Was out and about over the weekend looking for a dress to wear to a black tie gala…
I found one!!! But I realized it’s prom season. Boy, with two girls did that bring back memories…some good ..some bad....LOL!!! Was always fun but always cost more than I expected and sometimes we shopped for hours and hours….just to find the perfect dress for 5 hours. Yep, not once did my daughters ever wear the same dress twice.
But it also reminded me that a lot of girls have proms but no dress. Was such a good feeling a few years ago when I donated the girls prom dresses to the Princess Project. And while at Westfield Valley Fair, I saw the drop off for donated dresses.. Such a great thing they do for girls who can’t afford these expensive dresses..
I hate the thought of anyone missing out on an experience especially something like a prom because they cant afford the dress.
San Jose Vice Mayor Madison Nguyen for four years now has also collected dresses. Operation Prom Dress she calls it. Last year, Moms and young women dropped off 3000 dresses …new or gently used and it was so cool the day she gave them away at the Seven Trees Community Center. She’ll do it again on April 15th…so if you have a dress that will never be worn again….please donate it…Her drop off centers are San Jose Community Centers, Libraries and the Comerica banks all over the Southbay. Will make you feel good…I promise!!!! http://www.facebook.com/SamVanZandtKBAY
