Sam and Lissa's Blog!

Check out the latest blog from Sam and Lissa!

Sam and Lissa's Blog 6/26
Well…we made it through the morning…Was hard to think of anything or anyone other than Michael Jackson…..until I saw Sam’s picture of his daughter in law…son and new grandbaby Paul!!!! What a perfect picture.
My favorite line from Sam this morning…that Ed McMahon died first this week....so that he could announce the arrival of Farrah Fawcett and then Michael Jackson.
How sweet is that.....

Glad all the graduations are over…this will be no weekend to sit in a grandstand waiting for your kids name to be read….Can you say too hot!!!!OMG. It will be like it was a few weeks ago…..actually many weeks ago…when we were sizzling with heat alerts. And we’ve got one for the entire weekend.

Perfect time for a popsicle.. Here’s some “sticky” history. The popsicle was accidentally invented in 1905 by 11 year old Frank Epperson..in San Francisco. He had left a mixture of powdered soda and water ..and a stirring stick in a cup on his porch. That night San Francisco had record low temperatures and Epperson awoke the next morning to find a frozen pop that would eventually become a favorite American treat.
True Story!!!!

You might want to try this out…..Saw it in Women’s World..Yep…never thought I’d be reading Woman’s World but……….
Anyway..if you want to keep cool……and who won’t want to this weekend… eat hot spicy foods. Eating hot foods makes you sweat..and when the sweat evaporates on your skin…..it instantly cools you down. True Story.

4 reasons to stay in for dinner this weekend…
1. You don’t know what you’re eating…To make food taste better..restaurants use a lot of ingredients that aren’t listed on the menu…like butter, oil, sugar and cream (and who knows what else)
2.The portions are out of control. To make it look like you’re getting a lot for your money, restaurants give you Way more food than you need...and if its on our plate we tend to eat it…all of it…every bite.
3.You’re not really paying for the food. Huh? You’re paying for the atmosphere and the service. In fact..for an average restaurant meal, you pay about 4-5 times what the food actually costs.
4.The food is usually low quality.. It might taste good….but most restaurants buy in bulk…and food in bulk usually isn’t organic or free range.

WHO CARES….You know me..I don’t cook..I eat out..or do take out. And, by the way, I finally got to eat at “Opa”  in Willow Glen last nite…Talk about a great Greek Experience… the food was so yummy..and really reasonably priced.  It may become my new favorite place.

And one last thing..I’m becoming a “Big Girl” this weekend. My first vacation by myself…Mike passed away 2 years ago....and my daughters can’t go with me every time…so it’s just me…going to Canada…to see my brother Scott who lives on Salt Spring Island..and then to Victoria for a couple of days. May sound like nothing to you….but this is an accomplishment for me. Maybe next…. I will be going to a restaurant to eat a meal by myself…Okay…not so fast on that one…
Sam and Lissas Blog 6/25
Babies R Us…My brother Neal and his wife Ora had their first baby the other day… and last night Sam’s younger son Jonah  and his wife Nadine had their first….also a boy…Sam said he is so darn cute….It was neat…because Sam happened to be out to dinner with Jonah (a belated Fathers Day get together ) when Jonah got the call from Nadine to get to the hospital…So Sam went too  and got to be there when Jonah walked out of the nursery with the great news!!!. So Sam’s a proud Grandpa again. I think between all his children he may now have enough grandkids for a football team…That’s a lot of Grandpa Sam lovin’.  Makes me smile!!!!! There’s nothing like a new baby….

Which leads me to last night’s shopping tale. Tori and I went to Macys to buy baby clothes for my new nephew. And one thing is clear…there’s not much for infant boys. There’s rack after rack of adorable little girl dresses, onesies and jammies…
You could be in and out of the store in 2 minutes…But what to pick for infant boys? Not so easy….There are just 2 racks of  outfits… They all look the same..they’re almost all the same color…brown , tan or blue…and that’s it!!!

By the way…something cute for the next baby gift you buy. The gal at Macys gift wrapping  came up with this. I had bought a bunch of clothes and a stuffed animal…an adorable giraffe....that was soft and cuddly. She boxed and wrapped the clothes....but saved the giraffe for the top of the box. She put the ribbon around it.  It was just too CUTE!!!
I’ve got to mail it down to San Diego…and am so sad I won’t get to see them open it.

Did you notice today is June 25th.?  So what you say…
Well we are exactly 6 months away from Christmas.
When do you think the store decorations go up?

I don’t know if this is in the store yet, but I sure love the idea.
Skid Out….It removes deodorant lines from your clothes. Boy, do I need that. I can’t believe how often I’m some place and realize I have a white mark on the side of my top.
If I catch it at home, I get rid of it with a shoe buffer I once bought. It’s like thin foam, sort of what you find sometimes on store hangers…but usually I don’t notice it until it’s too late. They say Skid Out works on marks from toothpaste and make up too. Gotta get some!!!!

Yeah....tomorrow’s Friday. We’ve got the big Studio 94 Dance Party at Hotel Valencia in Santana Row. Get up early tomorrow….call at 6:30 for Too Early to Think. 1 800 948-KBAY (5229) Hopefully, you’ll be the one we put on the guest list.
Sam and Lissa's Blog...6/24
I don’t know if you’re going on vacation this summer or not….If you’re not….don’t feel bad…a lot of people aren’t in this tough economy…but Oprah as you might imagine isn’t one of them. Loved the story on AOL this morning that Oprah as a thank you to her employees has taken them all on a Mediterranean cruise…but even before they got on the ship..she threw a big party for them in Barcelona. I don’t know how many workers she has..but she’s taken 1700 on this trip…so I’m thinking employees and guests.
But you know what this cost? $5400 a person. Sam figured out the math because I was not capable..9 million dollars…

You know how I love Oprah…and heck..she’s got so much money…..this amounts to pennies..and good for her staff. I’m sure they work very hard….starting with her make-up and hair people (although you’ll agree…sometimes they do a terrible job) but I’m not sure in this tough economy…as she has reminded us on every show…that this is a smart thing to do. Bad P-R I’m thinking. And I’m also guessing there won’t be any money left for any free Pontiacs this coming season.  What would Suze Orman say? I don’t even want to think about that…..ha ha

If you’ve got kids away at college..maybe you can relate to this. Christina is moving out of her apartment in San Luis Obispo and into a house. Every time I go down to see her..I get upset when I see the apartment..because it’s a pigsty. She says it’s the apartment..that it looked bad before she moved in. Plus..there’s a ton of flies in it.. I blamed the rabbit cage…but last nite she told me while packing she and her roommate lifted a box that had been in the corner for months…..and under the box… .there was  sticky stuff (probably from a drink that spilled) .and there were actually fly eggs …..so it wasn’t the rabbit after all!!!  SEE MOM!!!!!you were wrong!!!!

Did you hear the news about Jon and Kate plus 8? Record ratings for TLC  the other night..but the cable network has decided it’s best to put the show on hold for a while…
The remote is on pause!!!!!

I’m a Celebrity…get me out of here has its finale tonite…..One last chance for NBC to get a few more people to watch…They’ve announced over and over again…Speidi (Spencer and Heidi) will be back. I’m guessing Lou Diamond Phillips will be the winner!!!

And then we can forget about it. It’s being replaced by America’s Got Talent which is such a fun show to watch.. Nick Cannon (Mariah Carey’s husband) is the new host. He was a little too much for me last night…but heck…take a look at his wedding ring. You can’t miss it!!!!

The KBAY Connection newsletter went out this morning. Hope you didn’t miss that either!!!! We’re featuring the guys of summer…The Jonas Brothers and the New Kids on the Block.
Sam and Lissa's Blog 6/23
How does she do it? I was in the book store yesterday and there it was…another new Danielle Steel book. I haven’t even finished the one she came out with about 6 weeks ago. Just too many distractions….like Jon and Kate…(ha ha)

And let’s just wrap them up….the show will now be called John Or Kate plus 8….and then eventually John and Kate Plus 8 Lawyers. And wasn’t it great last nite to hear Jon say he doesn’t hate Kate and then Kate said she doesn’t hate Jon. So that’s good..that makes two people on Earth don’t hate them. Actually, if I didn’t know all t he Jon and Kate stuff that’s been going on, and I watched for the first time last nite, I’d say it was Jon who was the bad one….Kate had the Kleenex box and looked really tired and depressed…while he was taking about feeling excited and hurt at the same time and ready for his new life in New York.. Hello Jon…you’ve got 8 kids who need you!!!!!!

Hard to talk about Jon and Kate in the same sentence as Ed McMahon. His death this morning really made me sad. He was one of my favorites. Even with all of his money and medical troubles…..he was always upbeat and positive…and never took himself too seriously. Ed was one of the good ones!!!!!

I guess this seemed like a good idea at the time…the Belgian teenager who had her picture all over the Internet because a tattoo artist gave her 56 stars on her face. She said she asked for just three….fell asleep and woke up with 56 stars…and now feels like a freak. She has now confessed….she didn’t fall asleep at all. She asked for the 56 stars….but made up the story after her dad saw her face and started screaming at her.

How did anyone believe this? Can you imagine falling asleep while getting a tattoo.
I was wincing in pain, just watching my daughter get her ears pierced…let alone a tattoo. And yes she has one of those too!!! Actually just one of my two daughters has a tattoo. (as far as I know)

If you haven’t been able to get invites to Studio 94 which is this Friday night…
Be listening tomorrow morning….We’ll give you an extra chance to win.
Sam and Lissa's Blog 6/22
How will we make it through the day?
Waiting for 6pm and the big announcement from Jon and Kate…
Just kidding!!!! But yes I’ll be watching and no Sam won’t be.

Rumored announcements for tonite….besides the big D or separation.
They’re going to play Rock, Paper, Scissors for the custody of each kid.
They’re also want an apology from David Letterman.
Jon wants us to know he has an “H” in his first name. Shocker..I know..
Whatever the announcement, let’s hope none of the kids needs water beforehand..because he or she is out of luck… and finally..whatever they say
Let’s hope it’s followed with  “Your shows been cancelled!!!!”

Like I said…..I’ll be watching tonite at 6. Don’t worry if you’re like Sam ….and plan to skip it. We’ll talk tomorrow morning.

Today is Stupid Things Guys do….
And we heard several this morning…
How guys “fart” and think its funny or at least something that we should all pay attention to…..
How guys never put up the toilet seat..and also don’t aim very well!!!!
How guys want cheers and accolades for anything they do around the house.
How guys cook dinner once a year..and think that’s all they have to do. It’s up to everyone else to clean up.
Sam threw in his stupid guy thing..that when he has the remote and while changing channels sees a Godfather Movie..has to stop and watch it…
And of course the one stupid  guy thing we all know…..no man will ever ask  for directions….no matter what!!!!

Hope everyone in your family had a good Fathers day…
True fact…that we spend a lot more on Mom than Dad. One marketing expert thinks its because we generally spend more time with Mom and may feel more obligation toward her but that it doesn’t mean they love dad less…

But it might!! JUST KIDDING.

Tori and I went out to the cemetery to spend some time at Mike’s spot…(her dad ..my husband) and we couldn’t believe what was going on.. I have never seen so many people at the cemetery. They had one-way controlled traffic down the various streets. It was like a party. In fact…near us..it was a party. Someone brought in a Mariachi Band.

Poor Sam…his sons are all fathers....or fathers to be and the show went on without him.
That’s okay…Sam has many special days with them.

On to the next big day..July 4th…Sam and I all set to go for the Morgan Hill parade. Hopefully you’re making plans to join us. It’s really quite an experience. I think almost the whole town turns out to watch.

But first things first….this Friday night is Studio 94 at the Hotel Valencia in Santana Row. We’ll have chances for you to get invites all this week..but make sure you’ve also signed up at KBAY.COM.
Sam and Lissa's Blog-6/19
So I guess you heard about Jon and Kate….that there is a special one hour show Monday night that involves a life changing decision for Jon and Kate plus the 8 kids….and that it will put them at peace…..or something like that. So I guess it means a separation or divorce….so we’ll all watch like we did for the season opener.
And can we all agree..that if we watch..and there is no “announcement” we never watch again….actually how about we all agree…we just never watch again no matter what.
Sam and I never even knew anything about these two people until a few weeks ago and I think we both agree....that we don’t like either one of them. Every show is about them getting something free….The kids are adorable though. Too bad they couldn’t pick different parents…

Speaking of parents…in particular Dads….Did we have fun this morning with favorite TV Dads….In fact…if you go to the Sam and Lissa Page at KBAY.Com…you can vote for yours. We only give your four choices though.

But here are all the ones people called in with… I remember some of the TV names..but not all…I’m better on the shows.

Bill Cosby-Cliff Huxtable- Cosby Show
Tim Taylor- Tim Allen –Home Improvement
Bob Saget-Full House
Ward Cleaver- Hugh Beaumont- Leave it to Beaver
Pa Ingalls –Michael Landon-Little House on the Prairie
Jim Anderson- Robert Young – Father Knows Best
Bill Bixby—Courtship of Eddies Father
Lorne Greene-Bonanza
Mike Farrell from Mash…neither Sam nor I remembered he had a daughter back in the states.

So many of the favorite TV dads are gone.. (dead) ..but hey what’s cool about TV is they live on forever…

Hope the Dad in your life has a great day…. Sam should be getting lots of phone calls from his brood….I always marvel at how he makes a point of seeing his kids as difficult as it is now that they’re all grown up and have their own families. My Dad Marty is 89. I’ll be with him on Sunday.  My daughters’ have a tough time with this holiday…as Mike passed away 2 years ago, but we had a lot of great Dad  moments and we take some time to remember those…and before you know it…we’re smiling and laughing.
Maybe I’m talking about you too……and if so…I hope you get through the day with some of those as well.

Come back on Monday…so much fun stuff….Mountain Winery Monday…7:40… we’ll get you set up for Huey Lewis and the News…and both the prize room is open and overflowing….we’ll be sending people to Gilroy Gardens…Roaring Camp..and the big event on Friday nite the 26th….the Studio 94 dance party at Hotel Valencia, Santana Row.

Forget 90210….We’ve got 95125…. Now..there’s a zip code!!!!…..Willow Glen is what community and neighborhood is all about. Sam and I had such a great time this morning doing our show from Starbucks at Lincoln and Minnesota. They get up early in Willow Glen…lots of people walking at 5:30…and I don’t know how many dogs we counted. I don’t think you can live in Willow Glen unless you have a dog!!!!! Actually, it’s one of my favorite spots to walk.  My friend and I usually walk down Pine , Nevada and Cherry….look at all the great homes. Sam was reading online that even way back when…before even he was around (ha ha) real estate was pricey in Willow Glen…No tract neighborhoods back then…every home is different.

I guess 30 thousand or so are expected for Dancing on the Avenue Saturday night…on Lincoln. And if that’s true ....there will be 60 thousand happy feet!!!! Bring your happy feet over to the KBAY booth….We’ll have some surprises for you…

Busy weekend for KBAY. We’ll also be out at the Silicon Valley Duck Race at Lake Vasona on Fathers Day.

Speaking of Fathers Day…I’ve been saving this . It goes great with our Fathers Day giveaway…at KBAY.COM…. and yes…you can copy this and hang it right over the BBQ!!!..
                                     BBQ RULES
Routine...
(1)The woman buys the food.
(2)The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert.
(3)The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill - beer in hand.
(4)The woman remains outside the compulsory three meter exclusion zone where the exuberance of testosterone and other manly bonding activities can take place without the interference of the woman.
Here comes the important part:
(5)THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.
More routine...
(6)The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.
(7)
The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is looking great. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he flips the meat.
Important again:
(8)THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.
More routine...
(9) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table.
(10) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.
And most important of all:
(11)EveryonePRAISEStheMANandTHANKS HIMfor his cooking efforts and the EXCELLENT outcome.
(12)The man asks the woman how she enjoyed 'her night off',and, upon seeing her predictably annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women.

Let me know how many people you forward thist to!!!!

Not only is tomorrow Friday….its World Sauntering Day…and Eat An Oreo
Day….Can you think of anything better?….I’m counting three good things right there….
Oh….and two more…Sam and Lissa…. (okay ..whatever)
Sam and Lissa's Blog 6/17
Don’t forget about this “steal of a deal” for today…Through tonite, you can get lawn tickets for the Shoreline in Mt. View or the Sleep Train Pavilion for $24.99….
And with no extra fees. It’s that special Wednesday deal that Live Nation has been offering this summer….Got to admit..it’s a great deal…That would be 4 tickets for just under $100. I think the lawn tickets for No Doubt are all gone but there are a bunch of other good shows coming up. I noticed that the Shoreline on July 4th is having a fireworks show with the San Francisco Symphony…and it looks like that may be one of the few big displays that night …more cities keep cancelling their annual fireworks shows.

Speaking of shows…Last nite the Real Housewives of New Jersey was as great as expected. In fact, I was sad when it was over. Is there anyone who likes Danielle? Certainly not me…but boy do I love those other ladies.. Caroline, Dina, Teresa and sweet Jacqueline. I can’t believe their houses though. I still don’t understand how they have so much money (well…..maybe I do…it’s New Jersey after all..and one husband is in construction  and the other the restaurant-events business) I watched the Sopranos!!!!!!

Did you hear our list this morning of the ten most commonly misspelled words in the English language?

1. Definitely
2. Sacrilegious
3. Indict
4. Maneuver
5. Bureaucracy
6. Broccoli
7. Phlegm
8. Prejudice
9. Concensus
10. Unnecessary

And yes..those were all spelled correctly. I hit spell-check.  Give the test to people you know. Come up with some silly prize. Our prize this morning wasn’t so silly. It was good…..Yanni tickets.

Have a lot of your friends lately been asking you to buy AVON..Mary Kay… Tupperware or something else... When I go to Curves to work out ..which I might add.. hasn’t been very often lately..I notice a lot of brochures in the cubbies….Alot more people are trying to make a few extra dollars right now with part time sales. Found out today though..there’s not a ton of money in it. Mary Kay gals probably do the best….as much as $600 a week…if they host parties with facials…. an average Tupperware party can add up to $100….and if you’re an average AVON sales rep…and you keep 50% of your total sales…you’ll earn about $185 every three months.

Don’t forget..we’re doing our show from Willow Glen tomorrow….from the great Starbucks at the corner of Lincoln and Minnesota. They’ve got a great big window
Overlooking Lincoln..and that’s where we get to sit…Come on by…its National Splurge Day….so splurge on a cup of coffee…and have some fun with us.

And check your e- mail….if you haven’t already…..the KBAY Connection Newsletter went out this morning….and if you don’t know what I’m talking about…go back to the home page of KBAY.Com..make the Connection.,..and get the next one.
Sam and Lissa's Blog 6/16
It’s funny what catches your eye…and for me…this was the
headline I remembered most….Americans are over healthy living!!!!
It’s got to be true..it’s in Newsweek (ha ha) They counted how many Americans followed five healthy habits....things like eating fruits and veggies…getting enough exercise…
And the number of people who did all five has been cut in half over the past 20years…
Plus Americans are now drinking more alcohol and moving less….

So yeah..there are lots of “little Lissa’s”  out there.

And where have all our favorite places gone? . Sam and I start reminiscing this morning…and then one by one..the list grew… You ready to walk down Memory  Lane? The doors have closed at Woolworths, Gemco, Shakeys, Bullwinkles, Me n Eds, Farrells Ice Cream Parlor,Crystal Creamery, Chicken DeLite (remember the little chicken on the delivery car?) Lou’s Donuts, and of course, Frontier Village. Frontier Village lives on though every summer with a reunion picnic at Edenvale Park. In fact, there’s one the end of this month.

Not sure this is a good thing….They’re planning a sequel to the Hangover. The
Director says they were  thinking of  sequel ideas when they were shooting but only because it was so much fun to talk about  while hanging out on the set. But now that the movie has made so much money….they’re doing one for sure.
I don’t know how you can top the first movie…Were any of the American Pie’s as good as the first one?

Here’s the list of foods that make you less hungry….
apples…..caffeine, water, wasabi, oatmeal, salmon, almonds.

Foods that make you want to eat more…donuts, ice cream, cookies, potato chips………..(that's the Sam and Lissa list)

Must see TV tonite…..no,, not “I’m A Celebrity”…..
But the Real Housewives of New Jersey. Can’t believe tonite’s the season finale.
I think this is the shortest season of all the “housewives” and it’s been the best too.
I think Teresa tries to smack Danielle tonite…or throw a table at her …or something like that……

Hope you’ve made the KBAY Connection this week….We’ve got Studio 94 coming up…and a great Dad’s give away.
Sam and Lissa's Blog 6/15
SO what did I learn this morning from Sam?.....that he stays in a lot nicer hotels than I do..We were going over this survey in USA Today….
What is the first thing you do after checking into a hotel room?

He said check the mini-bar. I said check the bathroom. Now that’s how I tell how nice a hotel is…plus I look through the toiletries..but Sam…he looks in the min-bar…probably to see what he’d better not buy!!! He said his wife-Carol- checks the view. Mine is usually the parking lot. No need to see that.

See if any of these answers belong to you:
34%-adjust the thermostat
25%-turn on the TV
21%-unpack (neither Sam and I do that at all. We both live out of our suitcases!!!!)
7%-check out the free toiletries (that’s me…and then I put in my suitcases the ones I want to take so I get new ones the next day)
2%-plug in rechargeable electronics…(that’s my girls…their cell phones…can’t miss a call you know)
1%-find the gym ( I don’t even find the gym at home)
10%-other.
Speaking of vacation…...I saw this morning that 6 out of 10 women use work to plan their vacation (I’m guilty). We’re more apt than men to go online and look at hotels and excursions..things like that. I think it’s because we are so much more organized than men at work..so we have more free time (ha ha). I’m actually going to Canada in a couple of weeks..to see my brother who lives on Saltspring Island..and then to Victoria. Later in the summer…I’m taking the girls to Hawaii. Sam does his vacationing in the winter…(skiing) so he’s taking just a couple of days off for his wife-Carol’s birthday..and then it’s no time off until Christmas…

Sam went to the Giants game yesterday. He’s still cheering. I went to graduation at Cal Poly. My friend’s son finally graduating after 7 years. What is it about the graduation processional? I had to get a Kleenex. I was actually crying. I guess I think back to when Tori graduated and how proud I was..and how excited she was…and I started crying for everyone else….OMG!!! It was cute though. Jeff was in construction management and all of the grads word hard hats instead of caps.

SO lots of partying this weekend, but we did go see the Hangover again. Christina hadn’t seen it yet, but the rest of us had..and we laughed as if it were the first time. That movie is raunchy ..but oh so funny.  It’s the first R rated movie to make over 100 million dollars in ten days…And what’s shocked the movie studio is that women like the movie as much as men. They never expected it to be a date movie. It truly is a R movie though, so if those bother you….don’t go…you will be offended… Me though…I could even see it again…

Studio 94 isn’t that far off…..June 26th. We’ve got invites all this week during Too Early to Think a little after 6:30. We also have Yanni tickets this week …and if you listen to the KBAY Daily Dish a little before 8:10…you may be first in line for the Great America tickets this week.

Just looked at the calendar. Summer officially begins next Sunday…Fathers Day…
And it better start feeling like summer by then…What’s with this cloudy weather?
Just seems wrong…as Sam and I always say. I’m getting out of town anyway…
Going down to San Luis Obispo…Christina has her last final today….and tomorrow my  friend’s son..Jeff Charron is graduating from Cal Poly…!!!! Yeah…. Now I’ll speak for his Mom and Dad…we’re proud of you…now go get a job!!!!! (ha ha)
Famous last words of every parent…..

Sam’s got some fun planned too….going to the Giants game Sunday….but first things first..
We’ve got a show to do again tomorrow 11-4.

Ever been on the Giant Dipper at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk? Turns 85 this weekend…It’s one of the worlds oldest wooden coasters…and scares the “bejeebies” out of me…I’ve only been on it twice…..and the last time I was so scared…I scared everyone else with me….I think I passed out….or something like that.

The guy who created it wanted to make it a “combination earthquake, balloon ascension and aeroplane drop”....not to mention a ride that scares the “bejeebies” out of you…

Is bejeebies a word…or did I just make that up?

Are we all set for the big switch to digital TV…Now….what will the local TV stations talk about? I see Sunday night on Million Dollar password….Chelsea Handler is one of the celebrity guests….so if you’re wondering who we were talking about all week…now’s your chance to see what she looks like. June 27th is her comedy show at the Mountain Winery. She is really making the rounds right now..She’s got her show on the E network..and a few weeks ago was at HP Pavilion. The Mountain Winery will be a much better place to see her though….

Who isn’t great to see at the Mountain Winery? We’re all set for Mountain Winery Monday. Listen at 7:40…as we’ll have the winning times for your free tickets to see Heart…Yep…we’ve got a whole summer season of Mountain Winery Mondays ahead of us…Starting Monday, we will also start giving out invites for the big Studio 94 Dance Party at the Hotel Valencia. You can win those during “Too Early to Think”.

This just in….Sam is at home with ice on his butt..and icy-hot on his foot…watching “Back to the Future”. That’s the life isn’t it? Well..except for the ice on the butt part.
The poor guy has had a lot of achy-breaky pain lately…so hopefully a day of rest with ice on his butt will help…

And I know if he were here today, he would be the first to show you the terrible mug shot of convicted murderer Phil Spector…But I don’t have the guts to..so Google Spector mug shot….so you can see this on your own. It’s unbelievable. The prison that is now his home for the rest of his life won’t let him wear his wig….so he’s without  and looking pretty scary...

Gotta ask…did you get one of those prize “thank you cards” that California Pizza Kitchen gave away last month? They’re all sealed up…but each one has a prize..
$50k, 25K , trips…free dinners..free frozen pizzas…or 10-50 percent off your next meal.
So I’ve turned in 3 of them now…each one has been the same 10% off. Not that I mind getting ten percent off at one of my favorite quick eats…but I’ve got to wonder……..

Maybe I should start eating in more (ha ha)… On this day way back when…Ben Franklin invented the stove..and everyone says I have one… I apparently don’t know what it looks like though….

Kept my promise…I did not watch I’m a Celebrity ...get me out of here last nite..
But I hear NBC is so worried about the ratings (that weren’t so good to begin with) now that Heidi and Spencer are gone…they’re trying to get him at least to come back. Guess they don’t care about her. He’s got a 100 page contract though…so it could take them a few days to read through it…and by then the show will be over..I think it ends next Thursday.

You know what ends this Saturday night?…..Dine Downtown San Jose. …so those great deals at 25 restaurants are almost over…

Ever go hot-air ballooning?. When we used to live in Morgan Hill…I loved looking out our window on weekends..because every so often.....I would see hot air balloons in the direction of San Martin….and it was so cool….like I was in the Napa Valley. Well..this weekend…near Santa Rosa…the Energizer Bunny Hot “Hare Balloon will be floating…This is supposed to be the worlds tallest hot air balloon…15 feet taller than the Statue of Liberty”. And I’m thinking if Pixar could have gotten its hands on it…the movie UP would have never ended….That house would still be floating...and we’d all be loving every minute of it….

Yeah....you definitely need to see that movie if you haven’t already.!!!!
Sam and Lissa's Blog 6/10
So whose game for a “Real Housewives of San Jose”….although I can’t imagine how anyone here can be like those ladies from New Jersey…I watch that show with
Glee!!!!They are so amusing. There’s Teresa who pays for everything in cash…no matter if it’s hundreds of thousands. She tried on a million dollar necklace in last nights show and thought about buying it…What she did buy were “buubies”…Do all east coast people talk like that? Just listen to the Sam and Lissa show..you’ll know they’re called “boobies”. I’ve watched all the Housewife shows…I stopped watching the one from Atlanta…but never missed an episode from Orange County..and New York..but I think these gals…except for Danielle…are my favorites..

And you know what else I love?…Mc Donald’s…but Zagat restaurant guide says when it comes to best Burger..it’s definitely In-N-Out. Sam likes them too..but gets scared off by the long drive through line. I told him..it looks longer than it takes. You really want to wait..stand in line inside..that does take forever…!!!
So here’s the rest of the Zagat fast food survey…. See if you agree…

Best French fries…McDonalds (of course)
Best Salads. Panera Bread…(wait… shouldn’t their category be best bread?)
Best Fried Chicken…KFC…. A listener said they’ve now got the best grilled chicken..
But that went to Chick-Fil-A…and I don’t even think we have those here.
Best Value Menu: McDonalds (of course)
Best Coffee: Starbucks
Best MilkShake: Ben and Jerry’s
Best Quick Refreshment Chain: Ben and Jerry’s
Best Large fast food chain: In-N-Out
Best Mega fast food chain: Wendy’s

I think we need a recount on that last one!!!

And this may surprise you… U-S News and World Report out with it’s list of best places to live in 2009…based on the local economy…cost of living and how much fun stuff there is to do.. We’ve got just one in California…I understand the economy and high prices make it tough to live in California..but there’s just one place with a lot of fun stuff?

And what one California city is that? San Luis Obispo… they’ve got a pretty good college too!! Ha ha…(I have one grad from there..and one current student—so I’m bias)
But also on the list….Albuquerque, New Mexico…Auburn, Alabama…Boise, Idaho..Durham, North Carolina… La Cross, Wisconsin….Loveland, Colorado…St. Augustine, Florida..and Upper St Clair, Pennsylvania. Sam and I think we need a recount on this too!!!!

Hope you got your KBAY connection newsletter via e mail this morning.
We’re getting so excited about Studio 94…the big KBAY dance party the last Friday of this month…You need to try and get on the VIP guest list..It’s such a great time!!!
If you still don’t know how to get the newsletter..It’s easy..just make the KBAY Connection at KBAY.com.

Yeah...they’re finally gone….and now I can be gone too!!!
Heidi and Spencer…Speidi ….last night …after many false alarms….finally left “I’m a  Celebrity…get me out of here”….and poor NBC is figuring out what to do next….Maybe that’s why they’re pre-empted tonite!! Ha ha…With those two gone….there’s really no one to watch. Janice Dickinson is too scary to watch…Sanjaya is creepy…and if you ask me so is Steven Baldwin. Lou Diamond Phillips is almost too normal….so there’s not to much to care about….. same thing with the basketball player…whatever his name is. Sam even watched it for a few minutes last nite….and I think that was his last time.

Sam had a great time golfing yesterday at the annual Catholic Charities tournament. He stuck around too…. as he was the M-C. I was at home making phone calls again for Presentation. Yep…the two of us rarely say no to volunteering. Found 3 great tips this morning that  make volunteering pretty easy…

  1. Find a cause close to your heart.
  2. Make volunteering a family affair…..hey, why not. The kids are home during the summer. There’s a website called VolunteerMatch.org that can find worthy causes in your area that are great for the whole family to be a part of.
  3. Find a cause that doesn’t require commitment, If you’re short on time, or you have an ever changing schedule…..try volunteering for one- day events a few times this summer….Check out Serve.gov…which lets you search volunteer programs by keyword and zip code.

Have fun!!!!

Speaking of fun…..We’re returning to Studio 94 this summer…It’s KBAY’s  biggest dance party of the year…at the Hotel Valencia in Santana Row. We’ll even have a live band this year…playing songs from the mid 70s and 80s…Get the details by making the KBAY Connection…

And if you go to our concert page….(I think it’s actually 6 pages long)…we’ve got all the shows for the summer….and tomorrow (Wednesday) is when LiveNation.Com is waiving their ticket service fee for the 24 hours….for the shows at the Mountain Winery , Shoreline Amphitheater and the Sleep Train Pavilion. …The 10 dollars you save … I think it’s  ten dollars…you could put into your gas tank….to get to the show. I just can’t get over how high gas prices are going again. I’ve got to get the middle grade....the 89..and  I’m already paying over $3…

Have you gone to Facebook ?…Facebook. Com…Sam(Van Zandt) has an account…so do I (Lissa Kreisler) Come on ..be our friends. I just got some family pictures posted….Tori…My two cats…hey..they’re family….and hopefully tonite when I’m home I can get Christina’s picture up…Can’t have one daughter without the other you know…

Where do the weekends go, we ask? I know where ours went.
Saturday, Sam and I helped kick off the Kidney Walk in downtown San Jose, and then
Sunday we ate dinner with KBAY listeners. It was so much fun. It was a progressive dinner, where we had appetizers at Hawgs, the entrée at Morton’s and dessert at the Arcadia in the Marriot Hotel.  It was part of the promotion that goes through this week called Dine Downtown…where a bunch of restaurants downtown are offering fixed price 3 course meals for $20, $30 or $40. I’m thinking though after you take advantage of these great prices and pick your favorites, you and your friends make it a Progressive Night. Why not…go someplace for drinks and appetizers…..then the entrée and then finish the night off with dessert and coffee.. It’s summertime…..and eventually the weather will be warm at night (ha ha) and you can make it a nice long progressive evening downtown.

My weekend was even fuller. Friday night, Victoria called me about 11-30 and wanted me to meet her and her co workers at this neighborhood (dive) bar for drinks…and I don’t know what I was thinking….. but I did…I got out of my pj’s…got dressed….fixed the make up and stayed with them till 1. I had fun too!!! And then Saturday night Tori and I went to see The Hangover. I am still laughing…I was laughing so much I snorted…at least 4 times…so that’s Sam’s new ratings system for comedies. How many “snorts” does it get? And again I give it 4 snorts out of 4. Very creative movie too…You’ll see what I’m talking about when the movies almost over.  So as cute as “Up” is…The Hangover is
as “funny”…(and do I love Bradley Cooper)

As much as I don’t want to, I might have to watch “I’m a Celebrity….get me out of here” I don’t know who’s lying and who’s telling the truth about the Heidi-Spencer
“torture”. Maybe Speidi and NBC are actually working together on this…to boost ratings…because I can’t believe anyone is still watching the show.

Sam will probably be too tired to watch anything tonite. He’s got the big Catholic Charities golf tournament today…All I can say is “FORE”. Is that how you spell that?

Next big event for KBAY..the last Friday of this month…the 26th… Studio 94 at the Hotel Valencia in Santana Row. We’ve got all the details online…This year, we’re going to have a live band….and again great dance music from the 70s into the 80s… Make the KBAY Connection….get your name on the VIP guest list.

Here’s something Sam and I stumbled across..and perfect for the summer…and even a weekend. Never try to make a hotel reservation in the morning. The best time of day to make a reservation by phone they say is right after 6 pm. This is when hotels wipe out all the no show reservations that were unsecured with a credit card. They then offer those rooms at bargain rates…. Is that really true? Let us know.

Think I have travel on the brain after seeing “Up” yesterday. What a wonderful, sweet movie…and to think I wasn’t even interested in seeing it. But because of all the listener phone calls on Monday…I went yesterday to a matinee that still cost $8.75…and I paid $5 for a small bag of popcorn that I swear was really the size of a “Junior” but did I have the best time. The story was so sweet…although a bit scary for the under 3 set…at least according to all the crying kids I heard…but if you’re a softy like I am…and Sam you will get tears in your eyes many times…I was crying so much at the end I had to stay in the theater an extra couple of minutes..which was fine because Pixar was so cute with the credits. Please go see it..you will love it….It has such a great message!!!!!

Did you get your donut Friday morning?..It was National Donut Day which sounds like something Sam and I would make up..but not this time…There really is such a day…and it’s always the first Friday in June.. Got started way back when…… The Salvation Army in Chicago was trying to make money by selling donuts. Sam used to come in to work occasionally with a donut from 7-Eleven… but as much as I love them..I rarely eat them…because when I do I feel so darn guilty….like OMG..I’ve eaten a ton of calories in 4 bites. I know I am silly…..

But… just in case you are wondering…
Plain donuts   165 calories
Chocolate coated donuts …198 calories
Crème filled donuts….307 calories.. (make that a chocolate covered donut and you’re really talking trouble)
Jelly donuts…289 calories
Old fashioned donuts…198 calories (I used to get these..thinking they were less)
Sugar donuts… 192 calories
Wheat glazed donuts…162 calories…(yeah..I’ve never heard of these either)

Anyway..splurge. go have a donut….This day comes but once a year!!!!

Busy weekend for Sam and me….the kidney walk tomorrow downtown at City Plaza..
Our show from 11-4….and then Sunday, we get to host a progressive dinner downtown
With a bunch of listeners…3 different restaurants..all great food..appetizers..then the entrée and then dessert.I’ve done these in neighborhoods..especially new neighborhoods. Its always a great way to meet people..but I’ve never gone from restaurant to restaurant. You may want to try and make your own progressive dinner….
And do it downtown..we’ve got so many great restaurants within walking distance.
We’ve got a bunch of them listed under Dine-Downtown San Jose…
Start your menu planning now!!!!!!

We might be able to get you started next week as we have more $50 gift cards
from downtown restaurants to give away!!!!

Sam and Lissa's Blog 6/4
Talk about depressing….Here’s how long you need to exercise to burn off really good tasting junk food.  You ready?

A Dunkin Donuts chocolate frosted donut….. (remember..these don’t seem to have as much grease as donut places) 230 calories…..you need to walk for 59 minutes.

A McDonald’s Egg McMuffin…….300 calories….you need to run for 22 minutes.

A Chocolate Chip Cookie from Panera Bread….440 calories!!!!! ..you need to bike for 62 minutes (ouch)

A slice of Pizza Hut Cheese Pizza (no pepperoni) 320 calories… you need to swim for 39 minutes.

A Cinnamon Roll from Starbucks….500 calories (OMG) you need to dance for 85 minutes…. With Mark Ballas!!!!

A Burger King Whopper with cheese….770 calories….you need to swim for 94 minutes.

A Brownie from Au Bon Pain….380 calories…you need to do YOGA for 129 minutes.

A large fries from Wendy’s….540 calories….you need to bike for 77 minutes…..and if you combine that with your Whopper…you need to also do 94 minutes of swimming which means you will need two different outfits.!!!

A Taco Bell Beef Burrito Supreme…410 calories….and you need to dance for 70 minutes…with Derick Hough!!!!

A Haagen-Dazs Vanilla Ice Cream Cone….270 calories…and you need to run for 29 minutes..

So I’m thinking for breakfast  switch from the Egg McMuffin to a donut…
And then for lunch…do the Burrito Supreme and the Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream ..although that will still  leave nothing for dinner…but lettuce and carrot sticks..

I told you…..DEPRESSING!!!!

Wasn’t home last nite to see I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of here..and that’s one show I’m to embarrassed to put on my DVR. (I wouldn’t want Comcast to get the wrong idea about me!!!) ….but I’ve got to watch tonite to see if they let Heidi and Spencer back on.
What did she say last nite? That Satan made them leave the show….OMG…and Spencer said he was praying to Jesus to let NBC give them a second chance. I’m guessing this is all been planned out ahead of time..to keep people watching….because there’s no one who would watch this show if those two weren’t on….

There is just nothing on TV right now…other than Real Housewives of New Jersey….although Army Wives starts Sunday and then in a couple of weeks…America’s got Talent.

Just ask Sam…You know what he watched the other day?  Andy Griffith-Mayberry RFD marathon…oh….Aunt Bee!!!!!!

Sounds like yesterday’s City-Bites in downtown San Jose was great. Make plans to come downtown this weekend…and enjoy one of the many fixed price menus..What a deal…3 course meals for as little as $20….others are $30 and $40..and there are a bunch of great restaurants to choose from. We’ve got them listed online under Dine-Downtown. Let us know what you eat.
Sam and Lissa's Blog 6/03
So who is he? Who is the most handsome man in the world?
Vanity Fair wants to know and they’ve given you the list to choose from.

David Beckham    Johnny Depp   George Clooney     Brad Pitt
Robert Pattinson   Javier Bardem Gael Garcia Berrnal (I don’t know who he is either)
Tom Brady   Daniel Craig   Leonardo DiCaprio  Jakob Dylan (Bob’s son)
Nacho Figueras (Argentine polo player) James Franco    Jon Hamm
Hugh Jackman    Taylor Kitsch (Fri.Nite Lites) Clive Owen and
Denzel Washington….

And let’s add SAM VAN ZANDT… He’s better looking than most of these guys if you ask me. Our trick is to get Vanity Fair to put him on the list. They say they don’t listen to the Sam and Lissa show!!! Ha Ha

Now they’ve gone and done it….I thought I was done watching
I’m a celebrity..get me out of here…because the only 2 players worth watching…Heidi and Spencer had left the island. Guess it wasn’t true. They say they’re begging to stay on the show..and will make a surprise appearance tonite. I guess NBC also knows they’re the only ones we want to see on that dang Island..

Whatever you watch or don’t watch….turn on NBC at 9. It’s the second part of the “day at the White House with President Obama”. I loved it last night. It was so interesting to see what a work day was like there hour by hour. And what a kick when Obama said “I want to make a burger run and took down everyone’s order and had the limo take him to a burger joint..and then returned with two huge shopping bags of burgers and fries. You could see the grease coming through the bags. Also the part when he’s walking down the hall and sees the First Lady with their dog Bo and stops to give her a quick kiss.

Had a great call from Kevin this morning. We were talking about date night….and how few couples actually take them….A USA Today survey says just 4 percent go out on a date night once a week or more often. Most say its closer to 2 or 3 even 7 months before they do. Kevin though and his wife of ten years goes out on a date Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. The grandparents help with Thursday nite. He says it’s made his marriage great.  Something to think about!!!
By the way, if you ever want to call us in the morning..the number is 1 800 948-5229 (KBAY)

It’s always a fun topic….what was the worst job you ever had?
Mine was when I was 18…worked retail..at a very affordable (cheap) women’s clothing store in Eastridge Mall in San Jose.
And since I was the shortest one at the check out counter..it was my job to
kneel down and smell the armpits of whatever someone was returning…to make sure it hadn’t been worn…and yes…if it was pants I hate to admit it..I had to do the other end too.
Sam’s worst job….an iron thrower in a wrecking yard…  I think sometimes he must feel he’s back in a wrecking yard after he gets through with me in the morning…LOL!!!!

Dennis called this morning. He worked at a laundry a long time ago. Not only was it 120 degrees in the shop…the clothes came out at 140 degrees..and he said they had a lot of restaurant business…and the places wouldn’t even shake out their linens. They just clumped it all together..and he’d have to shake out crumbs and old yucky food.

Keith called too…said when he was 13 he shoveled sheep “waste”.

And what about the stars…. which is how this whole topic started…Mick Jagger sold ice cream as a teen..and then worked as a porter at a mental hospital. Beyonce swept up hair in Mom’s beauty salon. Ozzy Osbourne worked in a slaughterhouse. (makes sense) Matthew McConaughey in Australia shoveled chicken manure. Gwen Stefani mopped floors at Dairy Queen. Rod Stewart was a grave digger. Brad Pitt wore a chicken suit to advertise for El Pollo restaurant. Chubby Checkers plucked chickens. Tom Cruise was a paperboy. Ed Mc Mahon (and this is perfect) was a carnival barker and bingo caller and then sold vegetable slicers on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City…

I still can’t get over that show last nite I’m a Celebrity…Get Me out of Here. I think on Facebook this morning Veronica was right when she said rename it….”I’m a Celebrity…and they’re leaving me here….” It has got to be the worst show I’ve ever seen and for some sick reason I watched all two hours of it. The 11 stars are so substandard. The only two that kept it going were Heidi and Spencer and they’ll be gone soon. Janice Dickinson gave new meaning to “supermodel”. She has had more face work than Joan Rivers…and looks downright scary…. Stephen Baldwin is as annoying as he was on Celebrity Apprentice..and other than Patti Blagojevich who said her former Illinois Governor husband is totally innocent…I couldn’t give you the names of anyone else. Oh yes..there’s Sanjaya of American Idol who they have the nerve to label a “pop star”.
And even more nerve..NBC is running this show Monday-Thursday for the next three weeks!!!!!

Where is Big Brother when you need it?….come on CBS… hurry up with that summer show….

You may have already seen it..but before this week is out I’ve got to see Pixar’s UP.
Wherever I go people are talking about it….my BFF Janette said it was the sweetest movie she had seen in a very long time…It’s true she cries at everything…..but this time
It seems like everyone was crying…So I’m grabbing my Kleenex and going…I’ll probably cry so much I’ll end up with soggy popcorn…

Still chuckling over what happened this weekend at the Presentation High School graduation on Saturday. I’m guessing you can so relate to this. I had a pretty good seat. They put the Board of Trustees right in front by the stage. I sat next to Lon Normandin and his wife Peggy…yes of Normandin Chrysler Jeep on Capital Expressway. Lon is a school Trustee as well..and I so adore him. His granddaughter happened to be graduating so when it was time for her row to stand up to  walk to the stage his wife Peggy tells  him to take pictures of her….And he’s hurriedly shooting away …so when they’re out of our sight…I ask to see the pictures…and we’re looking and looking…and he says to me..who is this girl? OOPS  wrong row….. false alarm!!!!.  So he hits the delete button…He got it right the next row….But as Sam said this morning….thank goodness for digital cameras. Remember the old days?…with regular cameras…you never knew until you picked up the pictures and spent a fortune...if you had any good ones…or even the right ones. How many times have you looked at a picture you took.. and asked ...Who is this?

Was so bummed out this weekend. I had taped Jay Leno’s final show. I’m not really a fan…I’d much rather watch David Letterman but when I watched, my DVR had stopped at the hour mark..and he wasn’t done. I thought just Fox with American Idol went over their scheduled time. I didn’t know all the networks allowed it. Used to be when the hour was up..you were done….well no more!! Oh well..I wasn’t a fan anyway…..

And even more depressing was the fact that Scottish star Susan Boyle came in second in
“Britain’s Got Talent” And it wasn’t even that little boy who beat her out, but some dance troupe. We worked that poor woman into such a tizzy she basically had a breakdown yesterday. They had to check her into a “rehab” clinic. Hope she doesn’t disappear…that she gets her big recording offers…..

Sam and I can’t wait until this Sunday..This Progressive dinner downtown is going to be so yummy….Appetizers at Hawgs, Entrée at Mortons, and dessert at Arcadia…and all within walking distance of each other….I think we get to take five couples. So make sure you’ve entered to win on the home page.

A weekend already……Love these four day work weeks…
To be honest with you…I love working period….!!!!
And of course, Sam and I are on every Saturday anyway from 11-4.
John Tesh does mornings now. I think he may be the smartest man in radio. He’s got all sorts of interesting tidbits on his Saturday show.

Heard from two cute high school grads this morning. Mitchell from Branham…He’s hoping someone gives him concert tickets as a gift so he can have fun before he begins his “4 grueling years in college”. Lets hope he finishes in 4 years. How many know a kid who’s on the six year plan…Gotta love it… And Gabriella called. She’s graduating from Archbishop Mitty tomorrow. She’s on her way to college in Oregon.. She said she was hoping for a laptop….Sam said make sure it’s waterproof (wet Oregon)

I’ll be at Presentation High School’s Graduation…. I know…..I know…my girls are long gone. I’m actually on the Board of Trustees…..but tomorrow I’ll be cheering on my friend’s daughter Katie Wilson…Congrats to her and all graduates… As Dr. Seuss says “Oh, the places you’ll go”…

And speaking of going….If you could visit any country in the world and money wasn’t an object which country would it be? This was the question in a worldwide survey..and you know what number one was? Not the U-S. We came in tenth…but Canada.
Maybe all those TV ads promoting the Olympics are working!!! Actually, I’m going there in June. My brother lives on Salt Spring Island so I will visit him for a couple of days..and then I will spend a couple of days in the city named after my daughter “Victoria”. I’m actually very excited. I’m staying at the Fairmont Empress where they have the famous high tea…. Couldn’t believe the rate either. Cheaper than any nice hotel here…Finally, I’m traveling to another country at a time when our Dollar is worth something.

Getting back to the list…2nd place to visit worldwide…Italy…then Australia…Switzerland and France. Where’s Greece I ask?

And the five countries people least want to visit… Iran..Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Estonia and Lithuania.

Favorite places to dine in downtown San Jose…Gee. I love Mortons…the Grill…Original Joes…Il Fornaio.. …and the list goes on and on…Sam and I are still looking for couples to join us for a progressive dinner next Sunday. It’s part of the big Dine Downtown promotion. We’ll start at Hawgs which has wonderful seafood. We’ll get appetizers there…..then walk to Mortons for our entrée....and then to Arcadia in the Marriot for dessert.
Make sure you make the KBAY Connection and get your name in.  It’s going to be so much fun.

Gotta have a burger. Today is National Hamburger Day.
And if there’s one thing Sam and I can agree on…..is there’s nothing like a good burger…It’s heaven!!!! And we’re apparently not alone…You had some great burger bar suggestions this morning…
Joanne loves St John’s Bar and Grill in Sunnyvale but says for lunch you’ve got to get there by 11:15 or you’re stuck in line. Liz loves Black Bear Diner. She mentioned Monterey but there’s also one in Gilroy where my girlfriend Janette goes to a lot…Liz says their sourdough burger, with grilled onions is full of fat…and so so tasty. Cheryl and Renee both mentioned Running Rooster in Hollister. The garlic fries are great. Hollister must have some great burger places because Jan mentioned Johnny’s Bar and Grill which she says will cook them for you…just the way you want them. But she adds Medium-rare is the only way to eat a burger. I’ve got to agree with that ….

As for Sliders….because that’s what I like..I eat two and take the third home….(less calories I tell myself) She recommends Cheap Seats. Back to regular burgers now… Dennis said drive to Daly City and go to Westlake Joe’s. Sam agreed. Gene loves Kirk’s Steakburgers. Joe picked Hickory Pit. Not many of those left. There’s one in Campbell and I think he said Milpitas. Edward picked Red Robins and Anne said the Counter in Santana Row. ..which happens to be one of the few restaurants there that doesn’t have an hour wait or more. I’ve always been able to walk right in. And yes..there’s Vals in Hayward…there’s always Vals.

But what about Vals in Alviso. Have you ever eaten there? I haven’t in about 20 years. Marie called in and wanted to know if they were still open..and Carol e-mailed Yes…and they still serve soup at lunch and a relish plate at dinner.

For fine dining..go to downtown San Jose. They’re doing this big promotion the next couple of weeks. You’ll be able to get some great meals at affordable prices. We’ve got the details on the front page. An even better deal will be to dine with me and Sam Sunday June7th. We’re hosting a progressive dinner for five couples….so make sure you try to win…. It will be so much food..I mean fun…!!!!!!

Oh please…did this really make a difference in the American Idol finale?
It’s been revealed that finale night in Arkansas…Kris Allen’s home state…
ATand T provided a bunch of free cell phones…free text messages and a lesson on how to vote quickly and often at two viewing parties for Allen’s fans….but that they didn’t do the same for Adam Lambert. So yes, it may have given Kris a few more votes, but did you notice Ryan Seacrest in announcing the winner never once said it was a close vote so you have to assume it wasn’t. Still, ATandT has some “explaining to do”.

Time to move on to other scandals….like Jon and Kate. How about that….tabloid fodder was great for the ratings of their season premiere Monday night. A record ten million watched. We’ll see what happens next week…I guess it will depend on how much tabloid coverage they get the next few days.

Did you hear about the latest study on “texting”…that it’s going to leave teenagers with serious hand problems…stuff like carpal tunnel syndrome…Makes sense…
They say the average teen texts 75 times a day…or close to 2300 a month. One mom called this morning…after her daughters grades started to suffer..she switched carriers to ATand T (before they were giving Kris Allen fans free cell phones) because they limit when you can text to certain times of the day… Great idea huh!!! The funny call came from Melissa who is up there in years..and just learned to text..and quickly got addicted. She went over her texting by 600 calls…and she was texting just one girlfriend..(also up there in age) Her phone bill was crazy. Too bad phone companies don’t do what Sam suggested..and sent you a text that you’ve gone over your limit. Hmmmm…wonder why they don’t…..(ha ha)

Coming to a store near you…..Ben and Jerry’s Goodbye Yellow Brickle Road…
Chocolate ice cream..peanut butter cookie dough..butter brickle and white chocolate chunks. Good thing I don’t like peanut butter cookie dough!!!!!

Wal Mart this Saturday is having a free ice cream social at its superstores.
You think their press release is right..that America’s favorite ice cream is vanilla…
They say for popularity it outnumbers chocolate 3-1.  But I ask how many times in an ice cream parlor…do you see someone ordering vanilla?

Forget the ice cream…we’ve got something even better. Sunday June 7th, Sam and I are hosting a progressive dinner in downtown San Jose… appetizers at one restaurant..then dinner at another..and then dessert at third place.. Want to come? Five couples will be joining us. You might as well be one of them..Make the KBAY Connection…
I’m already hungry!!!!

Love three day weekends..because that means it’s a four day work week…
And we’ve got another one in July …yeah.
Although Sam and I plan to be in Morgan Hill on July 4th for the annual parade.
Not sure we’ve been formally invited yet, but we’re showing up anyway…..

Love summertime….and I don’t even have kids in school anymore. But I spend so much time at Presentation High School I feel like I do sometimes. I’ve had my last Board of Trustees meeting until August, there’s just one final Parent Board event and them I’m off!!!!!!!  Sam does a lot of golfing over the summer..and I do a lot of walking. A girlfriend and I are trying to meet at least twice a week to walk the Los Gatos Trail.
I don’t seem to be losing weight from it though….in fact…I think I’m gaining which I don’t like. And I hate when people say you’re gaining muscle. I’m a scale person, and I would rather see less on the scale. I guess it didn’t help that Tori and I went out for frozen yogurt last nite…LOL

Sam by the way is still looking for a golfer for the Catholic Charities Tournament June 8th. Go to the Sam and Lissa page and scroll down….you’ll get the details. We’ve also got a progressive dinner in downtown San Jose on June 7th…that we’d love for you to be a part of.. It’s going to be so much fun….We’re going to three restaurants downtown..one for appetizers…..one for dinner...one for dessert. Check it out on the contest page.

Went to the Mushroom Mardi Gras festival in Morgan Hill….and bought a sham-wow..or whatever it’s called. This one had a different name than the one advertised on TV. Only bought one because it was 2 for 20..and my friends Janette and Tom took the other one. Bet I never use it!!! It’s so weird because you have to get it wet to sop things up….How crazy is that. They say to use it instead of paper towels…which is what I use instead of napkins. Is there anything, by the way, that we use anymore for its original purpose? ha ha…

Until tomorrow…..
P.S Real Housewives of New Jersey tonite . This may be the best of all the Housewife series…I love it…Can’t wait to see what happens with Danielle….

Anyone tempted to watch American Idol again last nite? I was…
That’s how great I thought the show was. They’re making such a big deal
About ratings being down…that just under 29 million people watched. Big deal, ratings were down for all of the season finales , plus the season as a whole and find a show on right now that gets anywhere close to 29 million people. Next to Idol, the most watched show is Dancing with the Stars and that one gets just 14 million viewers. So Poo on the critics..trying to make a negative out of everything!!!!

We had quite a singer on Friday morning….12 year old Leah Kolchinsky from Castillero
Middle School in San Jose. She’s in a national singing contest and has made it to the top ten. You’ve got to listen to her. It’s only 30 seconds long and she apologized for being under the weather, but Sam and I could hear nothing but perfection. Go to the Sam and Lissa page. We made a podcast of her. And then go vote for her..so she wins..
www.buildabear.com/lovehugspeace/contest.aspx. The winner gets ten thousand dollars and a recording contract. I’m not sure how it all works. But it’s also a fundraiser for Save the Children so I think you can also make a $1 donation.

I had such a great time at graduation yesterday for the Master Gardener Training Program. Gardening is something I have no expertise in..like cooking, but I was so impressed with the intensive program they all went through and how they will each donate 100 hours to the community planting gardens and teaching how to be eco-friendly and grow sustainable gardens. Had to laugh when my friend Shari asked me to go get a “trowel” to give to the teacher..and I said a what? That’s when I found out a trowel is a mini shovel!!!! They gave me a plant as a thank you…Lets see how long that lives!!!

Sam’s got a graduation tomorrow in Placerville..for his niece Lesley who is graduating high school and going to San Francisco State University….A proud Uncle he is!!!!

Hope you have a great long weekend. I’m actually going to Gilroy for the weekend..I know…..not a long drive. I’m spending the weekend with my friend Janette and her husband…Were going to go wine tasting…shopping..we’ll leave him home for that and I think Sunday we’ll go to the Mushroom Mardi Gras festival…and I don’t even like mushrooms…but it’s a lot of fun and this year it won’t be too hot.

Have you entered to win the Family Fly-Away trips to Disneyland..Jona will give away the first one early next week?….and also next Friday we’ve got a special e-mail called the KBAY Summer Concert Connection and you won’t want to miss that.

I don’t know about you…but I’m worn out from last night’s American Idol. It was the best show ever…Loved it!!! And yes, I loved the outcome. I wouldn’t have been upset if Adam Lambert would have won. Everyone would have been excited on stage and it would have been a feel good moment, but I was thrilled that Kris Allen won. He has so grown on me!!!!! Not much personality..but so dang cute. Still think Adam will be the bigger money maker….because I think Kris Allen is like so many other pop stars..and has a very boring personality…but did I say he’s darn cute!!!!

Why did Adam lose? I think he was darn freaky…too freaky for the majority of American Idol listeners. Anyway.. we get a break until January..and I think we can all use one. I’ll concentrate on the Real Housewives of New Jersey now!!!!

Gotta share this…because it’s so funny, and I think most of us ladies have done this..
My daughter Tori who is an accountant at one of the big four firms..and very conservative in her personality and dress calls me this morning ..on her way to work in a panic. She had a dress on and forgot to shave her legs!!! I’m not sure if she stopped to get a razor or not. I told her to keep one in her car for the future. Haven’t we all done this…put a pair of shorts or skirt on..and forgot to shave our legs.
LOL..

Be sure you’re listening at 7:10 tomorrow morning. We’ll have a San Jose girl on..just 12 years old..who is in a national singing contest..and she will knock your socks off…Sam and I were so blown away by her…

Also one last chance tomorrow to hear the Sesame Street theme song for tickets to their upcoming show here. The gal who won was taking her college daughter…

You know that Sam and I emcee a lot of community events..but this is a first for me..I’m handling the Master Gardener Graduation today. It’s a very cool program…would-be gardeners getting a degree in eco-friendly landscaping and sustainable gardens., plus a lot of them take what they learn into schools and neighborhoods.
Al Gore would be so proud of me!!!!!

How sad…no more Gilles on the dance floor. I could watch him forever...
I truly thought he should have won Dancing with the Stars, but Shawn’s adorable and she was great too. I guess I should have been voting, if the vote was as close as they said it was last night. And poor Melissa….she’s now been a “loser” on national TV twice!!!!

The good news about Gilles is that he’s supposed to have a role on Brothers and Sisters in the fall, and for several episodes. I’m hoping he has a hot and steamy relationship with Sarah. He really is a doll and I love his humility. He seems to be such the family guy.

You know about American Idol, right? At least you do if you watched last nite. Two hours won’t be enough. They already know the season finale will run long, so if you’re taping it, give yourself an extra fifteen minutes..maybe even longer or you’ll miss the crowning of Kris or Adam. I think that is so weird that a network show doesn’t follow a clock…that it can run as long as it wants to. I’m sure the folks at Channel 2 can’t wait for the season to be over. Yes, you couldn’t ask for a better lead in show, but twice a week they get their news time cut by a few minutes…and really without any advance warning. Must drive the producers crazy. I don’t care who wins. Adam is definitely the more talented of the two, but you can’t go wrong with Kris and his style is much more to my liking. I look at Adam sometimes and say “what the heck is he thinking”. A listener called this morning and she was so cute…she said Adam scares her!!!!

What show were we all watching 16 years ago tonite?  The final episode of Cheers. 80 million watched!!!!

Scam alert……phony job listings have been showing up on Craigslist in order to lure in desperate job seekers. Once on board, the scammer claims they need a social security number and bank to process paychecks Identity fraud comes next.  He or she I guess has been getting tips from the Nigerian Prince we all seem to hear from on  e-mails.

This was my favorite tidbit from the morning….the study that people tell two to three lies every ten minutes..and that it’s rare for anyone not to tell at least one lie a day. May not be a bad thing…as researchers say people who deceive themselves also tend to be happier than people who do not. There are social payoffs too….that people who lie frequently are viewed as friendlier and more amiable than their more truthful counterparts. NO LIE!!!!

Sam and I this week opened up facebook accounts through the station….
And it has caused some complications….for me at least. We’ll talk tomorrow morning!!!!!!
Sam and Lissa's Blog 5/19
Are you as excited as I am about tonite? American Idol at 8 and then Dancing with the Stars at 9. Hope you can make it to 11. I know I can’t.. One of the three couples….will get voted off in the first hour and then the second hour, the two finalists will have their final dance for the judges. I’ll be shocked if Gilles isn’t in the finals… As for Shawn or Melissa..I don’t know who will out-dance the other. All three are great!!!

And who knows what will happen with Idol? Now that Danny is gone Kris could get all of his votes and shock the heck out of Adam Lambert fans. Lambert is truly the better singer , but as we know it’s not just about singing!!!!
Can’t wait to hear from you tomorrow morning!!!!!!!!

Actually, I can’t watch either show on time tonite. It is Senior Dinner night at Presentation High School, and believe it or not I’m in charge of the kitchen. How ironic is that? It’s a great night though. All the seniors and their families….their parents, their siblings, their grandparents, eat dinner together  and then there is a slide show of their 4 years of high school in pictures. While I help prepare the dinner for 700, I don’t have to do clean up…so I’ll run home and fast forward through the DVR. I watched last nights Dancing in 15 minutes or less.

Did you hear the debate this morning on being called Grandma and Grandpa? A lot of baby boomers think the names make them sound old, and they want nothing to do with them. We got some great calls from listeners who go by all sorts of different names, usually involved with their culture or what was a family tradition, but sure enough one or two said they didn’t like grandma because it made them feel old. Now … our resident Gramps Sam goes by Grandpa and doesn’t mind one bit although he does like the name “Granddude”. Will be a long time before I have any grandkids, but I will very happily be called Grandma!!!!

Tomorrow at 7:40, we’ll have the final winner for the Fleetwood Mac concert. If you signed up to win through the KBAY Connection listen for your name. These are First Row tickets!!!

And if you’ve already signed up to win the Disneyland trips…tell a friend or relative to make the KBAY Connection as well. Maybe, if they win, they’ll take you. Each trip includes airfare for 4….3 day park hopper passes and a 2 night stay at a Disneyland Resort hotel.

Found a new term for you in Time Magazine. “Credit Munch”.
It’s a term to explain any weight gain you’ve had since the recession hit and you’ve taken to comfort food. Stress over the economy has led millions of Americans to put on weight as they try to eat their way to relaxation. SO now you’ve got a name for it…..”credit munch”.

You know what I’ve gotten hooked on? walking. I made a point of doing it when I was trying to lose a few pounds. I would take Daisy (Tori’s dog) for a walk every day. 1.3 miles we walked. I clocked it one day. I got into my car and drove the route and came up with 1.3 miles… I was actually shocked, as it seemed a lot further….LOL

But then walking became hiking. I don’t do this more than maybe once a month, but
On Saturday…before the heat really set in, I walked a total 4 miles in the Santa Clara County Park “Quicksilver” in the Almaden Hills. If you’re familiar with it, I made it to the top where the Rotary Furnace is, and then hiked back down. I actually did it by myself. I was supposed to meet some friends from a Presentation Alumni Mom group I’m in, but I was the only one who showed, and after driving 6 miles up windy Hicks Road, I wasn’t about to turn around. And then Sunday morning, I got up early and my friend and I walked the Los Gatos Creek Trail. We actually walked a little longer than planned…on the return trip we couldn’t find which spot we started from…and where our car was parked…but at last!!!!

And see you and Sam thought I only walked around the mall!!!!
Sam’s weekend was a little more relaxing and refreshing. He and his wife-Carol- went to Carmel and Saturday spent the afternoon on the beach watching a surfing competition.
Unexpected fun..he said!!!

Can’t wait to see the final hour of Desperate Housewives. All I know is
One housewife is pregnant, one housewife gets married, one doesn’t get divorced and evil Dave I think finally leaves the show. He was so darn creepy!!!!

Still can’t get over the Grey’s finale. I had to watch the last five minutes twice and
couldn’t stop thinking about it. Was a terrific job on the story line and editing…but what a tearjerker!!!!

Tonite the final competition for Dancing with the Stars. The winner (I hope Gilles) will get the disco ball tomorrow nite, after American Idol has its  final sing off between Kris and Adam. You can watch them both tomorrow nite because Idol is one hour at 8 and while Dancing is two, the winner will be announced in the second hour. Thank you ABC!!!! I don’t know about you…but I’m ready for both shows to be over.

Great give-aways this week…Sesame Street Live tickets. Listen for the theme song sounder and then call. We still have rows 3,2,1 to give away for Fleetwood Mac’s Thursday night concert. For Too Early to Think….Curious George tickets and a pancake breakfast, and this is the first week to make the KBAY Connection for a Family FlyAway to Disneyland. I get excited just thinking about it!!!
Sam and Lissa's 5/15
If you missed it this morning..here's the new word...which probably fits most of us to a "tee".
"Weisure time"...and what is "weisure time"? It's a combination of work and leisure and it's for all of you who use your IPhones, Blackberrys and other forms of technology to stay in touch with business colleagues..while spending time with family and friends. If you're watching your kids play soccer, and you reach for the blackberry...you're in the middle of "weisure time".

So if you're going to the A la Cart and Art festival in Mt. View this weekend, or maybe the Boogie on the Bayoo in Campbell or the neighborhood pool with the kids....leave the  "weisure" stuff at home.

I hope if your kids have a soccer game tomorrow, its the one in the morning ..early in the morning...as it's going to be HOT this weekend... And three things on the sunscreen...make sure it's not expired. The dates on the back,  make sure you put enough on..and reapply. Dermatologists say it's not the super high SPF number that's important. ...it's whether or not you've put enough on..and remember to put more on later.

Boy did we hear stories Friday morning about the expert drivers we have at KBAY...you people can change your clothes while you drive, do crossword puzzles, put on your make up..and curl your eyelashes...and even change seats. Didnt get anyone though who could eat a bowl of cereal with milk..which is what a guy did near Boston ...right before he was arrested for weaving back and forth in traffic..and tailgating.

My daughter Tori called to say shes got the "changing clothes while driving" down to a science..but only on city streets..
SHe says you do a little at a time during each stop. Made me feel so happy to hear how good she is at this!!!!  LOL

You've heard all the stuff about Cheerios this week....Leave it to Sam..to come up with Top Cheerio Fun Facts..
The only word you can spell with them is OOOOOOOO
They can be found in the seams of every car seat
String them into a necklace and you too can look like Jeff Probst
and They don't  make you cheery at all!!!!

Haven't had a chance to watch Greys Anatomy yet...We'll compare notes Monday. I guess they made it so it can be the final show for Izzie and George..or NOT!!!!
Got to watch it before Sunday night's 2 hour finale of Desperate...

And you've got to make the KBAY Connection this weekeend.,...It's your last chance to try and win the Fleetwood Mac tickets for next Thursdays concert...You can win seats in the 5,4,3,2,1st rows...and starting Monday, at 7:40
we'll start naming the winners..and hopefully one will be yours!!!!!!

What fun…taking the show this morning to Mt.View. Sort of reminded me of the Friends TV show, when they would gather at the coffee shop sit on the big comfortable furniture and friends would keep stopping by. That’s how it was inside the Starbucks on Castro between the El Camino and Evelyn. It’s the urban-style Starbucks that is on the bottom floor of a condominium complex. You see more and more developments like this now..... retail on the bottom and housing on top. And we had one of those great corners by the window with the 2 big cushiony chairs and a coffee table.
And then reality set in, when we drove back to the station In downtown San Jose..and got stuck in traffic on 280.
May be fewer jobs out there, but you couldn’t tell by this mornings commute at 8:45.

Mt View has the big Ala Carte and Art festival this weekend…..the first big festival of the weekend…and the weather will be perfect….nice and warm. Dave from the Chamber of Commerce stopped by and said Forbes Magazine has Mt. View listed as the 4th most liveable city . Home to some big name companies too….like Google..and as my daughter Tori reminded me….KPMG…which is where she works…and I might add…she’s half way now to getting the CPA title for her accounting career. She just passed the second of her 4 tests....which I guess means she has a C and-half the P…LOL!!!

So the boss says you had it right last nite on American Idol if you wanted Adam Lambert and Kris Allen to be in the finals. He thinks Danny Gokey is really no different than Taylor Hicks…and we know how far he’s gotten with the A-I title. I disagree…but he may have a point that Kris Allen is the one we’re more likely to play on KBAY. And if Adam wins, I don’t think we’ll ever here him on the Sam and Lissa morning show.

I can’t believe how bad I felt when Danny got voted off…..although I’m over it already!!!! See I can separate “reality” from TV. Oh…..wait a second American Idol is reality.

If you’ve got kids in college, you can relate to this…..”the whole I cant find a place to live that Mom can afford ”.  Christina has been trying to find a house to rent down in San Luis Obispo. She’s been in an apartment…and secretly keeping her dog..the pitbull-whippet…behind closed doors. No one wants dogs..and I mean no one…but at last…they found a place..a house with a backyard….and the owner is willing to allow a dog (for a $300 deposit)……so Diesel will be able to come out of hiding now. Yeah!!!!!!!

Did this week go by fast or what….
Tomorrow, we’ll give you another chance to sing for Fleetwood Mac tickets…
Everyone seems to want these. It’s been so many years now…four I think..since they’ve gone on tour…Be ready to go at 7:40.

Also have another chance to have fun at Great America!!!!

Sam and Lissa's Blog 5/13
So who is it going to be tonite.....Kris Allen? Someone’s got to get voted off American Idol. But they keep saying if anyone can be the upset winner, it’s him. All three… Adam, Danny and Kris were so good last nite, but I really think Kris is the one to go. He’s not as polished yet as the other two. He’s either too shy..or lacking of that “star personality”, but he is so darn cute..and can he ever sing. As much as I want Danny to win, I figure it will be Adam, but rock isn’t my thing, and when he’s not singing a ballad or something “soft” Adam quite simply gives me a headache!!!!

Haven’t had the chance yet to watch all of the Biggest Loser Finale. I watched about an hour of it last nite. I couldn’t believe Jerry..and how much weight he had lost. I think he was the first to be sent home. I didn’t even recognize him. Plus, he did the weight loss on his own. He didn’t get the personal care from living at the big ranch. And yeah for Helen…She lost half of her weight and is down to 117 pounds. I hope she keeps it off. She has worked so hard and she looks so great!!!!!

Dancing with the Stars has gone exactly as planned….Gilles, Melissa and Shawn.
I think Gilles is the best, and that Shawn will beat out Melissa for runner-up.
Got an e-mail from Veronika this morning. She takes dance lessons at Cheryl Burke’s school in Mt.View. Starlight Cheryl Burke Dance it’s called and June 5th, she says Cheryl and Gilles will be there for the grand opening. It’s a charity event although I don’t know what the charity is, but the tickets are $149. You can get more information on sure at their website….www.starlitedanceclub.com

Speaking of Mt. View…that’s where we will be tomorrow morning. Sam and I will be doing our show from the Starbucks at Castro and El Camino. Stop by….it’s always a good time. Get there early enough at 6:30…we’ll have you play Too Early to Think.
We’ll also pick someone to sing for the Fleetwood Mac tickets we’ve been giving away all week.

Not sure if you’ve had a chance to read your KBAY Connection Newsletter yet.
We’re giving away trips to Disneyland again!!!!
Sam and Lissa's Blog 5/12

Start planning your week now..it's going to get warmer and warmer...YEAH!!!!
80s Thursday or so and then 90s over the weekend. Time to get in the habit again of wearing sunscreen.
The folks at Morphosis are always happy when I remind you of that...LOL.

But seriously, take a look at the sunscreen you have at home. See if any of it has expired. I needed some over the weekend when Tori and I went down to San Luis Obispo and most of the stuff I had in the bathroom had expired. And that's one thing you dont want to go past the expiration date. I have some face make-up from Benefit..I thought it was foundation...but the gal told me it was actually just a tinted moisturizer, but it was way past the expiration date and she said that's not good... that the ingredients meant to protect my skin were no longer any good. Makes sense!!!!!

If you're looking for a movie to buy this week...Taken is out on DVD. Liam  Neeson is a former spy trying to rescue his daughter from sex trafficking kidnappers. It is so good!!!!! You are on the edge of your seat. Although since I saw it in the theaters, Liams wife ...actress Natasha Richardson has died, and just watching it again would make me sad. I loved Brokeback Mountain, but haven't been able to watch it since Heath Ledger died. Sam tells me over and over again that I have trouble seperating reality from make-believe.... .

Speaking of reality....Hope you have a DVR or TIVO. Too much good stuff on TV tonite.....the series finale of Biggest Loser--Couples....Dancing with the Stars....(Ty has got to go) American Idol ( will be Adam's night again)  the reunion for Real Housewives from New York City and the start of Real Housewives of New Jersey. OMG!!!!

Today was National Limerick Day...so if you missed Sam's:

A big politician named Biden
Was real good at readin' and writin'
But when he opened his mouth
Crazy statements came out
Sending White House Press people in hidin'!!

There was a young actor from France
Named Gilles who just wanted to dance
He teamed up with a cutie,
Now he's shakin' his booty
So well, no one else has a chance!

 A champion cowboy named Ty
Thought he's give ballroom dancing a try
He tried to look bullish
Ended up looking foolish
And tonite we'll be waving "buh-bye"!!

A lovely young lady named Lissa
Went down to the mall for some pizza
When she got there she said
"Let's go shopping instead!"
And proceeded to meltdown her VISA!!

Tomorrow..already Wednesday. Week's going by fast.... At 7:40, you'll have the chance again for Fleetwood Mac tickets.
We've got another fun day for you at Great America. It's newsletter day, and then on Thursday, we're doing our show from Mt.View...the Starbucks at Castro and El Camino. Come on by!!!!

Loved what happened on TV last nite. The brother-sister team…Tami and Victor from Amazing Race won the million dollars and on Celebrity Apprentice…Joan Rivers won!!!!!Yipee….I so did not like poker star Annie Duke. In fact, I didn’t really care for Joan either, but I got new respect for her by watching her on Apprentice. She is one nice lady….very genuine if you ask me, plus at age 75 I hope I can work as hard as she still does. I even got used to looking at her face!!! I’m thinking though that since I picked the winners from these two shows, I’ll be totally out of luck with American Idol., and maybe Dancing with the Stars as well.

This might come in handy…We were talking about “Eat Whatever You Want day”
And Darrel called to say he wanted the cheesecake that’s been in his refrigerator for over a week. Turns out his wife’s been in the hospital and they were saving it until she comes home which is tomorrow. I asked if it was still good?  It’s been 10 days. Sam said there’s probably so many preservatives, it’s okay. Christina e- mailed me a website that tells you when it’s good or not…..it’s called   http://stilltasty.com/.

Hope Mothers Day was great. Mine was perfect. For a full 24 hours, I had Christina and Tori all to myself. We had such a great time in San Luis Obispo. Can’t believe all we did…We shopped, we sat at the pool, we went to the Cliff Hotel in Shell Beach for a drink and appetizers and got to see a gorgeous wedding on the beach, then went out to dinner , and had breakfast at IHOP!!!!!Doesn’t get any better than that…LOL.

Oh yes it does….Tiffany called this morning. Her brother who has been IRAQ surprised her Mom. They were at Grandmas…came home and there was Anthony!!!! Can you imagine? Good thing, they never changed the front door lock. Tiffany said they were so stunned; they just stood there until Anthony finally said…Are you going to hug me?
He’s home for just a week….Gives you goosebumps, doesn’t it?

When you named your babies, did you go with what was popular or a name that was unique? I always wonder about that. The most popular baby names for last year were announced this morning. For boys..and in this order..it was Jacob, Michael, Ethan, Joshua and Daniel. For the girls, it was Emma, Isabella, Emily, Madison and Ava. So do you want a name for your child that 6 others in his or her class will have, or something that is unique or at least not as common, so your child can stand out in the crowd?

Have great give aways this week..Fleetwood Mac and Great America tickets.
Plus, this Thursday, we’re doing our show from Mt View….at the Starbucks on Castro at El Camino. Thursday happens to be Bike to Work day, so ride on over!!!!!

Sam and I were right…and so was Art Linkletter…”Kids say the darndest things”.
We let kids call in Friday morning..to say why their Moms were so great.
Hannah in her little tiny sweet voice said “She loves me and I Love her.”
Lucy said over and over again her Mom was awesome…and then when Sam asked if awesome was her favorite word, she said “no…her favorite word is toboggan”.

But William was the absolute best…He called to talk about his Mom Dawn and how she helps him with his math homework…and then we asked if he was doing anything special Sunday he said “I hope she’s not listening….we’re giving her a surprise party”.
A few minutes later, Williams Dad calls puts Dawn on the phone..and yes she heard!!!!
But she played along like all good Moms do…and said she heard nothing about a surprise. Just too much fun!!!!!!!

I’ve got to admit…I’m so excited for this Mothers Day…not for any gifts..but just the fact that I get to spend the weekend with both my daughters…Tori and Christina. With Christina away at Cal Poly, and Tori working long hours at one of the big 4 accounting firms and studying on weekends for her CPA tests, the three of us rarely get together….
But we will this weekend!!!!!And I plan to love every minute of it. TLC we call ourselves…Tori, Lissa, Christina….

Hope you have a wonderful Mothers Day too…But I know, for some it’s an awful weekend. My Mom’s been gone for 19 years now…and to this day, at about 5 pm, I still want to reach for the phone and call her like I used to. If that’s you too, use some of your Sunday to remember the good memories…

You know who Oprah has on Monday? Susan Boyle from Britain’s Got Talent. For some reason, she couldn’t get her to fly to Chicago. The interview will be via satelite, from her home in Scotland. The episode is called the Worlds Got Talent..and yes Simon Cowell will be on with Oprah…

We’ve got a great show Monday morning…tickets to Great America and Fleetwood Mac…plus you will have our permission to eat whatever you want on Monday…
Because that’s exactly what the day is called. SO between now and then....think about what you want to splurge on…I’m thinking either a Big Mac or Pizza. If I know Sam…he’s thinking some big burger….topped off with Ben and Jerry’s.

With Moms Day on Sunday….have to share the 10 questions everyone should ask their Mother…I still haven’t figured out who decided these are the ten questions…
But here they are:
  1. What’s the one thing you would have done different as a Mom?
  2. Why did you choose to be with my father? (careful answering that one)
  3. In what ways do you think I’m like you? And unlike you?
  4. Which of us kids was your favorite….(again..careful!!!!)
  5. Is there anything you’ve always wanted to tell me, but never have?
  6. Do you think it’s easier or harder to be a parent now, compared to when you were raising our family?
  7. Is there anything you regret not having asked your parents?
  8. What’s the best thing I can do for you right now?
  9. Is there anything you wish had been different between us…..or anything you’d still like to change?
  10. When did you realize you weren’t a kid anymore?

Speaking of kids..Sam and I are hoping we can get some to call tomorrow morning to talk about their Moms..maybe you…..because after all “Kids Say the Darndest Things” We also have one last massage to give away ..for 2…from Massage Envy.

And yes..at 7:40 we will have the last two tickets of the week for American Idol Live Tour. Both t these prizes this week have jammed the phone lines. The tickets go on sale Saturday morning at 10 at Ticketmaster.com. I think this year’s top ten will put on the best show of them all…as they have been the most talented.
Wasn’t that something that Allison went last nite. I thought for sure Kris would go since he was clearly outmatched and out sung on Rock night. But I think he’s more likeable than Allison, and boy did I get things going this morning by saying Adam to me was getting cockier by the week. I know he’s the most talented and it will be shocking if he doesn’t win in 2 weeks, but he’s got a certain arrogance that bugs me. I know you need it…but I think some of his “thank yous” and acts of humility are a bit staged.

Are you an Army Wives fan? Love that show and it’s finally coming back on June 7th on Lifetime. Remember, it’s been a summertime series the last 3 seasons. I really enjoy it. Sam laughed this morning when I said it was the number one cable show for women 18-49. …but it is!!!!!

Dancing with the Stars…Julianne Hough has already announced she wont be back next season.… and now her brother Derek and Mark Ballas who dances with Shawn Johnson have hinted they may leave too. Wonder if Derek would have stayed if he and Lil’ Kim won this season? Not sure though, as the two are best friends and they have a band together that seems to be doing well.

All I Know for sure is that in another couple of weeks all the big network shows will be over for summer….and but for the Rea; Housewives of New Jersey and Army Wives, I’m not sure what we’ll want to watch…LOL

Nothing says Mothers Day like Bed Bugs!!!!
I was reading a story early this morning about bed bugs….and that the infestations are so bad this year, the government held their first ever national bed bug summit. And they’re not turning up in just the seedy hotels….a Sheraton in Suburban Chicago had them last week…

So now all I can think about is my trip this weekend down to San Luis Obispo to see Christina. I’ve already got the hives just thinking about the hotel. So now instead of just staying off the bedspread I’ve got to inspect the sheets…and it’s hard to see these little buggers……their flattened bodies let them hide in cracks and crevices…Rachel e-mailed and said that’s why she brings her own blanket from home…and she sleeps on top of that. And while you’re inspecting the sheets she said….. look at the glasses too…But I know all about that….I’ve seen the videos too of even the best hotels just rinsing the glasses..instead of washing them out…

On second thought, I’ll just stay home..and have Christina come here….LOL!!!

How is Ty Murray still on Dancing with the Stars? I can’t understand it. He should have gone the first couple of weeks. There’s no way though he can compete with the other three…Gilles, Melissa and Shawn.

It seems obvious that Kris Allen should go tonite on American Idol but you never know. I wouldn’t be shocked to see Danny in the bottom two. Rock just isn’t their thing. But I will be shocked if Adam doesn’t win the whole thing. I’m still a big Danny fan.. but Adam can sing anything and amazingly so. I’m not sure if he wins though that we will ever play any of his music….because I’m guessing he’ll go rock…hard rock.!!!!

You heard the latest on Paula? In the new Ladies Home Journal, she admits that she recently struggled with an addiction to prescription pain killers and that she checked herself into rehab last November. So basically that interview she gave on Nightline a few weeks ago had a few holes in it. She still insists she’s never been drunk on the show…or under the influence but does admit the combination of the drugs did occasionally cause her to “get weird.” I still don’t believe her…but in her defense….she has undergone a lot of pain….and serious injury. She had a black injury while cheerleading when she was 17. Then she broke a leg rehearsing a dance number in 91. In 92 she had a bad car crash and hurt her neck…and in 93..she was in a plane crash that left her partially paralyzed and has required 15 spinal surgeries….so who could blame her if she drinks!!!!

If you haven’t checked your e- mail today…..It’s Wednesday…so look for your KBAY Connection newsletter. And tomorrow morning….Idol Live tickets at 7:40 and a massage to win for you and your Mom.

So is it Carnitas or Fajitas..or maybe even Pizza? Can’t stop laughing from this morning when we got to talking about Cinco De Mayo. Kathy called from the Cupertino Union School District and said bus drivers, starting at 9:30 would sit down to quite a spread…
Sometimes we can’t hear listeners that well and get confused, so other listeners started calling trying to set us straight. Well, it turns out she did say Carnitas and then we had to find out what that was..and now we know….pulled pork or beef.

Cinco de Mayo is a funny celebration. It’s bigger here than in Mexico. You know why…
Beer companies got involved back in the 80s and figured they could make a lot of money from this big day…and gee…they were right. But if you ask me..its tequila not beer that stands for Cinco De Mayo. Aside from the Margarita, there are hundreds of mixed drinks from tequila and usually a fruit juice. But don’t count beer companies totally out. They found their way into the Baja Frog which is made with tequila, beer and garnished with lime.

If you’ve got school age kids, I hope you knew today was National Teacher Day. Got a great call from Susan. Way back when, Mrs. Mayne was her music teacher and the quote she never forgot was “ When you reach for a high note, look up and reach over it”.
What a great line.

My daughter Christina is going to be a school teacher and I’m so excited for her because she will be one terrific teacher. She wants to teach 3rd grade, but will be fabulous whatever she gets. If you knew her, you’d agree. She’s got this magical sweetness and genuine caring and kids just gravitate to her. She’s so cute..she’s already saving things for her classroom. We’ve got our first box in the garage.

Sam this morning remembered something cool from the weekend. He was at the Giants game and got picked to do a quick line on the Jumbotron…something about him being a winner by having a Visa-Giants card. He really didn’t have the credit card, but for doing the line, he got 3 gift cards for food at the park…..so see he was a winner…and better yet..the gift cards came with zero percent interest!!!!! LOL

No doubt about it..Ty Murray will be kicked off Dancing tonite. He’ll be in the bottom two with Lil Kim and then she’ll go next week.

Idol tonite will be interesting. Rock night. Wonder how both Danny and Kris will do.?
Tomorrow morning…Idol Live tickets at 7:40 and also in the morning massages for you and Mom from Massage Envy.

Can you believe it..tomorrow marks the half way point of Spring.
And whats in the forecast  ....slight chance of showers!!!!
Thursday things will start to get nice and warm..just in time for Mothers Day weekend. You didn't forget did you?

So now we know..Michelle Obama..our First Lady wears $540 tennis shoes. I guess they're called sneakers when they cost this much. They're from some French designer. Ellen likes to wear them. Michelle's have metallic pink toe caps and gray suede designer kicks and she wore them to a food bank for some volunteer work. BIG DEAL!!!!! You'd think it was earth-shattering  if you listened to critics who felt she should have gone to volunteer in a sack cloth. And someone else ..the Fox News style consultant.....also knocked her for pairing the expensive shoes with a cheaper and mistmatched gold argyle sweater from J.Crew.
Just stop it already!!!!!!

And while you're at it..would you quit dinging the doors on my car? I know it's not you....but it's so frustrating. I found 2 more good sized door dings this weekend. All of a sudden..my car is getting all beat up. Yours too? I know the parking lot spaces are smaller these days, but I usually don't park in a spot if it looks like I will get dinged. I'm wondering if its somehow linked to the bad economy....we're all  in such a state of mind, we're not thinking about common courtesies...

Top reasons why your horse didn't win the Kentucky Derby Saturday (courtesy of Sam)

Your  jockey? Ruben Studdard
It was made by GM
There was a Kenyan guy in the race this year.
Instead of horseshoes, he was wearing CROCS.

Something I really had nothing to do with, but was certainly proud to be a part of....the Saturday night Spring Lamb BBQ and Bocce Tournament at Campo di Bocce in Los Gatos..to benefit the Ronald McDonald house.
I show up for all the fun..and to emcee when a good chunk of the money has already been raised. And for this event...it was well over 100 thousand dollars. Over the 7 years now , this group has raised over half a million dollars to help the families of the children who are facing difficult and sometimes life threatening illnesses. Next time you drive by the Ronald McDonald House on your way to Stanford Shopping Center, think about the families staying there so they can be close to
the Lucille Packard Childrens Hospital.  1000 or so different families call the House home every year. and are charged just ten dollars a night to stay. And that's why the Spring Lamb BBQ is held every year..to keep those costs low..In fact...80 percent of the operating budget at the House is covered by donations from people and foundations.

You've got a chance to give this Saturday. Its the annual letter carriers "Stop the Hunger " campaign. Put a bag of non-perishable groceries next to your mail box..

Tomorrow morning..the first ticket give aways for the American Idol Live Concert July 12th at HP Pavillion at San Jose. Good luck!!! And get ready for a morning fiesta with Sam and Lissa!!!!!   OLE!!!!

So will you let your kids eat dessert first?Special night for that according to our almanac.. We actually had two Moms call who always let their kids eat dessert first..if they want to.And I think since they get to, they dont really ask to do it that often. I wish my Mom would have figured that out!!!!
It's funny because if you want to eat dessert before your burger or whatever you do..but when the kids ask .it's ARE YOU KIDDING!!!!!

So what does May hold?. We should have some flowers because we had April showers...that have actually extended into May....but its also Better Sleep Month, if you listen to the mattress companies. It's BBQ Month..Egg Month, Hamburger Month, Bike Month, Moving Month( heck with the economy, every month has been moving month) Salsa Month, Salad Month (that's Sam's favorite) Mental  Health Month, Older Americans Month ( Sam's second favorite) Self Discovery Month, Stroke Awareness Month and now my favorite ...Revise Your Work Schedule Month!!!  Actually Sam and I did that last month when our Saturday show  moved to 11-4.

Such a great time Thursday night at the annual Girl Scouts Volunteer Recognition Dinner... You want to find a room full of "doers" this is the place. So many committed women...and some men too..who are dedicated to helping girls build courage, confidence and character...and that they do. Some of the women we honored no longer have daughters in Girl Scouts and still lead troops. I'n honored that the Girl Scouts think enough of me to ask me back every year!!!!

Moving on...to another favorite event ....the Spring Lamb BBQ this weekend at Camp di Bocce in Los Gatos. Another annual event to raise money for the Ronald McDonald house in Palo Alto...the place you drive by every time you go to the Stanford Shopping Center and shed a tear as you do for the young kids you know are in there getting the medical and emotional support they need to hopefully have a long life.

Every weekend turns into a busy one now that Sam and I are on the air from 11-4 on Saturdays. Somehow, Sam's going to squeeze in a Giants game this weekend...and entertain his mother in law...He's such a good son in lawto his wife-Carol's- mother!!!!!!!

Bored already? How long has twitter been a really big thing? I know it's been around for a while..but really only the last 2 months or so have people been "a twitter"..but I'm afraid this online craze is already losing it's "tweet". Between 60 and 70 percent of new users quit after a month. Plus..and how can this be...Oprah's last tweet was five days ago..
Oh well......

We're down to 4 now on American Idol. Matt's gone..which was no surprise..but what was a surprise is that Adam who everyone has already given the title too...was in the bottom two. And on top of that..the Judges didn't even make a big deal
about it...so what was up with that!!!! Just way too much stuff on the show last nite..and boy the season Taylor Hicks won must have been terrible...because looking and listening to him last nite made me wonder why he ever became an American Idol!!!

Can you make it through National Honesty Day without a lie?  We asked for an honest husband this morning and Jim called. He's been married to Cecilia for 6 years and when I asked him...what he answers when she asks "Does this make me look fat". He said he tells her the truth...yes..if it does. Couldn't believe it.....half the men surveyed say that she looks great no matter what...but 40 percent are like Jim and say the truth. The other 10 percent dodge the question...lol

And how honest are you with your hairdresser? I think  I even got myself in trouble on this one...admitting that over the years there have been times when I left Drew and thought...maybe it's time for a change. I even got my best friend Janette in trouble this morning...saying on the air that everytime I see her after a hair appt. she tells me she has to go home to wash and restyle her hair...How was I supposed to know she had a hair appt. today?...When I see her tomorrow, she''ll probably be bald..and the hairdresser will say "oops..the clippers slipped"..

Can you believe it....the last day of April?. For schools..all the year events are coming...providing the Swine Flu doesn't complicate things. We had our big BBQ last nite f or incoming freshman at Presentation.. I don't know how this always happens, but I get put in charge of the kitchen...Me...Explain that one...but somehow we get the potato salad, green salad, and garlic bread for 650 people into the gym at the right time. Cookies too. And  yes..we do serve them BBQ..the guys are in charge of that...at the parking lot grill!!!

Tonite...another favorite event..and maybe you'll be at this one. It's the annual Volunteer Recognition dinner for the Girl Scouts. Been emceeing this for years.. It is so much fun..and it is so great to see how much time is given to these fabulous girls. Marion Mandel will be one of the many honorees. She has been a registered Girl Scout for 70 years...70 years  WOW!!!!

Tomorrow May Day...and permission for you to do one particular thing first instead of last. Sam does it alot but without permission. You'll love it...It's very sweet!!!!
Sam and Lissa's Blog 4/29
So Sam returned this morning with his tighty-whities on. Alot of guys are wearing tighty-whities these days. Sales are up 35 percent...and in part because they're cheaper than boxers and  other fancy briefs...but also because they make you feel good in these tough times...they make  you feel more "secure" wearing them...and most of our fathers wore them.

They're becoming a "necessity"...which led to a whole study on necessities..household necessities...and people are rethinking what they absolutely have to have.  52 percent still say a TV is a necessity...but only a third think they need a dishwaster. 47 percent say you've got to have a microwave and 2 in three think a dryer is a necessity.
So what have we learned from all of this....when times are tough...not everyone needs a dishwaster or a dryer..but they do need snuggly underwear.... lol...

Here's the best animal story  you'll read today....its from Michigan. A woman and her husband are at a flea market with their 6 pound Chihuahua...which by the way is named Tinker Bell..and a wind gust of 70 MPH blows away the dog....
She was nowhere to be found.....so the couple hired a psychic who found Tinker Bell..a mile away . Can you imagine being that little dog..and getting blown away like that....and flying for a mile. Better yet, can you  imagine a Chihuahua having a name other than Tinker Bell or Daisy....maybe Brutus or Diesel!!!!

OMG...What was with Melissa last night on Dancing with the Stars. It's true she got put into the bottom two, but it was Chuck Wicks  who got the boot....yet she was doing all the crying...She must have thought she was getting dumped all over again...Give here a Rose and a Kleenix.

Sam and I are guessing Matt will be voted off American Idol tonite, although Simon made it clear last nite he thinks Allison should go...but she was definitely not the worst singer. It was my favorite nite of Idol..Love the Standards and I have a new fondness for Jamie Foxx. Unlike most mentors he actually had some helpful advice and seemed to show them how to get emotion into their song. But getting back to Allison. She is still my least favorite, but so many of you called this morning to say you like her, to remind me that she is only 17...and her personality hasn't matured...that I will now go easier on her.  One of our callers did equate her to a biker chick, with strange colored hair, but even I thought that was a little harsh...and besides I think my 19 year old...in her last visit to the hairdresser...got the same color...Sam's teenage nephew has a thing for that color too..whatever it is...red-orange.. It looks different every week.

My favorite American Idol story though came from a  Mom who has a daughter in college out of state. The  watch the show at the same time..while on the phone together...so they can share the experience.. I didn't ask what long distance phone plan they have..hopefully, its the cell phone and they have unlimited minutes...!!!!
Sam and Lissa's Blog 4/28
Does this ever make Suze Orman proud.....the poll from Galup that a majority of Americans are officially spending less...and a third don't ever plan to break the new habit..even when times get good again.

And is this ever true.....that if you want to get the most out of your money now, its better to spend $20 on an experience rather than an item. A study from San Francisco State University shows that you'll feel more invigorated by doing things than by purchasing things. When researchers asked people ages 19-50 to recall how they felt after recent purchases, they found that money spent on theater tickets, ski trips, concerts and fine dining brought more pleasure than that spent on designer jeans, diamonds and the  latest cellphone.  Well, I'm not sure about the diamonds...lol

But that's why its so exciting to think about all the great summer concerts...at the Mountain Winery and now Montalvo.
It's an" experience" that makes for lasting happy memories.

This one's good too... A coffee bath!!! No kidding...Bathing in coffee, lets the caffeine get straight into your bloodstream, rejuvenating you immediately. It's proven to boost blood circulation, rushing oxygen to the brain so you can think faster. And no..it won't stain your skin. How much coffee? 4 cups brewed regular coffee per bath. You think Starbucks paid for this study?

Who goes tonite on Dancing with the Stars? Ty Murray, I'm thinking, although he looked good in that spray tan and tight shirt and pants..Danced well too!!! But someones got to go. Dialdol.com thinks it will be either him or Lil Kim.. Not enough votes coming in from her former prison-mates I guess. She's good too..in fact...but for Ty..I think the group that's left is great.....even injured Melissa. Now that we know she fractured her ribs, I don't even know how she did that rehearsal dance.

Idol tonite may be my favorite of the season....Rat Pack Standards....so I think it means songs by just 3...Sinatra, Davis and Martin. Allison could have a real problem...which would be too bad for her because next week is supposed to be Rocker night. May 19th is the finale..so we're almost done.... Still think it will be between Gokey and Lambert.

Sam will be back tomorrow...and with a nice clean pair of titey whities...
No joke....It's the in thing now....We'll tell you why....
It's all about necessities......and right now I think KBAY.Com is one... Great place to win stuff!!!!!
Sam and Lissa's Blog 4/27
Just wrote down the date for this blog...4/27. Another month is about to end. Where has this year gone?
And if you've got kids in school, you must be thinking about summer. Yes...school's almost done for the year. YIKES!!!!

Did you weigh your purse this morning?  A new survey says the average woman's purse weighs 7 pounds.
Mine is 8 and Mary called. Hers weighs 20 pounds. Can you believe that? No wonder we all end up hunched over. Put on a pair of heels and carry that 20 pound purse, and you'll really be in trouble.  So let's compare notes.
Here's what the typical purse has in it:

cell phone
make up
notebook
a book or magazine. Mary had 2 books.
a hairbrush
an Ipod
an umbrella (in the winter)
keys
a wallet
hand cream
painkillers.

Now, in my purse, I have not only a wallet, but a coupon wallet, a checkbook and today, at least, a wallet that has all my gas credit cards or the credit cards I use rarely. I usually keep it in my car, but somehow it ended up in my purse again. Plus, I have a calendar, a regular old fashioned calendar. I'm wondering if I' m the only one who still has one of those.
Plus..I have mints....gum, a lint brush (small one) and now a small hand sanitizer. I threw that one in this weekend, because of all the Swine Flu stories.

Wasn't that something..how quickly the Swine Flu became Story One? Amazing...We all had to become quick learners.
And I think we all started feelling a little sick., which happens when something you don't know alot about starts spreading. But the bottom line is the cases that have been detected have been pretty isolated.
While 103 deaths as of Sunday in Mexico sounded horrible,  they say in America, 36 thousand people die every year from the regular flu. Your chances of getting the Swine flu are not that likley and the government does have plenty of the antiviral drug Tamiflu hand. They say just dont go to work or school if you don't feel well, cover your mouth when you cough and wash your hands regularly.  I can only imagine how many phone calls were made to doctors today and how many prescriptions of Tamiflu were given out.

Did you hear our announcement this morning that beautiful Montalvo in Monte Sereno will be home to summer concerts again this year. What a treat!!!!! KBAY is involved with at least two shows...Jewel and Julio Iglasias. Go back to the home page of KBAY.COM. We've got the entire list. Between the Mountain Winery and Montalvo, this will be one great summer.

I just realized, maybe Ty Murray will be sitting with you at Jewel's concert. She hasn't missed one of his nights on Dancing with the Stars. And I'm thinking after tomorrow nite she won't have to attend anymore. Hubby has got to be the next one to go.

Had some busy weekend. Sam and I did Pat's Run Saturday morning.
Then our show from 11-4. Yes, we're still getting e-mails about our new Saturday hours. Sam then went to Carmel for the weekend and I went to emcee the Humane Society of Silicon Valleys' annual Fur Ball. I can't remember ever having such fun at an event. Everyone was all dressed up and alot of them brought their dogs, large and small and they were all gussied up. I don't know who looked better. And the dogs were so well behaved. Once in a while you'd hear some barking but no one got into a fight and not once did I step in poop!!!

Got something good going on in your Cubicle? Tomorrow is "Cubicle Day". Sam and I are lucky. We still have an old fashioned office. We share it...but all of our Sales people are in Cubicles. Some have them all decked out with pictures, ads and Happy Birthday greetings from months ago.Others have barely anything on the walls.
Get ready to call us tomorrow if yours is a "Cubicle in Paradise".

So now we know....Pigs in a Blanket isn't what IHOP calls sausage in a pancake...
The real Pigs in a Blanket according to Wikipedia is sausage or hot dog wrapped in a doughy something...like a Pillsbury croissant. Other names...Devils on horsebacks, wiener winks, kilted sausages...or in German...Wurstechen im Schlafrock!!!!
Germans also call this "sausage in a dressing gown" Isn't that funny" I like the Israeli term "Moses in the Ark" which is a children's dish consisting of a hot dog rolled ina  ketchup=covered sheet of puff pastry or dough and baked. Sam says he doesn't eat his pigs in a blanket..unless he's got maple syrup!!! I told him to go to IHOP or Denny's.

Important stuff...because the 24th is National Pigs in a Blanket Day.

I think a bigger day will be Monday..when it's National Hairball Awareness Day. I'll have to make sure the Purina One folks are aware of that!!!

Sam and I were talking about old wives tales that aren't true...you know the stuff our parents told us to make us behave. We've all heard this one....If you swallow your gum..it doesn't really stay in your stomach for 7 years. Good thing, because to this day I still swallow my gum. Here are some others:

Sitting too close to the TV will ruin your eyes. Heck, I'd be blind by now.
Swimming after you eat will give you cramps. Not true
Chocolate causes acne. Dermatologists Academy says nope.
Carrots improve your eyesight. Partially true. They help your night vision, but dark leafy greens are actually better.
An apple a Day keeps the Doctor Away.  Well, they're not bad for you, but eating one a day doesn't stop you from getting sick.
You'll get sick if you go out in the cold with wet hair. Nope..Colds are caused by viruses, so it's more important to wash your hands. But not good to go to work with wet hair. They say  if you're not taking the few minutes to dry your hair, ot shows you don't care enough about your job.

Hope to see you at Pat's run Saturday. Sam and I will help get you and the other 6 thousand runners and walkers started.
Leland High the place. If you need to register on the spot, I'd get there at 6. The expo opens at 7. The run starts at 8.
Want more details go to their website at patsrun.com
Will be a long day for me. I'm emceeing the Fur Ball Saturday night at Great Americas Centennial Hall....for the Silicon Valley Humane Society.
And between this and that..Sam and I do our show from 11-4 Saturday. Our hours were changed about a month ago, but it's still weird to be working when it's not dark...

What fun this morning in the Almaden Valley!!!!!
It was great having Alex and Erin out from Pat's Run which is this Saturday at Leland High School, and Pat Tillman's friend Kendra who went to school with him from kindergarten on...She had a great story about him jumping off the roof of a house which he loved to do without warning...anything to get his friends to laugh. He even jumped from the roof to a pool one time. All I can say is "Don't try this at home".

If you haven't registered for the race yet, run out to Leland High School tomorrow or show up early on Saturday.

The Starbucks at Camden and Almaden Expressway is such a fun one....Donna, Jason, Tara and Sheila are so great...Next time you're in, ask them for an" Undertoe". I thought it was a new Starbucks drink...but then found out it was their very own concoction....2 shots of Expresso..then Vanilla and Milk. You're supposed to guzzle it down..because it turns the Hot bitter Expresso into a sweet cool drink. Sam had two. I couldn't even make it through one.

Did you hear the Mc Donald's story?...I love it.....
40 year old Doug Logeais of San Diego ate at Mc Donalds for 30 days straight....breakfast, lunch and dinner...and somehow lost 15 pounds. How?
1. For breakfast...he had a breakfast burrito with sausage and egg.
2.For lunch....either a grilled chicken snack wrap or a side sald.
3.For dinner.. always a large salad.
4. Doug never had fries
5. He exercised several days a week.
The motto of the story ...you can eat McDonalds without supersizing your buns!!!!!!

And then there's Elvis Presley...It was on this day back in 1956 he made his Las Vegas debut. He opened for comedian Shecky Greene and flopped so badly, they cut his engagement from four weeks to two. He didn't return for 13 years and then, only for buffets!!!!  Another rimshot please!!!!!!!

Hey..American Idol went just as I called it last nite..Bye Bye Anoop and Lil Rounds..and boy did they get rid of her quickly. But it was all "nice" between her and Simon..and Anoop ..while disappointed....by now should be on his way back to Chapel Hill.
Next to go..either Matt or Alison.

That's a good deal we have for you on the KBAY Summer Concert Series. Tickets go on sale this Sunday morning, but if you use our password, you can buy your tickets early..today or tomorrow. Make sure you read the top of the homepage.

Happy Earth Day....time to put a flower on your HUMMER ...  lol...
And Happy Admin. Professionals Day. Sam and I said this morning it was so much easier when it was called Secretary's Day. Hope that doesn't offend you.....because we certainly know it's the day set aside for all of those people who take grief from their bosses for 364 days a year. Guess flowers are the most popular gift. Sam's wife- Carol- bought her admin. person a tulip plant. Lunch at a nice restaurant is always good or better yet....a gift card. Someone called this morning said she'd love to get a $25 gift card to Starbucks. That she may have to buy for herself.

We'll be outside the Starbucks tomorrow...in the Almaden Valley...at the corner of Camden and Almaden Expressway..in celebration of Saturdays Pat's Run.
We usually leave at 9, but we're going to stay out there until 10. Come on out if you can. It's always a good t ime. We'll have a sign up for Fleetwod Mac Tickets and we'll also pick someone to sing for Earth, WInd and Fire /Chicago tickets.
You never know what will happen when we do our show on the road..neither do we, which is why it's always so fun to see in person or listen to on the radio.

Hey..when you fly, do you always keep your seat belt on?. I do. I'm never at ease flying anyway, but I can't believe what happened to this Texas woman the other night. The seat belt signs were on, but she had to go to the bathroom, and while in there the plane hit some bad turbulance....which threw her off the toilet..and caused her to slam into the ceiling. She was thrown so violently, broke her neck and is paralyzed from the chest down. Isn't that horrible!!!! But what  can you do, if you have to go to the bathroom.

Lawrence Taylor was cute last nite when he got voted off Dancing with the Stars. What did he say?..it's okay I have a tee time tomorrow at 9:30.
Idol tonite....Dialdol.com says the bottom three for phone calls last nite were Kris Allen, Matt Giraud and Alison Iraheta. You think ? I hope not, because that means Anoop will have another week. Lil hopes its right because Simon sure burst her bubble last nite. He sure doesn't like her, and it's too bad because she has a great voice but it's true, unlike the others, she really hasn't gotten any better the last few weeks. Plus she can't pick a song that any of the judges like. I think unlike most of the other contestants, she is just a voice. She doesn't seem to know how to arrange songs so that they're different from what the original singer did. But never mind all of this...the bigger question is.....how in the heck did she get that black jumpsuit on? I've never seen anything so skin tight.

Sam and I this afternoon, starting at 4:30 will be at Plaza de Cesar Chavez Park for the annual "Walk a Mile In her Shoes"
a great event to highlight sexual assault and hopefully stop it.
So hard to believe that:
1 in 4 girls will be sexually assauted by age 16...
93 percent of juvenile sexual assault victims know their attacker
44% of sexual assault and rape victims are under age 12.
Sam and Lissa's Blog- 4/21
Gone from Dancing with the Stars tonite....(LT) Lawrence Taylor and Edyta...and if not them Ty Murray and the Hightower gal.
I think her name is Chelsea. But once they're gone..it's going to be tough to pick because Chuck, Melissa, Lil Kim,Shawn and Gilles are all great. And lately they're all so close in the scoring.

American Idol has disco tonite..so finally Lil Rounds should do okay...Sam and I think she should sing Gloria Gaynor's I will survive. Although remember since Matt was saved last week, two have to go home this week and Im guessing he'll be one of them along with Anoop. Can't really  picture Anoop singing Disco.

Something else Sam and I agree on..We both think Miss California was "wronged" in not winning Miss USA Sunday night, it it really was because of her answer to the same sex marriage question. I didn't realize you could lose because of your opinion. I thought everyone was allowed an opinion. I thought you lost because of how you articulated yourself, and I didn't hear any stammering. I don't think Perez Hilton who is a professional blogger and celebrity stalker should have that kind of power over anything or anyone.

Okay..lighten up Lissa...

Sam and I can't stop laughing over the top signs your credit card company's abusive:

They charge a hidden fee for asking if there are any hidden fees.
Your travel miles only work on Greyhound.
Your credit limit is 67 cents.
Their on-hold music is the Jonas Brothers.
They just upgraded you from the  Platinum to the Black and Blue card.
It's called Ike Turner Financial.
They itemize your monthly purchases into "Things that Made you Chubby" and "Things that Made you Ugly".
When you ask for relief, they cut your interest rate down to 75%..and tell  you to like it.

Hope you can stop by our show this Thursday morning from 5-10 outside the Starbucks at Almaden and Camden in San Jose.. We always have some surprise give aways..and surprise folks stopping by. We're going to the Almaden Valley to help kick off Saturday's Pat's Run.

Here it is....the secret to trimming belly fat. Eat Blueberries...lots of blueberries!!!
They worked on rats..and even rats that were fed a high fat diet. But after three months, the rats were "berry-happy". They all lost belly fat and lowered their bad cholesterol and triglycerides. But again..you need to eat lots of blueberries ..not just a few.
And the good news is I see blueberries on sale a lot......2 for one at Safeway. Even Lucky's has them on sale a lot. But what I also learned is they don't stay for very long..that after just a couple of days they've already started to get icky!!!!

Saw "17 Again" over the weekend. Loved it...and loved Zac Efron. Never really  cared for him before, especially last week when he looked so stupid on American Idol with his long hair and knit cap on, but this guy can act...and OMG does he have gorgeous eyes. The movie is so cute.  You've got to go see it!!!!

This is always great to hear if you've got kids in college. The annual list of Biggest Party Schools in America. This is the Playboy list. No U-C Santa Barbara this year....but San Diego State University is third and University of Arizona is fifth.
You ask me, every college( But Brigham Young) is a party school. You just hope your kids know how to control themselves. But I do hear that there is alot of partying at San Diego State and  U of Arizona.

Hey, take the new Sam and Lissa Poll. Should American Idol get rid of the 4th Judge?. Over the weekend, there were all sorts of polls on Kara DioGuardi and it's true ...people don't like her. I read an interview with Kara . She's not taking any blame, but does say she didn't realize what a huge thing it was being on A-I, and then it hit her. She says it's not an easy job,,,and that maybe she can  do things better.   The A-I folks say they love her and have no plans to go back to three.
Yeah right!!! We'll see what happens.

How many times have you watched Susan Boyle on You Tube with her surprise opera performance on Britains Got Talent? They were even talking about her on the TV News Sunday morning talk shows. Shes had 66 million hits now..But Saturday night...the show was on again..and another sensation was found..a 12 year old boy. He also stunned Simon Cowell...and there was the same picture of the female judge in the middle holding her hands up to her face...as to say OMG.

We've got more Earth Wind and Fire/Chicago tickets to give away tomorrow....so we'll get someone to sing for them at 7:40. Could be you if you call at 1 800 948-KBAY!!!

This country will never ever be the same. Oprah is twittering..or is the process of twittering called tweetering. Sam and I are so confused.
Couldn't believe the big deal being made over this..The headline was "Oprah is sending her first Tweet" OMG!!!! But Oprah is queen, and when it was revealed she had set up a Twitter account, she immediatly got 50,000 followers, and I don't need to tell you who was number one...BFF Gayle King. What would Gayle do or be without Oprah? Don't even want to think about it. But Ashton Kutcher and Mrs. Kutcher (Demi Moore) were also among the first followers. Ashton is the King of Twitter and you heard about Demi and the woman who turned out to be from San Jose who "twittered" that she was contemplating suicide and Demi "twittered back"...and begged her not to do it. And not only is the woman alive, she is semi famous. She's been on alot of tv shows since her "tweet".

The truth of the matter is Oprah has nothing on us because KBAY started "twittering" a couple of weeks ago.
Try it out Twitter.com/945kbay. (then let Sam and I know what this is all about....we just don't get it)

National Animal Cracker Day this weekend....Love those things. Sam said they taste like those baby cookies..and I ask what's wrong with that. I always stole the girls cookies.Bet you didn't know this...that Nabisco designed the famous "Barnum's Animals circus box with the string on it so you could hang it from a Christmas Tree. 5 cents the first box cost. What are they now..a dollar? There have been 37 different animals...and when Barnum's Animals turned 100..they added the Koala cookie. How could you eat a sweet koala?
They only bake those cookies for 4 minutes...

Don't let this get you down...the top five funeral songs...according to a survey from Britain.
1. My Way
2. WInd Beneath My Wings
3.TIme to Say Goodbye
4.Angels
5.Over the Rainbow.
You never know when this list will come in handy. 2 Songs I wouldn't recommend....Highway to Hell and Another One Bites the Dust.

Fun times Monday morning...Good times too... 7-40 we'll have tickets to Earth,Wind and Fire and Chicago..
Plus we're going back to the future.when we were 17. Would you change anything. Now how did we come up with this idea? LOL

Yes I did...and No he didn't. It was McDonald's 54th anniversary and of course I went there for dinner and had a Bic Mac and Fries. Sam was supposed to go as well, but I knew he wouldn't. Maybe he should have though. His wife-Carol- is out of town and he went to the Sizzler.

The headlines all say "Shocker on American Idol". The Judges used their "save" on Matt.  I wasn't that surprised. Simon made it clear he didn't think Matt deserved it, that there was no way he could win, but the other three judges outnumbered him.
I say whether it was Matt, Anoop or Lil Rounds..someone was going to be saved this week or next, because there are only 2 weeks left to use the save..and I figured they'd want to....because after all...It was Historic!!!!!... lol....

Doesn't matter who gets saved, I'm still going with the oddsmakers that Adam will win and Danny will be the runner-up.
I think this is weird. Every week, I look at the TV ratings and American Idol performance and results show are always numbers one and two and the audience count is almost the same for both nights. Not true for Dancing With The Stars.
The performance show is generally third, behind Idol, but the results show drops way down...and the audience count drops by 4 or 5 million. Is that because you find out the winner online before the show airs, because you can do the same with Idol, or is it because the second night has way too much filler?

Hey...your little girls will love this. Disney starlet Demi Lovato is going on tour, and San Jose is on the schedule.
And her show opener will be American Idol runner-up David Archuleta. The date is July11th at the San Jose State Events Center. Tickets go on sale April 25th....which happens to be the day before LiveNation starts selling tickets for the Mountain Winery Summer concert season. We've got the line up listed on the home page.

With the nicer weather returning, we're about to take our show on the road again, starting next week. Next Thursday's show is the kick- off to the Pat Tillman run, so we'll be in the Almaden Valley at our favorite Starbucks...at Camden and Almaden. See you there between 5 and 9.
Sam and Lissa's Blog - 4/15
I think Sam and I are in agreement on this...We've got to go to McDonald's today....we've got to celebrate anniversary number 54. Sam's been on such a serious diet for months now, that I'm not sure he will cave in..but I will. Big Mac here I come.
Des Plaines Il. home to the very first Mc Donalds. A cheeseburger was 19 cents..,.fries ten cents.
Don't know which one was the first here. Sam thought it was on Fruitvale. I thought the one at Almaden and Curtner.
The one my parents took me to every Saturday night was at Camden and Kooser. And the one I went to with my girls...
usually in search of beenie babies or some other happy meal toy was on every street corner. We hit them all!!!!
Boy..those were the days!!!!!

Wouldnt you love to be in Jim Carreys predicament right now?. He's got to gain 50 pounds for his role as Curly in the upcoming Three Stooges movie....so heck..he could live at Mc Donalds..guilt free!!!!! The only problem with gaining 50 pounds is losing 50 pounds...and he'll have to do that too!!!!

Wasn't American Idol a mess last nite?. Hated the two judge per contestant rule. If you missed it, since the show has been going well over 60 minutes and last week, people missed the Adam Lambert song, they let just two judges critique each singer...so it was a tag team...Randy and Kara and Paula and SImon. Wasn't fair to the singers. Just ask Lil Rounds who got hammered by Simon, or Kris, who got blitzed by Randy. They never had this time problem with 3 Judges. I sure hope they get rid of Kara for next season. She rattles on almost as long as Paula. Better yet, get rid of both of them ..ha ha.
So I'm thinking, it will be Lil and Matt in the bottom two tonite...and that Lil will go. It never helps your cause to argue with Simon.
Dialdol.com which counts phone calls, says Alison , Matt and Kris were the lowest vote getters.

Did you check your e mail? Its Wednesday....KBAY Connection Newsletter Day.
Tomorrow, we'll have Great America tickets at 7:40, we'll look for a husband we can appreciate. Sams wife-Carol-is out of town, so I'm grabbing him, and it's wear your Pajamas to work day. Would you?  Could you?

Dang it...we miss all the good stuff!!!
Lil' Kim nearly had a big wardrobe malfunction last night on Dancing with the Stars.
I guess her top just about fell off after doing the jive with Derek so Tom Bergeron gave her cover while she fixed herself.
And no...you didn't see it. ABC edited out of when the live show was rebroadcast on the West Coast.

Sam and I are guessing Ty Murray..Jewell's cowboy hubby will go home tonite. Dialdol.com says the bottom three vote getters were Ty, Lawrence Taylor and Chuck Wicks. They've been right almost every week. We'll see if they are tonite.
And if they are right, that means Steve-O is safe again. (yippee)

I was hoping the other Steve ..Steve Woniak..would show up next Saturday night for the Fur Ball at Great America to benefit the Silicon Valley Humane Society..but I got an e- mail this morning that he's going to be out of town...He apparently didn't care that "a secret admirer" A.K.A "me" was going to be  there... Darn it..I so wanted to meet him. I was all set to learn the Jive just for him. I'll still be there though. I get to M-C the event. It will be a great night if you can join us. In fact, you can bring your pets....believe it or not. Alot of people do. I decided it would be best though if I left home my two cats, the bird, the dog, and the 2 horses  ....lol... Contact the  Humane Society for tickets.

How perfect is this....
Tomorrow is Tax Day...Rubber Eraser  Day and "It Sucks Day"...no kidding. Somehow we will honor or dishonor all three.

Okay..true confessions here..I was born in 1955. SO now you know, but I think it's so weird that two of my favorite things in life also came to be in the year 55. Disneyland. In fact, it opened a week or so before I was born and MCDonalds opened its very first place April of 55.  There's only one way to celebrate....Make mine a Number 2!!!!!

And yes..we've got Great America tickets too...We'll give those away at 7:20 in exchange for a great Spring Break story. Stacy this morning told us about when she was 16 at the Boardwalk, met some "vagabond" as she called him..and made out in the Dream Inn elevator. And no...they never pushed the button.... !!!!! Time stood still....literally!!!!

Hope you had a great Easter weekend, but if the Easter Bunny didn't arrive, Sam thinks he knows why.
Yep..here are his top reasons why the Easter Bunny stayed away:
You're the Octomom and you already have enough eggs.
He injured his leg on Dancing with the Stars.
He didn't visit anyone since he was being held by Somali pirates.
Sarah Palin gunned him down from a chopper.
There were no eggs this year, thanks to Bernie Madoff...and my favorite...
Nobody likes you. Not even made up rabbits!!!!

Come on admit it..you laughed at one of these, maybe even two !!!!

I saw Sunshine Cleaners over the weekend... Was hardly anyone in the theater. But it was good, albeit very dark. You don't want to see this if you're feeling a little down, but the stars are great....Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, and Alan Arkin and a really cute kid. Don't know what his name was though. I don't want to give away the story line, other than its about the two sisters trying to make money by cleaning up crime scenes. You catch on quickly as to what's troubling Emily Blunt and it's sad...but the ending is sweet and you walk away smiling, (even though you're still wiping the tears from your face). Heck..I walk out of almost every movie wiping away the tears!!!!

Sam went garage "sale" hopping over the weekend. Think he went to a dozen places on Saturday.
Stories to come tomorrow...With the nice weather...there are garage sales all over the place now. Call us tomorrow, let us know about your best find...and maybe the secrets to success...other than waking up at the crack of dawn!!!!

If you missed the news...San Jose's Joey Chestnut did indeed eat his way to a world champion funnel cake victory at Great America Saturday....Somehow he got 5.5 pounds of cake down his throat...well, except for the batter he left on his chin and on the ground..which you might still be able to see if you win tickets this week to go to Great America. Yep, weve got them all week..Good luck...!!!

What a great summer this will be..not only at Great America, but at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga.
If you missed it on the front page of KBAY.com ,we've got the summer concert line up posted now. Heart, Boz Scaggs and Michael McDonald, Steve Miller Band, Huey Lewis and the News, Foreigner, Sheryl Crowe, Hall and Oates and Loggins and Messina. Already great, but even more concerts will be added. Season tickets go on sale Sunday 4/26 at 10 and of course we'll have lots of tickets to give away this summer.

Nothing says Easter like funnel cake....LOL.
But Saturday at 1...at Great America , San Jose's very own world eating champ Joey Chestnut will face off with 14 other top pro eaters to see who can eat the most funnel cake. First time funnel cake's been on the world-eating contest menu. Joey's going against his big archrival Pat "Deep Dish" Bertoletti, who recently beat him in the corned beef sandwich eat-off.
Go Joey!!!!!! We believe in you!!!!!!

Actually, Sam and I are more interested in the contest next Saturday up in Sacramento...It's the annual Peep-OFF".
With all the 50percent off easter egg candy sales, $30 will get you about 10-thousand peeps.. One year, the winner downed 103 peeps in 30 minutes. His name Dennis Gross.

Got the scoop this morning on boiling the perfect hard-boiled egg. Julie said to boil the eggs for 3 minutes, then let them sit in the hot water for 12 minutes.  Patsy's tip was slightly different....her husband brings the eggs in water to a hard boil, then takes the pot off the heat and lets them sit for 17 minutes. She said her husband was a good egg...so we'll let you pick between the two..

You think the Obamas will be at the White House stove--boiling Easter eggs for the girls. Doubt it...I think they've got the chefs to do that..but leave it to Sam...to give us the top signs you know it's Easter at the White House..

The Obama girls have gone from begging for a White House dog..to begging for a White House rabbit.
Dick Cheny is perched in a tree in order to get a shot at the Easter Bunny.
Intead of botox, Vice President Biden is getting injected with marshmallow Peeps
Rush Limbaugh wants the Easter Bunny to fail...   and my favorite...
The Paas Easter Egg Coloring Company is asking for a bailout ........yes give him a Rim-SHot or two....

Don't pick up Sundays copy of Parade magazine..It will just make you feel bad.
They'll have the annual list of what famous people make.  Theres our new hero...Captain Sully Sullenberger. He made  100k last year....but with his 2 books and a few other "well-deserved perks" he'll be higher on the list next year.
but now come the big money makers: Tyler Perry 125 million, Tiger Woods 110 million, Beyonce 80 million, Jennifer Aniston 27 million..Kelly Ripa 8 million, Talor Swift 5.5 million, Britney Spears 2.25 million ...but the biggest money maker of them all...BARBIE.  She made 3.3 billion but had to give it all to Mattel!!!

Be with us Monday morning....We've got Great America tickets..and at 7:40 some really exciting concert news. You will love it.!!!!!
Sam and Lissa's Blog - 4/9
Start talking about germs..and everyone calls...
This morning we mentioned the five surprising spots where germs like to linger...

1. The kitchen faucet. The metal screen at the end of the faucet is always moist..so it's an ideal spot for bacteria to grow.
To keep it clean.....Remove the screen once a week and soak it in diluted bleach. But if you're like Sam and you stick your head under the faucet to drink from it, make sure you let the water run for a few minutes before using it again.

2.Your vacuum cleaner. 13 percent of vaccum cleaners test positive for E.coli bacteria, which means you could be spreading it around every time you clean up.
To keep it clean... Change the bag often. You can even buy bags with anti-bacterial linings. And clean all the attachments with anti-bacterial soap and hot water every now and then.

3. Your car's dashboard. Seems this is the second most common spot for bacteria and mold to gather. Food spills were number one. Since the dashboard gets the most sun, it's a perfect place for bacteria to grow.
To keep it clean....Regularly clean your dashboard with disinfecting wipes.

4.Soap dispensers. They're the worst in public restrooms and very rarely cleaned.
To stay clean....Use the soap but be sure to scrub your hands thoroughly for at least 15-20 seconds. And use hot water.

5. Restaurant ketchup bottles. Most people dont wash their hands before eating and yes they've picked up that bottle before you have.
To stay clean....Carry hand sanitizer with you. Squirt some on your hands and then rub down the bottle. Holding the bottle with a napkin won't do any good because the napkin is porous and micro-organisms can pass right through.

Debra..a nursing professor at SJSU called...was worried about us...and asked about our on-air console.
We said...don't ask!!!!! James mentioned restroom door handles ...YUCK!!!
and Gail called..and reminded us about restaurant menus.... Don't  even want to think about that.....

So are we all in agreement?
American Idol made 2 major mistakes this season...adding a 4th judge.....
and letting the judges decide if you should get a second chance. It's so awful to see these guys like Scott McIntyre begging....It's just wrong..and it's mean too!!!
And when will Anoop go?...Hasn't he been in the bottom two or three almost every week.

Fridays are always good....but tomorrow even better. It's the real Good Friday. Maybe you have it off. Just make sure you're listening at 7:40 for the Fleetwood Mac tickets.

Sam and Lissa's Blog- 4/8
Coupons yes...but not so sure about generic brand toilet paper.....
Consumer Reports says you need to "Squeeze" the Charmin out of your budget....that you can save $130 a year by switching to Costco's Kirkland Signature or White Cloud T-P. But I don't know . People seem to be very specific about the brand of toilet paper they like. Not that I go around asking, but when you watch people in the grocery store..they seem to know exactly what they want. And how about this...Sam and I both like the same brand...Scott....although I'm sometimes "torn" between Scott and Cottonelle.

Kardashians yes..but Octomom NO!!! Watching the Kardashians on Saturday night on the E network is one of my guilty pleasures..I'll admit it...but there's no way I'll watch Octomom's new reality show. Yep..it's true, she'll get the reality show she always wanted once her last baby comes home from the hospital and that should be soon. A crew will follow her around as she copes with her 14 children and "attempts to find a person to have a relationship with". True story as my girls would say. She's looking for a husband. Reportedly the only condition Nadya Suleman had for the show was that they can't use the word "Octomom". They can't but Sam and Lissa sure can!!!!!

Guess Dancings Steve-O is building a fan base. Never thought I'd like him, but he really seems like a sweet guy. Glad he's still on, and I know Sam liked David Allen Grier, but to me he was just "blah" although he is a better dancer than Lawrence Taylor and Steve-O, so I guess they will be the next two to go.

American Idol seems to have picked it's favorite ..Adam Lambert, or at least the Judges have. Second favorite seems to be Danny Gokey and third may be Allison. I think Simon Cowell last nite was trying to keep her on for as long as he could by telling her to become more likeable. She's such an incredible singer, but does seem to have a weird personality and an atittude as well. Remember, the first nite of the live competition when Ryan interviewed her on the couch and she couldnt answer any of his questions about  school and tutoring?. Maybe, it's just because shes 16. But I think she's been in the bottom three a couple of times because people don't really care for her.

Who's going tonite?...Not Anoop....but maybe Scott McIntyre or even Lil Rounds. Not sure how many more chances she will get to win over the Judges.

Did you check your e mail for the KBAY Connection Newsletter? There's good new stuff in the Breakroom.
We'll have more Fleetwood Mac tickets tomorrow at 7:40....and we'll take a minute to find the Matzoh. ...and who knows
we may find the Easter Bunny as well.

So who's got the coupon? I know I do. It's getting to the point that I don't buy anything unless I've got a coupon or it's on sale.
Sam's not so into them, but I think it's definitely a gal thing, In most families, I think it's up to the wife to look for ways to save the money. Think about it, how often have you found yourself in a grocery store line and some guys holding things up by handing in coupons? Probably rarely..maybe even never. I haven't gone online to look for coupons though, but I've heard coupons.com is a great source. Natalie called and said Walmart accepts coupons from any store, and I'm not sure if you know this..that Bed Bath ad Beyond takes expired coupons. They don't care, plus you can use a bunch at a time, as long as there's one for each item. I'm guessing with this economy, alot of stores will take expired coupons now.

If twittering is your thing, you'll be excited to hear we've got twittering....twittering.com/945kbay.
But Sam and I are like the movie stars..someone does our twittering for us. What a story about Demi Moore.
Thanks to twittering, she helped save the life of a San Jose woman...a distraught woman who made some suicidal references on Twitter. Demi read it, and replied with "Hope you are joking", which caused several people to call 911. Turns out police took the woman in for a medical evaluation and Demi thanked everyone for reaching out, but gave a gentle reminder that someone threatening their own life is not a joke.

Dancing with the Stars...why dont they just call it a season and give the disco ball to Gilles. OMG!!!!He's got to be a ringer.
He's just too good!!!! Still looks like a dance off between him and Melissa, but now that the Woz is gone, I'm falling for Steve-O. Is he cute!!!! But I'm guessing and Sam says the same thing...that Steve-O is Gone-O tonite.

So did you survive when the clock hit 11:45am? The experts say of the entire work week, that is the most stressful day and time...Tuesday--11:45am....that we basically waste our Mondays catching up on weekend gossip..and dodging work. That on Tuesday , reality sets in and it all comes to a head, just before noon.
and then I guess its downhill from then on........Yeah!!!!

Sam and Lissa's Blog- 4/6
Wasting money..so easy to do..and unless you're Suze Orman...so hard to figure out where you can cut.....
But not always...heres the seven places money experts say many of us waste money. Sam and I nicknamed them the modern day version of the "7 deadly sins".

bottled water
extended warranties
gym memberships
overdraft fees
organic produce
auto insurance
music downloads.

Anna called..said what about college tuition? (shame on her)
Cathy said cigarettes..and as of today she stopped buying them. $5 for the nicotine patch from Kaiser and $120 dollars less per month on smokes.
Barbara e- mailed us....said auto insurance is a great way to save money. She said examine your bill..and dont wait for the renewal. She has ended up saving $5000. I'll add in that I realized a couple of months ago that Christina had never gone to get proof of her good student status at CalPoly..so I went on line and got a copy of her grades and sent it in and believe it or not..I got a refund check  for $500.
Barbara also mentioned Starbucks...said she goes to 7-11 every morning before school..for alot less.

Speaking of saving money..Not many days left until April 15th...tax day. Sam's come up with top signs you're going to be audited:
You claimed a profit in 2008!!!!
You're still holding tight to that bonus from AIG!!!
In honor of Twitter, your return is 140 words or less!!!
and your mailed your return directly to the White House addressed to "George and Weezie".

FInally got to watch the ER series finale over the weekend. It was great...made me tear up over and over again..
They did well in the ratings..16 million...about 5 million more than when George Clooney was on a couple of weeks ago.

Tomorrow morning...4 more tickets to Raging Waters on  Too Early to Think at 6:35...
and at 7:40....we'll have Fleetwood Mac tickets to give away!!!!!
Sam and Lissa Blog 4/03...
Hope you have a fun weekend planned. I've got the Presentation High School Fashion Show Friday night at the Fairmont.
Always such a great night. This is an annual "experience". The models and the hostesses are all  from the Senior Class, and it's their moment to shine and be the stars. And the best part is the finale when each girl meets her dad or her mom..or even an older brother at the stage. Shes in a formal, she is handed a rose..and the two walk down the runway to some wonderful tearjerker of a song. Just the perfect end to an evening...and such a moment for these girls. I remember when Victoria was a senior, Mike walked her down and took a "room for rent" sign out of his tuxedo jacket...and held it up....Made me laugh instead of cry. Mike passed away two weeks before Christina got to do her walk, so Victoria walked her down..and that was certainly a moment. This time there was no laughing.

Sam was funny this morning...We were talking about our weekend plans...and said he was thinking of taking 100 bucks out of the ATM ...picking up his wife-Carol-- and going to the Giants-As game to see if he could buy some tickets from a scalper. Now that's the "ticket".

Yep..opening day of the baseball season is Monday for the A's..Tuesday for the Giants..both games  away.So grab your peanuts...and your hot dogs...They say 22 million hot dogs will be served at ballparks this season.
And if you linked all those dogs...you could round the bases 30 thousand times..or stretch them from Philadelphia to Tampa Bay. If you ask me there is nothing like a ballpark hot dog....YUMMY!!!!!

Got to find some time to watch the E-R finale this weekend. After watching the one hour retrospective, I was done-in...
There was no way I could sit through another 2 hours...Jim called, said it was great, especially the scenes with Ernest Borgnine..SO hard to believe hes 92!!!!

Get a chance..come on out to the Home and Garden Patio Show at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. Sam's there Friday from noon to 2..me on Sunday from 3-5.

And speaking hours..Don't forget our new Saturday hours..11-4..John Tesh has taken our morning show from 6-11.
Monday should be fun...its microwave versus baked...and we've got the modern day version of the 7 deadly sins..and they all involve money.

And the moral of the story on American Idol is?
Dont "piss" off Simon. And who know's that the best? ....although I don't think she cares...Megan Joy.
Boy, was she weird last nite..weirder than usual, but I think it was because she knew she was going home and knew that we all knew it too. I think that's why she was so off the wall..with her arms flying..the funny looks and the "caw-caw".  But one thing we've seen since season one on A-I is you don't show any disrepect to Simon..and when she said " she didn't care" about his negative comments..that was that!!!! Loved his line when she was voted off..."you don't care and neither do we, so we won't even be considering whether to save you or not". End of Story!!!!

Tonite is all about E-R (unless you don't care-lol).  I stay up late every night..but 10 is my limit, so I won't see the last hour until this weekend, so watch it for me..and call tomorrow...to let us know if the finale was great or needed  a "shot of adrenalin".
We got so many calls this morning about other big shows that have come and gone..that we'll do some more looking back tomorrow. Sam laughs at all my T-V watching..but heck....T-V watching is fun!!!!!!
And so many times, it's not just the show, but the memories attached to what was going on in your life when the show was on. Sam mentioned Friday nights was Dallas nights with his sons. I always watched the O-C with my daughter Christina and then would call Tori at Cal Poly to compare notes... And now of course it's American Idol and Dancing with the Stars that have become "experiences"..shows you watch with your family.

Here's something worthwhile....the five foods that can reduce stress..and is there one of us who couldn't use that right now?

1. oranges......They say if Vitamin C is consumed after a stressful situation, it helps return blood pressure and cortisol levels to normal. Plus it boosts your immune system..and keeps you from getting sick.

2.Blueberries... They're high in Vitamin C too...and in fiber...which helps regulate blood sugar levels. Fluctuating blood sugar levels are a major contributor to stress. (Plus they add a little color and taste to cottage cheese-lol)

3.Dried apricots...They're full of magnesium which reduces stress levels..and is a natural muscle relaxant...which helps reduce muscle cramps, fatigue, irritability and insomnia.

4.Turkey.. You know about tryptophan? The amino acid in turkey that everyone says causes them to get sleepy on Thanksgiving can actually be found in lots of meats....and at pretty much the same levels. Tryptophan also triggers the release of serotonin in the brain which makes you feel good. (By the way, the reason you get sleepy on Thanksgiving is caused by too much eating and drinking...not the turkey.

5.Salmon (yuck) ...but the omega-3 fatty acids found in fish are good for your heart..and relieve stress!!!

Happy eating...Happy living!!!!!

Come on home Woz!!!!!We left the light on for you!!!! I think we all guessed the end of the show had come for Steve Wozniak...and that he would most likley be voted off Dancing with the Stars. And Holly Madison was a sure bet too. Steve-O will probably be next..and then maybe Lawrence Taylor.

It will be shocking if Megan isn't voted off American Idol tonite. She has been so bad the last three weeks. I'm thinking she, Anoop and Matt will be the bottom three. The bottom three on Dialdol.com is Anoop, Allison and at the very bottom Megan, and theyve been right the last few weeks. Would be the second  time Allison would be in the bottom. She's a great singer, but did she look weird last nite, and could her hair be any higher or more orange. And now, she not Adam, has the black nail polish.

David Cook and Lady Gaga are supposed to be on tonite, but last nite they actually promoted the David Cook video instead of a live performance.I heard he's had to cancel some appearances because of a family matter. Hope his ill brother hasn't had a setback. And that poor Danny Gokey. His wife died right before he tried out for A-I and now his grandfather has died.He went home to Wisconsin over the weekend for the funeral.

Happy about this....NBC has re-signed Friday Night Lights for another two seasons. They're going to do the same thing next season that they did this one..where they run the episodes commercial free on cable..and then show them on NBC with the ads...which makes the season on NBC start a lot later.

Sure have the DVR set for tomorrow nite..the finale of E-R. At 8..they'll look back at the last 15 seasons and then run the finale from 9-11. I know the ratings have really fallen the last few seasons...E-R used to be number one...but it's still great. Lots of TV shows end before their time....Give us a call tomorrow  at 1 800 948-5229 with your favorite from the past..the show that you wish you could still watch.

And while you're at it...what's your favorite sandwich?....It's not such an off the wall question...as tomorrow is Peanut Butter and Jelly day..and that happens to be Sam's favorite..although with his diet he's reduced to half a PB and Jelly. Go to the Sam and Lissa page..take our poll....
Sam and Lissa's Blog 3/31
You know what goes on sale today?....Slumdog Millionaire..  Don't know if I can watch that outhouse scene again, but I'm excited. If you haven't seen the Oscar winner yet, nows your chance.  Good week for DVD's. Marley and Me is out.
I think I might send that down to Christina as an Easter gift. Will Smith's Seven Pounds is out too, but I couldn't bear to watch that one again. He's tremendous in it, but it is so sad.....and there was one scene I didn't even watch...just couldn't handle it.

Who do you think is going tonite on Dancing?  2 get sent packing. Holly Madison has got to be a definite.  She seems to be in alot of pain...so that will be good for her. Can't figure out who else. Steve Wozniak deserves to go and I would now be okay with that but he's got so many people voting for him. So I'm thinking either Steve O or Lawrence Taylor.
Was certainly clear last nite who will probably win...Gilles and Sam's favorite dancer Cheryl Burke. What did Carrie Ann say once she stopped swooning...."that it was hard to tell which one was the professional."  And yes, how lucky to be Mrs. Gilles.

Thanks to Fox for making it easy to watch both Idol and Dancing tonite. Idol is on until 9:20 or so..so that the new Osborne show can start early...in hopes Idol fans will stick around and watch. But I think many of us (me) will quickly switch to
Dancing .

So much to talk about tomorrow...a brand new month. April Fools Day or All Fools Day....or St. Stupid Day.
It's National Cleavage Day..and the start of National Soft  Pretzil Month. Did you know that Pennsylvania produces about 80 percent of America's pretzils? And that back in the 1600s the bride and groom would make a wish and pull on a soft pretzil like a wishbone. Now..there are some "twisted" facts.

Can you believe it...March is almost over. Where is this year going? Before you know it..school will be out and you'll have to keep the kids entertained all summer.

And then there's E-R...the series finale is this Thursday. That's it..the final episode....
Makes me sad..I love that show..and it's been just great this season, although I must admit by the time every episode is over..you're just drained. Over the years, there's rarely been one with a happy ending and from start to finish there's so much drama. It's exhausting!!!!!

Started watching Friday Night Lights this season, although most of the shows are still on DVR. I think the ones we're watching are advertising for the Apprentice which has been on for weeks now. It is such a great show though. I'm really hooked..so I hope NBC renews it. Theyre deciding today.  Hope you werent hoping Lipstick Jungle was coming back...because Brooke Shields announced it's not. Liked that one too...

Sam's mainstay has always been Survivor but he even told me this morning..he's tired of it. I don't think his wife--Carol-- is though and she's the one who always throws a Survivor party for the last night.

Christina went back to school over the weekend...She is so funny. She calls me from the road for one more checklist...did she take everything? SO I said do you have the dog--Diesel?..that's all I really cared about. Diesel is the stray she found....65 pounds of PitBull/Wipet...way to big for my Tobey Tobes and Cloey although Daisy didn't mind him...and way to big for me.
I hate to admit ...hes kind of  cute..too bad he looks like a Pit though...because  so many people don't like them. I'm not a fan either....and was so mad at her for taking him in..but he is very sweet....a big baby....he crys...talks..wants to sit on your lap....and never wants to leave her side. But now I find out..he just ate a new shirt I bought her...a pair of her tennis shoes....a thing of aluminum foil...a bag of bagels...and my make up...Well, at least he's got some SP15 protection now!!!
Sam and Lissa's Blog -3/27

Not sure if you heard the news....on Saturdays...the Sam and Lissa morning show is now a mid-day show.John Tesh is on in the morning..and we're on at 11 and go all the way to 4.  Have to admit..it's weird being on in the mid-day...Been in radio for over 30 years, and have never been on past noon. Not Sam's typical shift either...But it's fun......We like these new hours.......

This is our favorite new word....Schmeckfest. Say that a few times....you'll start to laugh!!!
It's a German festival this weekend in South Dakota. Sarah from Morgan Hill called said Schmeck means eat...
so now it's even better...And another new word..for me at least....kuchen ....Sarah says it means cake..and usually apple cake....even better!!!!!

Didn't you feel bad when Michael Sarver got sent home on American Idol. He had no chance of winning..he expected to go home..but I felt bad because he was so sweet about it...What a guy he is...And boy..didnt Matt look upset about being in the bottom two. He had a tough time even rocking to Stevie Wonder...He's got a great voice..but he's dull....no personality.
so there's no way he can compete with Allison..or Danny..or Adam. I've even lost interest in Lil.

No new Desperate Housewives on Sunday. It's a repeat...good thing. I'm still recovering from the last five minutes of last Sundays episode.  And I know Brothers and Sisters wont be back on for a couple more weeks,,but you know what's coming to an end next week. E-R. Too bad too..as I think the show is still great..and this has been such a fabulous season.
Even if you no longer watch it, but used to....you've got to watch next Thursday. So many of the old-timers will be on..
I'll be crying...will be a kleenix moment!!!

Have a great weekend...make sure you're with us Monday...We'll find out whose better...Monsters or Aliens?
and we'll try to figure out when you know you're finally a grown up. And one in four has this....even Sam...
We'll figure that out too......

It's  probably the best week on American Idol...Motown Week.
Last night was great, but it's clear who will be in the bottom three...Scott MacIntyre, Megan Joy and Michael Sarver.
I'm hoping it's Scott. I've tired of him, and I do think he's too one dimensional..not much variety...and I want Megan to stay for another week or so...otherwise we're down to just 2 females. She was the worst last nite though...no doubt about it...but boy is she beautful. As for Michael...or the oil rig worker as we like to call him, Simon's right  he's got no chance of winning..but I didn't think he was bad last nite..and I like him.,...I really like him.!!!!

Here's the deal with the Face2Face Tour tickets Sam and I have this week.
You've got to hear back to back Billy Joel and Elton John songs, but don't wait for the second song to end before you call. You've got to call at the very beginning of the second song...as that's when we start taking the phone calls. Don't call during the first song  because those we don't answer and we clear the phone lines.
You've got the number right? 1 800 948-KBAY (5229)

Sure had some  fun phone calls this morning about so called "Nostalgic Candies" that these tough times have us craving.
Hershey sales have been great this year...talk about inexpensive comfort food that makes you feel happy. People prefer what they call cheaper, old fashioned sweets...like Necco Wafers, Bit-O-C- Honeys, Swedish Fish and Mallo Cups. We had listeners add Cup-O-Gold, Seven Up, Big Hunk, Look, Walnettos and Sam kept mentioning the Cherry Hump.
He said they were like Almond Joys but with cherrys instead of almonds. I told him to go buy a box of chocolate covered cherries and stick two together!!!

Go to the Sam and Lissa Page...Take our candy poll!!!!!

Yeah...the Woz dances on....
Long Dance the Woz...
What a shocker last nite. Not only didn't Steve Wozniak get sent home from Dancing with the Stars..he wasn't even in the bottom two. And who knows, maybe he will out survive Holly Madison and Steve O.

Tonite..it's American Idol....and will it be great ..Motown night. It's always one of the best of the season.
Since Adam Lambert was so creepy last week with his country song.. he's gone down a notch with the oddsmakers who are again favoring Danny.

Got a dog? Sam found this tidbit.... Scientists, he says, have finally figured out why your dog chases his or her tail.
The culprit... high cholesterol. Isn't that something.....compulsive tail- chasers have much higher HDL and LDL blood cholesterol levels than calmer dogs. They think the increased cholesterol eventually upsets the level of serotonin in the dog's brain...causing many a dog to kick into a "fight or flight" response.

Christina came home from Cal Poly for spring break with a dog...a stray....a pitbull/wipet. This thing is HUGE...
60 POUNDS. I have not been happy...because we have a tendency in our family to bring animals home to Mom..
What do we have in my small townhouse already?....besides me and Tori.... a bird...2 cats....Daisy the shitzu..and for this week DIesel..the HUGE dog. Have to admit he's sweet...but I am not meant for a 60 pound dog. When Tobey Tobes first saw it, he made a dash for it..and I didn't see him come out from under the bed for a good 8 hours. This ones not staying though...so hopefully when Christina graduates, she will quickly get a job as a teacher..and won't have to move home. Oh..wait a minute..She's going to be a teacher....She will be moving home!!!!

We gave away the Billy Joel/Elton John Face2Face Tour tickets early this morning. I think it was about 6:50...so I'm guessing tomorrow ..it will be after 7. Good Luck!!!!
Sam and Lissa's Blog- 3/24
Peep into the Pantry....there they are....PEEPS!!!
Can't have spring without them......
Peeps is out with a new Easter flavor...Chocolate Mousse...
You're welcome.........

And yes....the celebrities do get paid to be on Dancing with the Stars. No confirmation from ABC, but one source says  $200k each..with the top three finalists recieving bonuses...and we know who those three will be...Gilles...Melissa and Shawn.
For all the money ABC makes off the show..it's not that much for the stars. I know most of them don't have a current gig...but when you take away taxes, and fees for agents, managers and lawyers..it's probably more like $90k...and it's alot of hard bruising work.

Still can't get over how mean the judges were to our "Woz" last nite. They treated him as if he were Master P from a few seasons ago. Now that guy wasn't trying. He did nothing on the dance floor..and wore tennis shoes..but Steve Wozniak , I honestly believe, is trying the best he can. He's just no good, but to look so disgusted last nite..and treat him with such disdain..Come on!!!!! lighten up...its an entertainment
show..Stop taking yourselves so seriously....Bruno, Carrie Ann and Len..!!!!!

No Idol tonite. Because of the Presidents press conference at 5 our time...Fox has pushed it back one night. Sounds good to me..That way you don't have to keep switching back and forth...

Gave away our first tickets this morning to the Billy Joel/ELton John Face2Face Tour.. We've got them all week. What you have to do is get near a phone when you hear either Joel or John..but don't call until you hear that the next song is from the other half..  Good luck!!!!!!.  Oh..the number if you don't already know it..but I suspect you do is 1800 948-5229.
Sam and Lissa's Blog 3/23
I still can't get over Desperate Housewives last nite. All I can say is "Holy Shish-k-bob!!!!
Even expecting the death of Edie couldn't have prepared you for the final five minutes.

And what is with the killing off of characters this season? Now, House is getting rid of someone.

Tonite...Dancing with the Stars. I'm guessing this will be the swan song for Steve Wozniak. They say he pulled a hamstrong the other day and looked like he could barely walk over the weekend.

Not very often Sam and I see the same movie and on the same weekend. We both went to see Duplicity with Julia Roberts and Clive Owen. He liked it more than I did. I didn't understand it until Tori explained it to me afterwards...and then it all made sense. The last scene was a great one though... Been awhile since I've seen Roberts. Her age is starting to catch up with her...(not a negative...just noticed ) And there really wasn't any chemistry with her and Owen.

You want to see something cute?...Go see I love You Man... You leave smiling!!!
which isn't the case with Knowing...We had two female reviewers this morning...One liked it alot more than the other...and even though the World Ends in it...it seems Cage can continue to make movies.  DARN!!!!!

Sam MC'd a Goodwill event Saturday night in Oakland.  It wasn't even near the terrible killing of 4 police officers, but he said there were officers all over the city....and the mood was so somber.

I actually cleaned out my closet yesterday....always do this when winter seems to finally be over..and its time to wear spring and summer stuff...This is when I move the sweaters to one side....and put the blouses and short sleeve stuff in the middle.  I found stuff I hadn't seen in years....and it saved me money.... I said to Tori..."Don't let me go buy a darn thing." I've got plenty to wear for sunny weather. And by the way....is your closet stuffed to the brim like mine?. Hard to find anything that's not wrinkled!!!!

We gave away our front row tickets this morning to Earth,Wind and Fire plus Chicago...and tomorrow we start the big give away for the Face 2 Face Tour...BIlly Joel and Elton John..or is it Elton John and Billy  Joel? Either way....listen for
the singers back to back..and when that second song  starts...call quickly 1 800 948-5229. We've got tickets all week..and so does Jona.

First weekend of spring..and we've got rain!!!
Good thing I didn't take the cover off my adirondack chair!!!!
What's the saying "March showers bring April flowers"....oh yes..I'm a month early on that one..

Leave it to Sam...top new names for AIG:
Monsters,Inc.
Bed, Bath and Beyond Bankrupt
Take the Money and Run...and Sons.

This is my favorite since I have two daughters who love to shop in this store...
Forever 21....Million Dollas Bonuses.

You ever put smiley faces at the end of messages, or am I the only one who still does that? I find that it lightens up the meaning of whatever I wrote...and I guess waitresses are trying to do the same thing.
Look at your restaurant bill next time. See if one is there...as researchers have found that when waitresses add a smiley face to the bottom of the tab...you tend to tip 5 percent more. Doesn't seem to work with waiters though...which makes sense..would you really buy a smiley face from a guy?

Heres a warning if your young kids like to Google  American Idol contestants.
Megan Joy Corkrey, the quirky tattooed blond who the Judges really seem to like has dropped her last name. May have something to do with the fact Corkrey is her ex-husbands name... There's just one problem...there's already a Megan Joy who gets googled a lot..and this gal is an adult film star.  YIKES!!!!

If you listen to Sam and Lissa on Saturdays and we hope you do...We've got new hours....11-4..
John Tesh has taken over the morning... He's got a great show too, if you havent heard it before...lots of
tips and wisdom...celebrity stuff and great music too.

Already excited about our Monday show...We've got front row tickets to Earth Wind and Fire performing with Chicago in July and at 7:40....a HUUUUUUUUUUGE concert announcement.  And yeah..once you hear ..you'll agree it's HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE!!!!!
Sam and Lissa's Blog 3/19
Sam and I have never seen anything like it.....how much your daughters want those Jonas Brothers Tickets!!!
We've been giving away the tickets all this week at 7:40 in the morning, and I'm guessing we answered the phone 200 times this morning..to say "sorry, we've got a winner...try tomorrow". And if you were on the other end of the phone..we should have also said...Get into the KBAY Breakroom, as we're giving them away there too!!!  Wow!!!!!!!.
Must admit those boys don't do anything for me....but they did go up a notch when they announced they are inspired by Neil Diamond.
Now they're talking...

And don't forget...Weve got 2ND ROW tickets tomorrow for Earth,Wind and Fire/Chicago.
And whats in front of the second row?..THE F IRST ROW..and those you can win on Monday. Be listening at 7:10.

So much for the story on the Internet that Idol this season was fixed....that the Judges had already picked the final 4...Lil Rounds, Danny Gokey, Adam Lambert, and ALexis Grace. But  ALexis is gone..and the Judges did not try to save her. Think it was a wrong choice though...Michael should have been given the boot....and how sad for Alexis..She doesnt get to go on tour...

This is important stuff....the list of top ten plants and food items that are most likley to poison and kill your pet.
Things I bet you'd never think of..
1. Grapes/Raisins
2.Mushrooms
3.Marijuana
4.Lily
5.Walnuts
6.Onion
7.Sago Palm (what the heck is that?)
8.Macadamia Nut (make sure you eat them all before you come home from Hawaii)
9.Azalea Plant
10. Hydrangea Plant

Got to follow it with Sam's favorite story of the morning....about the woman in North Carolina
who put $400 in cash on her bedroom dresser. It disappeared. She figured out her dog ...Augie
must have eaten it. She took him on a long walk..and she was right.  Out came the poop and the money..but in  pieces ...and if you put them all together, you'd have
3 $100 bills and 5 20s....She took out the hose...washed them down... and is at the bank today hoping they'll exchange the pieces for new bills... See...it's true..your money these days is no better than poop!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sam and Lissa's Blog 3-18
Who says we don't count?. Im thinking it was us...who kept Steve Wozniak on Dancing with the Stars last night. The popular vote beat out the Judge's vote....and where is the Woz most popular?...here of course!!!!I know..he's not a good dancer, but he's the only one who is really any fun this season. So glad Belinda Carlisle aka Priscilla Presley was the one to go-go last night.

Been in radio for 30 years and I've never met Steve Wozniak. But I'm hoping to next month. I'm  the M-C for the  Fur Ball to benefit the Humane Society of Silicon Valley and he's one of their honorary chairs. He went last year with his dog, so I hope he does again this year. He just seems like such a happy go lucky guy...Love when he smiles....his whole face lights up!!!

Was country night on American Idol...and few sang typical country..thats for sure.  And even though I didn't like alot of the versions....I don't think anyone blew it. Was not an easy night to pick who might get the boot. I'm not an Adam fan..and last nite he really creeped me out, but I know he won't be voted off and if he were the Judges would certainly save him. Hopefully, it won't be Alexis tonite because I'm not sure this early in the season , the Judges would want to save her. They might need to fix the final four further down the road. So I'm picking Michael and Scott to be the bottom two tonite. Idol Irene agreed and Idol Sam thinks its going to be Alexis and Scott.

And what will they think of next? Could it be American Idol trading cards? Yep..another way to make a few bucks. 140 trading cards of past and current singers...with autographs. No one's mentioned that gum is included!!!!!

We give away alot of concert tickets in the morning, but Sam and I can't remember a week like this...Jonas Brothers and Earth,Wind and Fire plus Chicago....side by side and solo at the HP Pavillion. Two incredible shows. The Jonas Brothers give- away is at 7:40....Not sure on a time for EWF plus Chicago..but I do know they're third row tickets for tomorrow..and by Monday morning..we'll be down to the FIRST ROW!!!!!! Good luck!!!!!
Sam and Lissa's O'Blog- 3/17
So did you notice last night on Dancing with the Stars...Belinda Carlisle looks just like Priscilla Presley.... okay... just the face...as Belinda weighs alot more..but it's like they've gone to the same plastic surgeon.
Look again tonite...You'll see!!!  I thought for sure she would be the one to go home tonite, but I'm guessing Steve -O for living up to his movie name..Jackass.. Yeah..he was being an idiot...and instead of doing the Salsa...decided to do his stage antics..and fell on his back right on top of his microphone box...OUCH...off to the hospital he went. I still think Belinda will be the other low vote getter...but since they have a dance-off now and he wont be able to dance...she'll stick around for another week. Yes..Steve Wozniak is an awful dancer..and looks so goofy but it's an endearing goofy. I think he'll keep getting the popular vote for awhile. But they might as well just schedule the Disco Ball trophy night for Giles Marini and Melissa Rycroft.

See how it stands up tonite against American Idol. I hate that they're both on the same night.

Sam's top reasons we celebrate St Pattys Day..

It's the only thing keeping Ted Kennedy alive.
Somehow, getting drunk and passing out in a public toilet seems less pathetic when everyone else is doing it.
Another excuse to pinch a woman's butt in bars.
We get to say traditional Irish phrases like, "Top O' The Morning, "Erin go Bragh" and "I'm sorry I vomited  on your shoes".
The same reason we celebrate ANY holiday. Because a display in Target tells us to.
and finally....SHAMROCK SHAKES...why else.

Although Linda from the FLames coffee shop called this morning to complain, she can't find a Shamrock shake at any McDonalds, even though we advertise it. She's gone to about six so far. SO if you know of one, let us know.

Tomorrow at 7:40..have the kids ready to call in...1 800 948-KBAY. We've got Jonas Brothers tickets to give away.
They'll be at the HP Pavillion AUgust 3rd. Tickets go on sale this weekend.

Monday morning's are always tough..but at least Sam got back from skiing in one piece. Never know what to expect when he returns from a few days in the snow... You know his bones are getting brittle-lol-.

Guess you don't get hit up to often from friends and relatives who are either asking for money for charity or selling something for their kids..because no one called to "whine" this morning... Here's the question....How many times can you hit up the same people? And according to Real Simple , the answer is all the time if the person is a relative.....yes...you can ask family for pretty much every fundraiser you support. But with friends and acquaintences, ie co- workers....limit yourself to 2 or 3 requests a year.

We were minding your manners this morning... Here's the list of  common and annoying etiquette mistakes:
1. Not RSVP-ing to a party invite.
2.Nickle and diming your friends when it's time to  split the check.
3. Crowding other people when you're waiting in line.
4.Going on and on about what's happening in your life..without asking the other person what they've been up to.
5. Changing your baby's diaper in public.
6.Talking loudily on your cell phone.
7. Peeing on public toilet seats.
8.Stealing a parking spot...when it's clear another driver is waiting for it.
9. Wearing clothing that's way too  tight..especially if your belly shows.
10.Spitting
11. Honking your horn just to be a jerk.

And thanks to Oprah we have a few things you should always do!!!!!

1. Write a thank you note anytime someone does something for you that takes longer than a 15 minutes.
2.When invited to dinner...try what you're served..even if you hate it.
3.Make sure to ask people questions about themselves to show you're interested.
4. Use the Rule of 12....which means to use a form of thanks and a person's name in the first 12 words you speak to them.
5. When eating a roll, tear off bite sized pieces. Don't just bite into it.
Although according to Sam this morning...to Oprah...the entire roll is a bite-sized piece!!!!!!!

SHAME ON HIM..........

Tomorrow morning..it's all about the luck or unluck of the Irish!!!! the wearing of the green....and the eating of the green...
Have some fun with us...   (while you eat your Green Eggs and Ham).

It's time to start "garage sale" shopping....most of the winter rain is gone...Spring officially begins next week, and no garage sale is bigger than the one Saturday at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. This is the Greatest Garage Sale On Earth..the bi-annual rummage sale put on by the Junior League of San Jose. Starts at 8, and by 3 they're down to their last few things.
I went a few years ago. I couldnt believe how much stuff there was..and people!!!!... It reminded me of those wedding gown sales when you have all the brides- to- be grabbing for the same stuff... And all the money they raise..and it will be alot..goes to the childrens programs the League sponsors.

Little Lucy called up this morning...said she was 9 and then remembered she turned ten a few days ago. She said the best advice for garage sale shopping is to go early before everything is picked over.. Says shes an expert!!! that shes gotten some great clothes and toys from garage sales... She had the cutest little voice!!!

And as you read this.... hopefully, this hasn't already come and gone... the Saturday morning pancake breakfast from 8:30 to 11:30 at Edenvale Elementary School in San Jose.. This is so cool...For the last 21 years, Edenvale students have been promised a scholarship for college once they're out of high school, as long as they  finished 6th grade at Edenvale.
Almost 450 kids have gotten one now...for a total of $258,000....so all the money they make tomorrow will go into the college "pot". I think they're the only elementary school in the nation that promises this....

Sam will be back from skiing Monday...hopefully in one piece!!! It's Mind your Manners Monday....
We've got an etiquette lesson...that will cross over to all those times you ask people for money..for a run...or a school fundraiser..or even Girl Scout cookies. And I think we might have big news next week on a particular concert!!!!
Sam and Lissa's Blog- 3/12
Okay...what the heck are they doing to  American Idol....Enough already!!!!
First...a know it all judge...(kara)
then 13 finalists..which meant 2 had to go the first week anyway...and now the "Judges Save".
It's a good idea...as you know there will be one person who gets voted off way before his or her time because of people trying to fool the system... but come on.....how cruel can you be to the contestants.
Every week, whoever gets voted off will have to sing the song that was bad to begin with..as the judges talk right in front of them about whether or not to ignore the vote..and let the person stay.  Last nite was ridiculous..like Jasmine or Jorge..or even Anoop would have been saved. Jasmine ended up crying as the "fake" decision was made..and Jorge just got the quick "NO" from Simon..

And don't you wish someone would finally refuse to sing their "loser" song? It didn't sound good the first time they sang it, let alone the second time. It does amaze me though that anyone can sing ...once they've been voted off.

Have you bought your Girl Scout Cookies yet?. I don't know the final sales day..but it's in another couple of weeks... and isn't this the truth..that as soon as they stop selling them..you want more. If you drive by the Girl Scouts office at Bascom and Stokes during afternoons this week and next...you can buy them right off the street.
Top selling cookie...Thin Mints (of course)..followed by Samoas or Caramel de Lites, then Peanut Butter Patties/Tagalongs.
If 4 dollars a box is too much ...bake them yourselves..Go to girlscouts.org. They've got links to both the liscensed bakers. ABC?Interbake Foods and Little Brownie Bakers.

Tomorrow..your last chance for now to get through on the phone line at 1 800 948-kbay at 7:40 and sing Opera for Andrea Bocelli tickets. More chances though in the KBAY Breakroom. By the way, don't look at the calendar for tomorrow. It may scare you!!!!
Sam and Lissa's Blog- 3/11
You know how I love American Idol..but I even flinched at about 9:45 last nite when Paula Abdul..in tears...proclaimed Adam Lambert the winner of this season. Never mind that she had basically said the same thing to Danny Gokey when he sang. But then came the startling statement from Simon...."weve still got ten more weeks"  OMG...that means 2 and a half more months of the American Idol season...!!!!!

No one totally blew it last nite, but I think Anoop came pretty close. I never really thought he was that great anyway...plus he just bores me...but we'll see if he gets voted off tonite. I thought Jorge was bad too...but Dialdol.com which measures the rejected phone calls to the 866 numbers and uses that to predict who will get ousted says the guy at the bottom is Jorge, followed by Allison, and then Jasmine. The ones they say are guaranteed to go on are Danny, Adam, Lil, Alexis and Anoop.
Our morning show "experts" Irene picked Anoop and Jasmine, and Sam picked Anoop and Megan.

Dialdol.com does the same thing with Dancing with the Stars. They're predicting Belinda Carlisle will go first. But who knows, they get to dance one more time with one more vote. And the Woz..who got the judges low of 13 was actually one of the top vote getters. He might be our new Cloris Leachman. There's an article about him in the current Newsweek that says he is the nicest guy you could ever want to meet. And he did seem like a jolly fellow on stage..so maybe he'll get to stay for awhile.

Can this be true?..that I'm the only one who hates black jelly beans. My daughters don't like them either...but Sam loves them...and Margaret called this morning to say they're her favorites too. James and Linda e- mailed me..they love them too. They claim you can even buy bags of nothing but black jelly beans. YUCK!!!! But as to my claim or was it a complaint, that they put more black jelly beans into the bag than any other color...Margaret says no....that black is such a dark color..they're the ones you notice.
Sam and Lissa's Blog- 3/10
Is this turning out to be fun....We have 2 tickets to give away every morning at 7:40 for Andrea Bocelli at HP Pavillion June 6th...and we've decided to have you sing in your best opera voice. Rick Greenwood got us going this morning...It was great. He has this really big-deep voice. Will we hear from you tomorrow morning?  And throw Bocelli tickets into the mix for a KBAY Golden Ticket...one more concert that you'd get to see on us.

Dancing with the Stars off and rolling. Anything can happen of course, but right now it looks like we've got a competition between just 2 dancers....Dumped bachlorette Melissa Rycroft and naked Sex in the City neighbor Gilles Marini. OMG..he's
a doll!!! and a great dancer although did I see Cheryl Burke give him a "look" when he started getting a little racy in his comments. It was almost as if she said "we dont talk like that on this show". 17 year old Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson is a doll too..and she can also dance. We certainly saw who couldn't dance..our very own Steve Wozniak..although he seemed like he was having so much fun, Jewel's husband...rodeo star Ty Murray, David Alan Grier,  Lawrence Taylor and Belinda Carlisle. I thought Steve- O held his own. First to go..It's probably going to be a dance-off between the Woz and Murray.

So glad it's not on tonite...Because, after-all it's American Idol night. Saw some new odds this morning, and they actually give the edge to Adam Lambert...followed by Danny Gokey and then Lil Rounds. Carrie Underwood has recorded the "farewell" song for the season. We'll hear it for the first time tomorrow nite, and then by the end of the season..we'll be good and sick of it!!!

Top ten books people say they read...even though they haven't:

The Selfish Gene - Richard Dawkins
Dreams of My Father-Barack Obama
In Remembrance of Things Past- Marcel Proust
Midnight's Children- Salmon Rushdie
A Brief History of Time-Stephen Hawking
Madame Bovary-Gustave Flaubert
The Bible
Ulysses-James Joyce
War and Peace-Leo Tolstoy
1984-George Orwell

And your count?
Sam and Lissa's Blog- 3/9
Wow.. a week of sunshine, and with the change back to Daylight Saving Time, an extra hour to be outside.
I'm thinking dog walks, car washes, and heck...I might even take the cover off my Adirondak chair. Did I spell that right?
But after all the rain we've had, and I know we need more, it is so nice to have the sunshine. Just wish it were a little warmer, but by mid week or so, I think it will be.

And how cute was it seeing all the Girl Scouts out this weekend selling their cookies? Hard to say no, isn't it, which is why all of a sudden I have 10 boxes in my pantry and I'm on a diet!!! Tori will eat them, she always does. The Girl Scouts even took over one of the Kiosks at Oakridge. Now that is a Kiosk I didn't mind seeing or stopping at!!!

Saw Wicked for the second time in a month over the weekend. It's Christinas favorite play, so she came up from Cal Poly.
Still miffed, though, that the tickets I bought online for $175 a piece weren't that good..and that the people directly behind me got theirs for  $25 and $50 dollars. Just doesn't seem fair....

Sam spent his weekend Birthday partying!!!! and eating ...but hey aren't you supposed to do that on your birthday. He's back on his diet today.

Dancing with the Stars tonite. Not sure how much of a  chance the two fill-ins will have? You ask me, they should have just done with 2 fewer people this season after Jewel and Nancy O Dell had to drop out. Remember last season, and how at the beginning, it seemed like there were way to many dancers? I know they've got the season planned in terms of how many weeks and stuff, but there must have been something that could have been changed.  Maybe go a week without losing anyone.  The two new gals Holly Madison and Bachelor dump-girl Melissa Rycroft have to compete with the other stars who have been dancing for about six weeks. So how long are they going to last ? Steve Wozniak has the worst odds for lasting, so I'm thinking he's happy ..maybe he'll get to stay on longer.

Last night it was Brothers and Sisters... love that show, but havent watched last nite's episode yet. Desperate Housewives was good..but weird. Did you notice, they didn't pick up with where they left off 3 weeks ago? Dave and Mike didn't take their camping trip, which was all they talked about in the last episode.. What's up with that!!!!

Tomorrow, we'll start giving away Andrea Bocelli concert tickets...which reminds me...Did you get in touch with your friends and co workers..to sign up for the KBAY Connection..to try and win a Golden Ticket? There's always the chance if they win..they'll take you to a concert or two.

Happy Birthday to you..Happy Birthday to you...Happy Birthday dear.....
Happy Birthday to you...so that's for Sam and You..if your B-Day is the 6th...

And looking back at your day in time...1836---the Alamo fell in Texas. Have you ever seen that thing? No wonder we lost. The wall is this high!!!!! It is so short , I could even climb over it, which the Mexican forces did.

1950- Silly Putty was invented.
1964- Elizabeth Taylor divorced her fourth husband..Eddie Fisher. She was way ahead of Sam..It took him many years later to get to wife #4 (lol)
1980-Susan Lucci lost for the first time at the Daytime Emmy awards. Remember, she lost another 18 times before finally winning Best Actress as Erica Kane on All My Children.
1981- Walter Cronkite retired after 19 years on the CBS Evening News.... such a quitter!!!! lol....

Again Happy Birthday.....

Did you hear our Vocabulary Word of the Day?...It's a gem!!!!
Liquidity-When you look at your retirement funds and wet your pants!!!!

American Idol--DId your DVR turn off right before they made the last announcement like I did?Luckily, I was actually watching
it at that point...But..yes the show went  extra long....But I think they got it right with the final choices. Thank goodness..Tatiana is gone...I couldn't stand to see her cry again..or hear the same song again. And poor Megan..She gets her winning moment and spends the entire time trying to comfort Tatiana.. Go Away!!! And I'm glad Anoop got to stay..although I dont like him as much as everyone else seems to . I think he is so darn boring.!! Anyway, I'm excited to watch the next few weeks.  Now that Tatiana and Nathaniel are gone...there are no Sanjayas on this season.

Dont forget to move your clocks up an hour this weekend. And make sure you enjoy the sunshine.. Christinas coming home so Im excited about that. We're going to see Wicked..which is her all time favorite play. And Sam is going to be partying like there's no tomorrow all weekend. Good for him!!!!!

Going out to dinner? Take a look at your food portions...and is there bread on the table?
Yes....those sneaky restaurants have been saving money by cutting back on things they've hoped you won't notice. But  I think we all have!!!!!
Caught these on AOL, and Sam and I can't say they're all true, as we don't go to alot of these places, but maybe you can:

Olive Garden-- when requested a second bread basket....there were just 2 breadsticks!!
Applebees- what used to be 4 mini bacon cheeseburgers are now 3.
P.F.Changs- no knife with the rest of the cutlery. Waiter said it saves on the dishwashing.
Outback- dinner salad no longer included with an entree.
Chevys- smaller chip baskets (yes) and one customer said his enchiladas were full of red and green peppers...but little meat.
Cheesecake Factory- customer said ketchup was watered down...to a "drip" instead of a pour.
Panera- smaller soup bowl, thinner sandwich.
Red Robin- half the fries in the unending basket of fries.
Spaghetti Factory- smaller salads, smaller pasta dishes.

Robert called..said he ate at Red Lobster and they got a basket of 3 biscuits...one per person.
Sam ate at a place in Walnut Creek and got Beef Stew without the Beef!!!
I've noticed CPK gives you bread only if you ask for it. Dont wait for them to offer, because they won't. I've noticed that at alot of places. And Gerald e- mailed that one of his favorite restaurants not only stopped giving bread and water..they closed down!!!
Would be funny if it weren't sad.
Also got a call from a former waitress..now working in office. She said her restaurant stopped offering free food to the staff!!!

Yep..no doubt about it times are tough!!!! which is why our great promotions department has again opened the vault for your KBAY Golden ticket...a ticket that  gets you and a guest into every single concert KBAY is sponsoring this year...such as those at the Mt.Winery....All you've got to do is be a first timer in the KBAY breakroom. I'm guessing since you're reading our blog, you are long time members of the KBAY Connection, so what you need to do is contact relatives and friends and co workers..get them to sign up..because maybe when they win, they'll take you along!!!!!
Sam and Lissa's Blog- 3/4
Boy, it was like the bottom 12 of the barrel last nite on American Idol...except for Lil Rounds. In fact, I'm thinking it may be between her and Danny Gokey for the title this season. But oh my..does she have a booty!!!! Beautiful young woman....
but looking at her last nite I wasnt sure how she got that zipper up her dress. She's not heavy at all...quite the contrary..but I'm thinking they should shoot her from the front only....

So who else will make it tonite?...Gee, it could be almost anyone. They were all pretty mediocre. Idol Irene thinks Jorge..the guy from Puerto Rico. I'm guessing maybe Scott McIntyre. Simon said he hoped he would stay. And Von Smith wasn't bad, or the gal who got the second chance after that Pacitti girl was kicked off. I think her name is Felicia. I will fast forward past their ensemble number tonite . You think the last two sing alongs were bad..tonite could be horrific as Simon would say.

So, I got that dreaded call yesterday about 4:30...the other "dreaded" call. "Mom, I've had an accident". Christina calling from SLO that a FedEx guy hit her...Thank goodness she wasn't hurt..and her roommate wasn't hurt...and I will add it's nice that the accident wasn't her fault...My insurance company will like that and so will my check book!!!!. Still... those kind of calls always leave you shaken...and I can imagine what Christina feels like. She didn't lose it though.....and the claims gal was impressed that she got all the information she needed to...

You may like this news..Slumdog Millionaire will be out on DVD March 31st. Wouldn't it be nice if 5 dollars of the price would go to the young stars of the movie who are still living in the slums and begging to get out?

March 31st is also when the Golden Tickets will be put back into the vault...So if you've never tried to win anything here..never made the KBAY Connection ..now's the time to do it..,,,and get your friends to do so as well..Maybe if they win the tickets to every concert and movie premiere for the year that we're involved with..they'll take you..
Sam and Lissa's Blog 3/3
We only did this once this morning during the KBAY Daily Dish at 8:10 so you might have missed it...and it's such a great story....a true one too!!! About three years ago, doctors told a young man of about 18 he didn't have long to live....So he made a dying wish. But it wasn't to go to Disneyland or meet a WWE superstar and hold their title belt. This young guy..and we don't know his name...said he if could live to 21, he would want to gamble in Vegas with Ben Affleck.
That was 3 years ago..and Affleck back then said sure!!! Guess what....this guy is now 21 and this week he and Affleck are in Vegas. Or at least they were the other night. They had dinner Sunday at the Palms, then hit the tables. Then they went to the Playboy clib and got a VIP table.

So question?..is Ben Afflleck not our hero of the day. He is one COOL guy....and there are few in Hollywood who are like him.
And then there are the Slumdog Kids.. Their story goes from bad to worse.  The 10 year old who played Jamal was beaten the other day by his dad for refusing to speak to reporters.  Now it turns out hes very sick..and his 9 year old co-star..the
girl who played Latika and wore that cute little blue dress to the Oscars is also doing poorly since their return from Hollywood..and that's the problem.. They came here and lived the good life and then went back to the slum. Little Rubina..who is still wearing the now dirt stained gown doesnt want to live there anymore...saying there is garbage everywhere, people get angry, swear and shout..and the air smells like poo. So what happened to the homes they were promised for their families?
It's a tragic shame!!!!!!

American Idol tonite...I promise it will be better than that Bachelor show...Son of a Batch...we're now calling it.
Sam and Lissa's Blog- 3/2
Happy Birthday to you..and Happy Birthday to Dr. Seuss....  The late Ted Geisel..aka Dr. Seuss was born on this day in 1904 and  died in 1991. Who doesn't love Dr. Seuss? He wrote over 50 books....Sam I am....(hmmm...I didnt know he knew Sam), Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat...One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish and of course my favorite for high school...even college graduationg gifts...."Oh the Places You Will Go... He was one in a million!!!!!!! Check out Google
It's really cute today.....

And so was Paul Harvey....We all grew up with him doing radio news. I remember, growing up, when we would take our long road trips, we'd always hear him on the radio. Hard to believe he was 90 and doing his great stories almost to the very end..
"Good Day" and "Good Life"....

I'm worried Ed McMahon will be the next to go. Just finding out hes been in the hospital for a month now for pneumonia and bone cancer...if the rumors are correct.  So much fun has been made of him..ever since we found out he was broke..but he's an institution..an icon and a good guy..Save Ed!!!!  It's his wife Pamela..Sam and I blame for all of his money troubles. Plus..have you ever seen her on Tv Interviews?..She is one Pushy Broad, as my Mom would say...very very annoying.

Saw Kate Winslet's The Reader on Saturday. Yes..another story on the Holocaust, but there was so much more to this one. You've got to go see it...She is some actress. And I saw it at 11:15...which was the first movie of the day..and it was only 6 bucks...Popcorn and a drink 8.25..but the movie ticket only 6 bucks. They said the first movie at all the Cinemarks are 6 bucks..good deal..and a much better deal apparently than the 15 dollars for the Jonas Brothers..which made half of what the studio expected.  Sam saw the International with Clive Owen. Said he should have seen something else... maybe the Jonas Brothers!!!!!

Corbin Blue of HSM..was so great at our lunch Friday. 20 years old and with manners!!!! He was incredible with the kids and with us Moms!!!! Dads too!!! He really was something else. I was taken aback!!! Sam too...

So make sure you've entered to win the acoustical show/lunch with Natasha Bedingfield on Thursday. That should be great too!!!
Sam and Lissa's Blog- 2/27
Wow...a weekend!!!!!. Is it just Sam and me....or was this a very long week....Can't even tell you why... but both Sam and I looked at each this morning and said TGIF!!!!We had our jeans on and we were ready to kick back. Isn't it funny what jeans will do for you especially when you wear them to work.  We don't have a dress code here...the sales people do...in fact I don't think they're allowed to wear jeans even on Friday...but Sam and I usually don't wear them until Fridays. Monday through Thursday we're dressed fairly nice. I know..weird..we're on radio....you can't see us...but we are out and about and we come from the same "school of attire". When I first started in radio, at KLOK in San Jose...the owner wanted us to dress  well..so I've always done it.... But I'd still rather wear jeans than anything else..Sam too. And when I'm not at work thats just about all I do wear..

Got to laugh about American Idol ...I was out so I taped it and watched the results show in about 6 minutes...That shows how much of that show is a complete waste of time..starting with that dumb ensemble sing- along at the beginning. And were they ever bad Thursday night. The three who got the stools were the right ones...16 year old Allison. Her hair didn't look as orange as usual....Adam...and Kris (the young cute guy with potential) Vote for the Worst should give it up..They lost again with Nick Mitchell....the "comedian". Did you notice..he wasn't laughing at all!!!!

In a few days, the promotions people here will be making the guest list for the Thursday Natasha Bedingfield lunch..so make sure you get into the breakroom this weekend....to get your name in.. It's going to be great!!!!
Sam and Lissa's Blog 2/26

Got a new poll up on the Sam and Lissa Page.. You'll understand why when you see it...
Yep...don't like the changes this season to American Idol. This new 4th Judge, Kara isn't cutting it . Takes too long to get everyone's opinion in..and Kara seems to think she's got to talk..talk..talk...
She's definitely trying WAY to hard and it appears at times she wants to seem like the "expert".
Hello!!!!That's Simons job...
Wonder if Nick Mitchell...aka Norman Gentle will make it tonite. Vote for the Worst.com has picked him. But they picked Tatiana last week and that didnt pan out. I don't think this website has the fan base it did when Sanjaya was on. I think alot of
those people have tired of the show..and moved on to Twitter!!!

This cracks us up....Former President George W. stopped by a Dallas elementary school yesterday. Not sure why.. He might have gotten lost on his way to the store...but he popped his head into a classroom...and asked..."hey kids, do you know who I am?" After a pause, one student shouted "George Washington!"  oops!!!!!

Did you hear?....your underwear is now victim of the recession. Buying undies at places like Victorias Secret is out. And sales are up at stores like Target, Kohls and Walmart which sell Hanes, and Platex. One researcher says it's because "People who went to Vickis were the same people who bought the entry-level Coach Bag and went to Ann Taylor Loft. They were in the aspirational category. They aspired to wear what people above them wore". But now their credit cards are maxed out, so it's back to reality. Wish my daughters had that dose of reality..They still want Victorias Secret...and heck....they're expensive!!!!!

Tomorrow morning..our interview with Corbin Bleu...May still be a chance for you to join us at the lunch with him...
Plus at 7:40 Clapton-Winwood tickets.

Oh..and tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!!
Sam and Lissa's Blog- 2/25
Who's average ...You? You are if you watch 150 hours or so of TV every month.....
which is about 5 hours ...everyday!!!  I think almost everyone watches more TV than they think...or is willing to admit...
and I ask you..what's wrong with watching TV?
People are watching when theyre not even watching... A third of all Internet activity occurs when people are also watching TV..

So which of these top ten shows have you watched in the last week?
1.Academy Awards
2.American Idol (performance show)
3.American Idol (results show)
4.The Oscar Red Carpet Special
5.The Mentalist
6.NCIS
7.CSI
8. Greys Anatomy  (Desperate wasn't  Sunday)
9. Criminal Minds
10. House

If you're wondering about Survivor ..it was number 11..
And about American Idol which is on tonite and tomorrow...Simon Cowell says the singers,as a group, will be better than last week..and I think they may rush along the Judge's remarks...Now that there's 4, Simon said he was even asleep by the time they got to him.Still think it was a bad idea to add Kara as a Judge...Did we really need a 4th opinion? In fact..isn't it true..we just need Simon's. (hope Sam's not reading this...because if he is....he's rolling his eyes about now)

Fun show tomorrow morning..We'll have Clapton-Winwood tickets at 8:20..but before that..besides an Idol comment or two...the question to parents...What do you want your kids to be when they grow-up. See if you go along with the parents in a survey we found...plus we'll let your kids talk.....Who's the biggest Pushover---Mom or Dad?

Sam and Lissa's Blog- 2/24
No American Idol tonite. It's been moved this week to tomorrow nite and Thursday. I'm guessing Fox didn't want to compete with the Presidents speech. It's 6 here..but 9 back east. ...So how could they get their 24 million votes?!!!!

One last thing on the Oscars...I know.... Sam and I are so done with it too...but the audience was a little larger this year.....36 million...so an increase of 13 percent..but it's not like it was when our parents watched...because they say this will probably be the third least watched Oscars . It seems to be more of a media event than anything else. And here are the two quotes to wrap up Hugh Jackman's performance.. "a pretty charming guy" or he performed "like a cheese cruise-ship entertainer to the endless hours of awards to dull men we've neverheard of for categories we don't care about". Which quote do you like?

Talked about Lent today...which we now know means not only something important to you that you give up for 40 days..but also "giving back" to people for 40 days.
Which led us to the question, What's so important to you that even in a bad economy you won't give  up?
They're called untouchables. And our daily poll is all about this...so go back to the Sam and Lissa page and cast your vote.
Callers this morning...said the internet....cable tv...hair cuts(that was Sam) , manicure and sometimes pedicure. (that was me)
Expendables are what you give up..and sometimes to kep the untouchables. And those include designer purses....satellite radio (that was always bad) high end cosmectics, maid service .

When you can't afford it..Concert tickets can be expendable...which is why we have such great shows in the KBAY breakroom and this week...weve got tickets to win for the Eric Clapton-Steve Winwood concert. Make sure you're listening at 7:40 tomorrow morning....
Sam and Lissa's Blog -2/23
So what did you think about the Oscars? Sam liked the actual show more than I did. I thought Hugh Jackman was great at the beginning, but didn't have much to offer as the show wore on. I didn't like that second musical number at all..the one where he said "The musical is back". Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens and the gal from Mamma Mia and her dancing partner were not Oscar-show quality...not at all. But Jackman, you've got to admit, was a great cheerleader for the show and always looked like he was having the very best time...And yes..there is no disputing that he's the sexist man alive!!!!!
Couldn't argue with any of the winners...but thought it very weird that Sean Penn didn't even thank his wife who was right in front of him crying..and  it was also odd that Kate Winslet got a standing ovaation by everyone but Brad Pitt. Did you see Angelina seemed to yell at him...."get up".  Most uncomfortable moment, I thought, went to Jennifer Aniston who had to do her presenting right in front of Pitt and Jolie. How she didn't stumble over her words!!!!

Too bad the pre- shows are so lame....How can someone be so great on their talk or news show and be so mediocre when questioning the stars?  It must be harder than it looks, because no one is that great at it.
Sam came up with his own Red Carpet questions...
How much of your cosmetic surgery is tax deductible?
How much money have you lost in your 401K?
How many of the nominated movies have you seen? And then make them name them.... (that will get them)

Sam saw Slumdog Millionaire over the weekend...He loved it...and I think like almost everyone  was surprised at the actual storyline...I saw Confessions of a Shopaholic..and you know it's cute...very cute...with a very sweet ending..

Rude behavior..other than people rushing out of the movie as soon as the last scene appears over and its really not...
letting kids run wild...
talking too loudily on the cell phone....
not holding the door open for someone..or not saying thank you to the person who does...
taking cuts in line...
and number one.....yelling obscenities in public... especially when kids are around

Start thinking about this for tomorrow morning's show......whats "untouchable" in your life...even with a bad economy.
What are you still spending money on?...although you probably shouldn't  be. And then the f lip side of the coin...
What have you been willing to cut back on?.....

We've planned your Saturday too...Sam and Lissa from 6-11...

Weekend done..... (ha ha)

Oh..but here's some good info if you'll be drinking at some point this weekend... wine that is..This is usually our afternoon guy's department. Steve Fox, if you didn't know is a wine pro. Not only can he drink it well..he knows what to drink...
But here they are...the 4 steps to choosing a good wine..
1..Know what you're eating. Light wines go with lighter foods. Full-bodied reds go with bolder foods...and for spicy food...something sweeter.
2.Pick a region... You're usually safe with a wine from France, Italy and Germany..They know their wine..
For American wines...our fine State of course..and those from Oregon. Australia has the Shiraz.
3. Pick a grape....Cabernet Sauvignon grapes produce a rich red wine. Pino Noir..a little softer, and Merlot is light.
Sauvignon Blanc is crisp and great for hot summer days...
4.Pick a year.. Age isn't everything. Some bottles do improve with age..but most wines at the grocery store will actually get worse if you don't open them... Red wines are generally aged for 2 years before they hit the shelf. White wines and champagne are better if you drink them right away.....
Here's to you.......

Can't leave this one alone...Tatiana is nuts!!!!! Thank goodness Vote for the Worst on American Idol didn't get their way this time and she was voted off last nite. Will be interesting to see  if they pick her as a wild card to join the final 9 on stage. While I  think she is even more annoying than Sanjaya...and she's much more arrogant too...
she's good for drama and probably ratings.
I've been watching all 8 seasons and yes, contestants cry when they lose, but not like her. I thought she was going to have an emotional breakdown, and did you notice how earlier in the show she was posing to the camera? I  think she tried to get off stage when she lost, but it looked like  they stopped her. So into herself..I just cant get over it..

And besides getting rid of the parents in the red room...they really need to stop their silly ensemble numbers.  The 12 did such a horrible job last nite on Jason Mraz's I'm Yours...It was embarrassing...for American Idol!!!

But I still love the show....I really do!!!! You watch, the final two will be Danny and Alexis!!!!

Have you been getting text message ads the last few days on your cell phone?I even think the text yesterday was for a porn website. The texting messages, for me, at least just started. Cynthia from Morgan Hill said the same thing has been happening to her...very weird...

Campbell Soup, which apparently is doing very well in this bad economy, is coming out with the first makeover of its Tomato Soup...a low salt version... Do you realize Campbells has been making Tomato Soup..since 1897...and has barely changed the recipe.....A big seller it is..but leave it to Sam..to have the list of "not such big sellers"....

Old-fashioned Cream of Weasel... Sideburns n' Barley, Turkish Prison Surprise, Tap Water and Lawn Trimmings, Split GOP..and my favorite....Chunky Beef Blagojevich..or is it Chunky---beep---Blagojevich?

Big morning tomorrow...4 First row tickets to Disneys HSM--The Ice Tour at 7:10...
and lots of OSCAR BUZZ..  In fact, help us out..Go to the Sam and Lissa Page and take our Poll...
Stop by the KBAY Breakroom too...We've got two big events coming up...Corbin Bleu for lunch next Friday and then Natasha Bedingfield the next Friday....

Sweet and sour notes of American Idol from nite one....
Get rid of the parents.....We don't need to see or hear from them in the "red room" with Ryan....BORING!!!!
And get rid of Tatiana...but watch, she'll be the third top vote getter tonite. Vote for the worst.com has picked her to save...
There's no reason to save her.....Let her find someplace else to "market"herself as she put it last nite. And didn't it seem like she was on drugs.... I know she wasn't...it was just her "demure"act.....but it made me think she got into Paula's medicine cabinet. Will be shocked if Danny and Alexis aren't the top picks. I know it's just week one, but these two could be the final two.

What was with Ted Dansen? How many times did they show him in the audience. Must have a new show on FOX...
They're so good at self-promoting...

Forget the snuggie...how about The Zipper?....the dress with 120 seperate zippers that can be zipped, unzipped or partially zipped to create more than 100 different outfits. Not in stores yet....but the designer is working on it...See it soon in the
"Seen on TV store"
This one I think you can Google and buy...the Go-Girl. .." a female urination device
(sometimes called a FUD) that lets women pee while standing".. Yeah.....
costs $4.99 ... a three-pack for $11.99.

Did you check your e mail?...KBAY Connection newsletter came out this morning...
Everythings great...Disneyland trips...Lunch with Corbin Bleu...Celine Dion tickets...and a private show with Natasha Bedingfield...that I have a sneaky suspicion might turn into a birthday bash....More details to come!!!!!

Are you ready to rumble.....well...how about are you ready to vote?  AMERICAN IDOL starts tonite... the real shows..the live shows where you get to vote..no more pre- recorded stuff from months ago....this is the real deal... So for the next three weeks, 12 finalists will sing and you vote..and then the next night we find out who goes.....and many will go since theyve get to get down to twelve. I think it's twelve. I believe theyre letting the  judges bring back a couple of singers. Must be alot of fluff tonite though because its a 2 hour show..

You know what else is on tonite? on Bravo...the season finale to the Real Housewives of Orange County...and then it's the start of the Real Housewives of New York City (2nd Season) I'm in heaven!!!!  Thank goodness for DVR's. Sadly, I've had to temporarily stop watching Biggest Loser....It's just too much!!!!! Something had to give....LOL.

There's only one person who could bump Sam off the GQ list of the most stylish men in America..and that's JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE...Yes..I can feel every woman in American quivering...May I just say I've loved him since he was the leader of NSYNC. Sad it was..I was crazier about him than my daughters... He just seems so cool...and so nice.....and good to his Mom!!!!!!....Thats the part I love!!!  Same thing with Corbin Bleu from High School Musical...We interviewed him this morning...and I asked him how often he calls home...and he said everyday..I live at home...He stole my heart!!!! Hes just 20....and is so darn talented...We'll have some of his interview on next week....You've got just a few more days to try and win lunch with him Next  Friday. We've also got the tickets this week for HSM ...the Ice Tour. He'll be performing at the shows in San Jose...but not on the ice. He said they'll have a special stage for him...no ice skates necessary!!!!

Yeah...SAMMIE'S BACK!!!!
Was so great..back to normal this morning...which was kind of weird..since it's President's Day..and I think almost everyone else had it off. Not us though!!!!!!

Had to laugh...we both had Valentines Day cards for each other . The one he gave me  was the same one he gave me last year..and the one I got him was the same one one of my best girlfriends mailed to me. Of all the cards they sell...
and we ended up with these two.

We also both saw the same movie this weekend.... He's Just Not That Into You.....and of course a difference of opinion. We both loved it, but he thinks Scarlet Johannson is hot..and I don't.  I just don't get it!!!!!! I know shes got the lips..the boobs and the behind...but I just don't think she's that pretty....
Two weekends in a row I've seen that movie...Saw it last weekend with a best girlfriend, and then Tori wanted to see it this weekend. Thank goodness, Christina has already seen it, as I think three times would be over the top.

Hey..did you see this?

True story..but no newspaper article ..My friend Gerald was listening to Sam and me this morning....heard the story. and then dummied up a newspaper story.... Pretty funny!!!!! and so was the incident Saturday night!!

Did I tell you SAMMIES BACK!!!!!! YEAH......
