William Holden and Ricky later surprises her. She’s got the putty nose on. That they said was her favorite…Sam’s too!!!
Lucy and Harpo Marx—She’s disguised as him, and Ricky brings the real “him” home.
Lucy Does the Tango….this is when she has all t hose eggs stuffed in her blouse…..and they break.
Makes you want to go watch an I Love Lucy episode on TV doesn’t it. Sam says the Hallmark channel has several on every day. Or just come to my home…We’ll crack open my VHS copies. You’ll need to bring a player though. I only have one for DVD’s now.
Such a shame too.,..as I have an entire wicker chest full of DVD’s…and most of them Disney ones from when the girls were little. Just can’t bare to part with them…even though I know when they eventually have kids, I’ll buy all new ones for them…and by that time..who knows what format we’ll be looking at . LOL!!!!
I can’t believe I’ve written this much on I Love Lucy…..but I sure do!!!!!

It’s all about time…or rather “It’s all in your timing”.
Saw a list this morning of the best time to do different things…
Comes from a book called “Buy Ketchup in May and Fly at Noon…by Mark Di Vincenzo.
1.The DMV- middle of the month, middle of the week and either mid morning or mid-afternoon. They say at the beginning or end of the day, week or month, people are rushing in because of expiration dates.
2.Oil Change- just before the place is closing. Earlier in the day, they’re more likely to recommend extra repairs and replacement parts. At the end of the day, they’re in a hurry to change your oil only and go home.
3.Pharmacy- get your prescriptions filled between 10am and noon. You’ll avoid morning, lunch and afternoon rush crowds.
4.Post Office- about a half hour after it opens.
5.Fly- noon on a Saturday. Fewest number of planes then, so you’re more likely to be on time.
6.Eat Out- Tuesday. Slowest day of the week in a restaurant. Yet that’s when most of them get their deliveries, so the food is freshest that day.
7.Ask for a Raise- Friday. Bosses are more open to negotiation at the end of the week because they too are looking forward to a weekend and with no conflict. Worst day to ask for a raise…Wednesday.
If these don’t work out for you…please don’t blame Sam or me. It’s all Mark Di Vincenzo’s fault!!!! He’s the one we got these from.
But if you’ve got any more first-hand tips..let us know!!!!
These are good too..the four best kept secrets in the world.
The formula for Coke.
The Farmer’s Almanac Formula for predicting the weather 2 years in advance.
KFC’s 11 Herbs and Spices.
The person Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain” is about. Most everyone thinks Warren Beatty. Sam thinks it’s him!!!!!.
And the funniest line of the morning….sadly wasn’t from us…..but a listener.
During the KBAY DAILY DISH right after 8, we were talking about the new
Reality show…Leave it to Lamas…starring Lorenzo Lamas….. A caller thanked us for setting it straight…she thought the show was called “Lame-Ass”…..
Nothing funnier….

Has today not been awful? Sam and I were lucky …we got to work before the storm really moved in…but for you……Oh My!!!!
I actually love this weather, but on a weekend when I’m at home. And they say this is
The start of another El Nino pattern which means we will have many days just like this.
There was one point this morning about 8 when the CHP had 60 accidents on the
“incident” sheet. What is it that makes us drive the same way whether it’s nice or nasty outside? And don’t you hate it when the power goes out. You forget how dependent you are on electricity. There’s the alarm clock, the coffee maker, the hair dryer, the curling iron, the electric razor (you guys still use those?), the hot water for the shower, the DVR to record your TV shows (ha ha), and here’s hoping your radio isn’t a plug in…but runs on batteries as well. At least, you’ve got the one in the car to turn on KBAY….and Sam and Lissa….ha ha…
With this stormy weather….it’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas…Okay..maybe not!! But you know what’s in the store today….new Christmas CD’s. I know it’s October 13th. We haven’t even passed out Halloween candy yet. These are good ones though.
Sugarland- Gold and Green
David Archuletta-Christmas from the Heart
Bob Dylan- Christmas in the Heart ….Wait he’s Jewish!!!
Neil Diamond- A Cherry Cherry Christmas
Barry Manilow- In the Swing of Christmas
Isn’t that funny. Archuletta’s and Dylan’s CD’S have nearly the same title…and wait
Dylan is Jewish!!!!
Dancing with the Stars......Chuck Lydell tonite? Or Maybe Michael Irvin.
Brothers and Sisters…I’m always a day late watching that one. I almost can’t take the sadness anymore. It looks like they will start to lighten things up next week with Gilles Marini…and Sarah. How many times did Dancing show them last night sitting in the front row? Noone self- promotes like ABC..that’s for sure.
Sam is always a day late with Mad Men. He too feels bad for Sal….Poor Sal!!!!

SO who cleaned out their closet or closets this weekend. Both Sam and I did…
How weird is that.,..although I cleaned out a bunch of closets…Closets are like kitchen drawers…aka junk drawers…..Don’t we all have at least one..where you throw anything just to get it off the table or the floor…In one closet, I had Victoria’s old bedding from her college house that still looked to be in great shape, but would probably never be used again. I’m thinking when she finally gets her own place; she’ll pick out something a little more grown up…than pink and green flowers (although it is very cute). We also had a collection of back packs and computer cases..and books….did we have books.
Anyway….Goodwill is now sorting through my stuff and maybe yours too…along with the 5 bags of clothing. I had so much stuff stuffed into my bedroom closets that there were outfits with the tags still on them. One I’m wearing today….thank you very much!!!!
Everything looks so neat and organized now..I just like to open the doors to take a peek.
By the end of winter though…..it will be one chaotic mess again! Maybe even before that…ha ha.
Noticed this weekend a few more porches decorated for Halloween.
One of my neighbors has a crystal ball…like the one in Disneyland’s
Haunted House that... has a face in it. It’s a little scarier though than the woman
down at Disneyland… Haven’t bought any candy yet, although I’m going to Cal Poly this weekend to see Christina and I always bring her some.. But believe me..it won’t be any of this crazy stuff…….Spooky Nerds…Body Parts, Zit Poppers, Box of Boogers and Scab-A-Roni. Who buys that stuff?
Seeing more costume places too…Read this morning that the Bernie Madoff mask will be a big. I wonder….Sam thinks’ it’s an East Coast thing. They say Sarah Palin masks although I think that’s so last year. My friend Janette looked just like her last year..with the suit and wire rimmed glasses… New emerging costumes…although I haven’t seen them…Kate Gosselin…. Michael Jackson (curly wig, sequined glove and leggings).
The kids I guess are still into Hannah Montana and High School Musical..and for
Republicans..there’s an Obama joker mask.
I’d much rather talk Christmas….a new holiday poll….shows number one
Gift “want” is clothing and accessories. Now that’s a “duh”. You watch the next 2 and a half months will fly…Always does once we get into October.

Got this today from my friend Gerald..
Not sure if you’ve seen it before..but it’s so worth passing along….
Grab your kleenix..and think it through.
Their marriage was good, their dreams focused. Their best friends lived barely a wave away. I can see them now, Dad in trousers, tee shirt and a hat and Mom in a house dress, lawn mower in one hand, and dishtowel in the other. It was the time for fixing things. A curtain rod, the kitchen radio, screen door, the oven door, the hem in a dress. Things we keep.
It was a way of life, and sometimes it made me crazy. All that re-fixing, eating, renewing, I wanted just once to be wasteful. Waste meant affluence. Throwing things away meant you knew there'd always be more.
But then when I lost someone close to me, I was struck with the pain of learning that sometimes there isn't any more.
Sometimes, what we care about most gets all used up and goes away...never to return. So... While we have it... it's best we love it...And care for it.... And fix it when it's broken..... And heal it when it's sick.
This is true... For marriage.... And old cars.... And children with bad report cards..... Dogs and cats with bad hips..... And aging parents.... And grandparents. We keep them because they are worth it, because we are worth it. Some things we keep. Like a best friend that moved away or a classmate we grew up with.
There are just some things that make life important, like people we know who are special.... And so, we keep them close!
I received this from someone who thinks I am a 'keeper', so I've sent it to the people I think of in the same way... you too are a keeper.
Good friends are like stars.... You don't always see them, but you know they are always there.

Maybe I’d better read over those swine flu prevention tips again from yesterday…both Sam and I are feeling icky… Maybe I should also reconsider getting the vaccine. The company insurance company will pay….In fact…most of the major insurance companies announced today they will cover the swine flu vaccines..with no co pay at all. So roll up those sleeves!!!!!
There’s even an official government site for the swine flu now….Flu.gov. I’m guessing by the time flu season is over, we will have all thought we had it at least once…and every time you start to feel ill…you’ll think you’re coming down with it..
This is what really caught my eye today….scientists are working on a new gadget that may help doctors determine in minutes your risk of developing breast cancer. It’s small
Enough to fit into a pocket and uses just a small blood sample or sliver of breast tissue to determine estrogen levels…Would be for doctors only..which is a good thing, because knowing me..if I had that device..I’d be checking myself all the time. Maybe five years they say.
Are you a Kristen Chenowith fan?..I love her…The first couple of times I saw Wicked, she was Glenda…..and I still think she’s the best of them all…But now of course she’s a well known TV Star..and an Emmy winner to boot. I saw this really cute article on her ….where she said her real name is Kristi….but that she added an N to be taken more seriously, she loves Dolly Parton, crime shows and her dog so much that she wishes
She gave birth to her. She is so darn cute!!!!
If you’re free Saturday night, Sam and I will be helping out with Light the Night at Palo Alto High School benefitting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Can’t wait to be a part of it. There will be filled hundreds of illuminated red, white and gold balloons during the course of the 2 mile walk. We would love to have your company. You can sign up for Team KBAY and or make a donation at KBAY.COM.
That’s why we did our show in Palo Alto this morning… That’s a great Starbucks on University at Waverly…a great mix of Stanford students, medical people and local workers and residents.

This could be the Christmas invention of the year…
A British company is selling half-a-Christmas tree
That can be pushed up flat against a wall, for people with tiny places.
Love it!!!!!!Although I’m betting it won’t be “half” price . But think about…you won’t have to worry about decorating the “back’’ of the Christmas tree, which never looks as good as the “front” anyway. This may be the greatest invention since the artificial Christmas tee with lights already on it. I have one of those!!!!!
And here’s today’s stupid idea… Japan’s All Nippon Airways is asking passengers to use the bathroom before boarding. They even have agents standing at the gates to tell you this. They claim empty bladders mean lighter passengers, which means less fuel use. I’m thinking the plane will be even lighter because it will take off while half the passengers are still in line for the bathroom.
Didn’t get to see all of Dancing last nite. Sam and I were at the Loggins and Messina concert at the Mt. Winery. I tuned in just after Len gave Michael Irvin a 4 …so I had to rewind to watch…and yes….Irvin is bad!!! He’s a toe worse than Tom DeLay. De Lay is so creepy though…with that finger he points at you. Talk about an ego. I got “yelled” at the other day by a listener for criticizing Debbi Mazur(sp)..but everyone I talk to wants her voted off…. So I guess after Irvin and DeLay, she’ll go.
Last show tonite at the Mt. Winery and if you are going to see Loggins and Messina…dress warm. Could not believe how cold it was. Make sure you get their earlier enough for the opening at….the Gabe Dixon Band. It’s actually just Gabe and his friend, but two makes a band!!! He is so good. He sings six songs and one of them is the theme song from the Proposal with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. Had no idea he wrote it. It is so good…and another one he sings about being on the road also sounds like a movie theme song… Maybe that will be his calling. We actually had him at the station last year….I think he’s on his way…..

In case there was any doubt that Fall is here….all you had to do was step outside this morning….Wow..Was it cold. I’m thinking that I have to stop wearing Capris and open toed shoes to work. I just so hate to give up on the warmer weather….
Noticed everyone coming in this morning with their heavy jackets. Also noticed two or three limping…They, it turns out, walked the San Jose Rock n Roll Half Marathon…all 13 miles. Good for them!!!
This Saturday is a much smaller walk….2 miles I think. It’s Light the Night for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Big family night , at Palo Alto High. Sam and I will be walking and doing the M-C honors as well. Hope you can be part of the KBAY team…and make a donation as well. We just have to get a cure. We’ve made it easy for you at KBAY.Com. On the left side, you’ll see events and we’ve got the link on that page. (near the bottom)
In fact…Thursday, we will get all warmed up with our show in Palo Alto at the Starbucks at Waverly and University.
We were talking about Pet Peeves this morning….gripes you have about
“Kids run wild”….The Travelocity Rudeness Poll puts Children running in restaurants,
and children touching food at the buffet at the top of the list, followed by children alone in the pool, parents who bring children into a bar and children running around naked.
We had some funny calls …but the one I thought was cutest came from a carload of girls from Presentation. Mia always does the talking. They call every week or so and she said said she couldn’t stand these young kids who call KBAY every week…Sam and I couldn’t stop laughing.
My friend Gerald sent me one via e-mail..and it’s good too…
He said he was in a Chinese restaurant in San Francisco years ago…
And there were some kids running circles ‘round the round table’ and then later, sitting underneath it with silverware, banging on the metal legs. The family, he said, ate there a lot…they were “neighbors, so the owner didn’t like to complain. Gerald later found out the frequent diners with misbehaving kids were Robin Williams and clan….
Hmmmmmmmm………..

Did you see the study today from Denmark?....that if current aging trends continue, more than half of all babies born today..will live to be 100. I’m so glad I was born a few years ago (HA HA) …I really don’t want to live that long…. I’m thinking 90 or so may be enough!!!!
We’ll see how young or old I feel Monday morning. This is the weekend that I go to San Francisco with my Morgan Hill friends….Susan, Dawn, Sharon, Nancy, Patty, Teresa, Joan and my “bestest” friend of them all Janette. Jan, I’m afraid has to miss this one. At one at time, at least, all 9 of us lived in Morgan Hill but now Patty’s in Roseville, Sharon Nancy and I are in San Jose. We all got to know each other over 15 years ago at Jackson School at a Home and School Club meeting. In fact, we were most of the meeting. Not many others came. We’ve stayed friends and try to see each other every few months. And once a year, it’s a weekend away….and this time San Francisco. We’ll see Wicked tomorrow and then shop eat , drink and gab the rest of the time. Our rule is whatever is said at these weekends away…stays at these weekends away. It’s our own Las Vegas!!! I like to call it Girls Gone Wild or as Wild as a bunch of “older ladies” can get. Sam this morning called it Cougars Gone Wild. I’ll put a picture up Monday. I’m guessing you’ll go with the Girls Gone Wild.
Sam had his big fun yesterday….last home game of the Giants..He so loves his Giants…and they won…This weekend, he and his wife –Carol- are going to the mountains…..Placerville where his wife-Carol-‘s- parents live.
Still can’t get over the Letterman story. He handled the aftermath great last nite. I don’t know who else could have done it as well, but come on....admit it…..you had to be stunned?David Letterman sleeping with female staffers. I just don’t want to picture that… Unfortunately for him…I think the other shoe may be about to drop and there might be a few more after that. A few loud “thumps” could be coming.
